[Q] CSC - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The problem is the following the S2 go to assistance again but this time to be exchanged for a new one.
I am with the following problem, the S2 was Vodafone Branded (PORTUGAL) i unlocked and I installed the rom TPH ( portugal carrier free) and the problem is that now install either 2.3.5 or the new ICS vodafone and even doing factory reset he did not let me select the CSC TCL (Original one) says must always be three chars.
If I can help would appreciate, and there is a possibility of making a vodafone Sim Lock again?
Greetings and thanks

I think I can translate what you're asking.
1) did you actually sim unlock? Or just flash non branded firmware?
2) are you actually trying to flash a rom with your csc in? They don't all have every csc.
3) if you have flashed an unbranded rom you won't be able to flash vodafones csc. Just find out what the generic Portugal one is and use that.

1) yes i did sim unlock
2) my phone was branded Vodafone (CSC TCL) and i Flash the TPH (carrier free)
3) I need to put back the original CSC because my s2 go to samsung to be exchange for another one

In that case you need to check out Odia's (I think) thread in development and download your appropriate carrier branded firmware. Then just hope they don't notice your sim is unlocked.

[Q] Any advantage in upgrading CSC on the phone?

Hi guys,
I'm wanted to ask some questions since I still have some doubts after grinding the forum threads.
I purchased an unlocked SGS2 in UK and I live in Portugal.
The phone is currently rooted and running Cognition 1.5 based on KH3.
While checking CSC version I found that it's still on version XEU KD1.
MY questions are:
Is there any technical advantage in upgrading CSC to a later version?
Is it worthwhile or safe enough to upgrade to a different CSC region like OXA KH3 for example, and still retain all usability of the phone in my current region?
If portugal CSC code is TPH, why is it that with a XEU CSC it's working perfectly with my current portuguese providers?
Is there a way to upgrade CSC by CWM Recovery or can I only upgrade it via Odin?
Thanks for any tips and pointers you guys may have for me.
Regards from Portugal
1) apn settings.
2) it's safe and does not sffect usability of the phone
3) because phone autonatically picks the apn settings for you.
4) you can do it on both.
No point changing if it all works, csc is just apn settings and any bundled apps.

Thanks for the answers guys.
I decided to go ahead and flash it just for the fun of it.
Flashed CSC via ODIN to OXA KH3 and everything is working fine. Wiped my settings but was expecting that so no biggie.
Thanks sent to both.

Have an O2 branded S2, how do I revert to normal stock?

Hi, I just got a new Galaxy S2 but it is locked to O2 and is O2 firmware branded.
I don't mind wiping all data (since there's nothing on it yet), but is there a way I can change the firmware to the original Galaxy S2 firmware?
Or what is fastest?
I don't like all the preinstalled junk that has come with the phone, I'm not bothered about unlocking it since I'm using O2 anyway.

Flash a uk rom from here. I'm personally using KH3 with XEU CSC
Locked then you need to get it unlocked .
Debrand O2 in Dev section as well .

Do I need to unlock it before I put the stock firmware on?
To unlock you need to root (use cf-root) then download chainfires unlock app from the market (may not work on newer sgs2's due to them being more secure)
You dont need to be rooted or unlocked to flash a newer stock firmware, there is a fully guide and list of firmwares to download from this thread, using any firmware from there will debrand the phone, try KG6 (older) or KH3 (newer) both are good 2.3.4 roms.

CSC issue?

Hi,
I have just flashed the XWKI4 package from this thread (which has the new bootloader removed) to a UK Orange branded S2, in an attempt to debrand.
Upon reboot, the stock samsung animation is shown, but, the stock orange crapware apps are still installed.
When I go to *#272*...# to change CSC, the current CSC is shown as ORA but there are no CSC available in the list to change to.
How do I get rid of the orange apps? I am thinking I need to make the phone think it's XEU CSC but how can I do that if XEU is not in the list?
thanks

If its Orange brand firmware then its not debranded .
You flash a non orange stock firmware i guess you have not flashed the firmware .
after you have read the instructions
Stock Roms .and csc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
either should debrand to stock

About stock Firmwares

So right now i have 2.3.6 stock downloaded from samfirmware.com and flashed with Odin. I want to flash the 4.0.3 because of the perfomance increase, but i have 2 questions:
1. I'm on Orange Mobile Carrier, if i flash a firmware from Vodafone, will my sim card still work? Will I have problems?
2. I'm from Romania, if i'll flash a firmware from UK or Germany, will be any problem?
Help please

Probably but you may need to enter network settings manually .
2. I'm from Romania, if i'll flash a firmware from UK or Germany, will be any problem?
As above is CSC is not for your location and does not contain your network details .

Can I flash a ROM from another carrier?

Hello guys, so I've seen that Android 10 was released in France, but not with the XEF or SFR CSCs. Can I still flash the other ones and change the CSC afterwards?
My carrier is SFR, if I flash a BOG ROM, it won't read my SIM, right?
Thanks.

if youre on the G965F and want 10, youd need to flash the multi CSC version of 10 available for your phone. It should work with your sim regardless of which one you flash, just might not get the best signal is all. Matter of fact, yes, you could flash whatever firmware you want then your specific CSC and itll be fine
