About stock Firmwares - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So right now i have 2.3.6 stock downloaded from samfirmware.com and flashed with Odin. I want to flash the 4.0.3 because of the perfomance increase, but i have 2 questions:
1. I'm on Orange Mobile Carrier, if i flash a firmware from Vodafone, will my sim card still work? Will I have problems?
2. I'm from Romania, if i'll flash a firmware from UK or Germany, will be any problem?
Help please

Probably but you may need to enter network settings manually .
2. I'm from Romania, if i'll flash a firmware from UK or Germany, will be any problem?
As above is CSC is not for your location and does not contain your network details .

[Q] CSC

The problem is the following the S2 go to assistance again but this time to be exchanged for a new one.
I am with the following problem, the S2 was Vodafone Branded (PORTUGAL) i unlocked and I installed the rom TPH ( portugal carrier free) and the problem is that now install either 2.3.5 or the new ICS vodafone and even doing factory reset he did not let me select the CSC TCL (Original one) says must always be three chars.
If I can help would appreciate, and there is a possibility of making a vodafone Sim Lock again?
Greetings and thanks
I think I can translate what you're asking.
1) did you actually sim unlock? Or just flash non branded firmware?
2) are you actually trying to flash a rom with your csc in? They don't all have every csc.
3) if you have flashed an unbranded rom you won't be able to flash vodafones csc. Just find out what the generic Portugal one is and use that.

1) yes i did sim unlock
2) my phone was branded Vodafone (CSC TCL) and i Flash the TPH (carrier free)
3) I need to put back the original CSC because my s2 go to samsung to be exchange for another one
In that case you need to check out Odia's (I think) thread in development and download your appropriate carrier branded firmware. Then just hope they don't notice your sim is unlocked.

[Q] How to change CSC from KSA to INU for S2

Hi,
I am sorry if this is a repeat question......
I have a S2 from Saudi Arabia with CSC: KSA (UAE).
I want to change CSC to INU (India).
1. How can I do this?
2. Will I get official ICS India update through kies after I update the CSC?
use odin and flash official rom for india
Try csc changer from market. But it will reset your phone.

Does official rom for India means CSC, PDA and Phone or it is just one of them?
Also is it possible that I flash official GB 2.3.6 India rom and get official India ICS update from KIES?
Yes Odin package is whole stuff.
Yes you can also go that root, GB to ics via kies.
But Odin is better.

Flash official ICS via Odin, go to sammmobile.com click the firmwares tab then the smartphone link, then the Android link, then your phone model and finally your region.
Find the latest firmware for your actual location India or India and sub Continents, you will need to register to download it, then use Odin to flash it.

Thanks
Thanks guys......it worked like peice of cake...... though after I updated to indian 2.3.6 version through kies said you cannot get updates through kies.....but I updated again to Indian ICS version (thanks to sammobile)......and it works fine....even kies is not giving any error now.....

[Q] Upgrading firmware with Odin

Hi guys I just wanted to know if what I'm about to do is the correct method to upgrade my firmware from gingerbread to ics.
I bought my phone ( i9100 ) from Hong Kong and I live in a different country. So when there was an update for its firmware, i was unable to receive it even after checking for updates through system. So what I'm about to do is use Odin and download a firmware from samfirmware under HK's firmware and put it in the PDA part of Odin and run it.
Is this method correct? Or am I suppose to do something else? My phone is not rooted and I dont intend for it to be just yet and I'm also wondering if I use HK's firmware, will it affect my network coverage? Because being in a different country and having a different assigned network and all might cause a few problems with its radio or something?
Please advice thanks
Hi yes that's how I upgraded my firmware that method will work. Be sure to factory reset first though. As for your carrier concerns I can't answer sorry. The beauty with this though is that you can re-flash a different firmware if it doesn't work. All the best

1. Your method is correct. You shouldn't have signal issues.
Before flashing you must go through the flashing guides.
2. If you are living in another country and don't have plans of going to Hong Kong or your phone is out of warranty (this doesn't matter), you can flash any firmware for your present location. It will work very fine.

if you are rooted you should be able to flash anything, whereas the question is more do you want a branded ROM?
if you are not rooted, I assume you can't but please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes any stock or provider rom can be flashed via Odin .
You do not need root at all .
Use CHECKFUS to download any current stock /provider rom and flash via Odin .
This does not touch your rom counter .

Flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com using Odin.
Make sure to confirm the model # in download mode before downloading the ROM from sammobile.com.

I've tried to use the latest firmware 4.3 but so many options, eg Vietnam, Austria, Australia, whereas I do not know which firmware I should use, but behind the I9300T handset written in vietnam and if I check using apps in my playstore i9300T Australia, which one should I choose? on I9300T I have installed the default application named Vodafone, do I need to install the Australian version of Vodafone? before I tried but still failed but the type of firmware installed in my device, I do not know for the safe area because I download from the site outside sammobile.com

Download this GT-I9300T Vodafone firmware & follow the instructions in the page: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=15FAD4211EE911E6949E0CC47A44B7B2
No need to unlock as it already is with that firmware.
Did you confirm the model # in download mode? Apps do not always provide the correct information.
sorry i want to ask? because i have never used samsung, by updating firmware can imei and baseband i appear again?
Yes, flashing the latest stock ROM can sometimes restore the imei and baseband.
