Good pm guys, I just want to share a few things I noticed.
Recently, i was trying out Antutu to benchmark the performance of my phone. I was using GO LAUNCHER for the past few months and I was happy about it. However,
I recently installed temple run and was experiencing more than usual lag. I installed v6supercharger but it did not eliminate it completely. I did an antutu benchmark test and got 2975 score so i was baffled even more. Yesterday, i tried out the xperia s launcher that pandemic uploaded. To my surprise, the lag from temple run went away!
But the most baffling thing of all... I did a benchmark test and only got 2620 score. :-B
It seems to me that either antutu is not that accurate or my phone is acting up. Can any of you guys confirm this? Also, if you can recommend a more accurate benchmarking app, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there. Why am i getting only about 1000 quadrant score, while everyone getting somewhat like 1500 on the same roms?
Do i have a different hardware or what?
Different roms will get you different results. Gingerbread roms appear to run around 1000+ while Froyo roms run closer to 1300+. Run it a few times and you should get a better score. Quadrant doesn't really matter too much though. What's important is how the phone feels for you not what a graphic tells you.
Thanks for reply, but the problem is that i'm having different results than people on the same rom.
And does the quadrant score affects on how smooth the games are running?
Do you have a lot of apps installed on your internal memory? The "cleaner" the phone is the more optimized. Junk apps will definitely decrease performance. As for running games, quadrant doesn't affect how smooth your game is running but does show performance measures that could be related to efficiencies of your phone. Theoretically, the higher the quadrant score the better your phone will be at running your games.
What file system are you using...quadrant takes your free space for apps in score consideration..
If your using data2sd and have 2gb for internal(ext2,3,4) then quadrant is going to show a better score than those on rfs.

No, i have taken stats from fresh install, also tried different roms, but never got higher than 1000.

No, i am not using data2sd and i guess those people who get higher score than me not using it too.
Build.prop
Need to edit.
refer to reinderro's build thread, which I can't find now.

Oh ok..
But my point was having lesser apps and having more. Internal space will increase the quadrant..

Which rom(s) are you using?
FYI - Fresh install of 2.1 will only get you around 500. JIT enabled gets you around 600+, removing additional junk apps will get you 700+. 2.2 Roms will get you over 1000+ easily. Z's Froyo beta 3 got me around 1500+. Others including Gingerbread hover around 900-1300.
I have tried CM7.0.3 J020c and trip's froyo.
In both roms my quadrant is about 1000, but for other people trip's rom giving them about 1400-1500.
I am on wolfbreaks rom..(as per my signature)
The only other thing i do is move all aps to the sd card that can be moved and leave the ones with widgets on my internal memory.
I average about 1450 to 1550 with my best score of 1609.
Run it a few times as well..
On J's rom I run around 900-1200. Never tried running quadrant on Trip's froyo but on his Arc rom I get around 1000-1250. Again, quadrant isn't that big of a deal. Your games will run fine on your phone. Remember, try to have more free internal memory and get rid of junk apps you don't need.
on wolfbreaks rom. i move all apps to the sd card (except widgets)
1300 - 1400
Okay, thank you, guys, quadrant isn't important, but it's kinda wierd that i'm having lower stats than other people.

Its not weird at all. Everyone has different apps and settings which affect benchmarks differently. Higher Quadrant scores don't neccessarily translate to better performance either so why does it matter. Also in order to get reliable scores in quadrant you need to run it twice in a row as the OS will kill apps and adjust as the test runs the first time and the second test is always higher and more consistent.

Hi,
Has anyone else tried Wind up knight (Game)?
I love it, very nice to play, but it gets freaking laggy after the first few levels, making it impossible to get much further.
Has anyone discovered anything that will make it run better?
I have had a fiddle with Chainfire 3d, but nothing I do seems to work.
Cheers
Jay.

Hm. That shouldn't be happening at all. Do you have chainfire 3d pro as well? I'm running the game with 4x MSAA and it's still buttery smooth
Yes I do have pro.
I am not using the beta driver though, so I will try that. That is what gives msaa isn't it?
Edit: still happening. What settings are you using with the game? I'm still getting horrible lag. What is a good gpu overclocking apk?
Edit2: also tried overclocking to 1600mhz, but lag is still there- can rule out cpu.

I have the same issue on my At&t Galaxy S ii running unnamed v1.1.0
It's unplayable when you get to the 3rd level on the 2nd page (when barrels start falling and you have to use the shield).
I tried to use setcpu to overclock to 1400 and that just froze the game at boot forcing me to do a battery pull.
Maybe we can find something similar across the roms we're using to see what is causing the issue.
From the developers: "*** Samsung Galaxy S2 Owners: Some users have reported slowdowns, usually starting on Level 4. We're working on it, stay tuned! ***"
As by the title, I get a low score on CleanROM 3.7 based on ICS 4.0.3. My result is just 1700. I haven't found any benchmark result based on this rom but I know that stock should get at least 2400-2600.
Has anybody benchmarked on CleanROM?
Why does it matter? Bragging rights, or pissing contest?
Actually the score doesn't really matter but I've noticed a slowdown after flashing CleanROM.
Haven't noticed any lag at all.
Have you benchmarked quadrant? Also, the slowdown is more noticeable when scrolling menus and some heavy designed websites.
I don't know why people bother with Quadrant, it doesn't work correctly on dual-core phones anyway.
Actually don't really bother on it. But, as I said started to be doubtful of some lags compared to the stock rom and I used quadrant just to create an idea if this was really the case.
By the way. Ver 2.0 is optimized for multicore phones.
Quadrant is a terrible benchmark.
Use Antutu.
Tryied Antutu and got 3387. Checked a bit around and found that a score of 5000-6000 should be normal.
Ok, rerun antutu after restarting the phone and got around 6200. What really bothers me is that even after killing all task and running any benchmark, I notice that scores are usually noticeable lower than on a first run after restarting. And more important, the phone is slower. Seems like services are still running and using available resources.
I use Advanced Task Killer by the way.

Don't ever, ever, ever use task killers on anything past Froyo.
They harm the phone and do not do anything, it's all placebo that it does.
There's countless threads about it.
Delete it.
Done. Thank's for informing. Now I'm asking myself why they are still some of the most downloaded apps on the market when 90% of Android are on GB and up.
Because a friend of friend told them long ago to get it.

Imo the only benches I care about are GPU benches. Quadrant is utter garbage, remove it and do yourself a favor. Nenamark 1 / Nenamark 2 for GPU benching is nice.
well, scrosler puts fastboot in his rom, which kills all running tasks that are not core.
Myself, I'll occasional open System panel app if the phone is acting up. Very occasionally.
On cleanrom I haven't noticed any slowdows.
so i posted my issue in the SII forums by accident!
I ran Antutu cause my keyboard was lagging.. I know people say don't trust benchmarks too much...
but i get a benchmark of 5212 on my S3.. i've seen like 10000K!! and that scores puts me BELOW the Optiums 2x..
i did a factory reset and the score did go to 6435.. but still lower then what i see on the interwebs..
anyone have this issue of low benchmarks?
that happen to me too when i did my benchmark with antutu...
Hey
Does anyone have performance problems like lagging or frame drops while playing Rockstar Games (GTA 3, Max Payne...)?
I noticed it when I moved to JB on my TF201. Whole system is a lot faster tan ICS but GTA 3 is really lagging. On ICS it was really smooth and I played it a lot. I tried different ROMs, different kernels, wipe device etc. Can someone help me?
Ya gaming on JB took a hit. Too bad since this was supposed to be a powerful gaming tab

No troubles at all playing gta3 on my prime.
What ROM are you using? Could you please post some video of you playing it? I would like to see framerate and things like that. Thanks.

i get lag, but have to say graphics are stunning
Well guys, I managed to get it working by NVflashing ICS to my tablet. It is really faster than on JB. Thanks for help.
could you tell me what guide did you follow? also is it a lot of hassle to it?
EA says its a driver problem
