Currently running SHOStock 2.1 and when I change the LCD density using LCD Density Modder or by changing the density in the build.prop my phone won't make it past the initial splash screen (it doesn't make it to the boot animation). Actually none of the methods of changing density actually change the density.
So I have to restore the build.prop from a backup to make it boot. Does anyone know what might be happening and/or how to fix it?
Bump. Anyone?

AOKP rom has this feature built in. And it works. If yer that desperate to change it and have nothing break I would just use that.

So I changed my lcd density to 220 and I really liked that but some apps in the market wouldn't let me download them... So I set it back to normal and its fine but I want the value to be 220 and have my market work. I used ROM toolkit to change my lcd density if that makes a difference.

Are u talking about "root tool" or "rom toolkit"
Im just warning that romtoolkit has been known to cause major problems I believe.
Does romtoolkit say X2 supported? If not get rid of it.
Either way get your android ready.
Easier to change lcd density by editing build.prop using root explorer. That way u KNOW its the only thing changing.
Sorry it was rom toolbox got the app name wrong. So are you saying that if I manually edit it I shouldn't have that problem?

NO DO NOT USE ROM TOOLBOX!!!!
SERIOUSLY plz quit while u r ahead
I don't know if u will have the problem if you do it manual it is just MUCH safer.
Rom TOOLBOX is not for us
And it could just be the appbis not compatible with the lower resolution ...most people raise the value and say it looks sharper (tho looks smaller) personally I like it right at default and only go as far as 20 above default.
Please trust me...there is another thread about toolbox...read that and u will see what I mean
Ok the oy thing changed as density and its back to normal now I already uninstalled romtoolbox

Would it be possible to make a script that can change the density for multiple devices? I'm no expert on this and can change the density manually in the build prop easily enough but I thought it would be neat for other users to be able to just by running the script and choosing the appropriate setting for their device.

There's actually a free app in the market that will change lcd density. It also backs your current up for easy restoration. Just go to market and search lcd density and it should come up.

I've used it before but I didn't like it because it wouldn't stick the same way changing the build prop does.
Nice work by the way CA. I've used your ROMs before and they're great.

Hey guys
I seem to have a problem
I used dpi changer utility to change my dpi to 200 and began to notice that many apps weren't turning up in the app store so I restored it back to 219 and still nothing.
Any idea what's going on?
All help and input greatly appreciated

wel revert back 2 std 240 dpi if ur on stock official rom else try some custom roms which will work at lower dpi than 240
ps- check with 184 dpi or 220 dpi and see before reverting 2 std 240dpi

Restore the DPI back to 240, or you can use 160 for the tablet version of apps, and clear the data for Google Play. You should be able to see the apps again, then just go back to whatever DPI you wanted in the first place.
play store will work good only with eithe 160 or 240 dpi. if you want working market with anyother dpi a fixed market for multiple dpi value is available in net, search for that.
Okay this has been solved.
I used lcd density Modded pro to reset the dpi, reboot, clear the market and reboot once more. All done.
Thanks to everyone that helped

Is it okay to change the razr dpi if so anyone recommend. Good Ond

How is that even possible?
"dpi" is generally referring to "dots per inch", a spec on printers. If he's referring to "ppi", or "pixels per inch", the spec for pixel density on a display, then no- it cannot be changed.
You need a root device and there are apps in the market for this, like dpi changer. Make sure your prepared for the worst if you pick a bad setting. Not everyone has a perfect experience.

Have u tryed a different dpi like with lcd density changer apk

I haven't tried it on my razr, but on my old galaxy s you could simply change it in your build.prop if you have root then reboot for it to take affect.

I have mine set to 230 right now. I personally just used ROM toolbox, but it is just a build prop setting i've also changed my wifi scan interval, ring delay, and proximity sensor delay.

I used Motomizer by J.Y. Daddy. Easy to use. It needs root.

Lower is better right? I have it running on 200, just changed it with a file explorer (open build.prop in the system folder look for the line LCD.density) and try some settings on, google play and some apps don't work properly anymore when density is too low.
dpi lowering failed
I had no problems using LCD Monitor app to lower the dpi on my CDMA RAZR M with ICS, but when I had JB running on it all I got was an endless loop at reboot. I believe it got stuck while shutting down. I forced it and got it to boot to Safestrap but thats as far as I could go. I really do have this phone. Or should I say I hate Verizon for locking the bootloaders. Probably gonna sell it and go back to my trusty D2 and good old Froyo. NEVER had a problem. And dropped that phone hundreds of times on the pavement and it never faulted. I doubt the RAZR will be that tough

I used to keep mine at 200dpi. Stock was 240dpi. But now that I flashed Jelly Bean I havent been able to change it using LCD Monitor app. Anyone know if its possible and if so how to do it? I really miss my 200dpi resolution.
Hello
I have searched forum but having difficulty finding what I need.
What would be reccommended app etc to change screen resolution and what would be recommended dpi for sgs3.
Tried lcd modder from market changed dpi to 280 and phone would not restart stuck on samsung logo. Thank god I made a backup.
If lcd modder is fine have I used a very low value.
Please help.
Thanks

Go to market, download build.prop editor and search for screen density
I hope it will work for you, I never tried it by Galaxy S3
I always did this method by Galaxy S2
Stupid me I did use a very low value. Suggested app works perfect . Thanks again
