[Q] - Nokia Lumia 800

Hi
I need help with my nokia lumia 800. I wanted to change my ringtone to another music. Not the one which were already on the phone, but to my song and I dont know how to do it.
And my another question is how to use zune. I dont know how can I put some music, videos, pix,... on the phone. Is there any option to do it without zune and put some things in regular map on the computer when connect with usb cabel at the phone. (like i was able to do with my old phone nokia n79)
How can i send pictures over bluetooth connection to another device?
THANK YOU for your answers. I will be very pleassure if you will take a minute and help me

This will tell you how to add custom ringtones:
www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/start/create-ringtones.aspx
There is no way to add media to the phone other than Zune at the moment.

http://wmpoweruser.com/getting-started-with-zune-on-wp7/
You can also have Zune auto sync when you plug in your phone to charge via power cable without having to connect it with computer as long as both are on the same network.
No bluetooth pic share yet. We have mail, sms, whatsapp, facebook and live for that.

hide a number
One question: How can I hide my phone number to call someone?
thank you

P500 LG PC Suite 4 unable to sync contacts

First day with the phone, and so much grief. Never did I expect it.
I am able to transfer music etc from the PC Suite in mass storage mode, but i can't transfer contacts. The sync in progress bar comes up and its stuck there without moving. Then it says ''no response from the phone''.
Deleted usb drivers using usbdeview, and re plugged the phone, but no relief.
Was having other trouble with a 4gb SD Card ''preparing SD Card, checking for errors''. Will be trying to return it tomorrow, i think its corrupted.
So put the original 2 gb in it after a factory reset. 2gb card working but cannot sync contacts from pc to phone. is there any other software, way?
Beginning to wonder if i should have bought this phone.... Haven't slept a wink.
Trying another factory reset with the 2gb card in it - Which surprisingly was the only things that works! I can sync contacts, but i think this is a really irritating way. Im gona have to do another one after i get a 4gd SD.
LG Software developers - do ya'll think we like to spend our lives solving your puzzles??!!
The new LG suite software has a warning to you turn on wifi or 3g conection, before doing the sync.
Have you done that?
Cheers

Hmmm. I haven't got that warning, and ive checked that the PC suite version is the latest one. anyhow, i never leave it on, so maybe that is the cause
Without any problems with MyPhoneExplorer. If you download also MyPhoneExplorer app from market, you can use for transfer also wifi and USB.
PC Sync you need to add account in Accounts & sync
Hello, just bought mine and is very happy with it, considering i bought this to replace my iphone 3gs. pretty much a downgrade, but a new ground nonetheless since its my 1st android phone.
now, people having problems syncing, ive been trying to figure this out since yesterday. heres what u need to make sure to sync contacts/mail/calendar:
-make sure u have 3g/H signal on top of your notifications.its network dependent, u might have to adjust it on settings, network, mobile network, access point names. choose one that gives u 3g signal
-make sure 2g only signal option is unchecked
-make sure your phone is visually on. adjust your screen timeout on settings, display, timeout setting and put it on 30 mins so your phone doesnt sleep.
try syncing it again.
hope this helps.
LG Optimus P500 Outlook sync issue resolution
Hi All,
As suggested in this earlier thread, I was able to resolve the outlook sync issues. Though it might sound weird, you need to have the wi-fi or 3G data turned on, for you to be able to successfully do a sync. I kept the wi-fi on and was able to do a sync of my contacts and calendar, though there were some repeat entries in my calendar. I will have to work that out!
Here is what you should be doing:
Connect you phone to the computer
Ensure that you aren't switching on the mass storage
Keep your wi-fi or 3G data turned on
Launch LG PC suite IV and start synching.
There is an update available for the PC sync suite, which i downloaded today. I am seeing an improvement in the performance of the application, when I switch between contacts to messaging to calendar etc., The latest version is 4.2.46.20101118.
Hi all,
Houston we have a problem
I'm having problems connecting my phone with PC Suite. I was able to cennect it in "mass storage mode"and instal PC Suite from it, but i can't connect phone with PC Suite. It starts loading and then the error comes out saying either; "device cannot be opend, it's beeing used by another program" or "not responding". If I then press OK, it throws me into the LG Air Sync, with the same errors.
I tried what @xeboslavvb said, but only with 3G, cos i don't have wi-fi(yet).
Need help, please It's my first smarthphone so i might be missing something obvious.
tnx
Well, you can use MyPhoneExplorer instead, so easy and fast
So i can use it to sync phonebook, update to 2.2.1 etc. It wont "hurt" the phone?
I'll try it. tnx
I would still like to have PC Suite working, so if there are any ideas...
edit:
LOL, i don't know what is wrong with it. I instaled MyPhoneExplorer on computer, connected the phone and then in the MyPhoneExplorer another error " Connection to phone could not be established:No device attached to USB"?
edit2:
All I had to, was to connect the phone to the backplate USB port, the front one only worked in "mass storage mode"...

First, download Myphoneexplorer to your pc(website) and your phone(from market)
then open the program on your optimus, it will give you 2 options:
1-Wifi(Working if your pc and your optimus on the same router)
2-USB(should set Debugging Mode to ON)
select which connection you prefer, then press connect on PC program (you have to select that you're connect an Android phone from tools)
Tadaaaa.. connected
sorry for long post, but it could be useful to noobs
Tnx, but like I said, all i did was connect it via. "backplate" USB port and it worked. Don't know why...
You could sync it to your google account and then use your google account to sync to your phone. I have that and it works great
Hi All... I can synch to LG PC Suite IV...
All...
What I did is just to turn on 3G and Shazaaam!!!...
Actually I don't know why this synch needs from 3G, because basically the connection is through USB...
Hope this can help to you...
Memo.
cannot backup contacts from optimus one

Lg pc suite is too buggy. Try my phone explorer, for sync contacts, sms etc.
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
I also had problems with Lg pc suite, but it seems you do need a working networkconnection (in my case enabling Wifi worked) even if connected to usb!
I guess it is due to bad programming from LG
pcsync worked for me only when using a stable wifi connection
until then i also tried using it in vain
after getting wifi router things changed
i could sinchronize my contacts

[Q] Questions about my new Titan

I recently switched from Blackberry 9700 (Which I loved and still do) to HTC Titan. It a huge change for me (Both good and bad). So far I am trying to get use to the device and going through learning curves.
I have couple of question that I hope someone here can help me with.
Is there a way to have the phone stay off when you I am charging the phone at night? I turn off the phone before I go to sleep and want it to stay off till I wake up in the morning. When the phone is being charged using the wall charger there is no way to turn it off and it has to stay on.
Also how can I activate the LED indicator to flash when I have a new text, new email or even missed call? I would like to have that option as when I in meeting I can put my phone in silent.
Also the OS version on the phone is showing as 7.10.7720.68 and I was reading this forum and people are on version 8.XXXXX and was wondering how do I upgrade to a highest OS version.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
The led flashes by default you can update through the zune software or wait till its pushed to your phone
as far as staying on i dont think it can

Sorry for the stupid question, but do I download the Zune software on my phone? I dont see where I can download the software on my phone.
Thanks again.
No unfortunately you can not power off your phone during charge.
Only thing you can do is use the airplane mode to disable network connection.
The LED will blink (green) for missed call but not for sms or e-mail (i hope they will include this in future update, i have not idea why this is not possible).
Zune is an application for your computer (not your phone). After you installed it, it will start when you plug your phone by USB to your computer.
If a phone update is available, Zune will automatically ask you if you want to update.
If you brought your phone unbranded (not simlocked) you should be able to update in a short time after update release (try to plug your phone to your computer every couple of days)
If you got your phone "branded" from a carrier, then a delay can occur. (Because the carrier decide if the update should be deployed or not.)
The last official revision is 7.10.8XXX something

You don't need to plug your phone to your computer to check for updates. You get a pop up notification on your phone OTA whenever the update is ready. You then plug in your phone to Zune.
You MUST install Zune to your computer as that is the only way you can transfer tons of pics, music and videos from PC to Phone and vice versa. Plus you get updates as mentioned.
Thank you all for your input and our answers.
I wish HTC and ATT would start working on these simple issues or requests. I think lots of people out there want to turn off their phone at night and charge it while its off.
The blinking LED is a must for everyone as we need to be notified of new texts, new emails, new calender notification and so on. I think adding that option this by HTC is not going to be a problem as we already have the LED flashing available for some notification(s).

I'm glad mine does not blink or it would be blinking all the time. I sync hotmail and exchange, and every hour it checks 4 other email accounts..
+1 for blinking for missed call and sms, but not for emails.
Also was very strange at first that I cannot charge while powered off, I think it would be better to train new battery in a such way.
If you synchronize many (or "regular") mailbox, of course the blinking should be switchable.
But if you have a dedicated email address for your phone (with push enabled) like i do, blinking would be useful (like for sms)

Here Drive+ No navigational voice

Hello, as the title implies I cannot get here drive to "talk" to me. The navigation is correct, a blue line is displayed and a flag at the end, but it doesn't talk.
I have tried various things, like reset phone and do a clean install, remove here drive+ and reinstall it, remove maps and redownload them, turn off bluetooth connections, wifi, cellular, restart the phone, remove all navigational voices from the here drive menu and redownload them, but I can't get it to talk. The speed limit warning is working but the navigational voice and the announcing of street names don't work.
Please help, as I cannot use it when I drive alone, I have to take my eyes off the street regularly.
voice must be downloaded and selected in options...
all working fine for me. i have only once problem with voice navigation... during driving voice stopped to work and after restart device (turned off and on) started to work again...
Thanks, voice is downloaded and selected in the options, actually I downloaded US, UK and Greek recorded voices and selected them one by one with no positive result.
Also connection is turned on, battery saver turned off, location turned on, map options are all set to default and map of Greece is downloaded for off-line use. Before 4 months I was hearing the navigational voice but now no.
The only thing I can further think of, is that I live in Greece and I got the phone new from a UK online shop, could this interfere with Here Drive+ ?

Help with icon callisto 100!!

Ok i just got ICON Callisto 100 which I understand is same as omate smartwatch. i'm having several problems that i hope someone can help me with.
1. when i plug the watch (in cradle) into the computer(with the watch turned on), nothing happens. i mean it doesnt show up anywhere on computer as a drive and i want to install new watch faces that i downloaded already to computer. how do i get it to show as a drive? is there some setting i'm missing on the watch to do this? a walkthru from someone that knows would be great!
2. I dont have a sim card in the watch, its just a slave to my htc one phone. i get weather, email, and contacts already got downloaded and seem to update fine. HOWEVER, when a call come in on the phone, nothing happens on the watch. the call doesnt show up and no option obviously on the screen to answer or ignore. help!!!
3. when i get an instant message on the phone, it doesnt show up on the watch. so messaging is apparently not working. help.
Any step by step help with all of these would be much appreciated! thanks!!!!
Unless you turn on USB Storage on the watch, it will not show up on your computer. This is typical for most Android devices and is so common place that I can't even find a guide to link you to.
The Callisto 100 is not really designed to be used as a companion smartwatch so unless apps are installed to add this feature it will not work as a companion. The Master/Companion app for the TrueSmart are specific to the TrueSmart. If you want full TrueSmart compatibility you have to flash the TrueSmart firmware.
I would also suggest that if you have not rooted or run the EnSec Patch, to do so immediately

Galaxy S3 i-9300 Cracked screen + touch screen. Need to view call history or SMS.

I dropped my s3 and now it has a very thin crack on it. First I was able to see some colours but now it is only black - touch screen gave no response aswell. I was also lucky enough to get the battery out on the initial drop so now all I can do is turn the phone on with or without simcard and let it connect to Wi-Fi. There were no SD Cards aswell.
The phone is not rooted, it is just "stock" in every way.
Getting it repaired costs more than what I paid for it while buying it from a friend years ago so I'm not even considering to get it repaired, I will buy a new smart phone, probably a Galaxy Note 4 or 5. (I'm not sure but this info might be useful. My smart phone knowledge is not much but may be there is a way to fix my issue(that I am explaining below) with the use of a Galaxy Note - without disintegrating the new Note)
My problem is that I need to retrieve a phone number that I didn't have the chance to save yet at the time of the drop. The number is probably one of the latest 5 in Call History and there was also an SMS that came from that number - that specific SMS was saved on the phone, not the simcard.
Absolutely nothing happens on computer side(Windows 7 Ultimate) when I plug it via USB. Can't see the content of the phone in File Explorer or anything else. I updated drivers. The phone starts charging, though.
Samsung Kies does not work as it does not recognize the phone when connected via USB and I need to scan the QR Code to connect it via Wi-Fi which is impossible since I can not give any commands to the phone nor see anything but a black screen.
I have this Samsung Link program. It recognizes the phone through Wi-Fi and I can browse files in the phone from my computer. I checked all files, there is nothing SMS or Call History related. On my web searches, I found out that SMS messages are stored in "/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databeses/mmssms.db" but there are no such folders that start with "com.android.providers".
I did not have debugging or other things active at the time and I can not turn anything on or off. It only has Wi-Fi enabled.
I can't even turn the phone off except for pulling the battery out since I need to touch the shut down option that comes in the menu when you hold the power button on the side.
Is there a way to view my Call History or SMS messages from my computer? Please bear in mind that I can not install any apps or give any commands at all to my phone by the use of its screen and it is not recognized by the computer when it is connected via USB.
Most success I've had is the program called Samsung Link that allows my computer to connect to the phone by Wi-Fi and browse files, pictures, videos and such. (Also I did another check for both USB and Wi-Fi connections while typing these. USB still does not work)
I do not have access to another phone to swap screens-motherboards-whatnot.
Kind regards.

You won't be able to view the stuff you're looking for with a file manager on PC, Windows can only view the MTP portion of your sdcard, it cant access or view your system partition which is where mmssms.db is located. You will need to have the device rooted in order to retrieve the files you're after.
You can connect a USB mouse to your device and make selections using the mouse instead of touch, the tricky part is knowing where things are on the display to select them, you can use screenshots of the needed screens from another device like yours. If you can get it to connect to PC via VLC you can share the screen to your PC and navigate that way(you'll need root to access the folder you're after), if you can get it to screencast you can navigate that way also.
Regardless of whether you repair the screen or not, you will have to root the device to do what you're doing.

You can also try flashing a custom recovery(CWM if you can get it, what I'm talking about might not work with TWRP and if it did it would still be tricky). CWM can be used by the hardware keys to make selections where TWRP is touch which wouldn't work for you. With a CWM custom recovery you could make a backup of the device then copy the backup over to PC then extract everything you need. You could even root and flash TWRP then boot to TWRP and connect to adb and use adb to create a backup, there are instructions that are easy to find for creating backups with adb, just make sure you understand the instructions so that you're sure you're retrieving everything you need. Then extract what you need from the adb backup.
Maybe easier but more time consuming, contact your service provider and have them send you a copy of your call history, it should all the numbers you've called during the period of time that you ask them for.
