Xperia s or hayabusa - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

As the title says should I get the Xperia s or wait for the upcoming Sony hayabusa?
Sent from my R800i using xda premium

Two questions:
1. Can you wait?
2. You think you will have money when it launches?
Sent from my X10 Mini Pro using Tapatalk

Hayabusa will be more expensive than Xperia S.
And they are targetting different market segment.

Buy Hayabusa, then... I really want a S4 processor, but my money and time didn't helped me.
Let's wait until unknown13x leak some info to us...

Mint is a phone NOT a tablet. Its a similar device to the Hayabusa, but with a larger screen.

Do I buy the device I have available now or wait for an unannounced rumor? The choice is yours.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2

Okay, there was a recent rumor from 13x in the ICS thread, and since no one wants to wake up the thread that was made earlier about the Hayabusa, I will throw his quote in here...

Hayabusa is confirmed to have 8960 chipset with Mint despite all the rumors. So that's confirmed. I know people will ask why not Pro version and such. I don't know. It will have microSD card slot now. IMO, I'm starting to feel like they will now use the "arc HD" for this device Though I could be wrong, just IMO.

My thoughts are...if this is rumored to be much more expensive than the S, I don't quite see the price/spec comparison.
Yes, it's got the S4 (which in another thread it's appears to be not too much of an upgrade), but it seems to me that it won't be all its worked up to be, and in the end I'm still glad I didn't wait .
Yea, it's got a card slot in it, but I don't see the problem with the S not having a slot? with USB OTG you save loads of space, and the internal memory is large enough to hold anything I need at least .
It's more of "do you want to wait" than "should I wait" in my opinion. Like it always is, if you wait, something better will always come along...when the Hayabusa eventually comes out, you don't think there will be rumors about the S5 phones flying around? It will be released around when the S5 devices could actually come out.
Not saying that it won't be a device to watch for...I just don't think it's much of the upgrade people think it will be, and certainly doesn't make me think twice about getting my S.
/twocents
Edit: S4 does have LTE support, so I guess that could be a plus, but for my use I can't really care and still not worth a rumored price gap between the devices.

There's no info about hayabusa yet...
However, There were some leaks about an unknown device before, which looks like Arc successor

Judging by the image, the front is identical to Arc, but the body is much thicker => much larger battery...why? I guess the reason is that it will have LTE as qualcomm s4 supports 4g
It might not be available in countries which do not have 4g network.
Besides, until hayabusa realeases, there will be other rivals which might temp you away from Sony phones like the upcoming Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5

Does anybody know anything about screen display dimensions?

Any word when we can expect Novathor U9600? U9600 was announced over a year ago, why it's not showing up yet?
In addition, it's interesting to hear that both of new phones will be equipped with S4. What feature will make mint_i that expensive then?

Motorola just launched the Dinara this morning, but because it was shrouded as a China-only handset, no one really noticed. Well the dual-core, 720p, 13-megapixel XT928 is indeed coming to the US, we've learned, as the MB886 (and internationally as the XT885/XT920); like the MB860 Atrix and MB865 Atrix 2, Dinara is expected to land on AT&T, although possibly not as an exclusive.
This is the second time in recent memory that the company has quietly revealed the international version of a handset before launching the American variant: we saw the Droid 3 spoiled by the Milestone 3 only a few months back. However, with the RAZR having only recently begun shipping -- itself upstaging the Bionic -- it seems unlikely that Dinara will be announced in the US until at least CES.
Full specs on China's Dinara can be found in the press release, linked below. Although the XT928 is a 3G device, expect Dinara to be loaded with LTE radios by the time it arrives stateside (regardless of carrier).

Thanks. But I don't see anything really eye catching. meh
Feels like I just got butthurt
I'm disappointed only because they could have put the 13MP camera in the RAZR, it isn't bigger. The RAZR would have costed like 80€ more than now, but well, it could have been a real highend superior device.
And it isn't a chipset limitation: OMAP4430 supports it FULLY.
I'm bored of this. As soon as replacements for Dinara will be out, I'll buy its replacement 13MP camera, mount it in the RAZR and port its driver, other than write a guide on how to mount that $%£$%£ camera in it.
And obviously I hope its pinout will be compatible/adaptable on our RAZR.

I feel like im troll posting, but this is the kinda thing that pulls me towards the Nexus line of phones. The atrix lasted 4 months before it was bested on the same carrier, droid 4 is coming out soon and the bionic came out 2 months ago. HTC does the same thing. Diarrhea of phone productions.
I dont care if they put 33mp camera inside it unless the sensor is great. I would prefer my Zn5's 5mp kodak sensor over anything.

This.
If the Dinara is, like is rumored, an LCD screen and a sub-par camera (if the sensor sucks, 13MP might actually be a downgrade since it will make for noisy shots), I would consider it a downgrade from the RAZR. Also, Verizon > AT&T (in my area, and most others; YMMV).
Nothing to see, here. The RAZR will be outclassed soon enough, but not by this.

So? Just because a new Nexus comes only once a year doesn't mean that they're not outdated quickly. The Nexus S came out right before the emergence of dual-core headsets and was literally outdated within weeks and even the Galaxy Nexus will be replaced soon enough; quad-core devices are literally only months away at this point.
Options are the beauty of this platform.
Want incremental, yearly updates? Go get an iPhone, simple as that.

That's your opinion. I've used both phones and Zn5 is hands down winner against the XT720 when it comes to image quality. XT720 was also good but it wasn't near nowhere to zn5 !
Honestly, that looks like a RAZR had sex with a Droid X. I appreciate the camera and the screen, but their design is moving backwards now..
And Moto is trying desperately to stay on top, just like everyone else. Android is a quickly-evolving platform, there's always something new around the corner to jam into a device. And when potential buyers are looking for a phone, they always want the newest technology. While it might seem like a bad decision to keep throwing phones out every other week that make yours look like crap, in order to hold their own, they kindof have to. That's why you don't see them cranking out seven tablets every week, tablets are more like "okay well as long as we have the newest processor and a decent GPU we're pretty well off let's check back in 4 months"

I have both phones, and XT has so much better color reproduction, sharpness and noise reduction
maybe I have some old firmware on ZN5, but that's for some another thread..
ICS might actually improve the picture quality. There may be mods as well that make things better. You gotta think what's more important, the phone as a whole or the camera.

Mmm HTC hasn't been TOO bad about pushing out devices, and even then the specs are either equal, lesser, or slightly better. Moto just seems to be pushing devices out left and right. It is pretty disappointing to drop $300 + on a device and then a few weeks later you see something with higher specs come out. The HD screen vs qHD does make a fairly decent difference from what I've noticed so far. Tbh the upcoming Nexus phone isn't anything revolutionary or spectacular except for ICS. Android phones are just coming out too fast and hopefully it slows down a bit.
damn, i can't wait for this phone! looks like a mean upgrade from my current one.

apart from that, no idea what you are getting at
Yes. Lower res screen, better video and better cpu. Simple as that. I would like a HD screen tho'..
S2 has a better screen, faster processor and SD card expansion slot. It will be better with ICS IMO.
Ofcoz it will!!!
Its GPU is already better, and it has to render less pixels, so it will surely beat it.
depends what you mean by "beat it"
does it really matter though? will you stop enjoying your phone if it is no longer seen as top dog?

Yup, if you're the type of person that gets their enjoyment out of being a show off.
Normal people supposedly bought the SGS2 because it fit their needs, how would the Galaxy Nexus make the Galaxy S2 less worthwhile of you? Unless of course, your goal is to have the latest and greatest, in which you should just wait and see which will be better and if the Nexus is better, pay some money and switch.
And I have to laugh at all the SGS2 owners in here defiantly saying the Galaxy Nexus has a poorer screen... sure the Nexus has a PenTile arrangement which on the face of it is a disappointment, but I'd personally wait until I see a Galaxy Nexus in person before passing judgement.
I did and it does not have gradient issue of sgs2 (actually all super amoled plus models, including infuse, i tried not just ours). Nuf said!
That does not mean I'm switching, in fact, no hell!
But screen on sgn is much better, you gotta give them that. Well you don't have to but it's the truth.

Can't agree more, sometimes we tend to rush to judge things too quickly.
And on topic, I do think the SGS2 will be awesome with ICS. Awesome enough to make 90% of SGS2 owners not feel like they need to switch. Think they'll generally still be on the same tier.

No matter which way you put it, the cpu slaps the nexus cpu around and it shows. Played with one today. Also, the screen is better on sgs2. Not hating, just disappointed
It already beats the nexus in terms of hardware and just about everything else... the nexus just has 4G of which isn't even useful to 99% of the world (no ssrsly). Oh and ICS... which isn't that big of a deal at all.
EDIT: Wtf

Do you know anything about either phones, let alone spelling? If you put an 'a' in definitely then you're definitely an a-hole.
P.S. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3621&idPhone2=4219
The SGS2 beats the Nexus in almost everything... :/
Nexus:
No MicroSD
Only 5MP Camera
Only 1.3MP Secondary Camera
No Radio (this is a big letdown to some)
Half as much 'quoted' talk time when compared to the SGS2.
No Gorilla Glass????
Overpriced (given the above)
SGS2:
No 4G
No ICS (Yet)
Hardly an 'Upgrade' from the SGS2.. ICS isn't that much better than Gingerbread. On top of that who really needs 4G?
But hey, don't take it from me, I don't know crap all about the Nexus. Though I do know my own SGS2 inside out.
I agree with 'soraxd' the SGS3 is going to tear the newest iPhone (lol what a joke) to shreds and absolutely squash any hopes of any manufacturer getting even close.
Believe it lol!

I wish I could have as many phones as you.. What do you even need all 3 phones for

IPhone 5 Vs Samsung GS III?

Two phones that have a solid user base tingling around it.
1) Samsung Galaxy S III
2) Iphone 5
Who do you think will win the race based on your expectations with both the brands ? Give reasons if possible.
GS3
-Because it is android.
I agree but don't you think the holographic features are just too awesome?
"Ever wondered why??"
I see some stupid posts going around, but this is up there with the most stupid of them. Neither of these phones exist, we know nothing about them, and this is the Android subsection.
I guess that is why I asked about the personal opinion of people who have experience with both Samsung and iPhone phones... and what the people expect from both the brands...

iPhone has far better build quality then any android phone. If you want your phone to actually get timely updates then you have to get a Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus, which really restricts your "choice" to 2 phones. Meanwhile a 3yr old iPhone 3GS gets iOS 5 day 1 and still runs smoother than most android phones with 5x better hardware.

My SGS2 get updates continously, no problem there.
Of course new major releases like ICS takes 3-4 months from google/nexus release to release for other phones but that is simply part of the business model. And it is in fact mainly positive, because it gives plenty of time for developers to adapt apps for the new major version before average Joe gets the update.
Why would it be better if Google delayed Nexus ICS just to give Samsung/HTC etc time to adapt it to their phones?
Nexus and sgs2 have a good history of successful updates of Android series...

Do I expect something from either one of them???
Hmmm, honestly I don't know what to expect.
What are they anyway, I should have said "what will they be anyway"
For my own expectation? Oh, sure, very high
Quad-core 2.0GHz processor? 4GB RAM? 32G space? 5G ready? 1080 native resolution? unsigned bootloader? ability of flashing any custom ROM?
Is it too much to expect?

GS3 because it absolutely needs to be. iPhone 5 can rely on the name and not the hardware.

What's your reason for getting this beast that is XZU?

I thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts since the Z Ultra is more of a niche device.
For me, it's mainly because of the screen size as I wanted something more of a small tablet. I was deciding between this and Nexus 7 FHD LTE but ultimately went with the Z Ultra. Expandable memory was a huge factor in this. Plus I want to try out Sony again. I like them.
So what's your reason?

Had a Nexus 7 2012 and a htc sensation, my sensation died and started to feel annoying by always have to carrying both phone and tab. Started to look for a phablet and found the XZU, meanwhile I saw the specs of the new n7 and got really disappointed. The XZU is the ultimate phablet, no real competitors yet (galaxy mega is too far behind). Sony really worked on the build quality, and this is a real plus, plastic devices can't be call a high-end devices.

Well, I wanted to get the biggest device out there because my fingers are quite fat. I'm not saying that I'm fat but my hands are ..well ..kind of wide and thick. 4,7 inches is just to small for my hands.
I am forever a crackberry user after having the 9900 before my One X and the Bold series is hands down the best devices for typing on. But they are small, and BB phones are..just very boring.
Why I chose SONY and to continue with android is because the user friendly unlocking process of the bootloader just like HTC without using some exploit or bug. And I got a bit too comfortable with the idiot safe and too stable HTC devices and roms. I had the Desire PVT4, One X endeavour and now my dad got the silver HTC One which I'm in charge of flashing new roms and updates on so naah, I wanted to try something new and exciting with premium built quality! :fingers-crossed:
Hello, I will order my XZU in a few days. I already got a 6,44" Smartphone and im happy with its size, its perfectly fits in my jeans pocket and in my hands so i wouldn't have any problems with the size of the XZU. It is waterproof, looks pretty good and it have the snap800 thats why i decided to order it.
The camera isn't a problem in my eyes, when i want to take high quality pictures then i dont use a smartphone.
I had the Galaxy Note, and it was time to move on, so i was looking for something with a big screen. I first wanted the Xperia Z, since i really like Sony's Omni Balance design, but the screen just ruined the whole thing for me, so i checked the HTC One out, but the screen is too small. I had no idea after that, so i waited and suddenly Sony announced the Ultra, and i checked out their ad, and i started laughing since it's so huge. I dismissed it on the spot and continued with my day. A couple of days later i though about it again and i checked some more videos of it, and i suddenly said to myself, "i must have it". And that pretty much it.
Why didn't i go with the Note 3? I've had a Note for almost two years, and i wanted to leave Samsung. They are stuck IMO, and the only thing they keep pushing out now are big or small versions of an existing product, and they are still shoving crap into TouchWiz. No thanks.

Not to mention ATT looks like they locked the bootloader on Note 3. Not sure if Tmo did the same, but it looks like they share the ATT LTE bands. I still felt that the C6806 with LTE on ATT and larger screen is better than any other device.
I come from the Note 2 and have been maintaining TWRP on the Note1 ATT and all Note 2 devices. I want to see if I can use motochopper on the C6806 since I don't trust vroot as much.
I just really wanted a small fast tablet with FHD, went round them all and finally the XZU emerged; some only dual core, some low res, some no expandable storage. Albeit the XZU is designed to be primarily a phone first, as a tablet it also excels at getting the job done. I travel internationally for work purpose, often to destinations way off the grid such as Borneo, so space is always an absolute premium.
Of course the display, I have never owned a mobile device that literally people comment on the quality of the image reproduction, especially films. Maybe I lucked out, equally I have not seen better on a mobile.
My only concern is 16Gb, bigger aps, ever larger data 32Gb should be the default on premium products. As the Galaxy Note 3 now comes with 32Gb as default it`s simply a matter of time before others follow suit, my only concern is the XZU is such a niche product it may not sustain...

Right! My Note feels like something from Toys R Us now. When you buy an Ultra, you'll get what you pay for; quality build. When you buy a Samsung, you get a plastic duck with a lot of gestures.

Yes, they're really good at hardware specs, but not the hardware itself and the software. Plastic and TouchWiz doesn't scream "i paid top dollar for this". When i buy a Porsche i expect the best interior, exterior and performance. Samsung is good at performace. They are the Corvette of the mobile world, awesome performance but ****ty build quality (Corvettes are 101% plastic). Sony is the Aston Martin. Stylish, really fast (and expensive).
Not saying that Sony is perfect, because they're not, but they're the closest i'll get to high performace, openess and build quality in one device.

Replacement phone model alternatives?

What model are going to trade for with your recall replacement and what is compatible in your opinion?
I am not thrilled about the glass with this phone (small crack near volume rocker)and many reports in the wild about scratches this early into release. The touch, especially the buttons feel a little less responsive than my not 5 and i swear my internet lags, especially when loading pages (but not positive on that one).
I am not one to complain about performance when each new model is first released. I have been in the game for years and years and think these few complaints with the note 7 may have leaning to pick another phone for my recall replacemt. I do like the note 7 though so tough decision.
Too bad more new phones were released in this unfortunate time
A recall for about 1 out of half a million batteries? That's still better odds than a few grains of peanut in your ice cream (which can kill some people). A new Note 7. With the odds being 1 out of half a million, the odds that the second one is also defective is probably too great to calculate on a 64 bit computer.

If rumors are correct, the Nexus Google Sailfish and Marlin phones are supposed to be released this month. The Marlin apparently has a 5.5" QHD AMOLED screen. Other rumored specs seem similar to the Note 7.

lmao you wanna go with LG? the company that consistently have quality control issues about GPS not working and overheating issues? Even though they got thousands of cases and refuse to do anything about it? Compared to Samsung where 35 devices have exploded or caught on fire and suspects about a possible 400k affected devices and they doing a full blown 2.5mill recall? ha you're funny and so is loyalty.
I'm a note 7 user and i haven't owned a Samsung device since 2010 which was my first smartphone and one of my best phones ever and since then i've moved onto Oneplus, Nexus etc so i'm not even remotely close to a Sammy fanboy but i'll tell ya what, i've only owned one LG device since back in 2012/2013 i think and it had such crappy GPS performance, literally every single device "Optimsu F7" and LG blew it over like it was nothing and said its not a problem. Now its happening to their LG G5 plus overheating issues. The day that LG told me and thousands of other customers who paid for the F7 that the GPS is functional and nothing is wrong is the day i vowed to never buy another LG device. loyalty is a funny thing and right now Samsung has my objective loyalty of how they're handling this situation.
They only did it because they didn't want to get sued. The voluntary recall was the loop hole for them.
I'll keep my note 7 until they have replacement note 7 in. Mine doesnt get hot from charging or using it. I'll watch it but i agree 35 cases out of how many phones? That's pretty good odds and nothing's flawless.

I dpnt trust any carrier that says they will let you use a loaner phone until the corrected version is released. So easy for them to say well thats your phone. You traded your note 7 for that Phone. So enjoy it.

I'm straight swapping my existing (non defective) Note 7 for the NIB unit Samsung is going to hand over; whenever they may arrive that is.
.
As a long time (since the 2) Note series user, I may be a little biased when I say -
There is no good reason to move away from this generation of the Note.
While I do agree there currently is a noticeable performance lag when certain functions/tasks are carried out; app switching and the recents key being the most prevalent for me. Being software related, it's only a matter of time before any and all performance issues are resolved. Besides, these things are to be expected when adopting the latest and greatest.
Personally, I'm not putting any stock in the devices' (supposed) susceptibility to scratching. To be fair - I am acutely mindful of the how, what, and where my phone is being placed. As such, the device is never in a position to suffer a scratch.
All petty complaints aside, this iteration of the Note is still a vast improvement over the 5.
The way I see it is if you enjoy the device and make use of all that is has to offer - What's the point in abandoning the device for a lesser one? Especially over some silly recall, that probably could have been avoided had these people used the proper, quality, cables to charge the device in the first place.
I'm curious to know what other device(s) you're considering in it's place?

I was seriously looking into the v20. It's not as nice looking but the phone will most likely be rooted, good cameras, audio, interchangeable battery, IR blaster, can actually use a tempered glass screen protector, hopefully not as much lag as the note 7. Anyone else considering it??
