[Q] min zoom level webview ics - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My mail client is not able to show html emails in fullscreen.
Is there a posibility to change the minimum zoom level on webview?
Is this a value in the kernel or rom? Possibility to mod system file?
The problem is only on ICS, no problem on gingerbread.
Some clever guys (or girls) that can help with this?
Thanks in advance!!!

Nobody knows what's the problem?
90% of the html mails are not readable full screen, you have to move around to see the whole mail ...

[Q] HTC Sense Email unusual config

Hi..
I'm sure that I've tried every possible search for this and found nothing yet:
I need to change the HTC Sense email tab/app so that it points to 'Outlook email' without settng up an account!
There are 5 or 6 HD2's that I'm responsible for configuring (a mix of energy roms [Sept 20] and stock roms) and we use Novell Groupwise mobile server, which uses Nokia Intellisync.
On the device, you install the Intellisync client which collects all the email/contact/calendar info and shoves it into the respective application on the device.
Now this works fine with the calendar and contacts apps - you open them and all the info is there, but when you look at the Sense Email tab, it shows that there are 8 (for example) new/unread emails but when you open the tab, the sense interface says: "No Mail Account --- Tap to add a mail account" .
However, the email is there, and it's partially seeing that, as it displays the notification on the mail tab. And if you go into windows messaging, or slide across from the text tab, you can get to the outlook mail easily.
So of course my question is: How do I change this?
Thanks for looking, and for your help..
Fred
Anyone have any ideas at all to sort this out?
I cannot be the first person to have come accross this surely?
Could anyone point in the right direction in the registry? I was looking through it this morning, but couldn't find a reference to the email account location..
Please share if you have any ideas at all..
Anyone? Please help if you can, I really need this fixing!
Thanks..
Same issue...
I am having the same issue here...Anyone got a solution for this?
Thanks!
Paul
Can I persuade any of the very talented developers here on XDA devs to look into this please?
I don't know if it's a big or small problem, except the symptoms are a big problem to me!
Please, please... would someone help us? This is important...
I forgot to add, this is also an issue on the other WM6 devices I look after - this morning it's an XDA Ignito (HTC Diamond 300) with a newly flashed Energy ROM.
It's needed even more on this device than the others due to the tiny resistive screen..

[REQ] FixContactPhotos

Dear Android developers,
Most of you should be aware of this on going issue with Android:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=49e2b1adea1aa11c&hl=en
Basically, when you synced with GMail Contacts, the contact photos will be replaced with the low resolution 96x96 pixel resolutions that are stored in the GMail Contacts.
So, is anyone up to an application to workaround this?
I have a very good idea, an application that does this:
- Start the application
- Click the "Replace" button
- Then the application will search all image files in folder /sdcard/ContactPhotos
- For each matching image file name with "<lastname>,<firstname>.png", the application will replace the contact photo with that image file
- Process until finished with all stored image files
- Done
The idea of this application, user could easily replace all contact photos using locally stored high resolution image files, in one go.
Whenever, our contact photos are replaced with low resolution from GMail Contacts or after flashing a new ROM, or other means, we can easily restore them back with high resolution easily!
So, please, if you are capable of making this kind of app, you could be the one who solve this years of Android problem.
Thanks.
just sign in to FriendsStream widget with facebook or twitter, and sync with all contacts!
this will fix this issue and images will be clear and hq
Very nice
Should be said that it's a ICS speficic problem
This is not about Facebook/Twitter contact sync.
This is about GMail Contacts sync.
Those two are different, if you dont know.
And not all people (contacts) are on Facebook/Twitter!
I also heard that even with FriendsStream/SyncMyPix, to sync with Facebook, you will not get high resolution image.

No, this is not ICS specific problem.
This problem is known issue since as long as 2008:

Wonder why we don't have workaround like this suggested app ...

Well would say it is The actual size when people call is decided in the phone and people app. Android other than ICS will still be limited to the small sizes. Only ICS supports 256x256 pictures and will therefore only benifit for a server upgrade / this app

Moving to Q&A
In GB, I can replace contact photo with high resolution, no problem with that.
But once you sync with GMAIL Contacts, it will be replaced with low resolution.
Have you read the original Google bug tracking started on 2008?
You should, then you would understand.

If you read carefully, I was not asking to solve a problem as by tweaking or changing configuration.
I was asking someone who could write an application that does specific task, replacing contact photos using high resolution images stored locally.
Got that?

Did anyone actually do something like this? Or found an existing app that does something like it?
The closest thing I have found is this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eclipson.ContactPhotoFinder
But while it is possible to search your local storage, it doesn't perform a search & match for "Contact Name" and "Contact Name.jpg"...

[Q] How to automatically send a directory to my mail?

Hi,
I have no knowledge about android programming (but I know java language) and I wish to know if exists an app that automatically sends a directory (zipped or in any compression format) to a specified email address every day, for example.
Thank you very much for your support and I apologize in advance if I posted in a wrong area.
Maybe Tasker can do it (it's a little difficult to understand, there are tutorials out there).
Is there a hidden way to do it? Or a way to hide this app?
There are some Launchers that can hide apps (Nemus or Holo).

Android email app

Hi
anyone know anything on what i think is a 2MB limit on opening attachments through the built in android email app?
Wanted to go through the source and locate but thought id ask on here first to see if anyone has managed to edit the APK with the limit removed.
Ive had a look around and too much of whats available has way to much of the exchange security policy stuff ripped out
As our mail is through exchange we cant exactly use gmail as a solution right now (which i believe has a much higher limit)..
any ideas?
Thanks

[Q] Viber - How are user image names calculated?

Does anyone know this? Viber saves images on the sd card and they seem to have a hash value as name... They even change the name if a new image is downloaded for the same contact...
Actually I looked through the code but I could not find out what they are hashing to get the name...
Does anyone have any idea? They have a database with Viber users and a column image with a hash as well, but it's not the same as the images file name...
Any hint or help is well appreciated...
PS: I have an app (with root) that enables syncing contact pictures with social networks and with social apps. Therefore it would be nice to somehow find out how's pictures are available in the viber folder... at least for root users who can access the databases of viber...
Did you ever figure this out? I'm wrestling with the same issue.
