Hey all
I am more avtive at the fascinate forums , got a O1 too.
Rooted it a few months back and flashed the recovery too.
Currently on GB v20G
Now want to flash some custom Rom which should be snappy and good on battery.
The o1 is used just for calls and all atm and ocassionally for other usage.
Would appreciate if some one can point me to a good rom along with the installation instructions.

Oxygen in my opinion. As you don't need much customization, this would be the best choice

Use the firmware on the basis of official 2.3.3. For example:

Power+home+vol down and you select in recovery with menu, before flashing ROMs you must wipe system and boot

there is no huge different betwen bateries. but for performance, you can try GTR already V5 now.

Now i need to change coz i am seriously bored with oxygen an the camera is pathetic as well with no brightness control.

Need to root / flash the phone of course.. ..
here are the specs on it:
USA AT&T
Samsung SGH-1777
Android 2.3.4
Baseband I777UCKH7
Kernal 2.6.35.7
I read thru the post.. downloaded Odin, Clockwork and updated my Kies to the latest.
Put the phone it debug mode, rebooted (power/down/home) to get to flash screen... I use Odin.. it sees the phone.. I choose the rom ( Litening rom v6.1) and only have the 2 boxes checked. hit start.... and nothing ever happens on the phone.
Am I missing something?? Please advise,

OP, can you do us all a favor, and when you brick your phone from a lack of attention to details, like say, using a ROM actually made for the device you are using, or flashing it the right way, that you just accept the fact that YOU broke your phone.
Please do not make everyone else suffer by returning it for RMA and claiming ignorance, all that does is increase the costs that the rest of us have to pay. We should not have to pay for stupidity.

yes it is really stable really easy to use (like iphone) and I'ill optimise this ROM to make a powerful and battery friendly ROM

I'll be happy to see MIUI ROM on my neo. It's my favourite ROM for Android device. I used it on Acer Liquid and was very impressed =)

Yes I did, found some, but I think banned from xda because of paid app included in their rom..
And there are endless possibility that there are so many developer from all around the world such as china, russia, india, texas, the moon or other planet with foreign language.. or maybe some guy from nextdoor develop cool rom that have cool 3D interface that doesn't want to share with xda, unless been paid(i know license and everything os,aosp don't be gay u know what I mean, but it's up to the developer itself).

p/s:I woke up the next day and realise why am I asking this question.
im looking to download cm7 on my dad's optimus one cause official gingerbread is just too slow. does cm7 come with any speed increases, or is it just for the features? all he uses the phone for is call and text, so all i need is a SPEEDY and stable rom (something that I won't have to update ever again).
or is cm9/any other rom stable enough, and does it slow down the phone at all?

(this is for the canadian (koodo) version of the optimus one, but i'm guessing they're all the same right?)
If you want speed and stability, go with the gingerbread oxygen. It's much faster than cm7, and it's pretty much stable. If you want features though, you'd have to go with cm7

stock froyo is the fastest rom ever!
If you don't use that phone, don't mess with it.
Stock is always more stable and if he only uses the phone for calls and txt, don't mess it up for him because problems can appear on off the market OS's like wakelocks or reboots and I'm guessing dad won't be to happy about that

Try them out.read the OP on different rom's and find one or two u like and flash them..
But reading is learning and the more u learn,the more u can avoid mistakes and bootloops
