Hello all, I have a HTC Amaze 4G phone and I recently unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM 5.0.2.6 Recoveries and the Faux 0.0.8 Kernel. Then I also installed the Energy Sense ROM 3.0 and got it installed and everything was working great and dandy. I was able to use my phone! Cool!
But here is the problem I'm having. I turned it off for the night and plugged it in to charge. Woke up this morning to try powering it on it wont power on. Here are the problems I'm having:
When I push the power button I can see that there is a -very- faint white line that I can move up and down with the vol. up and vol. down keys. Along with pushing the home key which moves it as well. (They also respond by vibrating upon press) The screen is so dark I can't see what it is saying but I know that at least it's responsive in some way.
I've tried removing the battery and putting the battery back in, plugging in the phone (Which sometimes I get a blinking orange light other times it will stay a solid orange)
What went wrong? Why will doesn't my phone boot correctly? And why does it boot into the recovery menu with the brightness turned virtually down to 0? Any help would be awesome! Thanks so much in advance.

Hi, I have rooted my phone and everything was fine. Went to try and go into recovery, power + vol. down, and the phone vibrated and few times and the indicator light started flashing green. The phone will not boot up and I have absolutely no idea what happened and I don't know what's going on now. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi,
My Evo 3D was working fine, and then all of a sudden (no physical or moisture damage) it shut off and will not reboot.
Tried battery pull, tried several chargers. The LED goes red for about 2 seconds, then turns off, screen doesn't do anything.
If I unplug the phone, the LED stays red for a few seconds but is incredibly dim, then turns off.
The phone is rooted, but I am not running a custom rom at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Do youve got a custom recovery?

Yes on my sd, but I can't get into bootloader.. sorry i'm quite new at this.
Same thing happened to mine. By the time I took it to Sprint, the red light wouldn't come on at all. You'll need a replacement.
Hello,
I had the same thing.
You must conncect the phone to pc than go to the dirctory where you have installed adb and try adb reboot boatloder
You will see that the phone waked up.
Thats what i did and works for me.
sorry for my bad englisch
Thanks! I appreciate the help

some other help? the same thing happened to me today, but i cant open the mobile folder in pc when i plug it... it is here though
i updated clockwork recovery via rom manager today.. so its related?
edit: i already tryed another batterry and it didnt helped but it seems it is working now again just like that...
you have CWM which does not let charge while off (your battery is probably dead) flash revolutionary recovery...the only stable recovery for the GSM E3D out
i have the exact same problem, i am running clockwork mod (rooted) and with a flat battery the light will only come on for a few secs then drop out again, I did finally get the thing to charge and the best explanation i can give is a bit vague im sorry but i was so frustrated and trying so many things at once, just keep it plugged in , I know the light wont be on but there must be a trickle of a charge, eventualy I was able to boot holding what I remember to be the power and the camera button, slowly it crawled back to life, first just the splash screen (45secs) then the touchkeys lit, then a full boot, I then hit the wifi off button the second the homescreen loaded and very quickly turned the screen off so as to minimise the battery usage as it would have been only just bootable... the orange light remained and after 10 mins or so i was game enough to pop the screen back on (3% charge after 10 mins so be careful) and confirm that all was not lost... the date and time remained in tact..
so you can boot/charge from flat, but only just and only if you stuff about and trick it into life. I know this info has more or less been covered before but I hope it helps somewhat.
*my nokia 5210 stayed charged for more than half a week... grumble grumble
ok,adb reboot boatloder helped me. thanks for sharing. i knew that cwm recovery has this problem but i just thought that i broke my phone....pff...stupid recovery.
Had the same problem. Take battery out, put it back, hold power button and connect charger. A splash screen should appear.
What custom recovery are you running.if its cwm well that may be the culprit I had the same problem if you can get it to boot I advise you to use 4ext recovery that's what I'm using as my custom recovery and it works perfect and I no longer have the issue's that your having you should look into it good luck

Also see if you can boot into Bootloader if you can then you can flash another custom recovery like revolutionary version of cwm that will get you going

This worked!
So hey guys, I was just playing a game this afternoon when my phone suddenly went black (while being in the charger).
Now the red notification light is flashing and the keys at the bottom are also lighted. The keys do give a vibrating feedback, but my screen keeps black.
Holding power-button results in flashing keys, but when i release the power button nothing is changed to the previous described situation..
Any idea's what to do..?

Update:
It rebooted again! After lots of tries and wondering if i should take it back to the dealer i found the solution!
What i did was:
- Press and hold volume down button, add and hold the power button.
- Wait till the capacitive keys start flashing and then release the volume down button, but keep holding the volume button!
- Now my phone boots normally.
Not sure if this normally makes you boot into recovery, but it made me able to power my device back on!
are you completely on stock or did u flash any rom/kernel?
there are two things i can think about:
you maybe flashed a oced kernel, set it to performance (locked it at 1700ghz quad maybe) and put it on the charger while gaming. if you did that i can imagine that your device just overheated but you should have realized that by holding it in your hands while gaming.
another option is that it's just stuck.
do you have debugging mode enabled? then try if adb can find your device and maybe even kill processes or reboot
other thougt: as long as you don't have twrp as recovery let the battery run down and just plug it on the cherger over night as long as the hardware is allright it should turn on again

Sorry, but what is a oced kernel..? It is possible that it overheated, but i have put it down for 3/4 hours now and still nothing changed..
I have it enabled, but my computer doesn't find my phone anymore so i cant use adb..
And 3rd i do have twrp as recovery, but I don't really get your poin on that. I have to run the battery down, but still put in on the charger over night?
edit: It just went out of battery because the red light stop flashing. Then i put it on a charger and it started flashing again..
now what..
Re: [Q] black screen, flashing red light
On my last HTC device. Flashing red light meant you killed your battery.

You shouldn't have let your battery die when you have TWRP because the recovery doesn't allow you to charge your phone when its dead and that is a known error. Might be time for you to get a batter replacement my friend.
Re: [Q] black screen, flashing red light
something similar happened to me last night only i wasn't gaming and my battery was dead. i plugged it in and turned it on and my system ui stopped. so I reboot to fix but screen went black and lights went off (except for red led) but didn't come back on. tried to turn on with power button but nothing happened. i held power but for longer and got flashing buttons and red led went out. tried again and same but led started flashing.. another try and just got flashing buttons.. gave it a couple minutes and tried again and it came on. battery was @ 0 after boot. i also have twrp

Hey Team!
I've been rooting and tinkering with android phones since the HTC Dream days. Normally, most troubleshoots I can overcome on my own fairly routinely over the years. I kind of feel like I've met my match on this one and I could REALLY use you guys' help!
Here's the story:
So my phone, of course, is the T-Mobile HTC One. What I've done so far? Unlocked the Bootloader. Added a CWM custom recovery. Currently using a 1.29....16 OTA clone deodexed Rom created by Team Nocturnal. I'm using a Faux123 Kernel and have it overclocked to 1.9 GHz with all of his suggested UV settings and Intellidemand Governor chosen. I have the Xposed Framwork installed as well. I've had all of this running smoothly together for weeks with not one random reboot or lockup. The phone has literally been flawless. Until this.....
So, i'm listening to music with headphones plugged in for my Spotify app and relaxing. About 10 minutes into the music session, the music stops. I look down and the app seems frozen. I pick up the phone and turn the screen on. As I swipe the screen to unlock, the phone freezes. I turn the screen off by pressing the power button. From this point on, the screen will not turn back on at all!!
What I've tried:
1) The usual hard reset via power button and volume down. Even power button by itself. The capacitive buttons just keep blinking, but the device never reboots at all.
2) I've tried plugging the device to a computer. The usb connection responds because the computer makes a sound. When I look at the device manager, it does show that it detects the M7 device to be connected. However, when trying to use any ADB commands, it simply states the device is not found (running Windows 8, btw).
3) Freaked out for about 10 minutes before regaining my composure and thinking of one last thing. Only thing I can think left to do is pull the battery. Of course this isn't possible with the HTC One, so my only comparative option would be to let the battery drain completely. The irony is that I boast so much about my phone's battery life, so I know that I'll be waiting 2-3 days for this to happen before I can hope for resolution after.
I've tried to be as specific as possible here guys. I'm far from an expert, but I've owned 4 or 5 android phones since 2008 and have never bricked one. If anyone knows anyway to bring my phone back from this RANDOM sleep of death, please let me know so.
Forever Grateful!
put it under a bright light while holding power or power+volume down
When home and back button blink, do they keep blinking and did you try holding the power button. This happen to me the home and back button kept blinking and the display stayed black, so I kept holding the power button, and the screen turned on... so, not sure if you already tried this anyway, good luck
Thanks for your help everyone! The bright light technique worked!!!
I had the same problem and letting mine completey die worked tried the brightlight and didn't work checked two days later it died put on charger and bam right on

i am having the same problem, its a pain in the ass to get a light on the sensors, could it be that its happening because i also use a charger for a different android phone? had a old lg mytouch 4g charger. maybe i should let the battery drain completely. i want a real solution instead of having the phone screen shut off and stay off on me.
Hello guys.
Today I decided to flash a custom ROM on my HTC One M8, I've installed TWRP recovery, and wanted to wipe my phone before I install the ROM. I was dumb enough to delete the ROM .zip file itself, and then I decided to push it with ADB and my PC USB Cable through "push myrom.zip /sdcard" command. Everything went ok, file was successfully pushed, but after that TWRP Recovery got stuck at black screen (LED is ON), phone power off button didn't work, nor power off+volume down did not.
Then I tried to "adb reboot recovery" but the black screen didn't go, instead of that I now have "adb devices" telling me the "device is offline". :crying:
So I am stuck at working black colored screen with LED on, I can't power off the phone, and ADB says that usb is offline now.
Any help please? How do I power down my phone to reboot it? If I will wait my phone battery to die itself to charge it and turn on my phone, it will take ages?
P.S. Forgot to mention, the phone has been in this blank screen condition for about 2 hours so far, and the battery (or proccessor?) seem to be working pretty hard, because phone's back panel is hot just like when I am playing a heavy graphics-intense 3D game on it. So phone is doing something, but not responding to buttons. I hope the battery will drain faster this way, so the phone will power off and I will be able to charge it and reboot at last?
The problem has been resolved!
The problem has been resolved! :victory:
At last, after being in that "rather dead than alive" condition for 6+ hours, my HTC One M8 battery got fully drained and the phone powered down.
I plugged it in to charge and it's alive again! :good:
P.S. If someone else will have this trouble in the future: on another forum people suggested me to press&hold all the buttons simultaneously on the phone (there are 3 of them: power button, volume up and volume down) - the phone should reboot after that.
P.S.S. Guys, if someone has a tech-related blog or a website, you could do an article about this problem and it's solution, because I haven't found anything about this on the Web, and figured out to wait for battery to drain just with my own logic. Anyway, such an article would be helpful for the Android community.
