[SOLVED] black screen, flashing red light - HTC One X+

So hey guys, I was just playing a game this afternoon when my phone suddenly went black (while being in the charger).
Now the red notification light is flashing and the keys at the bottom are also lighted. The keys do give a vibrating feedback, but my screen keeps black.
Holding power-button results in flashing keys, but when i release the power button nothing is changed to the previous described situation..
Any idea's what to do..?
------------------------------------------------
Update:
It rebooted again! After lots of tries and wondering if i should take it back to the dealer i found the solution!
What i did was:
- Press and hold volume down button, add and hold the power button.
- Wait till the capacitive keys start flashing and then release the volume down button, but keep holding the volume button!
- Now my phone boots normally.
Not sure if this normally makes you boot into recovery, but it made me able to power my device back on!

are you completely on stock or did u flash any rom/kernel?
there are two things i can think about:
you maybe flashed a oced kernel, set it to performance (locked it at 1700ghz quad maybe) and put it on the charger while gaming. if you did that i can imagine that your device just overheated but you should have realized that by holding it in your hands while gaming.
another option is that it's just stuck.
do you have debugging mode enabled? then try if adb can find your device and maybe even kill processes or reboot
other thougt: as long as you don't have twrp as recovery let the battery run down and just plug it on the cherger over night as long as the hardware is allright it should turn on again

Sorry, but what is a oced kernel..? It is possible that it overheated, but i have put it down for 3/4 hours now and still nothing changed..
I have it enabled, but my computer doesn't find my phone anymore so i cant use adb..
And 3rd i do have twrp as recovery, but I don't really get your poin on that. I have to run the battery down, but still put in on the charger over night?

edit: It just went out of battery because the red light stop flashing. Then i put it on a charger and it started flashing again..
now what..

Re: [Q] black screen, flashing red light
On my last HTC device. Flashing red light meant you killed your battery.

You shouldn't have let your battery die when you have TWRP because the recovery doesn't allow you to charge your phone when its dead and that is a known error. Might be time for you to get a batter replacement my friend.

Re: [Q] black screen, flashing red light
something similar happened to me last night only i wasn't gaming and my battery was dead. i plugged it in and turned it on and my system ui stopped. so I reboot to fix but screen went black and lights went off (except for red led) but didn't come back on. tried to turn on with power button but nothing happened. i held power but for longer and got flashing buttons and red led went out. tried again and same but led started flashing.. another try and just got flashing buttons.. gave it a couple minutes and tried again and it came on. battery was @ 0 after boot. i also have twrp

Can't power on while phone is off and charging

I have 2 3d's one just rooted with teamwin recovery and one stock not rooted. I noticed on the rooted phone that if it is powered off and charging it will not power up while the phone is plugged into the charger. If you unplug it , it then powers up normal. The unrooted phone does not exhibit this behavior and will power up if you turn it on while its off and on the charger. Any ideas as to why? Should this be a concern?

Mine powers up fine, I do need to wait until I see the light turn orange after it turns off until I can power it on though

Are you using teamwin recovery? SHip Hboot or ENG Hboot? And what orange light? I power off my phone, then plug it into the charger and the light then turns red to indicate charging. I then attempt to hit the power button to turn the phone on and it will not power up. I have to unplug it to get it to turn on.
I can confirm 2 other people experiencing this same issue. Anybody else?
I have experienced this as well.
I am wondering if this is an issue related to getting s-off or if this is something with recovery. I ask only because I read clockwork recovery not being able to charge at all while the phone is turned off... Any ideas?
Same here, one more thing i noticed that's different since s off, when phone is off you plug in the charger, the olight comes on for a millisecond not bright at all, then it comes on one more time - regular brightness for 2 sec, turns off, then it comes on again and stays. anyone else has then same thing, it seams very weird for me. btw i had cw recovery, didn't charge while off, so i installed tw, and i am using the ship boot.
Ive had the problem where the phone wouldnt charge when powered off. Turns out the problem was with Clockwork. This problem may be related. You could try using Team Wins recovery if your on CW.

I feel the same way... I'm like a little kid who needs everything to work perfectly
Being that this is only day 2, hopefully this will all get fixed... as well as having a working wireless tether!!! I need tether for my Asus Transformer!!
I am getting the same result with Stock non-rooted and non-temp rooted s-off. Wanted to check for you all before I rooted. I had the phone plugged in to my laptop, booted into fastboot (power button-vol down) to verify my hboot version. Powered down using fastboot menu, and tried to boot it back up, the red light came on like it was charging but never turned on.
tgruendler, so you phone doesn't power on or goes to hboot even without you doing the whole s off.

That is odd, I have another non rooted 3d which boots up normal. Give it about 15 seconds after it powers down and it should power back up while plugged in.
I just applied the Clockwork Recovery 4.0.1.5 to fix the Charge Problem with Fastboot Off. That works now. To get 4.0.1.5 Get Clockwork ROM Manager from Market and Install Recovery using it.
But I ran into the Powerup problem discussed here.
But I found a work around.
Boot it into the Bootloader.
Hold Power and Volume down and it will come up !! Better than taking the back cover off.
Strange but true. I tried it several times.

Not sure how you are doing this... maybe you have fastboot checked? Turn off phone, plug charger into phone. Wait until the red light turns on solid. Give it about 15 seconds after plugged in. With the charger still plugged in, try turning on the phone. Mine as well as several others are unable to power on until we unplug the charger and then power up.

[Q] Unable to boot my HTC Amaze 4G

Hello all, I have a HTC Amaze 4G phone and I recently unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM 5.0.2.6 Recoveries and the Faux 0.0.8 Kernel. Then I also installed the Energy Sense ROM 3.0 and got it installed and everything was working great and dandy. I was able to use my phone! Cool!
But here is the problem I'm having. I turned it off for the night and plugged it in to charge. Woke up this morning to try powering it on it wont power on. Here are the problems I'm having:
When I push the power button I can see that there is a -very- faint white line that I can move up and down with the vol. up and vol. down keys. Along with pushing the home key which moves it as well. (They also respond by vibrating upon press) The screen is so dark I can't see what it is saying but I know that at least it's responsive in some way.
I've tried removing the battery and putting the battery back in, plugging in the phone (Which sometimes I get a blinking orange light other times it will stay a solid orange)
What went wrong? Why will doesn't my phone boot correctly? And why does it boot into the recovery menu with the brightness turned virtually down to 0? Any help would be awesome! Thanks so much in advance.

[Q] HTC One Hard Bricked! Help me please!

I've searched the forums of XDA and I've scoured the internet via google search and found nothing pertinent to my situation so I hope you guys can help! It seems I've hard-bricked my month-old HTC One. Never dropped it or got it wet.. Never even rooted or unlocked the bootloader.. it's completely stock. (I've been waiting very patiently for that 4.2.2 update to roll out for AT&T)
It just went completely dead earlier tonight as I was browsing the Play Store. I've tried to perform a reset by pressing the power button and down volume, but even after a full 60 seconds.. nothing. I've plugged it in the wall and no light comes up in the speaker grill. I've plugged it into my computer and nothing shows up.
Is there any way to fix this through ADB? Is there way to recover my data using ADB or some data recovery program on PC (or Linux)? Or is my best option to just take it back to the AT&T store and start anew? Thank you for your time/help XDA peeps!

Does any lights on the buttons come on ? Will the red light in the speaker grill come on connected to the charger?
I have read somewhere if you put the phone under bright lights then try to boot into the bootloader it will work, Sounds crazy I know but it works for some. Past experience on the HTC is if the battery is super low , like down to 30 % or less it wont come on. Have you tried to connect to a charger and leave it for a few hours then try ?

Nope, nothing.. No lights in the speaker grill at all when plugged in. I came across that light sensor trick and held my phone a foot away from vanity lights in the bathroom (should be bright enough right?) and tried to boot into the bootloader.. nothing. My battery was at about 60% when it did this last night. I tweeted HTCUSA and they told me to do a similar thing (put it on wall charger for a couple hours) and yep still nothing.

I know this sounds stupid, but is the cable good ? The one that came with the phone and charger? Have you tried other cables? Do you have adb set up right on the PC? Tried any adb commands to boot to bootloader? Last resort I can come up with. Have you run an RUU for your model and carrier?
same prob as OP
this same thing is what i am having a problem with this is the second time it has happened to me the first time it froze and i held the power button to turn it off and after about 10 min of holding various button combos it finally came on after holding the power button for a good 5 min.

Usually for the HTC ( well my experience). Holding the power button with the volume down button at the same time for an extended time, the lights at the bottom will flash for about 13 times continue holding the volume down button and release the power button. It should boot into the bootloader. From there, reboot, boot recovery or boot fastboot. IF this doesn't work, I have read in the posts here to hold the sensors under bright light and do the power down and volume down . If just rebooting the phone only hold the power button down. The lights on the bottom will still flash about 13 times and the phone will vibrate then release the button and it should reboot.
If the adb is working there is a mod called Regaw ModRebooter, which when installed sits quietly on the task bar or hidden icons. Just clicking will reboot to bootloader, recovery or reboot or power off the phone. I find this easier than using the buttons or just use ADB commands. Phone must be plugged in to PC to work though

How to unbrick a HTC One S without JTAG?

To cut it short, my phone was running Sense as per usual. After I rebooted it, the phone did not boot up at all. Last time, it can get to Hboot to go to TWRP now all of em' is not working. I remember wiping data & reset it thru TWRP too.
Rite now,
If i were to power on my phone, nth happens.
Charging while powering on with vol down shows a instant white flicker across the screen and the notif LED will light up to the duration I press the power button.
Plugging to a computer doesn't show anything. My notif led will light up for a few secs and it goes off doing so.
No QHSUSB_DLOAD issue either...
All of this was reported by friend, i can't rmb anyth else other than all these.

S6 - Bricked - Black screen and Solid White LED

Hello, friends
Out of the blue, my S6 Edge tried to restart, but got stuck in a loop at the Samsung Logo. One or two times it went to "insert pin" and then restarted again. I tried to Force Restart and it didn't solve the problem.
After a few tries, I managed to wipe the cache partition. Now it's simply bricked with a black screen and a Solid White LED. I can't restart it, enter download mode or safe mode or anything. Odin doesn't recognize it at all. Is there anything I could try?
The phone is not rooted.

Thank you! Tried it. Doesn't work. It's beyond my understading why would it behave this way after I managed to clear the cache. At least before that it went into download mode or safe mode. I still suspect a software issue.

So vol down + home + power will not get you to download mode?
How about recovery? Vol up + home + power?
This happened to me before and the way i got out of it was hold only vol down + power as soon as the screen went off completely (no led lit) switch to download mode combo.
Tried both of the commands. They didn't work. I will let it drain the battery completely and then see what happens.

reminds me of the bad emmc memory like the note 4s had.
some times completly letting the battery drain can fix it being "stuck". then recharge for 20 min or so then trying to turn on.
if u plug it into pc does it reconize anything in device manager
even unknown device or descriptor failed anythiing at all?
This morning the LED was off, so I tried to recharge it. Nothing happens. Also, the PC doesn't detect it at all. I think it's safe to assume I need a new phone. Too bad...at least if I was able to recover the data on this.

now one last sollution is to try buying a cheap battery my note 5 had a issue it shut of one day and wouldnt do nothing i understand ures was blinkik and trying at least
so its a leap but last resort
same problem here started over a week ago - samsung S6: black screen, constant white led. tried all variations of resetting with buttons. over a year ago i replaced the battery, and its been fine since. when this no boot issued happened i also tried changing the battery to a known good one. on inserting a battery and then pressing the power button the indicator led will go to green for less than a second before changing to constant white, and it stays that way no matter what until the battery is drained or the battery is removed. Strange thing is there is no information from samsung on what this behaviour means, but I've come across dozens of other S6 owners on the web with the same problem, so this is obviously diagnostic behaviour designed by samsung - but no info from samsung. the phone has never been damaged or watered or rooted so I'm at a loss.
Confirmed diagnostics:
The phone will respond to the power button and attempt to turn on
The phone will charge a battery, so the charging circuits and battery circuits are working.
The phone does not get picked up by a Windows 10 PC with Kies installed in any state - other samsung phones get picked up no problem.
Same here
I have the same symptoms. When I hild the vol up+home+pwr I get a green let for 1/2 sec then white. No other combinations do a thing. I swapped the battery for a new one. No luck.
Mine started a few days ago. The phone was 50% charge and i plugged it in for two hours. Came back and it had a solid red led. After a few hours the red light went off. It was then 100% unresponsive. I then took it apart and disconnected the battery. When I reconnected it, it started to do the white let thing described above

I have one that behaves exactly the same I changed the battery and didn't make any difference. my next step is to replace power management chip. I'll let you know.
Any luck on this?
Mine has been like this for a couple months, kind of gave up on it, but decided to give it a go again!
Same problem here, just happend after switching the battery. Anyone have solved this?
I found a kinda solution, plug your charger in and charge past 30% then unplug charger. then use just vol down and power button for 7-10 seconds, after 7-10 seconds just release the power button while still holding vol down button until you see samsung logo, you can tell if you did it wrong by the solid led being back on, repeat until success, once you have it on do NOT press the power button or it will RESET back to solid led/black screen.
I have the same problem with my s6 active and similar story to dbeeheim. Has anyone fixed this? And can anyone confirm that enzo13's solution works?
Much thanks in advance!!
i have same problem!
Suddenly my S6 dead, battery was ~80%, no charge
yesterday i try to change battery, after that if push power button, LED small light comes but in white with purple, then stuck. (it's small Notifications LED)
and i chnge the screen, but no more than white/prople LED.
(no any thing on screen, always black..)
what is the problem?
i think it's battery because it last month didn't work good, and it's old 3years battery.. but no idea..
Hello guys my Samsung S6 sm-g920f has the solid white led and black screen. Really no fixes?
thank you
Same issue
I have the exact same issue. My Galaxy S6 Edge (G925F) suddenly died and won't get past the 'Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by Android' screen.
I am unable to reach the recovery options. I've tried flashing two different stock ROMs with Odin which succeed but without successfully turning on my phone. I've also tried flashing TWRP with success in Odin but it won't get past the 'Powered by Android' screen before turning off after +-4 seconds. The white LED is on even when the screen is black.
Just had this same issue, my battery died and I forgot to charge my phone overnight, woke up and it would not turn on, black screen. I did manage to replace the battery and do several diagnostic tests on it. My battery was receiving about half the power output it should be (this is normal it's a 4.5yo phone) and when I replaced the battery with a new one, it did not turn on. With wireless charging I can tell I am receiving a charge and with standard I can not. The screen does not indicate it is charging with either method but my wireless charging pad lights up indicating my phone is being charged. I think it may be the processor or screen itself. This really sucks because I lost all my data on my phone and data recovery can be over $500
