wierd sim card issues? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ive had my note for about a week and a half, love it, but twice now it acts like the sim card was pulled out? Powering off/on fixes it but its quite an inconvenience. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue, its stock by the way.

Yes, once and awhile it will have a no sim card showing in the status bar. the only way to get rid of it is to restart the phone but sometimes it will come back after a few minutes. Its really annoying.

I lost 2 SD cards with the Note 64gb and 32gb. This never happened to me. Sim card is normal no problem.

thanks cozzeck, any news if samsung and att know about it?

Kept happening to me a few weeks after I got mine. Went to the at&t store & they put a new sim card in it & that fixed it for me.

Sim card removed. Please reboot phone.

Over the past day it seems I have been getting this error quite a bit.
I've reseated the sim card a few times, but that doesn't seem to fix it. It will happen while the phone is just sitting there too.
I thought it may have been a rom issue so I reflashed that, but the issue still persists.
Short of taking it in to att I am at a loss. I really don't want to have to put it back to stock, hell I don't even remember how to do that with cwm.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?

Go to the at&t store and ask for a new sim card and see if that solves your problems.

New SIM fixed it. Just weird as I have never touched it before.
They randomly die sometimes... I had one that took a dip in a creek once... still worked for a couple years then stopped working randomly one day. Hopefully you had your contacts saved to your phone though.

Loss of Service - No SIM Card?

I've been using my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII for the past few days and three times I've been using the data connection and all of a sudden, it would lose data...
In the notification bar, it would flash "No SIM Card" and then would begin searching for service. It would take about 30 seconds to a minute to regain full service.
Is anyone else getting this issue?

I have been getting that also. My phone is constantly freezing and rebooting. I am getting ready to flash back to stock to make sure my phone isn't dorked.

Hi guys, i'm having the exact same issue! While I'm at my house (3G area, not 4G) when I go to hit talk it immediately drops from 3 signals to the no signal symbol, then I get the No SIM card message too. After a few seconds it'll bounce back and show full signal again. I troubleshooted over the phone with techsupport last night and they recommended to swap out the SIM card or the phone. Went to the local store this morning for a SIM swap and it was better but not 100% fixed while I was at work (10miles from home). Stopped at the store again after work and after some arguing convinced them to replacement (phone would not act up at the store in the 4G area at all, was rock solid). Just got home and again with the new phone and a 3rd SIM card its doing it. I'm not sure what to think now. There were 2 other people in the store complaining of the same issue when I was there, all galaxy s3s. Wondering if its a tower issue in the area (Poughkeepsie, NY area) or software problem. Seems hard to believe its a network issue if the phone itself thinks there's no SIM card in it (and previous phones in the same area worked fine). Maybe some kind of software / firmware issue?
I'm really bummed out. My mom and sister just got the same phone and no problems in Chicago and Detroit areas. What areas are you having issues in? Hopefully we can get more info going, not many postings about this on the web yet....

I really don't want to send this thing back...

Just an update, this happens when I send text messages. It doesn't happen every time, but it just did it twice in a row.

if you still have IMEI go change your sim card.

[Q] No SIM issue

Hello all,
I have had the no SIM issue on AT&T lately. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is it as simple as flashing a ROM or replacing SIM card or replacing the phone? I'm rooted on Hasoons Senseless QX 2.0.0. Since its basically modified stock it doesn't count as ROM change hence no fix.
Thanks,
Irish

I wish I had something else to say other than a me too, but I've been seeing it a lot myself recently. Everything I've read says that I should reseat my sim card. So I'm going to try that tonight. My local AT&T store told me that I should also reset the phone to factory defaults to solve it. Implying that some app I installed caused it.
Since I haven't rooted the phone yet, I'd be surprised if any app I installed caused it.
Michael
resetting the SIM card isn't a permanent fix, only permanent fix is put a little peice of paper between the SIM Card and the SIM tray to remove the slack and sim issue.

interesting. I'll give that a try. That brings up an interesting question though. If it's because the SIM card is physically loose, why does toggling Airplane mode fix it for me ?
The only thing that makes sense is that the SIM card comes loose, the system detects it and then puts up the message, but never checks to see if it came back.
Still, very interesting.
wow i hope that doesnt happen to me, sounds a bit worrying

yes your right that is what happening it doesn't reset itself. HTC is going to need to make some new sim card trays for everyone
Update: resteating the SIM fixed it for now

Could also put some tape on the other side to create more resistance.

My Note won't read my sim card.I'm puzzled

Hi
I just bought a used note i717 that worked flawlessly for sbout a week then decided it didnt wanna read my T-Mobile sim anymore.
With the help of these forums ive tried every solution under the moon
Ive replaced my sim card and the sim card reader, flashed different modems and now I'm about to try a different rom.
Currently running CyanogenMod, team win and the phone is unlocked. I'm open to any new suggestions at this point.
Thanks!!!

I have this problem as well. I had my sim card reader replaced, which did the trick for a couple days. Then the "No sim" came back. I took it back, the worker took the insides apart then put it back together correctly. It fixed it for another couple days. Now I'm stuck.
edit. I have suspicion that one of the antennas or more (GSM, 3G 4G LTE, Wifi) are faulty

Bad sim card made top of screen unresponsive

I hope someone Googling this will find this post to be useful. Yesterday my galaxy s5 screen stopped responding properly at the top. I couldn't get the touchwiz notification screen to drop down and any app buttons up there seemed dead. I tried everything and finally went to a backup s5. Suddenly it too was doing this. Took out the sd card, no change. But when I removed the sim card it went back to normal. I got a new sim card and now all seems well 14 hours later. Anyone else had similar problems due to a bad sim card? I didn't find anything about this when I googled the symptoms.
