[Q] Play store not working on CM9 - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'v been having trouble with play store/market since I rooted my phone.
I tried CM7 before and it did not work there ether. It did not exist from the beginning. Now I use CM9 and have installed it with apk but it crashes on start up. I see "Loading..." in less then one sec before it crashes. Have anyone experienced this before or can someone tell me which exact version of market/play store works (maybe link me to where I can download it).
Thankful for any help and CM9 rocks.

you have to flash it in recovery
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps

What's really strange is when I flashed zeubeas beta0 I had the play store already installed before installing any gapps. I have never had any issues with the play store.
Try rebooting into clockwork mod recovery, flashing gapps again don't reboot, then delete dalvik cache, I think its the the advanced menu. Now reboot wait till phone boots, you should not get boot loops with this method as this is how I've always flashed all the zeubeas alpha and beta roms with no issue, also very important, check the zip files to make sure they are compleat and error free.
sent from my legend, currently using zeubea ics beta0

I got it to work! Thanks a lot!

i think this is because new versions of the play store that are updated in the background go onto the /data partition which isn't affected by flashing a rom update...

How did you solve it?
thanks

This page is blank. What needed to be flashed in recovery.

That page does not seem to work anymore.
I am having the same problem that the OP is having.
So I really need to flash with ODIN? If so, what? a new kernel? ROM?

I think you need to install gapps for your rom.

Yesterday i installed Kaosgingerbread rom to my eris and it worked sucessfully...but i found out that all of my apps are gone EVEN MY APP MARKET the only app i have is superuser so now there is no market to get rom manager.! WHAT DO I DO?! i need help asap please if you are reading this help me an and if anyone knows what to do reply or something!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much//// o yea and also my messeging works but when i try to add a gmail account it wont load successfully to..
You need to find the appropriate gapps zip file and flash it along with the new ROM to get market back. Flashing a new ROM will almost always delete everything on the phone.
OK i am kind of new to this sorrry for being a pain in the butt but can you explain it more because i really like the rom and all but besides the fact that i dont have the marketplace it sucks...so if its possible can you explain step by step and if not would it be possible to contact you through something like xbox or maybe email?

Most, but not all of the time anymore when you flash new ROMs you have to flash the GAPPs (Google Apps) package immediately after flashing the ROM, before you reboot into the ROM. Otherwise things like Market and GMail aren't there and you have a crippled phone.
You have to start over from scratch from recovery doing a factory reset/data and cache wipe and then flash the ROM and then the GAPPs.
Enjoy!!!

Not really true. When i flashed my rom I reboot to homescreen, then flash gapps from recovery. No need to reflash the rom.

AFAIK, this advise given by most of the devs in their ROM threads was based on some reports, from time to time, that people who hadn't flashed the GAPPs before booting the ROM, and flashing it after caused their phones to not behave correctly. Flashing it immediately eliminates any possibility that someone might have a problem with that particular part of it, so it's wiser to be cautious and just give the blanket advise to do it immediately than to chance that with some ROMs or some phones, problems might arise.
yea well.. anyone wanna post a tut. on how to do this or something

Download the gapps file from kaos thread. Place gapps zip along with the Rom zip to the root of your sd card. Reboot into recovery. Wipe/factory reset. Wipe dalvik. Flash Rom. Flash gapps. Reboot. Enoy.
That is very true. You'll get the jist of things when u flash roms more often
wait i havent done anything yet but is there a way to restore my phone just back to factory settings?
OK WELL I AM TRYING TO INSTALL GAPPS ONTO MY PHONE FROM MY COMPUTER BUT IT WONT RECOGNIZE MY "DEVICE"/ USB PLUG IN so now what do i do?

Reboot both devices (with the phone unplugged from the computer to start with) and try again. Also, you can mount the SD card via USB directly from Amon RA or Clockwork Mod Recovery. Something like Mount USB-MS in Amon. In Clockwork Mod, it's in the partitions menu.

[Q] CM7 - Problems mounting cache, loading gapps

I can't seem to mount or clear my cache via cwm4 after flashing CM7. I'm also having issues loading gapps with CM7. They install successfully, but don't show up in my app drawer. I'm assuming the problems are related. Any help would be greatly appreciated. <3
I believe I've seen this issue before. How are you booting into recovery? Using the 3 finger method or power menu > reboot > recovery? Once you have cm7 installed only the power menu method should be used.

Okay so here is my issue. When I use the 3 finger method I get ClockworkMod Recorvery v4.0.1.0, but I from ROM Manager I get 3.0.0.8. Whats up with that? Also I get the same cache errors and gapps issue that the person above is having. Where did I go wrong?
I am having the exact same problems. I tried to verify the GAPPS zip and it said it couldn't verify it. Is that normal?

thats just how it shows up in rom manager... As far as the other issue, Im not sure man, alot of guys are having problems installing cm7,, while others have no trouble. I had it installed and running great with glitch, but decided to try a different leakage and got bootlooped. Now cm7 will absolutely not install on my device. I have tried odining back to stock ed05, pwgb, evil fascination...It keeps coming up error cant mount datadata. Even reformatted my sdcard still no love...quite frustrating, hopefully you get your issue worked out. Good luck!
Okay I reflashed and used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212239
No more errors and GAPPS successfully installed.... but the market is all messed up. It downloaded my old apps, but now I cannot download any new apps because it says my internal memory is full.

CM9 Alpha 7

Hey,
i am noob, but can someone tell me how long the Atrix will take to boot CM9 ALpha 7?
My Atrix kinda Boots only, means there s the Boot Animation all time.
This isnt a boot loop is it? I dont see it rebooting, just the ICS Bootanimation.
XDA rulz
Nvm: Already fixed it by wiping again!
Definitely a boot loop. Perform a full wipe & flash rom again.
Try following one of the unlocking guides to check if you haven't missed something.

Thank you very much. Didn't know Gaps do more than fixing maps!
You should format system b4 flash
When going from gingerbread to ics .
You should format system as well as a full wipe.
Also do this when you flash back to ginger..
Running Jokersax cm9 kang alpha 0.23.2

have a moment to help out a user that is completely stuck?

i am stuck. i tried to flash super charged hatka 320 dpi and i have gone in the wrong direction because my dna doesnt boot up properly. after super hatka gets past the boot i am able to get to the lock screen and once i swipe to unlock, it says unfortunately settings have stopped working. my launcher doesnt work. i cant operate the phone what so ever except for looking at the settings. when i get a text message i can reply, but thats pretty much it. i have experience in rooting and flashing the htc g2, gs2, and the gnexus. but this htc dna is something different and i am having extreme difficulties. i can go into much more detail if someone has the moment to help me out
Maybe if you try to re-install the Rom will all be ok....it might solve the problem...did you do a proper wipe before flashing...and did you create a nandroid backup if so restore it in Recovery and then flash the Rom again...if. not first do a proper wipe and then reflash the Rom....I use viperdna so I don't know if you have after the install to flash any kernel, fix or something???check it first and then procceed with the other things..hope to helped yiu

If you came from another ROM or Stock, Factory Data Reset from recovery is advised ... you could also try flashing another custom ROM to get moving

What recovery are you using? I had an issue with twrp at first and switched to cwm touch. And no issues. I've had issues though by going back after getting stuck at boot and wiped then installed Rom with full wipe. But if its an error not installing might try fastboot flashing a different recovery

fixed
i may have had a bad download. i was using the 320 dpi senseless rom, my phone was unusable like i had stated, but i managed to get it running.
here is what i did to fix it:
in the settings, i linked my dna with my google account, and as i expected, i received play store notifications about updates, so i chose the notification and it took me to a fully functioning play store.
i downloaded apex launcher and it installed properly. pressed the home button and it automatically set itself as the default launcher and bam! my dna was beginning to function.
downloaded xda app and went to the super charged thread and downloaded the slim version of the rom instead of the senseless rom.
flashed the boot.img, flashed the modules, then flashed the slim rom and i didnt get any errors or failed messages this time.
i dont want to point fingers and i would never do that here on a fantastic community, but the senseless rom was giving me issues, maybe it just needs some more work. anyways phone is functioning like normal now, everything works and the battery is outstanding so far.
thank you to those for the advice. i was getting ready to call it quits and send this thing back to amazon wireless.

[Q] Google Play No Connection

Hi,
I'm currently using a Nexus 7 (2012 model) running Android Jelly Bean 4.3. I've been having a strange issue where the Google Play app keeps saying there is no connection. This has also occurred in the Youtube app. I have tried changing my time manually, rebooting my device, and uninstalling updates, to no avail. I am currently unlocked and rooted, and using TWRP as my recovery. What can I do to fix this problem?
Update
So after a painful night of trying to fix this problem by myself, I tried installing a custom rom: Liquid Smooth. When I installed it, Google Play and Youtube seemed to work just fine. At work today though, both apps failed on me again. This proves that it isn't my connection at home. Could it be my Google account? May I please get some help with this problem?
I ve had this one time before... I dont know for shure from where its comming (must be something with the framework) but i do know that the only thing helped that helped me was reinstall official firmware, root it again and install philz recovery...
Do a full wipe and install ROM once again....

I unrooted and re-rooted my ROM, flashed Philz Recovery and LiquidSmooth, and I'm experimenting with each app I install. I think the problem may have been with either XPrivacy or Freedom with Market Unlocker Pro. In any case, I have uninstalled all 3 of these apps.
