Ok so I'm fully flashed and running on Boost with my 3d. Question is, could I still flash roms without it affecting my Boost settings?
I only know from what I've read but I think if you're just flashing Roms then you'll be ok, I might not update the radio and I probably wouldn't dial ##data# and choose to restore data profile. I hosed a wildfire s on virgin mobile beyond repair by doing that. From what I've read you need to NEVER lose the AAA key, you'll never get it back and be stuck in 1x. Have you made a backup in qpst?
If do flash a Rom you may have to manually set up your apn's so before flashing a Rom I would write down all my apn's first

Well I paid some guy to do it on my PC remotely. A backup was made with all the settings pre and post flash.

You can feel free to flash roms and kernels. When you flash a rom (sense based) you'll need to do a ##data# and go to Advanced then near the bottom to MMS Server URL and change it to "http://mm.myboostmobile.com" (without quotes), and that will be all.
No boost settings will be "messed" up by flashing roms/kernels.
Now for cm7, miui, etc AOSP/AOKP I think you'll need an app from the market to get MMS messages.
As one of the posters above me said, you should create a qpst backup just for good form, won't hurt & may help.
I have updated the radios before on my evo 4g and it doesn't effect the boost service one bit
So far I have not updated my 3d's radios. Haven't found a need to, but when I see "great" feedback on a radio update I'll def do it.
So flash away, Themes, Roms, Kernels etc.
Boost is Sprint, so there isn't much to configure just MMS and modded Phone.apk so you can get the native Sense Voicemail app to notify you of phone messages.
I have my 3d flashed to another carrier as well.......I changed ROMs/kernels , I also updated from 2.08 to 2.17 which updates your radios..... and everything is still working fine...... but when I used revolutionary to S-OFF ny phone , all settings went.back to that of sprint's. So I restored my backup , but calls text weren't working . So i had to called the guy who flashed it to another carrier and he gave me the A-key, which solved all the issues.

Oh yeah..good point, rooting after flashing to new carrier will cause issues.
Root must be done prior to swapping carrier.

Revolutionary unlocks your NAND LOL, it does not root your phone , after that if you want you flash a zip containg superuser/supersu Apk and binary from recovery which will root your phone.
Without SU no root app will work even trough you have used revolutionary/htcdev

Do you know which program was used to flash your phone? If the answer is QPST and QXDM (which are the qualcomm tools) then restoring after a botched flash is fairly simple with a backup just irritating lol. Always take special note of your MEID and ESN while its still flashed to boost. Oh and if possible (just because its the biggest pain to recover) have the flash programmer send you your AAA and HA keys from the donor phone, "AAA" being the most important. Those 4 items are the unique end of the flash pretty much so if you have them restoration is far easier should things mess up.
Hope this helps!
You can flash any rom, kernel, radio, prl etc. I've done everything and have had no ill effects. The only time I ran into an issue was while downgrading hboot.. Lost my flash for a few hrs until I re flashes it to boost. And yes on asop roms u need gosms or an equivalent to receive MMS

It's "while achieving S-OFF" , not "while downgrading" ......you run revolutionary "after" your hboot is downgraded to 1.40.0000.
Then revolutionary will change your hboot to 1.40.1100

My friend recently got a used Sprint HTC Evo 3D which he got flashed over to MetroPCS, he was wondering if this would affect anything for flashing custom ROMs to his phone. He wants to make sure if flashing a ROM would not kick him out of the MetroPCS service or does nothing and just flashes the ROM like any other EVO 3D with the Sprint service.

I have been on metro and the tech flashed it . I have the evo 3-d 1.50 S-on Locked, and it was returned to me with rom manager installed and
S-On and locked and only getting 3g. I then proceeded to unlock through evohacks instructions and I finally got root through fastboot
usb commands, installed CWM recovery and flashed roms. Be careful,IMO one should be totally S-Off and go back to 1.40 hboot in order to
flash practiacally any evo rom and especially seperate kernals. I once installed the Antrax kernal on a rom through flash UI and had some trouble, but I always do BACK -UP NANDROID BU FIRST and foremost. Kernel 3.0.16---I hope this is all you guys need to help me diagnose this issue.
Anyway, I have a long day of flying ahead of me and it would really suck to have no phone. I have S- on and ClockworkMod.
A buddy of mine had previously rooted my Rezound and put (I believe Scott's rom) on it. I tried the Venom rom, bam, no radio. Switched to the Vigor Stock Deodex rom and same issue. No radio.
This seems like a quick fix, what do I need? All of the threads on radios say S-Off only.
Thanks guys.

To flash a radio, yes you need S-OFF.
It's better to use Amon-Ra recovery since ClockworkMod has given users a hard time.
If you have S-ON then the last radio flashed was with the last PH98IMG that was loaded onto the phone. So technically it's a rom issue.
Are you trying to flash an ICS ROM over a gingerbread radio? That could be your problem

I actually have a 4g signal now, I didn't do anything but reboot the phone again.
Now, I just realized that the phone will not read the SD card, nor will it handle phone calls - when a call comes in it will reboot, when making a call it will reboot.
I also believe that the radio is an ICS one. Any way to double check?
Are you saying I should S-Off now? Or is there a short time fix of something I can flash now? (will be at the airport soon and won't be able to flash anything)
Baseband is 0.95.00.118r, 0.95.00.1223r
Running Android 4.03
Another question, can I S-OFF without ADB?

Hello,
I purchased a used Evo 3D for my wife and while I am familiar with rooting and modding on the Galaxy S3 (my phone) I am not familiar with the Evo 3D. My wife has not been able to get data services on her phone without being on WiFi since buying the phone. She took it to Sprint to get looked at and apparently they said the guy that owned it prior flashed it and flashed something wrong on the device so the radio is messed up. What is the best process to take this phone back to stock modem, firmware, etc.? Or is there a radio I can flash on her phone to make it work? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

That depends on what he flashed. Do you get a Virgin Mobile logo when you boot the phone?
You can try my root and S-OFF guide and stop after Step1 if you don't care about root and S-OFF, but if the Virgin Mobile firmware was flashed by the previous owner you will need to go through a separate process to clean that up before the phone will be back to Sprint stock.

If you can flash the RUU to get it back to 100% stock and data still doesn't work, then call Sprint and have them do manual provisioning of the data services. Based on what you've said so far, it sounds like voice calls are working OK?

Yea her voice calls and text messages work. Just apps (and the internet itself) that require data will not work. Is there a certain requirement for going back to stock? Is the phone rooted now? If so you will need to relock the bootloader, otherwise you can just flash the RUU.exe from Windows. You can check the current status by holding the VolumeDown+Power buttons until the bootloader appears.
It might be worth a call to Sprint to see if they have provisioned the data services properly before doing that. You could even go to the "Settings/System updates" from the main menu and try updating profile and prl from there before calling. The reason I recommended flashing the RUU is because Sprint told you the prior owner had flashed incorrect firmware, but that could be bad information.

I am flashing the RUU now. Will this put the radio/firmware/etc back to how the phone came? She was never able to update PRL or Profile and that is where the problem originated. We purchased the phone, activated it, and in order to provision it Sprint had us attempt the profile and PRL updates which would both fail. Sprint tech (that physically looked at it) said it had been flashed with a bad radio and that is why the phone would not accept the profile and PRL updates. I am hoping this RUU file will fix everything. I did check and the phone was not rooted (via root checker app) and when I went into the bootloader, it said the phone was s-on.
I just finished flashing the RUU. The kernel, baseband, and build all stayed the same and it still gives me an error when attempting to update the profile or PRL saying that the phone cannot access data services. Do I need to try flashing another radio at this point?
I am completely at a loss here because I found a list of all radios for this phone and she has the only one that has been released for ICS. The baseband on her phone matches the listing for the ICS radio. So I don't see how she has a bad radio. Would the kernel affect it any? Just trying to get this phone working.

If you flashed the current RUU she has the correct radio and other firmware, and Sprint can verify that. As I said in my previous post, they may have given you incorrect information, but now that you flashed the RUU and are 100% stock you can all Sprint (*2) and ask them to make sure your data services are provisioned correctly.

She doesn't even have a standard recovery for me to try a radio fix I saw in another post. When I go into recovery there is an error on the bottom of the screen (relating to some sort of file) and it won't let me click on anything. And I can't try to flash the PG86IMG.zip because from what I understand you have to be s-off. When I boot up into the bootloader it is looking for the PG86IMG.zip but says it isn't present. does that matter? How can I get the recovery back if she isn't rooted and she is s-on?
EDIT: The error is "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

If you flashed the RUU.exe you should have the stock recovery installed and not get errors when you boot into recovery. I honestly can't remember what the stock recovery looks like when you boot into it, but I think it has a triangle or some other graphic in the midde of the screen.
Also, if the RUU.exe completed successfully you should have the correct radio and firmware so there would be no need to flash anything else. Firmware, including radio, can only be updated by flashing an RUU if you are S-ON, since updating it from the bootloader requires S-OFF.
It sounds like your RUU flash may not have been complete if you are getting errors booting into recovery. Can you take a picture using your other phone of the bootloader screen and what you get when you try to boot recovery and post it here as attachments?

Yup, that's the stock recovery. Not sure why you are getting that error, though.
Your best bet might be to go to the htcdev.com website and get the unlock token and flash it, then flash a custom recovery and see if you can boot from the bootloader into that. That's all included in step 2 of my guide. You don't need to flash SuperSU if you don't want root, but at least you can see if 4EXT recovery will boot without errors.
Here's a thread in the Android Q&A section where someone had the same error on another HTC phone and solved it by flashing a custom recovery. It sounds to me like there might be something wrong with the physical partitions on your phone.
Can you boot into the stock ICS ROM successfully? If so, it might still be worth a call to Sprint to see if they can activate your wife's data services manually.

I'm sure this is an annoying noob post but I'm going to instead post here before I brick yet another evo.
got a brand new evo in the mail from asurion.
*I unlocked through HTC dev.
*Rooted using This method
saw superuser on my stock untouched rom and was pleased.
proceeded to flash CM10 with no backup like an idiot.
cm10 animation bootloop..
found a thread saying Viper rom will flash because I'm still S-on.
Now stuck on Viper rom for 4 days with "1x" service when it used to be full bars 4G.
updated profile and prl on Viper rom. still no data when I am outside.
Tried Using the stock RUU.
Failed and told me to get the right version of the RUU.
tempted to keep trying things till it works again, but that's how I've ended up having to replace my phone in the past.
I am not good at rooting and need some help before I brick another phone..
while grabbing info I saw there was a system update for Viper Rom from 3.1.5 to 3.1.6
going to hold off as it will probably **** my kernel / radios even further..
Info:
Kernel 3.4.10-g19136fe [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT

Any help or advice on what to do to get my phone working again would be super helpful.
Ideally I'd like to install a pure version of android, or cm10.1 with full service and no radio issues.

It should not update profile after step 4. It's should go through wireless activation, then check for prl update, then check for firmware update. So does it make it through wireless activation?

Also it looks like your firmware is up to date so I'm guessing your phone came with the 3.16 base already on it that's why cm 10.1 will not boot. The only way for you to run an aosp rom is to s off and downgrade your touch panel drivers. You have no radio mismatch issues as you are on the same radio/pri as me. Which are both up to date the only difference is I'm s off without the new tp.img. Also there is no RUU for 3.16 available only 3.15 which I'm guessing you tried and failed at. Roms Do Not mess with radios or pri, I would flash the stock rooted rom and try again.

Okay I'll give that a shot, thanks for your help.
If memory serves I was even lower than 3.16 when it first arrived.
I'll look for a rom like "stock with root"
time to give it another whirl.

Well your firmware is up to date so either it came with the 3.16 base or you updated your firmware via ota... Either way viper boy has a stock rooted rom in the Android development section.

could this be because I'm S-on?
Should I have some version of the "PJ7510 zip" on my sd card?
Sorry I'm so lost.
All replies are a huge help.
EDIT: I think I'm figuring it out. going to attempt RUU for 3.15

Downgrade to twrp 2.4.4, I believe and try again. Also make sure to check the md5 it may have been a bad DL. I have also had to move roms from internal to external, and vise versa, to get them to flash. I'm shooting from the hip here...

I had a similar prob a few hours ago.
I just rooted new Evo LTE that arrived w/ 3.16.651 & 2.09 B.L.
I unlocked (still S-on) and flashed MeanBean w/NO PROBLEMS. All was good. Using WiFi tethering to watch Netflix in HD on 50" plasma kind of good.
Gained S-off this morning, re-flashed MeanBean (w/out running backup, of course). All was good again.
Then I noticed my radio, PRL, etc were not the most current, so I flashed the new PJ75IMG.zip. Radios were current but had near zero connectivity. 1x running at 2-4 kbs. No 4G LTE signal.
I tried the ##72786#, failed w/ error 1012.
Tried again, it failed no network detected...
Went to settings, updates, hit profile... Profile was updated!
Updated PRL... PRL was updated
Updated profile again.
##72786# then worked.
Went into recovery, fixed permissions & rebooted.
It's all now working flawlessly. 4G connects, WiFi tether rocks, through speeds are great.
Just keep plugging at reprovisioning (hands-free activation).
I don't know from AOSP ROMS, But if only for the short term, try to flash MeanBean. It might be able to get you out of the woods.
Definitely try different roms. I've had my data crap out for no reason and have to ##786# twice to get it back. Honestly you might have to call sprint. I have never had to but there are always those circumstances...

Many thanks! I can't seem to get ANY roms to flash.
Mean bean it is.
Get S-off using the Moonshine method and save yourself a lot of headache. It'll give you way more options to anything you want. With S-Off everything is butta.

UPDATE SOLVED:
after failing at flashing another stock Rom I recovered back to viper. I went about my errands and while driving out of the blue I had full 4g again.
I think maybe the towers had trouble doing a hands free activation twice in such a short duration from eachother out of the box.
Thanks again to all who offered help, no idea why it works now!

yea forgot to mention that looking for it now.
so, to recap, re-lock bootloader, flash stock recovery then run this file and that should put me back to 100% bone stock on T-mo 4.3, sound about right?

You do NOT need stock recovery to flash an RUU s-off.
With S-OFF you don't need to do anything. Plug your phone in and run the RUU. I just did this yesterday. All I had to do is flash TWRP and I'm right back to rooted.

did not know that, thanks for that info. i always do stock recovery and lock bl, now i can skip step. thanks mate
can this be flashed on a AT&T HTC One, just left them and love the phone. BL is unlocked, have flashed the T-Mobile radio, but my phone continuously drops to EDGE, then back to LTE and 4G, I thought the baseband puts the frequencies needed for optimal T-Mobile network compatibility, namely the WCDMA 1700....im in NYC and i know they updated the towers here so 4G works on GSM1900, but having that WCDMA 1700 would be best. I guess there are other things T-mobile does to tweak the network i guess on the build.prop or whatever? not sure? any ways, any inout would be greatl appreciated,
just so anyone is confused. this was super easy to do to completely restore to a factory phone.
I was on TWRP w/ ARHD 22 ROM, unlocked bootloaded thru htcdev, S-On. here is all i had to do to flash this (super simple)
fire up fastboot on phone
verify fastboot via cmd (fastboot devices)
enter fastboot oem lock
phone reboots and i now have **Tampered** **Relocked** on bootloader
leave phone in fastboot and run the RUU file and 10 min later
factory phone
thanks all for posting this, I'll be re-rooting and flashing custom recovery soon but so nice to have wifi calling back.
I keep getting an Error 155. I've googled around and I can't seem to find anything that works. At my wits end here. Anyone?
I used this today and having trouble unlocking the boot loader. Do I need to get a new code?

Yes but you need s-off and change your cid and mid to match a tmo phone

Thanks for this. Just used it to upgrade my son's tmo one.

So how can I do both, kinda found the CID type thread but don't see anything about MID, can you point me to the right direction? I'm assuming S-off would be necessary?

So I've got a newbie q: I'm currently on 1.27.531.11, can I just flash this version just like I would an OTA update and keep my contacts, messages, settings, etc. intact? Or is this a complete wipe?

I got a question about the ruu. I have a Att phone I'm selling to a T-Mobile guy could I make the phone officially a T-Mobile device by using this ruu??
