Hello,
I recently got the Razr XT910 and everything is nice except for the camera quality.
When i take pictures 99.99% of the pictures i take are BLURRY and i try hard to make my hands stand still... not to mention the video recording quality.. i have an ipod touch that have a vga camera that can take pictures way better than my Razr XT910.
Is there a program or update or mod or driver that i need to install to get it to work correctly ?
i will upload some pictures ASAP to let you show you what i mean.
update 2.3.6, camera should be better. And, the the picture view by Razr always dark but not when view on PC

2.3.6 update plus get ICScamPro it's an amazing app for taking pictures. There's an ultrajpg mode that really makes magic. Also, focusing are much better than default camera.
cheers
The second thing i did after charging my phone fully is doing the update and indeed it updated to 2.3.6.
here are some of the pictures i just took and i tried hard to make my hands stand still !
thanks for the replies.

do you mean "Camera ICS+"?
Oh, also forgot to say that when you select NIGHT PORTRAIT the picture will lag a lot to the level it will take 10 seconds to take the picture after hitting the Take Picture Button !
use camera zoom fx instead
When the light is low the picture are pretty bad, it's like that, try to be in a room with lot of light and make test again.
Thanks for the tip with ICS camera i'll give it a shot

Exactly.
Your pics seem really blurry anyway. Maybe playing with camera settings would fix it.
Make sure you have a faster sd card. Cheap sdcard do the same to pics and vids. Gota a class 10 kingston pro (95mbs) replacing a cheap kingston 16mg sdhc class 4 and video quality, also pics were really improved. You may have a defective (cheap) sdcard too. lol

This is incorrect. Sd card speed do not affect picture quality. 10 years ago when memory cards were slow, digital cams are still able to capture high quality pics.
As for video, sd card speed may cause instability like lag. From my experience, video capture on digital cameras like Canon EOS will stop recording on its own after 5-20s because of slow sd cards.
Lastly, defective sd cards do not cause pictures to blur.

Hi Nikorasu,
Try recording and playing a video with a low speed sdcard. I got 2, my first sdcard was a class 4 and vids were really weird, there were some lags or low frame rate with it. Then I bought a class 10 sdcard (sandisk extreme pro, a class 10 95mb/s) and my vids quality were really improved, specially frame rates.
I had recorded this vid in february, from my apartment windows with the old (cheap) sdcard, take a look how laggy it is:
http://youtu.be/Ok2BWDmYfQY
You may note the lag in frames.
Cheers
Edit: This is my actual sdcard
http://img2.mlstatic.com/s_MLB_v_O_f_223334251_21.jpg
Edit 2:
1. My vids stop recording with low speed sdcard, as you told.
2. The pics quality were also improved maybe due faster recording images on sdcard. I can't explain, just told about my own experience with razr and low speed sdcards. I think focusing is faster too with my new sdcard.
Don't know about pro cameras, like Canon EOS as you mentioned, but with android cameras that what I noticed.
I'm not seeing this blurring issue. Pretty much all of my pictures came out sharp. The color balance can sometimes be off and there's a lot of digital noise in darkened settings, but under normal light... no complaints.

Thanks man
try saving pics on the internal memory and see the results, also try a different app but also save them on the internal, if the proble persists try having someone else to take them and if it still does it then sent it for a replacement

Cool.
I think Galaxy Nexus pics and the last one, from Razr, with Camera ICS+ are better. This really seems to be a GB issue, don't you think? What is the speed of sdcard of each smartphone you use? cheers
I didn't use sdcard, I saved pictures to internal storage.
By the way on razr I use this memory
I agree with you, it should be a software issue.

Yup it's exactly as I said, slow sd card may cause instability like lag. However, don't confuse lag with picture quality.
A video with lag taken with a slow sd card, and a video without lag with a fast sd card will have the same picture quality when paused. The lag in your videos are caused by missing frames because the software is unable to write to your sd card fast enough before more information are coming in. When some software knows this is happening, it stops recording.
That is for video.
As for pictures... SD cards are not analog like VCR tapes where the low quality tapes will result in low quality pictures as the videos are "printed" onto the tapes. They are in digital format made up of 1s and 0s. When a sd card is slow, it simply takes the software a longer time to write in that information (1s and 0s), and you'll have to wait longer to take another picture. The picture quality will be the same.
As for focusing faster with faster SD card, high chance it's just a placebo effect.
Can we see some pictures taken with the leaked ICS for RAZR?
Actually, i am using the internal storage i dont have any SD card yet.
Do you think its a software issue ? i updated to 2.3.6 and 65.1.40.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03 system software even tho i bought it from the US.
OR could it be a defictive product ? plaese i dont want to return it as this was the last on in stock and it will not be back on stock... so i cannot replace it unless i contact motorola support...
do you think that changing te software to the EU stck ROM will be okay ? and will fix the issue ?
Thank you people for the replies !

Haven't tried hd video yet but photos are okay provided you have enough light in the environment. Indoor photos aren't that good but outdoors with plenty of sunlight looks good detail wise for a smart phone.
Best camera phone I have owned. Iphone is a close second. Could be the firmware.
Seriously there are posts with excellent pictures and videos . Try a factory reset .

There must be something wrong with your phone mate.
Can't agree on any of those points with you.
The only niggle I found was in the audio capture which suffers from severe clipping under very loud conditions (Rock Concert recording Fail!). My friend's iPhone4 did a much better job with the audio.
However, the GSII offers better video detail without artifacts and less severe noise reduction (Both under low light & bright conditions). The photographs offer no cause for complaints either!

I am stock unrooted(till my 30 days are up) anyway I have seen a bunch of concerts recently and recorded video using my HTC Inspire, then with my brief time with the LG Thrill, and now with the Galaxy S 2 and while the galaxy s 2 seems to give the best quality recordings it seems while recording it will blur the video for a few seconds like its trying to focus then it will go back to normal it may do this once or twice during a 2-3 minute video yet I never had this problem with my Inspire or LG Thrill just wondering if I am missing some settings or what the deal is?

Most likely the other phones do not have the feature of
continuous auto focus during video recordings.
Perhaps one of the devs will include a mod in these custom roms
which can enable or disable the auto focus feature while recording
video clips.
(not many camera phones have auto focus during video recordings)
I guess I don't understand the continuous auto focus, to me that would mean it would auto focus always so I wouldnt get the blur issue. I went through the video recording settings didn't really see anything I could do that would remedy the situation.

Continuous auto-focus in i777 SGS2 means that it will
auto-focus as needed automatically while recording video.
So when the foreground or background changes and people
or objects are closer or further from the lens that's when
it will automatically try to auto-focus for optimal results.
I don't see too much of a problem on my test video but then it's not moving "too fast" like people/motion.. only cars passing by.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRat0Drzu6s
This happened to me while at the gun range, kind of anyways. The camera was blurry for the first half of the video like it wasn't even trying to focus, then when it did I guess it didn't go out of focus again. Very odd. Now that I'm on MIUI this doesn't happen, this video is from when it was stock unrooted.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcBAAOPvhv8
To be honest, on the stock/unrooted version I was running, I was having the exact same difficulties. You would expect that the camera wouldn't have to test its entire focus length before finding one that works and goes back to it.
It's not as noticeable when recording objects far away whose distance isn't changing, but when something passes in front of the camera or you move it to something slightly closer and it loses focus at all, it takes a good 1-2 seconds to refocus. That's a lot of time.
I was just thinking, could this be caused by my video recordings running off a 16gb class 4 kingston sd card? If so would I need to up the class or could I just switch my video recordings to go onto the 16gb of internal storage space? I may just switch it to internal and try a video and see if that is part of the problem.
Sorry, I seem to bombard you guys with questions (and seem to answer them myself ), but that's not the problem. The problem is with my HTC One X+ not taking 8MP camera (and apps not recognizing the camera as 8MP)... including the main stock HTC One X+ camera app... or so it seems. I've tried Camera Zoom FX which recognizes up to 8MP and it went up to 5.1MP for my camera... a different app went up to 6MP, but mostly it's 5MP (as the best quality for my camera).
All my pictures that I take are very noisy and not clear (file size anywhere between .6 - 1.2MB)... that is not good. Resolution is 3264x1840 (or vise versa if it's vertical).
I don't know what the deal might be... is the camera failing on me (Camera on my previous Samsung Galaxy S3 failed completely... wouldn't open at all)... don't know how the cameras seem to die on me... I do take a lot of pictures, but most of the pictures I've taken are bad quality and very noisy... really really really disappointing since I value the camera a lot... I chose this phone for the 8MP (was afraid of the 4 UltraPixels of One so I went with regular 8MP)... now I regret, seen I'm getting a terrible quality 5MP pictures. (I've seen 5MP phone cameras take MUCH better photos then my "8MP" camera).

What rom are you on?
Also the noisy pictures thing may be caused by the fact that the back cover of the camera has a coating that gets scratched really easy and you should remove it, search in the Q&A forum on how to.
The "8MP camera bug" is one of many annoying bugs introduced in the only HOX+ update. The problem is that HTC messed one file in which there are available photo size options. That way NO external camera app will use full 8 MP. Only 5, 5.1 or 6 (square) MP. However, the stock camera should take full 8MP pictures, I can prove it. Check camera options.
This bug can be fixed if you have root access. I found a tutorial about this here at XDA, but after many, many google searches and I have no idea where it is now.
Install zero compression mod, lyaporta camera mod, 8mp photos are in 4:3, pretty sure widescreen or 16:9 option is only 6mp, as it crops the top and bottom instead of making the sides wider.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the lyaporta camera mod anywhere on XDA... I found a few posts that refers to it, but can't find anything else.
Is this the zero compression mod? If so, how do I flash it? Just put it on my sdcard and install it VIA TWRP? Also, how could I make a back-up of the current camera library? (I use sense 5 and the stock one that they offer there is for sense 4... or does it not matter and I can update it back to be compatible with sense 5?)
Thanks for your awesome help so far!!! I'm pretty new at this.

Well, I tried that zero compression mod thing that I linked above and it does make the file size larger (also changed crop to regular and resolution to 4:3) and the image seems to be a little bit better but if you zoom in it's so noisy, it's just bad...

Flash the zero compression driver that disables the noise reduction rubbish that HTC implements (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339226). Camera Mod is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221815, it`s in the modpack , you can install without other mods, it improves image quality by a good deal. How old is the phone, my phone started developing hazy, blurry photos that had a ridiculous amount of bloom in any lit area, I noticed how scratched the lens was, the fix, simply put a small dab of tooth paste and a drop of water on a microfibre cloth and rub the lens in a circular motion for about 5 mins, don`t use too much water cause it can get under the lens, now my lens is as good as new and the camera takes some darn nice photos.

The lyaporta camera mod breaks my phone... it's just stuck in the start-up HTC One logo screen and that's it... I restored to the backup I did before installing the mod, but it doesn't seem to work... maybe I just have to wait a little longer... I waited for like 1 minute on the logo screen before going back to the backup...
Im asking for myself, as well as for others in the future.
the first photo I took after unboxing the phone was missed. horribly. the camera seems so slow. If compared to a note 5, iphone etc.
Using auto for settings. i figured itd be at least almost as fast as comparable flagship devices.
Can anyone provide a decent list of settings for those "gotta take it fast" settings?
I have no problem at all. Just open and the camera app and shoot.
Haven't had any problems here. I used it all weekend to take picture of fall leaves.
Only thing that was "slow" was opening it by way of the double press of the down volume button. Not as fast as I'd like between the press and the actual picture.
But just opening the camera from the icon (i have it on my second screen) was very fast! The actual picture taking is blazing fast too. It was especially appreciated when taking panoramic pictures. My note 2 is pretty slow for those.

Any way to make the camera app on the second screen when main screen is off? That would be awesome. Btw I didn't even think out putting camera on second screen. Thanks!
I have the camera on the second screen when the screen is off.
Screen off defaults to the date/time/battery display but swipe to the left and it's (sound) (wifi) (flashlight) (camera)
I don't remember setting it that way. I thought I was just by default...

I have problems with the camera on the LG V10 too. For stationary stuff it's fine, but my Note 4 was much faster to take a camera shot on auto, and the picture always looked much better, with much less noise and blur... I have a 3 year old. So he moves fast, and I don't want to carry my expensive camera with me everywhere. I really thought this would be at least as good as the Note 4 on auto but it isn't. I really love the LG v10 overall, and don't like the thought of losing the removable battery, SD memory expansion, the DAC, and other great stuff, by moving to a Note 5. But I'm just that disappointed in the camera. Anyone think I might have a defective phone? I mean I hit the camera button to take a picture, and it just lags. And the result is blurry more often than not.

I've had none of these problems that you speak of...You might try to exchange your device....sucks bro.
Make sure OIS is on.
Make sure it's saving picture to phone
This camera is not as fast as note 5 when it comes to shooting quickly. Auto focus is nice but remember note 5 had camera api running in the background constantly so it's easy to open camera and snap.
It seems to have a slight lag with focusing in auto mode, especially compared to note 5.
I use it mainly for manual shots, but I also have note 5 too.
V10 has many more camera and video options than note 5, but is slightly slower
I have no problems with the camera at all.. Its fast and amazing. I came from a note 4 that became very slow after a half a year. N4 took 20 sec just for the camera to get in focus after opening the app. V10 Manual mode is the shiiz
Totally agree

I agree have the same problem. I wa sdebating on the note 5 and this but I love the whole big phone, storage and memory so I went with this. but since I am in the 14 day trial period I want to return it and get the note 5. just yesterday i took pictures and it took for over to take so when people saw the first flash they assumed it took and moved and yeah not good. IS there a setting or something?
Whilst the camera does a pretty reasonable job of taking photos the HD video recording is pretty poor to say the least. My previous Galaxy S5 took amazing HD video but poor still photo's (go figure!). I use the video feature a lot and this lack of quality (sharpness, focus, detail, some stutter, instability) is becoming tiresome and frustrating so I've begun testing all the various settings with the standard camera app and have also been trying a number of different apps to the see if they can improve things. I have a fast Samsung Class 10 SD MicroSD card installed also.
Up to this point there's little if any improvement from any of these apps and I've even installed the ported Moto X camera app but there's no appreciable improvement in quality with this either. So I'm now wondering if the limiting and un-fixible factor in this is the camera hardware itself, despite it taking nice, sharp stills.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can genuinely improve the video recording quality or whether it just can't be done with the Honor 7 camera hardware?
