My nook was rooted through indirects first method then one day it was gone. I was still on 1.4.0 but i lost all my G apps, keyboard, etc. So i tried to restore it using the nookunrooter.apk and that didnt work. so i tried the acclaim_update and that didnt really work. it went through the processes but it was exactly the same when it was done. i tried the power button and n button 8 times thing then reinstalled supperuser and nookunrooter.apk but i get the same issue... any ideas
So help me understand where you are right now with this. You are still rooted correct? Can you verify this via superuser?
As for your software version, are you are still on version 1.4.0 or did you update to 1.4.1/1.4.2? Please report the version you are currently on.
You said you tried to reboot with the power and N button, do you or did you have clockworkmod installed at some point? The Power and N button will only work if you are trying to boot into a modified bootloader.
i used this and it fixed it.

I have a NT and tried a couple of times to do the 1.4.1 rooting procedures found on this forum but never could get my audio back on the device. So, I decided to go another route...go back to stock 1.4.0, root and then block the updates.
I went to here and installed and ran the hijacker:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419598
However, my software version still shows 1.4.0. Doesn't the hijacker set it to 9.9.9?
Nope
After finding and watching the videos, I see that I had the wrong impression of what Hijack was supposed to do even though I installed it.
So instead I purchased Titanium backup, went in and started freezing DeviceManagerService 2.3.4.
It's been in the process of freezing for 20 minutes now. Any idea how long this should take?
Thanks!

shouldn't take that long, make sure usb debugging is checked, both of the usb debuggings. as a precaution check usb debugging once, uncheck it, and check it again to make sure it stays for the rest of the time you have your NT on. This only applies to the top usb debugging option. hope this helps!
Checked
Ok, I went in and noticed that the USB debugging was not checked so I checked it.
The freeze is still running. Should I turn my NT off and retry again?
Update
I restarted the NT, went in once again to confirm the USB debug settings.
When I went back into Titanium backup and checked, the device manager was frozen, so maybe it was the UI that wasn't updating.
The software version now is 'Unavailable'.
Thanks!

Yeah, mine behaved this same exact way. I installed "Button Savior" from the market and not I have a "back" button I can get to when ever I need it.
Button Savior
I also installed Button Savior but can't get it to show up on any of my screens. Not sure what's up with it, didn't have any permissions problems installing it.
Thanks!
Shortly after Team DRH's last update for their ICS 1.2 I installed it no problem and it ran for a few weeks. Then I left the tablet alone for a week or so and when I turn it on now the wifi is not working, it just says "turning on wifi" but never actually does. I've followed the reflash instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23147934&postcount=4 and I can re-install ICS endlessly. But even after following those instructions, and even after RayWaldos NVFlash for dummies, it still always says "turning on wifi" but doesn't.
When, during the above flashing, I let the stock tapntap boot, wifi works no problem. It's only when i install a ROM that it stops working. I even tried installing Gtabcombover and it gave me the same "turning on wifi" problem.
I did try searrching the forums, but I see no mention of this anywhere.
Thanks.
If I can be more to the point: does anyone know of a way to completely reflash stock everything? I thought I was doing that, but obviously not enough.
Or do I need to crack open my case and push that Dirty Little reset button?

I was able to use the DHR NUFLASH.. It worked real well for me.. download the right file (bootloader 1.1 or 1.2) to your pc, for your g-tab.hook up your USB cable Turn on your tab wile holding your volume (-) key , the logo will come on and then go black. Then go to the nuflash- win file, you downloaded to your pc and run.. The instructions are on the DHR site are vary good I read them a few times before I tried. Its worked great for me.. I'm a noob. Lets just say its just about makes the gtab un-brickable...

Well the good news is that after reading your post I went straight to the DRH website and lo and behold they had just posted Beta 1.3 that morning. I redownloaded their Full Stock CWM 5504 NVFLASh file even though I already had it, and the Beta 1.3.
I flashed the stock file and let it boot just like they said but the setup process began a FC loop and would not complete. I simply rebooted and the setup was able to complete. The I installed the Beta 1.3 with no Gapps and it worked like a charm. Wifi was working and everything, except there was no Market. So I did a wipe/FR and installed again this time with Gapps and everything is back, wifi, market, all good. And I have noticed that it all seems to work a ton faster and smoother.
Before Christmas I tried to do a OTA update on my Prime, which has not been successful and I have not been able to use the Prime since.
It has previously been rooted and previously have always been successful in using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to retain root after updates. I've not unlocked the Prime.
Now when I try to boot it spends a while 'optimizing' the applications (as if it was the first time i've booted it since the update), and then once it is started, no apps will startup, all of them resulting in saying "unfortunately xyz has stopped"
A video of the problem: youtu.be/e1yfTtGiR78 (sorry can't post full link as am a new user).
I'd like to get it working again, possibly installing the Androwook ROM (or at the very least, just working on the stock rom). What steps do I need to do from where I am at the moment?
There are many threads about flashing roms, brick-fixing (some more up to date than others), but I'd just like a bit of advice about this problem and what I should do next (maybe some good links?). I haven’t gone near doing any flashing on the Prime, and it would be nice to seperate the things I could do, from the things I -should- do (I don't know where to start).
I believe as the Nvidida logo is on the bottom right this means I'm on the JB bootloader? Currently the settings menu shows I'm on android 4.1.1, but not sure if this is pre or post the failed update.
Thanks for any help,
Steve
A factory reset will fix you up. You'll lose your data
Hold vol down + power when booting to access the boatloader menu. Select wipe with vol down and use vol up to confirm.
Hi,
Thanks, I've done the reset, but I still seem to have the same problem.
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/502/imag0217c.jpg
I can't actually proceed throuh the inital set up, because it closes itself when it gets to the account setup page.
Any ideas?
I have resolved this.
I downloaded the latest firmware from the ASUS support website, extracted the zip file from within the downloaded zip file and renamed it to EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP .
Put this on a microSD card (which I had formatted to FAT32), inserted it into the Prime, then booted into the bootloader menu.
Selected the RCK option, it did the update, and 10 minutes later it was up and running again.
From what I have read, it won't try to complete the update if it thinks you have already got that version installed already, but I guess it knew it hadn't successfully completed the update previously.
Glad it's working again.
I have the Ainol Novo 8 Discover with android 4.1.1, I tried upgrading it recently with a file the company provided, alas, I can't get into recovery anymore. Going into settings and doing factory reset it simply turns off the tablet. Adb reboot also shutsdown the tablet.
Is it possible to fix? I didn't do a backup. I have tried accessing recovery by holding at the same time Power Off + Vol down like I used to with no avail.
I have looked every where but I haven't found a solution.
fixed
Well I have solved my problem. It is difficult to find solutions because everything that I encountered was in Mandarin.
I upgraded from 4.1.1 to 4.2 successfully, I will test if the stock recovery is working. If anyone needs help let me know. I cannot put links to outside websites.
Long story short i deleted my data/app file(accidentaly). Sony xperia S android 4.2.1 i think... Dont ask how that happened. So right after i deleted it by mistake everything started crashing many apps stopped working. Immediatly after doing that i restored a restore point and rebooted. As you would expect my phone is password protected, but when i klick the password slot id doesnt show the keyboard nor the option to change keyboard because i was using swift key keyboard. Now i cannot enter my phone, so i think that i should do s factory reset but i cant do that. I know that i saw a factory reset option on the sony software updater on my pc because i wanted to update my phone. Also when i tried to root my phone i could not flash it some broken driver issue (was not able to fix) so i finally rooted it with the root tool kit. Well please help me with this. Also i assume that the restore point didnt work. Please help :crying: :crying:
Hmm. So you deleted your /data/app folder and most of the apps are gone? Whoops! lol And you are rooted. Do you have a custom recovery? I'm assuming so since you said you tried to restore a backup, is that correct? It would probably just be easiest to factory reset in recovery as that will remove the password and then when it boots, you can restore the keyboard app. Other option is trying to remove the password in recovery (has to be custom) with adb commands as you won't be able to while booted due to the password.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620456 - and this does not work for every device, obviously.

Well the thing is that im not near a pc for the next few days, but i have a tablet which has the device input to usb output cable. So i was wondering if theres a app that turns my android tablet into a keyboard for my phone. Ive been looking but only found bluetooth and wireles keyboard wich wont do me any good since my phone is locked. Also is there an app that could hack my phone since its rooted.
Pretty sure you're out of luck without the PC.
