Do not install UOT Help me - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i'm create a ROM based on cyanogenmod7 for tattoo and i'm i modified the graphic on site uot dakra, after download the package integreated to my ROM,and install to my device, only ok, after seeing the graphics I decided to change some things in here bootanimation, download the package again and back into regular ROM adding the Data folder (the folder that was not there before) containing bootanimation happens here and the odd fact, after the installation of the ROM,which is successful, the device restarts the bootanimation not start, I thought that went into conflict with those contained in the Media folder (with the first ever discharged package from uot dakra) , so I tried deleting the bootanimation in media folder, but nothing, I tried deleting the Data folder, but nothing, I tried to replace the bootanimation Date of moving in Media but nothing, so I tried to restore a functional ROM but also This is not incredibly went faster, but I thought a Brick cyanogenmod7 restoring from backup system is up, may depend on what the problem with my ROM? and how do I fix?

[Q] Custom Bootscreen on Vibrant

Is it possible to run a custom bootscreen on the Samsung Vibrant via stock ROM? I am operating off a stock rom (UVKA7) and the link below mentioned compatibility with running a custom boot animation. Problem is, I am having a hard time getting this to work.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...boot-animation-on-your-rooted-android-device/
The page mentions copying over bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ folder but I find no file in this folder, in fact, it appears the annoying boot screen is a bunch of images.
posible, yes
you would need to download a handpicked bootanim.zip. use super make sure to use R/W(from settings at main) and drop in in the system/media folder.
But this is only achievable through a rooted device

[Q] If I merge a theme with a ROM zip I get stuck at boot !

Hi,
the theme zip has 4 folders..
1- app folder with systemui, settings
2- framework-res
3- fonts
4- bootanimation.
If I copy the files one by one to the zip using 7-zip I get stuck at android logo.
I am using honeycomb 3.2
Thanks,.,
Hi, I'm still pretty new at this and I'm not sure why you are trying to merge them. I just flashed the rom first, let it reboot then went back into recovery and installed the theme frofm the zip, it worked perfectly. Maybe you could try it that way.
Hi,
I know that way worked for me...
but I really need to know the reason it won't work if I copy the files to the ROM.

[Q] Issues restoring framework-res.apk

Hey Guys,
I have been attempting to mod my framework-res.apk to try and add a percent battery icon (unsuccessfuly so far). Here is my issue, after finding that my modded framework file isnt working properly, I go to try and restore the original. After restoring the original I still get tons of FC's and the only way to get things back to normal is to restore my backup from CWM.
The method I am using to replace my framework-res.apk is to use a root explorer (ES File Manager) to copy the file to /system/ then from there I modify the permissions and then move the file to the framework folder, overwriting the existing file. After this, I reboot the phone.
My question is, why is my original framework-res.apk file causing force closes? It is starting to make me think that even my modded files are ok, but that the issue is arising in the manual transfer.
Sorry if the answer is posted elsewhere, I googled and was only finding issues with the apk not being compiled correctly, but that shouldnt be an issue with the original apk.
*EDIT* I figured it out. It appears it was because Jkay Deluxe was installed. I decided to reflash the rom and try with a fresh copy of the framework-res.apk and everything appears to be working now.

[Q] How do you change the wallpaper on settings submenus in CM7?

I currently use a HTC HD Mini (Photon) running the SCREAM ROM by Ling Gan. It has a few bugs for most of which there is either a workaround or fix but there is the one problem which has remained unsolved: the default wallpaper on everything BUT the home and lockscreens cannot be changed. It is of a tree in a meadow under a blue sky and when rotated to landscape changes to some smiling chinese lady in the "settings" submenu. Doesn't hamper use much but it is quite annoying.
I have tried a number of solutions some of which resulted in my having to reflash and others did nothing. I post this here because I think it is a CM7 issue. The ROM developers have so far been unable to post a solution within the thread and I am aware that a fix for similar problems on CM9 ROMs exists using ADB to edit framework-res.apk. I felt it was time the problem was tackled by the wider XDA fam. Used google translate to look on the chinese site where the ROM is native to (mobile-kon) but found no help as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i think ur problem lays in the framework-res.apk it contains the look of the rom and the transition effects
you can mod apk with the apkmanager tool for ur computer in the frameworkresapk you should find the images u want to change replace them witch a black picture or something like that
if never done this befoure exept from changing some transition effects and i had a couple of errors among this
the easier way seems to search for the rom on another page cus the images ure stating are not standart in the cm7
SOLVED!

Many thanks!
I started off looking through the "res" folder in framwork-res.apk using Root Explorer to identify the images for the wallpaper. They were
Res/drawable-land-mdpi/screen-background-dark-transparent.png
And
Res/drawable-mdpi/screen-background-dark-transparent.png
I then created a copy of framework-res.apk on my SD card and copied it onto my pc. I created new wallpapers to replace the ones I just mentioned, one in portrait, the other in landscape. They were 320x480 and 480x320 respectively. Using 7zip on the pc, I placed them in the corresponding folders (/drawable-mdpi for protrait and /drawable-land-mdpi for landscape).
I copied framework-res.apk back to my sdcard and then fired up terminal emulator to run the following commands
su
sys -rw
busybox cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework
sys -rw
You might get error messages from running apps after this but ignore them and reboot. The idea is to replace the framework-res.apk in system/framework with the one you just edited.
After the reboot, you should have your newly created wallpaper showing up in settings in both landscape and portrait modes.
Please hit "thanks" for both jiffer1991 and I if this was helpful. Big ups to jiffer1991for pushing me in the right direction.

hm u got stuck in a bootloop thats what i meant when i mentioned errors =)
you could make a zip with the old framework res apk or reflash the cm rom
if u dont whipe data/cash ure setting will be safed
read some tutorials how to mod the framework res apk
I have an .zip file on the sd card.
Can i copy it to the Android system somehow?
Felix
P.S. can i zip the framework and remove the ".zip" to ".apk"?
It is most likely that the zip file you have is the ROM image from which you flashed in the first place. Changing the extension to apk is NOT what you want to do. I suggest you create a backup in CWM of you present configuration and after reflashing, you can then do a partial restore of your user data. But its like Jiffer1991 said, read up on CWM, theres an exhaustive guide on xda somewhere.
Thanks,
i installed my modified cm rom without wipe caches data or something.
And now i have my old datas back, with the new Background.

[Q] Neutrino v2.91 No boot animation

I would have posted this to the Neutrino rom development thread but I don't have enough post.
I have Neutrino v2.91 flashed and I have noticed that it doesn't have the neutrino boot animation. I checked the system\media folder and the bootanimation.zip is there. I thought maybe it was corrupt so I changed its name and installed another custom bootanimation.zip. That didn't work either. I flashed the boot.img from the Neutrino v2.91 zip file and that didn't fix it. I did all the wipes, permission fixes, and resets. Nothing fixed it.
I flashed AOKP and paranoid android over the weekend to test them out and their bootanimations worked fine. The neutrino bootanimation didn't work before or after that (probably because I restored a backup I had made before I flashed AOKP and paranoid android).
The bootanimation isn't going to keep me from using this rom because it is awesome but it would be nice to fix this problem.
I hope somebody has an idea on how to fix this.
Try installing the animation ZIP as /data/local/bootanimation.zip. If that happens to work, check permissions for /system/media as well as the ZIP inside it.
I copied the bootanimation.zip to data\local and it still didn't work. I set the permissions to rwx rwx rwx for the system\media folder and that didn't work either. I saw somebody stated that the boost script might remove the bootanimation. I don't know what the boost script would do to cause that. When i boot the phone the initial bootloader graphic is displayed and it says unlocked and then it vibrates and the homescreen appears. Thanks for the suggestions.
I figured it out. I saw that their was a discrepancy between the recovery system\bin and the original neutrino system\bin and I found a file called boot-dmesg. That reminded me that I had installed live-dmesg lite from the play store and then uninstalled it. I reinstalled live-dmesg lite from the play store and saw it had an uninstall option which I didn't use last time just the manage applications feature in settings. I had to use live-dmesg lite to installe the live-dmesg boot animation since the uninstall option was grayed out. I then used the uninstall option and now I have access to my bootanimation once again.
