I would have posted this to the Neutrino rom development thread but I don't have enough post.
I have Neutrino v2.91 flashed and I have noticed that it doesn't have the neutrino boot animation. I checked the system\media folder and the bootanimation.zip is there. I thought maybe it was corrupt so I changed its name and installed another custom bootanimation.zip. That didn't work either. I flashed the boot.img from the Neutrino v2.91 zip file and that didn't fix it. I did all the wipes, permission fixes, and resets. Nothing fixed it.
I flashed AOKP and paranoid android over the weekend to test them out and their bootanimations worked fine. The neutrino bootanimation didn't work before or after that (probably because I restored a backup I had made before I flashed AOKP and paranoid android).
The bootanimation isn't going to keep me from using this rom because it is awesome but it would be nice to fix this problem.
I hope somebody has an idea on how to fix this.
Try installing the animation ZIP as /data/local/bootanimation.zip. If that happens to work, check permissions for /system/media as well as the ZIP inside it.
I copied the bootanimation.zip to data\local and it still didn't work. I set the permissions to rwx rwx rwx for the system\media folder and that didn't work either. I saw somebody stated that the boost script might remove the bootanimation. I don't know what the boost script would do to cause that. When i boot the phone the initial bootloader graphic is displayed and it says unlocked and then it vibrates and the homescreen appears. Thanks for the suggestions.
I figured it out. I saw that their was a discrepancy between the recovery system\bin and the original neutrino system\bin and I found a file called boot-dmesg. That reminded me that I had installed live-dmesg lite from the play store and then uninstalled it. I reinstalled live-dmesg lite from the play store and saw it had an uninstall option which I didn't use last time just the manage applications feature in settings. I had to use live-dmesg lite to installe the live-dmesg boot animation since the uninstall option was grayed out. I then used the uninstall option and now I have access to my bootanimation once again.

I don't have a boot animation..It's just black...I Odined then reflashed, I tried different roms to see what was wrong, And it works just fine on other roms. I'm not sure what could be causing it..Any ideas?
Go to system/media
Is the bootanimation.zip in there?
Edit:
Just uploaded it, download, move to that folder system/media, then reboot

Hello,
I installed the beautiful widgets anmation package. I got it to work for a little while and now it no longer works. I really like the cloud animation. Now, it no longer shows up, even if I set the animation during unlock.
Can anybody know how to get it to work
Make sure you have weatherpack-v4 folder and forecastaddon-v4 file in your sd/data folder...once it happened to me that flashing a rom or doing a factory reset(can't remember which) deleted that from my card. I put them back and it worked.
thanks I'll check it now
Hello Alex,
I don't have it.I only see the following folders:
1. beautifulwidgets
2.com.keramidas.titaniumbackup
I did uninstalled and install again the animation pack. I still don't see the folder. And the animation still doesn't work
I don't have a backup of the folder you mentioned.
How can I make it generate the said folder?
thanks
Sorry, I said sd/data. It should be in sd/data/beautifulwidget folder. I pm'ed you the files from my phone.
I replied your PM, you can reply
I was checked the animation version.
I only have version1.01
Ok, so here's my problem: I just downloaded the Galaxy S Pulsar bootanimation for my phone here and I can't seem to get it to work. My phone would flash the Vibrant screen, stay black (as if the bootanimation is still playing) and then load up android.
So far, I did as the thread instructed and originally placed the bootanimation.zip inside system/media. I currently have the permissions set to rw-r--r-- but nothing's happening. I even just tried to move it to data/local with the same permissions and it still doesn't work. Could anyone give me some advice on this or tell if I'm doing this wrong? Thx in advance.
So I posted this previously a few hours ago and I got forwarded to the "how to" guide by jaekar99 from androidcentral on two ways to install bootanimation.
Flashing didnt' work because the zip wasn't designed for cwm.
I tried the root explorer method, and copy / pasted to my system\media root on my fascinate.
Both did not work.
I've searched long and hard for a fix but I've been drawing up blanks.
Can someone help? Thanks!
What kernel are you using? You have to have a kernel that supports custom boot animations.
Yes, you'll need to post up your setup to get help on this. Some kernels are able to change boot animation, some are not.
Also need to know what you are placing in there for boot animation - one of the ones floating around or custom?
Swyped on my Fascinate - please excuse any swypo's...

I'm running frankenclean 2.9.2. voodoo with the pb&j kernel.
And the bootanimation I'm trying to run is that decepticon bootanimation.
I can't post links yet =/
Basically I flashing the bootanimation didn't work because it wasn't made for that, so I tried the alternative method and tried to copy \ paste it to the system \ media folder, but nothing happened.
Is the animation you're referring to the one where pieces come together to form the decepticon logo? I found it here at Android Forums:
http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/29230-decepticon-droid-boot-animation.html
If so, I did try that out on my phone (SC 2.8 with JT's EC10 kernel) and it worked perfectly. I know that JT's EC10 kernel isn't exactly the same as the PB&J kernel, but it is the base for PB&J. I doubt imnuts would have removed this feature.
The other thing I can think of is that /system/ wasn't mounted as R/W when you tried to put the animation in there. Doing a search on it this morning, it looks like there are some issues with Root Explorer not correctly mounting /system/ as R/W. Some possible fixes mentioned were select R/O, then select R/W again or remove Root Explorer from the Superuser remembered list.
I personally use Super Manager, not Root Explorer. I have had no issues with it mounting /system/ as R/W. You could use Super Manager right now until the issue with Root Explorer is fixed or you find a good work around (like mentioned above).
Did you rename it to bootanimation.zip?
If you're trying to paste into /system/media you need to make sure /system is mounted as r/w as it is read-only by default. Probably why nothing happened when you tried to paste it there.

That's exactly what it was. I could've sworn I put on r/w both times I tried this previously, but apparently I didn't.
Funny thing was, both times when I wasn't in r/w mode, it at least visually showed that I pasted the file there. I even went back into root explorer to double-check.
Hi,
Is there any mod, which has the stock android 4 boot animation (like this)
I found this Thread, but he stopped developing and I love the stock boot animation. Is there one I can flash with cwm?
Thx
Michael
You only need root access and some file manager to change your boot animation. CWM is not necessary.
Use file manager that can mount system partition (probably need to check 'allow mounting system partition' in the settings) and replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip with your own custom animation (of course you should rename/backup your old/original bootanimation file just in case). Afterwards set permission of bootanimation.zip file to rw/r/r.
Ask creator of that thread to send you bootanimation.zip file, and you're set to go. Also there are tools for that, so if you want to, you can create an animation yourself.
I changed my boot animation few days ago, using this thread. Hope it helps you.
Thanks a lot a few minutes before I had found the windows boot animation too.
Here's a very nice site for boot animations. I'll try some
