Ok so I have a nandroid of the stock rom and my problem is that I think / system is to big so it won't flash. So could I flash someone else's? Also is it possible to trim the size of a nandroid

what he means Ian is that this section is JUST for the posting of roms/development and there's a section specifically for questions (and hopefully the answers you need)
So youre gonna flame him yet not answer his question....lol nice
yes you can buddie but don't trim it, but please there is a section in this forum for this questions
*nods* Hm, 330 posts....on purpose perhaps??? Knowing that he'd get immediate answers despite posting in the wrong place??? The questions continue.

I've never tried, but I heard that backups from different recoveries are incompatible. Make sure the foreign backup was made by a compatible recovery. And yes, this is surely in the wrong place. It should be reported and moved.
Its a dev question because it might involve Modding the file to run, I was thinking that it might work specially if the only thing stooping it was something that identified the device.
I'm sorry actually just got all the notifications on my phone.... I must of not seen them earlier.
I have been trying to figure this out and the only people who have the answer or the knowledge to mod a file would the the devs... therefore I should get the peoples advice who know what there doing. And it seems that there is no answer to this...regardless of where it is asked.
Sorry for...well not being to clear and I guess messing up on the position of the thread. I just though it had more in common with the dev section.

Easiest way to look at them. The Kernel is the brain, it is the control point. Everything goes through it.
ROM is more of what you see, the programs and such.
While it is much more indepth that's the basics of it. Just remember to never use either that is not built for your phone.

This doesn't belong in the development section, or any. A Google search would yield results. And if you don't know the difference, you shouldn't even consider rooting.

Your explanation helps. I have messed with linux kernels on my computer before, but I wanted to make sure about this because its my phone and not a spare pc during around. Lol

Well...
You have to admit, at least the subject is dead on.
Symptom of a larger issue, I believe...
We need to separate things a bit better. All the support for the ROMS going on in here seems to be confusing people?
Dev forum, release forum, support forum, perhaps? XDA is becoming a huge mess which explains the recent off-shoots.
What kernel do you like to use?
Stock CM7, Glitch, Or some of the older ones?
What frequencies do you also like to use as well?
What kernel would you like in Runnymede SII update of espresso rom?

Glitch ... I'm not a big fan of the "stock" kernel. I have been trying to get the Glitch kernel flashed with Espresso Runnymede SII but I cannot get to work. Is there anything special that I need to do in order to get the Glitch kernel flashed? I have flashed CM7.1 then flashed Espresso SII and then tried flashing Glitch but each time I only get to the Android splash screen and it never goes past that. Please help.
BTW ... I love your Rom. It is one of the better ones that I have flashed to my phone and I have tried them all. Just fix a lot of the fc's.

Dude don't get me wrong I love JT's work also and appreciate everything that he has done for the Fascinate. I just prefer a different kernel than his, no offense to anyone else.
I have been reading these forums for several months now and everyone always takes things so personal, most people on here love what they do and want to put out a great product for their phone and share in their profit.
I wish everyone would just get along and help each other out. Thanks to all the developers for their hard work and I appreciate everything that they have done.

It doesn't make proper backups, and it doesn't load boot.Img. on old backups, which makes it pretty much worthless. If you have had any luck feel free to chime in, but I strongly don't recommended using it.
Edit: it works for some people

Works fine for me, but why not go over to Rootzwiki and tell him?
Some other people are having the same problems as I am, so I figured I would put a warning, there are perfectly working recoveries out there already, so Im not too concerned about troubleshooting it.
Rootzwiki doesn't have an optimus v forum, why would I post it there?

Nonono, the Recovery forum. The the Razor recovery.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
I have had zero issues with it making and restoring backups. Now if your trying to restore a cwm style backup it will not restore the ext partition. But I remember there being incompatibilities with xionna and cwm also so it might just be a simple fix.
I agree with Curiousnoob why not post at rootzwiki? The thread I linked to is the support thread for the recovery.
Also your title is misleading, you assume because three people are having issues everybody is/will. There is also the fact the recovery is not called razor..bleh.
When I posted this, nobody had any success stories with the recovery, I was trying to save some headache, I will edit it

All the newer devices are really getting better, but still kinda sucky. :/
I have a HD2, and the roms aren't good. It's just the phone that's gpod. Bad battery life, Reception drops alot, buttons stop working soon, screen goes unresponsive, again, soon. ICS really isn't a big whoop. the rom barely has Camera working. :/

Flash the stock 2.3.4 with root and then flash siyah or entropy's kernel for CWM. There's your spoon feeding for the day
Sent from team Pirate! Using Tapatalk 2
Questions belong in the Q&A forum, not general.
Many of the methods will not work. You can flash a custom kernel which injects root (increments the flash counter.) There is a rooted stock ICS in the original development section (does not increment the flash counter.)
No no no! Creepy, they don't want the EASY way dude. Have u learned nothing? They want to update with kies. So they can make a thread about not being able to update with kies. Then make another about the correct drivers and how kies sucks in general. Then they wanna use that for 2 days , find out how bad it sucks, then try and flash back to something else with Odin. Except they can't get Odin to work. New thread time again! Then once they get that spoon feeding goodness they wanna Odin back to stock and flash a new ROM. Except....wait for it....they're getting status 7 errors cause they're trying to flash a ported i9100 rom! New thread baby!!!

@Phalanx: you missed the part where they use galaxys2root.com and brick their phone, so they create a thread, but since they don't have time to read or search they try to fix the problems by using rom manager, leading to another brick and another thread

You have to understand that these people have learned from hard work and research.. The answers are out there. It doesnt take long to find out. They arent "being dicks". If you think about it, they are helping you because you are obviously are going to have more issues(small or big, still an issue) and if you read these stickies and posts, you wouldnt have any problem fixing them. And that just debloats these threads

Wrong thread. Yes. However. Yes you can. I've personally flashed several carrier ROMs using sprint kernel afterwords. Verizon however I get borked data. Fc settings. Tmo usually I can get OK but I do not suggest this to anyone that doesn't prepare for issues. Knowing a bit from owning g2 will help. It is same principle ...just I had too much fun one day.
