Calendar Sync CM09 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I couldnt find the development thread for CM09, so Im gonna ask it here, 2 days ago the sync with my Google calendar from some reason stopped, since then I tried flashing CM09 update-cm-9-20120423-NIGHTLY 2 times, but it didnt fix the problem, it started all of a sudden. Any ideas on how can I fix it
?
Doenst matter what calendar app I downloaded same result. It doesnt show my calendar, seems like the sync is broken or something when ever I go to accounts, and click on Sync calendar, its running for a few seconds then stops like it finished, but the Calendar is still not loaded.

Try a factory reset in the first instance. Then try flashing latest 25/04 CM9 nightly (do a clear cache/Dalvik after you flash it). If that doesn't work, ask in the CM9 discussion thread (good thing you didn't find the dev thread & post an issue like that; you'd likely end up with an infraction/ban. This isn't a dev issue).

Thank you Sir

No probs Let us know how you go/anything you did to fix it that worked.

I have fixed the problem, just removed my main account, and added it again. It was pretty easy, but still I wonder why it stopped syncs all of a sudden. Anyhow, Thank you all for your help.

last time i checked you cant remove main account..... is that the gmail account you signin to setup your phone??

Yep. Seems like you can do it, I have 2 accounts. It might be only with CM09. or with ICS. Because I remember you had to do a reset in order to change the main mail in Gingerbread as well. So it sort of suppressed me as well.

Glad you got it sorted easily without doing anything too drastic. I'll remember to suggest deleting/re-adding the account first next time this one pops up in here

Yep.. You do that!

Gtalk and market issue

I change my gmail acount for personal reason. I delete the old account. so I wat to remove the gmail account in menu: Account& sync. But it told me to do factory reset. After that, I sign in using new Gmail account, but I can not download app from market anymore. And G talk can not start.
I already create some new acoounts to sign in but still cannot download from market.
I search web and every forum, but dead end. no solution can fix this problem. Every others just find like: email sync, internet, calling, sms, mms. Just gtalk and market.
I already go to SE Service Centre in my country, but they same can not help.
What can I do to fix? Can someone plese help me with this problem?
Thanks
sounds like you need to re-flash, try to backup your stuff, flashing may be a last case senario but its a strong option...

I see. Can you point me how to flash? Because I already try to flash few times. but no luck still not works. And I just update again just now and still can not download from market and open Gtalk.
Any better suggestion?
Thanks.

I am facing the same problem for a few days...tried everything from the little info on google that was available, nothing worked even not reflashing the phone
I am stuck on this..but just posted the issue on google help.
If i get some answers i will let you know
cheers
My brother has the same issue on his xperia x8, ive tried unistalling the market updates, clearing the data on all google apps. Tried factory reset and re flashed using SUES. Still the same issues, can`t download from the market and gtalk closes down almost instantly.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
yeah. so funny. My wife's x8 work perfect with her email or my email. But my x10 not. although I use her email and my email. So my conclusion... maybe there is something wrong with the phone. But I did not change anything just email and factory reset. and unfortunately my previous email already been deleted by me.
Now my x10 is so lame, cannot rooted and no more powerful app from market.
Please... if someone got the fix or accurate information, please post here.
(If someone ever post to fix by doing clear cache/update in application>market.....etc, I can say not work.)
Let's us all try to find the fix for this problem and discuss it together in this thread. Oke?
Thanks.

Since update to Android 2.1, I can not find "uninstall update" there anymore.
As I remember, sometimes ago, few friends experienced same problems, but this tips can solve the problem. But that time, my x10 never hard to download. But now, it is my turn. But the old tips could not help anymore.
Thanks.

yes. but it apeears: "username and password not match" (or something like that.)
because I already deleted my old email.
I found so many same case with google. but still no logical explaination from Google or SE.
Tonight I try to flash back with this ROM 2.0.A.0.504 Generic. As I know this is the original rom for Indonesia. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hope and pray this can help to fix the problem
Still can not download from market after flashing ROM.
Nothing fixes this problem, I tried everything possible....maybe it is an account conflict on the google server or something...This sucks big time

So you already recreated your deleted gmail account and use the same password and it still cannot run correctly? Have you tried to run setup wizard again?
Have you tried to wipe all your data?
I once wipe my gtalk data using titanium and I cannot access market because gtalk closely connected with market. What I did is factory reset my phone because original flash cannot work. It wipe all my data back to original nordic generic. Well just sharing my case. Hope it can help.

GPS is not working!

Hey guys, I installed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865580 it's great, working (and looking) like a charm!
Thing is GPS isn't working! Maybe it's cus I haven't set up the APN settings yet, but I thought GPS didn't need it (I'm connected to Wi-fi for google to load up the maps)
Maybe it's something I deleted while cleaning it up even more? Which apk is needed for GPS?
It used to work fine in the older ROMs, now the icon still appears, I turned it on through the widget and still google keeps waiting for "my location" and doesn't find it.

[Q] Issues with the contacts on LPH ROMs

Hi, the truth is I´m having a little strange issue. First I thought it was a problem in a ROM. but after trying a few LPH ROMs and start removing things, I have concluded that it is the contacts syncro. I´ll try to explain myself a bit better to see if someone comes up with some solution.
If I install any LPH ROM (I tried 5 or 6 different) and I skip the gmail account, I have no problems in access to the contacts app or the phone one, but when I sync with gmail two things happens:
1. I can still go to the phone, from there to favorites and from there to all contacts. In this way, I see contacts perfectly.
2. But If I go to the contacts application The screen locks turns into to black, after that the phone application also crashes and I have to reboot.
I tried to correct permissions. Even with a cache cleaner (read that cleaning the cache of the contacts could help) but I'm pretty sure it will not be the correct way to clean the cache of contacts.
Let's see if someone comes up with a little something becouse I´m running out of resources ...
Thanks and best regards

[Q] Known Contacts Showing up as (Unknown) in Recent Calls??

Anyone else having this problem? In my Recent Calls list there are only 4 out of 75 that shows my contact's name & image. The rest just say (unknown) and have the number listed. I looked at these 4 contacts to see what makes them different and I see no obvious differences that would make them somehow poll differently. I've had this issue since I got this phone and am finally fed up with it.
Another problem I'm having that may or may not be related is that when I type on the number pad to search for contacts via number or name... it doesn't work. When I start typing characters of someone's name the results just dwindle down w/o rhyme or reason. For instance, if I type my wife's name... nothing. If I type Chis I end up with three contacts with the name of Chris. That's nice but I have 8 contacts with the name of Chris. When I type any other name there is no results. Coincidentally if I type one of the 4 contacts from the problem above they will show up.
It appears as though there is some sort of disconnect between HTC's phone stuffs and my actual contacts and what not. Is there a cache I can clear or something to get this to work? Some sort of setting to get this to function properly?
Thanks for the help.

Stock ROM, rooted and unlocked bootloader. Contacts are linked to Google, not Facebook. As for cache & davlik... I have had this phone for a while now and this problem has existed since day 1. I have cleared them both for other issues and the problem remains so I don't think that is going to solve it as it hasn't yet. I appreciate the tip though.

Have you tried unlinking your google account and relinking it? Are you on the latest update from sprint (2.13 RUU)? have you fixed permissions?
This happened in 1.22 as well, its a problem with their contact linking. As soon as I linked Google plus and Facebook sense merged the info and disregarded the Google contact info, I had to reset and the numbers came back with out the actual info unless I opened their contact info. When I re linked Google plus and Facebook they came back

I'm on 1.13 still. I don't have Google+ or Facebook linked though as I didn't want to deal with all that mess and the people I actually wanted in my contacts I enter manually into my Google contacts. I don't think this is the cause of my issues.
It sounds like the exact same issue except you haven't linked any info. Maybe it'll be addressed whenever the next update comes. I didn't have this problem until after the second update

I may jump to CM10 once it's final as there's still a few minor bugs that I don't want to live with. In the meantime I just want to get this stupid call history bug fixed. Is there something specific I can clear the cache of or detach and reattach that might resolve this? I did plenty of Google searches and I see some people talking about factory resets but then half of those say that doesn't even work. The last thing I want to do is a factory reset and that is if it was even a know fix for this issue.
It's a bug in sense as far as I could tell, perhaps installing a different dialer from the market that integrates history and contacts will help
Something else I noticed today since I uninstalled GoSMS and went back to the stock SMS app... my contacts aren't showing up in my conversation list or the main screen. Only a couple of them show a picture and name and the rest are all the phone number only. This is especially annoying when I want to find someone in my conversation list to send a text message to because I have no idea who is who. This bug is driving me nuts.
Well, today I found a work around... sorta. If you go into each contact and then set default action under individual settings for each contact (yes... each one) so that the default method is a text message (calling may work too... haven't checked). Once I did this my contacts had images and names in the call log and the messages. I did notice that while I was doing this the first two I did had to be done again for some reason so I don't really know what is going on, what this fixes or ho long it may or may not last but if anyone else finds this... here's a possible fix.
Nope... still doesn't work. I thought I found this band-aid fix to make it work but after a few days it went back to not being linked. No contacts photos and no names. Just a bunch of phone numbers in my SMS list and my call log. This is very frustrating. Is there a cache I can clear or something other than the phone's main cache and dalvik? Is there an app in my app list or two that I can clear the cache of to get this to reload properly? I don't want to go back to GoSMS (too much spam and too much fluff) and it doesn't fix my call log anyway.
You could try clearing data from contacts storage in app settings or the 3 people apks then resync and see if that helps

Why would I need to fix permissions if I'm on the stock ROM? I thought that was only something you needed to do if you changed ROMs, no?
Not necessarily, if you do something as simple as restore a backup with titanium you might have to fix permissions, if you format internal and restore apps, you might have to fix permissions. If you change something in the Rom like remove bloat, it might affect other apps and you might have to fix permissions.
There's contact storage, then you have people, its broken down into 3 seperate pieces. Each one is responsible for different features like contact linking and contact sync from other accounts

I've rooted an unlocked... that's about it. If this could be my problem then I need to know how to fix it. Also, I get an error message whenever I open Titanium Backup saying that my device ID has changed and it asks if I wanted to change it back. I keep putting that off because I had hacked DropBox to get like 77gb of storage using the LTE Evo and then the SGS3 hack. After an update it lost the SGS3 storage space so I was going to look into this again and how my device ID applied before I did anything. I'm to the point now where I don't even care about the DropBox thing anymore and should probably figure out how to proceed with this whole device ID thing that TiBackup keeps warning about. Not sure if that could have any relation to this problem but seems like it could so that's why I just mentioned it.

So there are 3 different APKs for this? So I need to find each one in my installed list and clear data/cache? Any idea what they're called if that's the case so I clear the right ones?

[SOLVED][Q] after phone reset, device does NOT ask for google sign in

hi all
short story: galaxy s3 has the mainboard malfunction problem. had the phone replaced. what i got was the same IMEI handset, yet all wiped.
i was looking forward to the nice app restore feature.
however after setting language, timezone, etc. the phone is not taking me to the google sign in page, so to associate my handset with my account (hopefully restoring some of my data)
any idea why the phone does not ask for a google account sign in after reset?
i've updated to 4.1.2 on kies but the same issue, phone says it is all setup without asking for google sign in.
any tips how to make it ask for it at first device setup so to retrieve all the data backed up on google servers?
many thanks, all input appreciated.

Never had this issue myself, my only assumption is that the software isn't right otherwise it'd be asking right? Have you Rooted the handset? If so then pop on a ROM you like and see if you yield the same results.

@dladz yes, the solution was to flash a new rom.
but no need for custom roms
SOLUTION: for anyone who might come across this unusual behavior
-if you do not get asked for google (and samsung) account after hard resets (through recovery console or otherwise) you have to reflash the same version with Odin. no need to tick 'reformat' or anything. i used the same stock version (gotten from http://androidromupdate.com - slightly differetn csc and phone) and it solved by itself just like this.
goes to show how little we actually know about Android's entrails..
