GPS Dongle estimated delivery: 2 weeks from registration? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I contacted ASUS support about the GPS dongle to see if they'd be able to shed some light on delivery estimates, and this is what I got:
Hi there,
9 days ago, I applied for the "TF201 GPS Extension Kit" for the Asus Eee Pad
Transformer Prime TF201. I have seen reports that some customers have already
received their kits, but my application status has been on 'processing' for quite some
time. Could you let me know if there is some delay or provide me with an estimated
ship date?
I purchased the TF201 in the United States in December but I am now in the UK,
hence the UK shipping address. I hope this will not be a problem.
Many thanks,
Thomas Handley

Hi Thomas
Thanks for contacting Asus Technical Support.
The estimated delivery for GPS extension kits is 2 weeks from registration.

So, according to their techs, expect your GPS dongle to be on its way from about 2 weeks after you applied for it (unless you've got it already of course).
Anyone else have similar reports/info from ASUS employees?

I got mine yesterday 4/25 and I registered 4/16.

I suspect they're doing this in waves. I presume that they had a limited number of first-batch units which got sent out to a few lucky people like yourself, and I'm guessing the estimate given to me is regarding the bulk of the orders.

I just wrote to them today...How long did they take to reply to your query...
waiting for an answer and most impatiently for my Extension Kit...it seems so cool

My status has said 'shipped' since last Wednesday. Finally, I called FedEx yesterday to inquire about the shipment and they said there is no shipment going to my address period under any of there services. Great! So, I called Asus Customer Service and they tell me the same thing. I then tell them that the status already says shipped and CS says you will have to wait 2 to 3 weeks from your application date and if is still hasn't arrived then they will send me another. I tell CSR that I have talked with FedEx and there is no shipment and CSR says they have to go by what the system says. So, I say....So, what your telling me is I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get a GPS Dongle you say you have shipped but the carrier doesn't show it and then I have to call you back again in 2 to 3 weeks and tell you again what we both know right now. This is crap!

You are not alone, there are several of us in the same boat. It's too bad that they are so disorganized. Probably not much we can do except wait.

It took them less than 24 hours to reply, which is pretty decent. I am slightly concerned though that their answer was very generic and isn't particularly solid.

Its true. Asus Malaysia replied one of the guy who asked,
"The dongle will be delivered within 2 weeks time from the date you have registered through vip.asus.com. If by then you have yet to receive, contact ASUS Hotline at 03-6279 5077. Thank you."

Yeah, that's pretty standard, two weeks or ten business days. That's the deadline I had already placed for myself to inquire about it if it still hasn't changed statuses or arrived.
Anyway, if you all haven't seen it, you can track your dongle by reference number.

On the phone with them right now, told them I had submitted order on the 17th and was still in the "submitted" phase, the rep asked me what color I had and then said that the Champagne colored dongles ship 3 weeks from order date.

i called them this morning and got the same answer, they said it could take up to 2 weeks from the date registered and at present they have a lot of applications to process so could take 3 weeks. he said i should get mine early next week.
its a waiting game and they its dispatched via DPD.
i registered in the 16 april and for me it still says "processing"..

You're just jealous
Jokes aside, yes, there are several threads on "Yay I got my dongle and it took X days to arrive" and dedicated threads about application status and the like, however I haven't yet seen any threads regarding actual information given by ASUS about projected shipping times, so I figured it would be a good idea to post some slightly more 'official' information from their own words alongside our own speculation.

My bad.. didn't realize you guys were so hard up on waiting for your dongle to arrive.
*edit* didn't see your edit.. I mean hey dude whatever, if Asus says 2 weeks than give them 3 and start asking questions, but that's just me. Maybe I have a little more patience than some

That link says available for me. I'm talking about the Champagne. The rest show backordered.

I called them and they confirmed them in stock.
Be careful, read the other thread on Abes.
They screwed a lot of people over already
Call to confirm stock before ordering.
I did. I plan on making a BIG deal of the issue if it doesn't arrive by next week because I cancelled an Amazon order from the 26th for it. But the salesman told me they we in the system and NOT a website error. They also told me that the remaining backorders had been pulled from the inventory.
EDIT: I looked on the other thread, and noticed that most people hadn't been charged. My Google Checkout account has been charged as of this afternoon so I hope that's good news.

My google checkout was also processed but I saw this thread and when I called them (and also did a Web/live chat) they said they had none in stock and hopefully will be getting more next week.
I sent her the link on this site (that even when speaking to her showed available) but she showed me a link,on the site that conflicted with mine.
Either way, if I hear nothing tomorrow morning I will call them to cancel.

They did it again?!
I will not be giving them my business ever. Just wait guys, best buy is getting them in stock every few days or so...newegg also.
Well, if they don't ship something before Wednesday, I'll block the payment on my Visa and play up the false-advertising card with them.
Plus, the salesman told me that my order was IN STOCK sitting in their warehouse. Anything less and I cancel.

Well it seems there is a disconnect within their ERP/Inventory system. After being told by 2 customer care agents that there were absolutely no tablets in stock, my card was charged and I am told now (when I gave my Abe's order number) that it will be delivered tomorrow morning.
Now, if after all this they do not send me my shipping number (this afternoon) as promised or deliver tomorrow - I WILL BE VERY PISSED (yes, this is me dramatically using all caps!)
I'll call and push the issue then. I noticed that they are still listed as in stock too. If there was an inventory system issue, dont you think that they would have fixed it?
They just told me that they recieved the shipment this morning, and my order will ship out no later than tommorrow! (Standard shipping speed)

All i can say is WOW!
I love this device and i have not had one problem.
As most people on this thread know i have been lurking about trying to make up my mind about getting this device.
I really want to tell people on the fence that the tfp is great (i have not tested GPS while driving, that is what my car or phone is for).
I just installed ICS and it is so smooth/fast and much cleaner than HC.
I will admit that the number of issues raised on this forum is indicative of serious (initial) QA/QC issues at Asus. I hope my experience means they have addressed this.

UPS says I should have it Monday.

My RMA Experience....

So I sent off my Asus Transformer Prime for several reasons.. Screen Bleeding, wifi and bluetooth issues, and a faulty connection between the prime and the dock, which resulted in the buttons only working 50% of the time, constant ejecting of the extra battery and SD card slot.
Now I live in the UK and there is no service centre here, so we have to send it to the Czech Republic to get serviced. I shipped it via UPS over a month ago and it arrived safely in the warehouse there. After the first week. I wonder why I haven't received word on anything about my device. I somehow stumble across an RMA status I was never told about. I see it as 'Repairing'.. after two weeks I still see it as 'repairing', and I decide to email tech support. I get nothing.
So I email Gary Key. He asks if I live in the US, and I say no. He never replies. So I message Derek Li.. He was very helpful but said he had no way to contact the European branch of ASUS, so that email conversation ended quickly. I contact ASUS support again, and they tell me they're waiting for a wifi module. I go check my status the next day and it has changed to 'WB1'.. Two weeks pass and still it is waiting for a part.
To conclude.. I have waited almost 5 weeks for my tablet to be returned. I am now doubting I will ever get it back.
ASUS has pretty much have taken my tablet and not replaced it.

FWIW, I RMAed mine to the U.S. service center in Texas for the post-ICS random-reboot problem. It just sat with no status change, so I called them back after their quoted "14 business days" period had expired and complained about the delay. A few days later, they shipped me out a replacement (came from California).
Overall from the day I sent it to when I got it back was just over 4 calendar weeks.
UPS Paid RMA return can Take A While !
I called to get my RMA number and was delighted to learn that my unit was going to a city in the same province in Canada that I live. They told me that they would issue instructions on one e-mail (RMA #, address, packing, etc) and a prepaid UPS tag on a second e-mail.
First e-mail came and I followed the instructions then waited a week for the UPS collect e-mail info. I called the support group and they stated that they only pay the return shipping. Figuring old age is setting in - I arranged to send the unit in myself.
Of course three days after the unit is shipped - I get an e-mail with a UPS tag addressed and ready to print.
Oh, well - at least I get it back faster but to those who are offered prepaid - it does take a little bit of a wait from the first e-mail.
In the UK, UPS arrived with a pre-printed address label. It was picked up yesterday afternoon and today it arrived at Asus and is now showing as being repaired. Hopefully it won't take too long.
So all good so far.
Hmm, guess patience is the key to getting all this done
I sent mine in on the 11th from Ireland. RMA status said repairing for a few days, then waiting WB1 which is what it's been saying since. Emailed asus support and they said they would not get the "spare parts" til the 3rd of march..!! I replied that it was unacceptable and that I demanded a quicker turnaround. I have yet to hear back from them.

But for me, I was always taught that "persistence pays off" There is no way in hell I would wait 14 days to "see what happens" as one post said, and I would not put up with ANY delays by Asus. period. I still don't get how people are afraid of offending someone in support. I have worked in support for too many years and believe me, we have thick skins. It's not like if you piss someone off they are going to spit in your soup, this is not a restaurant, LOL! Get every email and phone number you can find, and be the biggest pain in the arse they ever saw (or that you can muster up) because I can ASSURE you that the squeaky wheels get ALL the grease. You guys that sit quietly will get as much attention from support as you ask for. Ask for none, and you WILL get it. I promise.
I had my replacement back, in hand 5 days from when my defective Prime hit the Fedex Truck, and THAT was a day late because someone screwed up (but only ONE someone and only ONE screw up. That was with me all over them form the day it arrived, and I immediately started seeing "Not yet received, even though I had a "Signed by" name for the delivery. ****, I would start complaining that they are too slow BEFORE they get it. This way you can hit the ground running, LOL!
Mine now says Final Testing. Hopefully it'll be posted back quite soon then, in time for my holiday, which will be the real test if I can manage without a netbook.
This process is insane!
I decided to call my credit card company and explain what ASUS was pulling, and told them that I couldn't be without a tablet for 2 weeks.
They had me e-mail the vendor I bought it from (Don't want to name names because they did nothing wrong) even though it was past 14 days and request that they take it back for a refund or exchange.
When they responded that they could not, the credit card company reversed the charge on my credit card, and told me that they will have to do one or the other. It sucks that the seller did nothing wrong, but they will have to deal with ASUS, and not me. So either I'll have a replacement, or a refund and send back this Transformer.
If I do get a refund, I think I'll wait until all problems are resolved before I buy another.

3 Days since UPS dropped off prime for RMA... Still not acknowledge by ASUS

UPS delivered my Prime to the repair center in Grapevine, Texas three days ago. I checked the status again today and it still says

Has anyone else had this problem?
I am going to call them tonight if the status doesn't change.
Yes thats the norm. From what i have read in other topics, this always seems to happen. Pretty ****ty of asus if you ask me.
^^^^^
Expect something like another 2 days before they tell you that it's just going to sit there for three weeks.
They're supposedly waiting on "fix procedures" for WiFi/BT fallout and all that nonsense.
Same here. It's been 2 days for me.
Just wait a few more days.....it took them 7 business days before they keyed in my RMA.
My Asus turn around time was about a week for the OG transformer in Canada.
If you wanna talk about bad, I had a 1G ipod nano that got recalled, called it in Nov16, Box didn't show up until Dec 22, didnt get checked in Until Jan 16, and since then its been "waiting for product replacement" It is now almost March.
I dropped off mine myself as I live a couple cities over from the facility. Dropped it off last Thursday and have a new one I'm typing on now. So here's my timeline:
Thursday noon: dropped off
Friday: no change
Saturday: no change
Sunday: no change
Monday: around 5, RMA status finally showed received WB5 waiting
Tuesday: no change
Wednesday: no change
Thursday: around 5 showed new s/n shipped w tracking # (actually shipped 1 day prior)
Friday: in my hands, no communications via email
actually I emailed Asus and asked if I can drop it off myself, no response. So I just went by and they took it, gave me a form to write what was wrong with it and proof that they actually took it (the guy's signature).

RMA - wait then new silver top tablet
I sent mine in registered mail and I called them when I knew they had it. My theory is that they have a turn around time limit so they don't acknowledge the receipt so their repair time still looks good.
After I complained the next day it was getting repaired. The next day it was waiting for parts. Ironically the keyboard dock arrived 8 weeks after the tablet and now the tablet is waiting for parts.
Two days later Fed-Ex was shipping a unit from California. Got a new one with a silver top. It doesn't match the blue keyboard but still looks good (I'm not waiting 8 more weeks).
I don't know if it is the new top but the GPS is definitely improved as the GPS will bring in ~ 5 satellites in my study when I never - ever saw a hint of a satellite on my older tablet indoors.
Anyone thinking of sending in an RMA - make sure it is registered and traceable.

Some people see the CG as "silver" and the AG as "blue" or "purple." So, I'm sure he's saying he received a CG unit to replace his AG unit (although why ASUS would do that is beyond me).

So about 2 days after my Tablet was in the repair state it moved to WB5- Waiting. It has been there ever since (approximately 3 weeks now). I talked with Asus and they offered me a full refund on my device.
Guess I'll play the waiting game to see if I can get the Prime available elsewhere and then cash in with Asus when I order it. Though, they'll probably get stock before anyone else does, so maybe I'll just end up with a new one through them.

Hey, i have ordered my GPS dongle, 16 April, the second the registration page was opened, and have even started the thread on the general section about this, and how to do this.
Still i have no Dongle, i live in The Netherlands and i have the champagne version.
Secondly, my collegue, who bought a prime also, and also the champagne version, who registred a few days after 16 April, cant say which date exactly, but im certain after, has already received it...
Its quite messy this, First in, Last out?
Thnx Asus =/
Same here. I have asked them what is going on but no response yet.
I'm from Portugal, and have yet to receive it. Registered on the 17th of april.
Yesterday i sent a technical question through asus vip site. Today received an answer saying there was a lapse in the gps requests that were sent around that time.
He said that he contacted the 'main base' and requested for my dongle to be sent to me ASAP. So... now i'll just wait and see.
I have the grey amethyst prime.
Best of luck to all of us...

still nothing
not necessarily
I just got the dongle today (In Israel), and I just checked the asus website and it still says that my order is being processed.
I applied for the dongle on 17/04.
I guess that asus haven't gone to great lengths to update the actual status of these dongles. I also just about gave up on the dongle thinking that asus just doesn't ship to my country and then all of a sudden it appears in the mail.
So that kinda sucks because you have no real indication as to what's going on with your dongle, but still it might just pop up soon.
Good luck!
Same as above. Got it, page still says the application is being processed. Your mileage may vary
Just got my dongle around 10 mins ago and it still says my order is in process. It's working fine, got 16 sats and 3 locks inside our house.

Average RMA return time

Guy/Gals,
Just trying to get a sense of how long a typical RMA cycle is. Please post how long in Days/Weeks/Months it took for you to get your Prime back from RMA.
I'm going through the process now and am currently waiting on my return authorization which I started yesterday.
Thanks
Seems different for everyone. Some wait a month, some 2 months, some dont get theirs for over 2 months. When I sent mine to CA for a replacement I had a new prime a week after mailing the old one. My TF101 went in for RMA recently and I didnt get it back for like 4 weeks
One other question - sorry.
Does Asus tell you what they found/fixed? It would be nice to know so we can post it here for others in the future.
It took less than a month for me (around 20 days). I am in Belgium and I had to send it to Czech republic. You will get a paper about what they did and what they changed.

WOW - what problem did you send it in for??
Two different RMAs for me, both for the green camera issue. Including shipping time, the first took four weeks (Feb. 2nd to March 1st), the second took nine weeks (March 17th to May 25th).

Cracked screen
Had to RMA mine for not being able to charge the tablet. Got the RMA number on the 19th, sent on the 21st received on the 22nd and it only took the one day to fix it. would of gotten it back within a week but Saturday delivery wasn't selected and of course memorial day set it back one more day. Really fast on my side but I'm going to have to send it back because the right side of the screen wasn't set correctly and is bowed out just a bit and I guess when they were opening it up they pried to hard on the tabs, or whatever those things are to the left and right of the USB connector and now there's a pry mark there. not a big issue but the tablet is no longer in 100% mint condition like it was before I sent it.
Forgot to mention the tablet is also rooted on .21 and they didn't say anything about it
I sent it on 2nd april and it returned on 12th april, with easter days in between. It was sent to czech republic, that is not so far from milan. It was also rooted but i didn't have to pay anything.

Very happy, just got word they sent it out today. I will get it on Thursday. I think I sent it out on the 21st. +they received it on the 25th. So It's looking like 8 days not counting first and last shipping day.
I sat on my rma number for just under the 30 day limit. It was hard to let go. Lol

Did you call them to setup the RMA or use the on-line form? I actually e-mailed them and they responded to do either. I used the on-line form but have not received an answer yet. I might have to call but I hate talking to people that just use a flow chart to do anything. Very annoying.
I had to email them twice before getting a rma number/ response.

Mine was at the service center here in Bangkok for two weeks for GPS & WiFi/BT problems (first batch.) I believe most of the delay was just waiting for the GPS dongle to arrive - when I went to pick it up with my pad, I asked if they'd fixed the WiFi/BT issue as well, which they hadn't, so they took it back and had it out to me, completely fixed, 30 minutes later.
That said, I wouldn't have known it was ready to be picked up if I hadn't called them every few days to check the status.
Never recieved anything about my on-line RMA request so I called them this morning. The customer service rep was good but you can tell she was just using a flow chart.
Shipped out my Prime today. I was suprised to get an e-mail with the postage paid by Asus via FedEx. I still had to pay for extra packing but that's OK. I hope this is a quick turn around. Wish me luck.
Sent my rma to dingotech the 9th of may, courier delivered it on the 10th,
rung them about the 18th, they said it would be finished and returned within 5 working days.
didn't hear anything about it for a week, repair agent is uncontactable by phone, and asus say that their behind by up to 3 weeks!
asus says dingotech only received it on the 28th of may, and could be up to another 3 weeks to see the end of it!!
current status according to my serial number is Repairing.
has said that since the 28th.
dingotech say they have escalated my repair as of the 1st (today) to same day diagnosis, maybe up to 3 working days if parts are required. do you think i can believe them?
the only reason i sent it in was because of the unknown serial number issue, causing OTA updates not to show up. its only 2 weeks old, before i sent it.
if only i was happy with just manual updates..... asus did ask why dont you just download them from the site.
Well it's the 6th. Asus received my Prime on Monday morning but ASUS RMA tracking shows that it has not been received. I'm calling them tomorrow but you would think their receiving software would be linked to their RMA status software somehow and update the RMA tracking database. My bet is if we could track our devices throughout the RMA process and not see major delays with no explanation the calls to Asus customer reps would be less. Asus_usa are you listening?
About 25 days
For me it only took about 2 weeks and I got it back in perfect working order. My guess is that it varies depending on what the issue is.
