what about the chinese version ?
The installation went well for the most part, but when I turned it off to test the startup time shortly afterward it stalled out. I had to reset it. Since then, there have been no issues. Everything seems a little faster. Menus are responsive, and there seems to be a lot less lag in general. I haven't played much with the small apps, but they seem to work well enough. The desktop folders are a nice feature. I was especially looking forward to swiping away notifications to close them, and I have not been disappointed. The feature works perfectly. I think all the little features plus the improved performance make this update a success. +1 to Sony on the upgrade. Next time, a little more communication on release timelines would be preferred. Hopefully the recent re-org will change things for the better.

I really want to know when the latest .73 firmware for UK Xperia S will be released. Also if anyone currently running .73 would like to expand on battery life?
Well it's been a month tomorrow since it was released in singapore, other euro countries have got it. Sonymobile uk have said it is out but no one has confirmed they got it. So it might never come out. At this rate ICS may be out on the S before this patch get's released. I am using the NL generic using Flashtool and you can flash it without needing to root.

I find it better less bloat feels smooth just like SG. I use NL feels close to the invisible UK update.

Not sure. It came through and updated using the pc companion. The phone works fine as well. Not sure anything has changed apart from the firmware number though. Slightly better battery.

The telus ics update is suppose to come out today. Can people post in here when they update.
I am just trying to see if i will recive the update because my amaze is a telus that is sim unlocked with rogers.
Thank you
Hey LionMan. I saw your post on mobile syrup as well.
I'm in the exact same boat - unlocked on Rogers.
Crossing my fingers there is no issue with getting it.
On that note, I used to run a Bell Legend on Fido and I received an OTA update to gingerbread for that one so it should work.
Hey guys I'm with Telus aswell. I've been checking for updates all day and still nothing. Are you guys seeing the ICS update? You don't think it'll get delayed again and not release today do you?

Well guys it's looking like we may still have to wait a bit, I just read an article posted May 23 saying Telus will release ICS may-june. So I guess there's no official release date set in stone...

When the update says it's finished downloading, do no install yet, choose to install later, browse to your internal sd card and check the download folder, there should be an ota file, copy that to your pc and upload it, should be about 400mb, maybe more or less, should be about that or less since Telus doesn't add anything to the stock rom htc sends them.
I am done loading the ota now! So excited

Pull the file when it's finished downloading before you install.
I'm updated... but I have to wait till at home to upload...
Maybe it will help others :
before updating, I relocked my bootloader and get the telus RUU (2.3.4)
Then I did the OTA Update.
But I had to do that twice. The first time it didnt work but no error message, I was still on 2.3.4 when rebooted.
The second time, it took 10-15 minutes with 2-3 different HTC splashscreen.
Enjoy!!!
Its official Telus has relseased the update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
too bad im at work at cant download the update till i get home, could do it on data but it would cost me $20 in the end lol
Could someone please save the ota file and upload it, because if you download the update and proceed with updating, the file will be deleted automatically.

opening apps for 1st time is slow but after that is butterly smooth.
screen swiping is damn smooth.
love how google now works although i don really use it.
quadrant score is around 3.3k in performance mode
and again screen rotation take 4-6 seconds!

I seem to remember at least one Nexus 7 review said this slowness was a 'feature' - i.e., to prevent accidental rotations...as such it might be intentional.
My screen rotation animation starts after one second and completes a half second later. If the virtual keyboard is up, it takes an extra second for the rotation animation to start. I haven't experienced any 4 to 6 second delays but it could conceivably be slower with more resource-intensive apps.
Awesome update, running stock unrooted, web browsing is much, much better, its actually enjoyable now. I havent tried chrome yet, was only using stock browser with default settings with flash set to always on.
Project butter makes things run smoothly.
Google now is pretty awesome.
Thats all i noticed for now.
Great job asus!!
Update went well. Chrome running great. Weather Widget stuck on Centigrade. Scrolling is nice and smooth. No complaints after an hour of use.

i m afraid i ll disagree
after 3-4 reboots..
performance IS better though dont excpect to see the butterness of a galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7. Stock launcer is by far improved, faster smoother and very very responsive. I noticed some lag when scrolling on portrait mode but it was the moving wallpaper...disable it and itll be ok.
screen rotation IS noticable faster
opening apps IS faster though i noticed a small hickup when opening some of the times
Google now is working lovely, fast and loud. When in portrait at lock screen the google now icon dissapears, u have to landscape it to appear and use..:silly:
Chrome is a bit faster...not much, but it is better at least in responsivness...no ANR till now. Stock browser still better..
Nova launcher wich i use needs a clear cache/data and then its absolutely amazing
stock gallery takes about 3-4 sec everytime to open ..thats bad
Youtube app seems faster overall to me..
Maps just the same..
seems to me Asus did a good job here...just good

I got the same message and even rebooted a couple times with no success. Then i gave up and left it alone, and like 10 mins later my prime notified me that it dowmloaded the update and is ready to install. So i guess anyone with a greyed out check update box, it will eventually download on its own.

*UPDATE*
Finally began downloading the update after the 5th time of rebooting and then checking for update. The install took roughly 18-20 minutes. No issues with the install so far. Slightly laggy, but that's normal until a few reboots after firmware update (every firmware update has been like that for me so I'm pretty sure it's normal).
So far so good

My Wifi is still slow but thats expected with the metal cover.. Thats about the worse thing I can say at the moment..
Has anyone tried replacing the primes back cover with one from a TF300? Isn't it the exact same size??

I'll be holding off updating until a root method is discovered, the reason being that I'd like to restore my user apps with Titanium Backup, as I'll be resetting to factory defaults right after the upgrade. Not taking the chance of crap performance manifesting itself later after my god-awful experience with ICS. If by the end of October I'm still dissatisfied with my Prime, I'll be selling it at a loss and saying adiós to ASUS.
I got the download, but when I try to install it and rebooted it said it failed. Went to check update again, it's says there's no update.

Maybe you need to read issues before posting. We have no properly running drivers for ICS or JB. So things like this won't work perfectly soon or possibly even ever. Since Motorola is not updating us we will not be getting these drivers to make these things work properly. Reasons for heating are it being overclocked. So drop it to 1ghz to keep it from heating up.

Hey....the Photon isn't junk. It's a seriously nice piece of hardware. Just because the manufacturer is making douche moves doesn't make the device not worthy of praise.

@ganeshshas
i) For Opera, the latest version does not work. Try (i know it will work because it has worked for me always) to get version 11 of Opera and i bet it will work.
ii) I use CNA, and it has a reputation over here for its battery life on the Photon. Try that. But, keep in mind, even if u use the stock or CNA and use the phone heavily, it would not work for more than 4 hours. Sure of that. Plus, WiFi is always going to suck on the battery, so if u think any ROM will give u more battery life on WiFi, the answer sadly is No.
iii) We do not have drivers. Th3Bill and Joker have been giving this phone the best and i know it will get better, but issues are always going to be there. For Jitter, try the latest versions of CNA and AOKP and CM10 by Th3Bill, jitters have been reduced by 95% on his builds.
iv) Facelock is a show off feature right? i mean come on....who uses it on a regular basis...but Th3Bill is the man, he would do something for sure....
v)I Play Minecraft on a regular basis, and else than just a little bit of stuttering, there is nothing wrong with the touch response...have even played Riptide and only the Music stuttered.....
vi) I have only noticed the phone heating up when constantly searching for 3G (when one sets WCDMA Only in the *#*#4636*#*# menu) otherwise, it never heats up. Not even when playing any game for long.
I advice u to update the ROMs to the latest from Th3Bill.

Still,
I'm facing shaking problem while playing games like,. bad piggies, jetpack joyride and granny smith like such games,...
and battery is too worse
And mainly chrome Force closing...
No touch response while playing big games like TinTin,..
And Nova 3 is not supporting CM10 photon. But it is supported in 2.3.5.... ?
I've been sporting Joker's CM10 for a while now, and now that it's gotten some love from th3bill, I'm loving it even more. Battery life is poor, but I've accepted that and carry around a spare battery when I know I'm going to be away from electricity for a few hours. lol
Thanks a bunch th3bill for taking this on, it's greatly appreciated.
I want to upgrade new cm10 build with existing cm10 on my mobile.with out losing data....
Can somebody pleas help me to update with out losing data?

You just wipe dalvik cache, and cache partition, install new zip, fix permissions and reboot. To make sure you don't lose anything do as full backup first so you can go back if something goes wrong.

Great.. Hope the update come for consumer cellular version
I was stunned when I opened the email a few minutes ago. Not forgotten after all.
The HAM2 is already the best phone I've ever owned, but to have the company decide to actually push out the latest Android version is amazing!

Well this seems promising but I think a more important question would be when will Huawei start supporting unlocking the bootloader without the hassles of sending emails for the US version?
Thank you, and I wish you well with the beta program, but count me out. THANKS to those that will take the beta challenge, but I will wait for the final release.
Even after release, I'll wait a week or two, to see how it goes. If it appears stable, then I might have a go.
Why the hesitation? Because Huawei did such a great job of tweaking 4.3 to the specs of the mate2, that I have experienced ZERO issues! I can run for weeks without any lock ups, and only reboot it because I feel guilty that I haven't had to do anything to it. I see so many of my friends having this trouble or that trouble with their flagships, with the "latest & greatest" specs, that I just have to snicker that I spent 1/2 of what they did, and I get as much or more bang for the buck than they did.
4.3, on this device is so stable it begs the question for me and my use pattern. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Yes, at some point, there will be an app that I want to use, that will require LL, but, the 83 apps that I have on my device now, run perfectly. I even went so far, to install a few of the same apps on my device, as a coworker did on his Nexus 6, setting the screen brightness to the same levels, then, running the apps side by side. MAYBE there was a split second of difference in opening or running the apps, but, both were smooth, clear and easy to read. Yes, if you ran a benchmark, the N6 would blow the Mate2 out of the water, but, I'm talking about "real world" applications. Is that split second difference worth paying more than 2 times the price? Not for me.
Huawai, you hit one out of the park, and the LL update will be welcome, but, for now, I'm sticking with JB4.3, until the LL update proves to be as stable as JB4.3
You've been posting the same exact crap in all possible threads regarding the lollipop update for the HAM2. While everyone else has been pressuring Huawei to release this update, as is deserved and expected from such a major company, you just go on and on about how happy you are with the current build, and don't care about any future support. truly unbelievable , we are all excited discussing a future update here, you should really go and post in the Happy owners HAM2 Jellybean thread !!

Actually, we all know his stance regarding upgrading his phone. He has at least a post in every thread concerning the HAM2 update that anyone frequenting this board has involuntarily become aware of. I see no reason why he should be constantly reminding us of it except obviously intending to troll!

Consumer cellular is not going to be updated. You will have to flash yours to a non CC mate 2 if you want the update.

I called him out for being a shill in another thread. It drives me bananas because this phone is buggy as hell and he's always talking about how stable it is.

Correct, there are quite a few bugs I'm experiencing. Wi-fi not connecting except after 3-4 tries, a few random app crashes and a few but annoying random reboots. Even if it wasn't for these problems, who wouldn't want the latest and greatest Android version on their phones? It's common sense !

I put this list of bugs in an earlier thread (I apologize for repeating):
- Audio cutting out is a pretty common one. This occurred when I first got the phone, then again after a factory reset. Eventually it just stopped happening both times.
- Google Calendar reminder pops up, calendar crashes over and over again until I dismiss the reminder.
- Reboots randomly about once a week.
- Switching from portrait to landscape is slow and inconsistent at best.
- That looping reboot that occurred during a random Amazon update a few months back (that did not affect any other phone). I had to do a factory reset because of that which is a major pain.
- The bugs with Emo (strange text wrapping, delay when closing an app that's in a folder, improperly sized widgets), which is such a hot mess of an Android skin, makes it practically mandatory that you put a new launcher on it.
-Pulling down the notification bar has become an adventure. Sometimes it's fine, other times it comes down and stops halfway and I have to hit the home button an try again.
- Unless it's super bright out, really long shutter lag after the update.
I know the thread was started by a Huawei rep, so hopefully they're working on fixing these bugs along with the update.
Just curious, has anyone having bug issues installed TWRP recovery? I have my HAM2 for 3 months, I am rooted but stock recovery, and I haven't had a single issue with this phone. No lagging, no reboots, no wifi or bluetooth issues. I am wondering if there is something else causing the bugs. Or maybe there are a few bad devices. That being said, I always welcome updates, but I also understand peoples concerns with a new update.

Having the issues I have mentioned above, I am completely stock, never rooted or installed recovery. So phone is untouched. I didn't want to mess with it because I thought it may cause issues receiving future OTA updates

Yeah, the Amazon app problem was really a pain. I ended up uninstalling the app entirely, being fed up with the reboots it was causing. The only thing I have never tried with the phone is a factory reset, wonder if that may help in any way
