Hi All,
I've successfully rooted with the official SDE and this tut http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653566 .
I would like to try out the Angstrom dist. but can't seem to find a download anywhere and the online builder at http://narcissus.angstrom-distribution.org/ doesn't have the device.
is there anywhere I can get it or build it (keep in mind that I'm just a noob)?
Thanks,
karl
search for Archos Gen8 ?
Thanks, I found the g8 files on open aos dot org/wp-upload/gen8/2012-04-09/
But the cpio file is a gz file, but the official sde boot menu looks for a .lzo.
I think thats a difference between froyo and ics. I tried renaming as was suggested on another forum but it just booted to a black screen.
I be a bit more patient for now

Hi people !
As lot of clever people now try to pucsh Gen8 to ICS , i would like to know if someone kept the old Eclair firmware ?
It is not available anymore from Archos site and i would like to have, thanks SDE, on my 101 IT :
Stock Eclair
UrukDroid Froyo
OpenAOS Gingerbread
I love having the choice lol !
Thanks !
Lucky you, I still have it on my fileserver. I'm uploading right now... stay tuned :good:

Thanks a million chrulri ! and btw congrats for the work you provide to keep our device on track !
Unfortunatly no way to downgrade ... it works well with 2.x (Froyo) firmware but not 1.x . (error 221)
And i doubt someone will try to make it possible as the tendences is more on giva access of higher OSes ... not lower ones !
It doesn't even work after full reformat?
Nope ... full format, install angstrom and then finally try reformat and install eclair ... error 221
Well then it's kinda hopeless on the easy road.
But you still could go the hardcore road and extract the squashfs root filesystem, the kernel and the initramfs from the .aos file and use the SDE to install them if you really really want Eclair to run on your device :silly:
Beg you pardon ?
OK ... a quick look on google shows that even extracty an aos is complicated (both tools didnot extract the same thing)
I will first weight if i can give enough time to go the hard way for maybe a poor result and then try to not brick my device ...
Thanks again chrulri ! and keep going you do it the right way !
OK i got a cooked .tgz file that contained squasfs-root folder. ... now i guess the zImage file i need is the one in raw folder named init-zImage .... i don't know where i can find/build initramfs.
I'm a rookie so if someone could drive me a bit on how to build files to make it bootable with a multiboot (kboot seems to be the best option as it can use different iniramfs and Zimage for each Oses)
Hello. I want to create my own rom with help of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690
I got dsixda's kitchen working properly and system folder from non-branded samsung rom. But the problem is boot.img i spent over 3 hours at finding a way to pull it. I found only to install x64 ubuntu in virtual machine, compile kernel from samsung opensource files and then get boot.img from kernel. Could anybody get boot.img for i9070p or give me good advice how to do it easy way?
Hi all. I want to open this post for those who want to modify or make a wonderful ROM for this wonderfull Lenovo P780 phone. Let me be excused for my not so good English language.
Let's cut to the chase: I want to create or modify a ROM specifically composed of all archives in this picture.
As you can see there are more archives to modify ... lets say .. Of course all these shall be modified inside in linux or windows environement. I have them both.
The first archive boot.img. With what opens what shall be modified inside and with what tools?
EBR1 and EBR2 if tabs can someone post modified partitions from from 1 to 2 to 2.5 and to 3 GB. Or maybe post a tutorial better than those found here in the forum.
Logo.bin how to remove and add your own custom image inside.
Recovery.img how to add updated TWRP or CWM directly.
System.img how to edit this file without damaging something inside and not start the phone after flash.
What system.img is better odexed or deodexed img, and why?
I do not want a zip file to update from recovery, i vant this kind of rom witch can be flashed with FlashTools.
If you want to help us, all of you who are good at this things, we who dont know all of this things, thanks you very very much for teaching us.
Iff you like this post pushing Thanks button will be mutch appreciated .

Guide to Android ROM Development
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272270
I saw that post. Thank you. I already have Android Kitchen. As far as I'm concerned I'm looking to make a ROM like the one in picture, or change some things inside. I am looking how to unpack an image or bin, to delete or add applications, to change boot picture, or logos, to odex or deodex apps in system.img, to modify partitions, etc etc.
For repartition mod you can check my guide here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602089
It's for Oppo R819, same MediaTek 6589 chip like P780. I own both Oppo R819 and Lenovo P780.
My mod is derived from P780 - 4GB edition repartition mod by Xakep from lenovo-forums.ru. Xakep's mod only modified EBR1, my mod modified both EBR1 and EBR2.
In my guide above you could see how to edit EBR files, which segment to edit and how to change the partition size value and also a bit info on how to modify Aroma Installer used in CWM / TWRP.
Xakep's mod only works for 4 GB though, I guess because he only modified EBR1 and left EBR2 untouched.

Only use EBR1 and EBR2 from your official ROM, not from other phones even using similar chipset since partition layout could be different.
Try to find official P780 ROM in Flash Tool Format. It doesn't matter which ROM version -- S112, S116, or even S123 as long as it has EBR1 and EBR2. And don't mix 4GB with 8GB files.

OK. Ill try to edit my EBR files. I do not really know how to edit this file but I will try. If not too much trouble you can help me edit my two EBR1 and EBR2 file for partitions look like this? The first partition to be 3 GB and the second to be 500 MB.
The photo is from another phone. It is better to be bigger the partition where applications are installed..
Here are the EBR files extracted from P780_ROW_S123_131231 ROM

Well, you're using Lenovo P780 - 4 GB version right ? Then I see no reason to reinvent the wheel. Such repartition mod is exist already, Xakep already made it. Check this thread here :
[P780][4GB][Mod][Root]Repartition Storage
You can use HxD to edit EBR files (or any files)
Hi all. Here are my EBR files. Please tell me what is to be modified so i can have the partitioning like in that picture.
Hi,
Can i use some language pack from other P780 ROM and how to add it?
Thanks
I'm going to move this into the General sub-forum for now, but if you guys get somewhere with this and have something you want to release then let me know. It may require a new thread by that point, but either way we can cross that bridge when we come to it

Ok. We wil continue our work here.
PreRoot ROM
Hi all again.
First: I would like to preroot original Lenovo P780 ROM. I was looking on the forum and found nothing to show me step by step how to doit. Please can someone show me or us how to preroot original firmware, step by step, or what tools to use ?
Second: Who can show me how to change recovery.img to replace the original recovery. A tutorial would be great. Thank you. Thank you.
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is just a dumb noob question or not,
but if i unpack my boot.img file from my moto g, using android kitchen (cygwin) and if i repack it again, without modifying anything, the size of my kernel goes from 10MB to 6MB, and the created boot.img can't be used anymore.
Does anybody have an idea what i do wrong? I need this to port a kernel (replace bootclasspath)
Thank you in advance!
