I flashed uX on my locked tab and flashed the root file after. All worked fine tell I rebooted. I lost root and can't seem to get back in using the power and + VAL
Can I use adb on a locked bootloader?

try pressing power and left vol key, as the screen turns on release the power while still pressing the left vol key. Else boot into honeycomb, install rom manager and enter recovery from their, or enable debug mode and run adb command adb reboot recovery.
Don't have root so rom manager won't work. Will try the power and volume + like you stated. But I think adb us easier.
I'm at work and this has been bugging me all day.
Thank you for you help

well i guess i was doing the hold power and vol + wrong. Got it to work and adb also works too.
How do you cold reboot the phone directly into Clockwork recovery? IE not from selecting it from a running rom - like from a battery pull.
The EVO it was something like power and volume up if I remember right.
How do you do this?
Thanks

Volume-down and power button (simultaneously) till the screen says fastboot. Then press volume down button until you see Android Recovery. Finally press the volume-up button to select.
Remember:
Volume-down to choose
Volume-up to select
I always get confused a lot!!

hey guys.
i am currently on an old version of the virtuous s rom and have a problem now.
i installed the latest version of cwm via rom manager and when i try to reboot my device into recovery so i can install a new rom. it only boots up normally again.
pressing both volume rockers and power button at the same time does make the device vibrate but nothing else happens.
i would really appreciate some help at booting into recovery or finding out what the problem might be.
cheers.
meaning
Press only volume down and power, then when it says press vol up to go to rcs or what ever, then let go and press volume up

Alright, so I'm just trying to root the stock rom of Gingerbread 2.3.5 on this phone,
I read the howto's and one of my biggest questions is - am I going to have to use Odin each time I want to enter cwm? because at this point the only way I can enter Cwm recovery is through flashing the cwm_recovery_all.tar through Odin but it only works once or twice.
The normal way from the phone powered off is to (use the three finger method) :: hold volume up and down an the power button,,, and keep holding till there Samsung comes up then flashes black screen,,, then release power button while continuing to hold volume up and down till it enters recovery mode
...
Though most all custom ROMs have the option when powering off the phone with a long press,, "reboot" : and chose "recovery"
.

Yes that's the exact guide, I'm using a Win XP VM and using the ODIN 1.84 - and I have everything installed, the custom recovery just doesn't like to stay on..
. Unplug your phone and click RESET in Odin. Repeat Step 5 to get the phone back into download mode and recognized by Odin. Using the PDA button, navigate to the "stock_kernel.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier, select it, and press START. You'll again be notified in Odin once this process has completed (succeeded 1 / failed 0).
9. Unplug your phone and re-insert the battery.
10. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons. While holding them, press the power button. Hold all three simultaneously until you see "SAMSUNG" appear TWICE. This will boot your phone into CWM 2.5 red recovery. If your phone boots up normally here and not into recovery, just wait for it to boot up and then power it down and try again. It may take a couple tries for you to get it right.
11. Using the volume rocker, navigate down to "Install zip from sdcard." Highlight it and press the power button to select.
12. Navigate to "choose zip from sdcard" and select with the power button.
13. Navigate to the "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file that you downloaded earlier and select it. Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select.
14. When you're advised of completion, press the MENU softkey to go back to the previous CWM Recovery screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."

I did this, and made sure it installed, I have superuser installed and working and I can reset it to where the Samsung will appear twice, but when I do it, and it appears twice, it never goes into CWM recovery.. always stock...
You need a custom kernel for cwm to stick. You should be able to boot into cwm after the initial flash (Odin with battery out then 3 finger to boot), but it won't stick without a custom kernel.

well, i was able to get it into recovery mode by holding volume down and power then removing my finger from the power key then holding it down again when the lg screen came up. but i'm an idiot. i decided to factory wipe it to start over, by mistake checked off internal data. so now there is nothing on my sd card. i dont have my back up rom or anything. is there a way to push cynaogenmod from my computer to the phone or did i just brick my phone?
Should be able to mount the SD in recovery then add a factory ROM from there.
