[Q] Flashing between custom ICS Roms - HTC Amaze 4G

I flashed the leaked ICS RUU, and I'm S-Off. I'm now running Energy's 2.1 ICS ROM, and I want to try different ICS ROMs. If I were to flash the Android Revolution ICS ROM, would I need to go back to stock ICS?
I know if I want to flash Energy's 2.2 ROM, I'd just flash it over my current 2.1 ROM.

I think you just need to flash super wipe script then flash the android ROM.

Oh okay, cool. Also, do I absolutely NEED 4EXT to flash this, or is Xboarder's 5.5.0.4 recovery okay?

4ext is needed, dont use CWM
or at least highly recommended

you need 4ext to flash mikes rom but xboarders recovery worked fine for energy and speedrun for me.

CWM CAN NOT FLASH KERNEL IN RECOVERY.
4ext takes care of it. You don't HAVE to buy the app. 4ext also has wipe menu with format all partitions (except sd card) option which works the same as superwipe.
Rule of thumb, its always best to backup and wipe whenever you switch between ROMs for a clean install (unless u are flashing an update of your existing ROM). It doesn't take more than 6 minutes to backup and wipe. It's always worth it and you can always advance restore /data from a backup if needed

[Q] how to fix wifi on evo 3d hboot 1.40

can any one help how can i fix wifi error on eve 3d coma
wifi issues are a boot image thing. [hint: flash a kernel]
Try flashing a different rom or use your Nano if you have one backed up.
what kernel will i flash?
Well what ROM are you using and what Android version do you have?
android 2.3.3, htc kernel i have just rooted my phone
You can try flashing the Stock kernel here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197898
If that doesn't work you can try flashing Synergy which is 2.3.4 here (this comes with a 2.3.4 kernel and the latest build of android):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193948
If your flashing synergy then make sure you factory reset and wipe the Cache Partiton and Dalvik Cache in recovery.
Same with the stock kernel, except you dont need to factory reset for kernels.
thanks for the link i will try it today

[solved]Flashing an ICS rom??!?

Someone please help!!?! I cannot for the life of me flash a ICS rom. I have tried various methods but all to no avail. I have an Evo that I bought some time ago, rooted some time ago using HTC's bootloader unlock and then used adb to flash recovery and su to the phone to gain root. I have flashed many if not all sense roms no problem but now that I am wanting to flash an ICS rom It just won't let me. No matter the recovery I use after flashing an ICS rom it stays stuck on the first splash screen and will not load custom ICS rom. I have wiped all caches did factory resets and whatnot but still have not been able to flash an ICS rom
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Have you tried 4ext with smartflash?
ics
Hello are you using a super wipe tool after wiping cache and dalvik battery stsats then format system and format data and format boot and format all partitions except sd card and when this is done now use the super wipe tool and when its done it will reboot back in recovery and now you can flash any ics rom these are the steps i use with no problem's and yes 4ext is highly recomended
You're S-ON, you need to either use 4ext w smartflash or Joey Krim's Flash Image GUI in order to flash a kernel for ICS.
S-ON does not allow for flashing kernels except in fastboot mode, with 4ext/smartflash which was introduced 2 days ago evidently, or Flash Image GUI.
Easy fix
Thanks everyone. I finally got it to work using 4ext. I was so dead set on keeping twrp that I forgot to look for other recoveries.

[Q] [Help] I cannot cange ROM from CM7.1, I need help!!

I was trying to flash the BAMF SoaB Sense 3.5 Rom and it kept rebooting randomly, even without making any personal changes (apps+data). I cleaned up my SD card and tried to flash the Infected Eternity Sence3.5 ROM, and I get an installation error (Status 7). This happens when ever I try to flash a new ROM, but the CM7.1 back ups that I made through ROM Manager, reload just fine.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Make sure you're using the latest version of CWM - 5.0.2.1, for the non-touch version, available here: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager.
Older versions of CWM, well, don't work for "newer" ROMs.
Oh, and when flashing from AOSP <-> Sense, make sure you wipe everything (Cache, Dalvik, Data, and System).
You can flash the latest CWM from the BootLoader also:

okay, I'll give this a shot and make sure everything is updated. Thanks!!
You could also try 4ext recovery. It has an option to wipe all except SD card which makes flashing easier.

need help please

I've decide to format my SD and install clean rom without any files at SD.
I've flashed the radio, wiped all what I need delvik, chance and data. I've flashed the rom and....nothing! Its stock at the logo of the rom (virtuous eclipse 1.0.0) in my case and nothing happened...
I removed the battery and contacted the SD to the computer and I found out that no file have been created and the SD is empty except the zip rom on it.
Did anyone can tell me what is the problem?
I have rooted evo 3d with unlock bootloader I use 4ext as recovery, my hboot is 1.49.1107 and my radio is 11.25.3504.06_m.
Something very important I had this rom and its works fine, I've done backup and when I'm restore it lots of apps don't work like 4ext when I want to get into recovery its stock and I have to get out the battery....
thank u all
Try restoring your backup and once your booted into your rom go to settings/sd & phone storage and format your sd. Then replace the rim you were about to flash back on your sd. Then reflash the rom.

Are you S-OFF or S-on? In 4ext recovery have you turned on the SmartFlash feature?
Try flashing boot.img seperately using fastboot.
i'm s off
i will turn on the smart flash at 4ext and flsh boot via fastboot and i hope its wil help
After doing all u suggested still nothing work, its stock on virtuous logo for almost 25 minutes :-( something avoiding me to install rom that came lately but the strange thing is that the first ics rom with sense 4 like will's rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627596 I can install
And just now I've notice that my hboot is 1.49.0007 and not 1.49.1109 as I wrote before

when flashing other ROMs, use a superwipe script or wipe everything manually (data, cache, system etc )......Some Roms wont boot if you havent wiped system.....
Some Roms include a wipe script.

I formatted my SD because I wanna clean SD. I've made vipe delvik and chace trough cwm turn off my evo, removed the SD (I had a 4ext partition on him so I delete her with Gparted )and then formatted my SD. I copy virtuous eclipse rom to the SD and try to flash it and its got stack at the blink logo for half an hour
I removed my battery go to bootloader and flash 4ext recovery, made super wipe and trying again to flash the rom - I got the same result.
I tried to flash the boot from the zip file trough the bootloader and flash the rom again and again the same result.
I decided to try working roms for sure like leedroid's rom, I flashed him and its worked!
I want an ics rom with sense 4 so I tried to flash will1972's rom, its the first ics rom that someone published and get lots of bugs, I manage to flash him and its worked!
I try again to flash again the virtuous rom and got the same result, get stack at the blink logo...
I've done backup of the rom when its work (virtuous) and now when I'm restore it lots of thing doesn't work properly , like 4ext, like restart....
I think that something is avoiding the command to get the hardware and do what she had to do...

Need urgent help! Please!

I have a rooted s-on Evo 3D and Im trying to put my moms number on it since I got a new phone, but I keep getting an error I'm running a custom rom and I'm pretty sure you need to be on the stock rom so you could actually change numbers, I need to go back to to the stock rom, I have it backed up but I'm on a different kernel and since I can't just restore it I need to flash the kernel first of my back up, ive been using flash image GUI for flashing my roms but I don't know how to restore the back up I have of the stock rom, if I just restore it won't flash the kernel. Someone please help me. I can can fastboot I think, restore The backup. Does anyone have the link for the intructions? I can't find the thread that they made. Thanks.
What rom are you on? when you flashed it did you clear dalvik cache first?
Also you can try and go into custom recovery and clear you dalvik cache and see if that works!
Sometime (in my experience anyways) I have had to re-flash the rom because it was messing up after instal ie. FC on all apps but a fresh install worked like a charm.
