ok whats the deal here? Here's what happened: I first installed leedroid last night, decided it wasn't for me, so I decided ok I'll go to CM7. without thinking about it I just installed CM7 straight from my SD card, and just got a straight white screen. I looked at the thread and found out I needed to install HBOOT for gingerbread. So I just ran the RUU To take it back to gingerbread, and it ran and installed fine. Then it rebooted, and well its still on the white screen. What am I missing here?
and look at that, I got into fastboot mode, and it still says "Revolutionary" at the top... but the recovery is gone. It seems the RUU doesn't mess with HBoot. I can probably figure this one out on my own, probably should just look into things more than post.
So how do I obtain a gingerbread HBOOT?
ok I'm unbricked now, and back on honeycomb, just ran the RUU again from globaltron, now if I can just figure out how to downgrade with revolutionary installed, think I found just the thread to do that.... you know what never mind, I'm quitting while I"m ahead. I'm just going to stick with honeycomb roms till ICS roms start showing up, which I imagine will most likely use the same HBOOT. I just don't wanna risk bricking, not at all.
Replied to you on cm thread as well but third post in the same thread that you used to gain s off hc has the correct way to downgrade
Mccord you've been very helpful. I'm normally not this bad just rusty and this is all new to me.

I've had my thunderbolt happily running BAMF Remix 1.6.3 and Inoseyon's Kernel for about 2 weeks now. I bought an aftermarket battery off Ebay today and charged it up, then took the battery out of my old phone and put in the new aftermarket one. Tried to boot up, and am bootlooping at the white HTC splash screen.
Thinking the battery was junk, I put back in my old battey and tried to boot, same issue now, bootlooping. I can get into HBOOT but not recovery.
I'm not even sure what the solution is for a bricked phone in this condition (I'm assuming follow the "restore to stock" instructions in the development area) but I'm wondering if Froyo bricking is something anyone even reported.
I'm kind of in a time crunch so if anyone needs me to do something prior to re-flashing please let me know!
Okay, well I've been trying to research this (there REALLY needs to be a well-updated, concise Bricked Phone FAQ or something) and it does seem like I'm legimately bricked.
Phone goes to white HTC screen, then to black (shuts off it seems) then back to white HTC screen. Does this constantly. I can get into HBOOT but if I try to go into recovery, I'm back to the white screen bootlooping.
I tried factory reset, same deal, just went straight to white screen. I have no way of knowing if downgrading to the stock RUU would help without actually DOING it, which from what I understand would not be helpful to you folks.
Per HBOOT I still have S-OFF, and I'm more than happy to try to give you folks the info you need, but I have no idea how to get ADB to talk to me phone when it's not even able to turn on. I would need someone to give me reasonably simple instructions for how to do this.
Also, I can't wait forever on this, I'd post it in the actual development area but XDA feels I am not worthy of posting in there due to my noob status. If someone needs me to run some tests on the phone before flashing the stock .zips in HBOOT I need to hear back on this soon.
If hboot is stable and not looping, you should be able to flash the stock ruu, then unroot again. Gb loops happen in hboot too that's more serious

You can return to stock via the instructions in that thread if you like. But if you don't want to have to root again and you aren't bootlooping in hboot, you can flash the rooted MR1 RUU in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082114 . This will take you back to rooted MR1 update. Just download, verify md5, rename PG05IMG.zip, put on root of sd, boot into bootloader and let it flash.
Excellent, thanks for the info. I hadn't realized the legit bricking issue caused hboot to be unstable as well. I'm almost sorry it's not the real deal, I was hoping to get you guys the emcc data ya'll were looking for.
Hey everyone, pretty new to the forums. I have been tinkering with trying to root my new rogers evo 3d i got a few days ago. I ran into some issues, and thought i had soft bricked my phone, it seemed to the point of no return, so just wanted to share what i did to make it work. Ive read a few posts were others had a similar issue and didnt seem to be resolved. I used the Revoluntionary Method, at 1st i was having trouble with the HTC drivers, the program no matter how many i tried would crash on install. So i just skipped all the stpes and just ran the Revoluntinoary Program, it actualy did everything, including install the HTC drivers all automated, worked awesome. Then not realising that i couldnt do most roms on a rogers gsm phone, i tried and failed with many roms. The one and only rom that i was able to install, was leedroid. This rom worked perfect everytime......but only on the 1st boot, if i tried to restartt the phone it would hang on the HTC logo. At this point i just wanted to revert back to rogers stock rom......but of course i didnt back anything up! I downloaded the rogers Ruu listed on here, and figured hey this will do the trick. After runiing the rogers Ruu and failing many times, i was frustated. Not only did it fail the flash, but it also locked my boot and left me S Off. Now every time i tried to start my phone, i would get the HTC logo screen with the !!!! in each corner, unplugging the usb gave me the locked hboot screen, and of course the Ruu kept failing. From everthing i read in the forums, it seemed toast. Since the RUU kept failing on the extract part it seemed, i thought maybe try to free up some space on the sd card......then i decided to just do a quick format on the card(Used card reader). For whatever reason, after formatting my sd card and rebooting the phone....it just started right up in stock rom, like the day i got it. Didnt even have to try the Ruu again, it just worked. Sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to give a brief history on everything i had done. Hopfully this helps someone out there that was stuck at the same location i was.
I think your in the wrong section bud. But good to know.

My Phones a Rogers Evo 3D GSM, HBoot 1.48.0008. Yup it was SOFF.
I used the Revo method to get Unlocked, SOFF and CWM.
I started out with CDMA roms, not knowing any better, and got my phone stuck in a boot loop.
The only way for me to stop the bootloop was with LeeDroids rom found here on XDA, so maybe try downloading that and flashing it. I downloaded every GSM Rom listed, but only Leedroid for me would do anything. The rest just hung up on the HTC logo.
Then I realised that Leedroids rom was also hanging on the HTC logo after Initial boot so i wanted to just get back to stock. I downloaded the listed Rogers Ruu also from XDA. Flashed into Leedroids rom on initial boot, ran the Rogers Ruu......only to have it fail on the update.....did a few cycles of the built in recovery option in the Ruu to no avail. I would always end up and the screen with around 11 checks all ok, but under system in would be failed. There was some message about and extraction error, and this Ruu wasnt compatible with my phone do download and try a new one.
Now my phone was stuck at the HTC logo screen with the 4 !!!! in the corners, unplugging the usb brought up the Hboot screen, which now said ****Locked**** and SOFF still.
I did a few more trys at the RUU, after redownloading multiple copys from different sources, same results, even tried to get the revo tool to pick up my phone during one of the flashes but it couldnt detect it.
At this point i called rogers.....asked about getting a replacment they said come in but i knew once they saw SOFF they wouldnt go for it.
The extraction failing on the RUU was what got me thinking that maybe by some chance there wasnt enough room on the SD card to complete the update? Which didnt make sense cause i had over 2g free space. Just for the hell of it, i popped out the SD, put it in my laptop, did a basic quick reformat of it.....then put in back in my phone.
The plan was to try the Ruu one last time but as soon as i hit the power button my phone started with a normal HTC logo, with no !!!!....followed by the rogers splash screen and right into the set up of the phone. Everything was back like the very 1st day i had it, even had the spiderman game. Not sure exactly why it worked, but maybe if you try something similar you can get yours back as well, hope this helps a bit.

thanks for your info... maybe i'll try todo same your experience... i'll tell you later, if it's work or not!!! cheers!
I bought the Flyer a while ago and it came with HC installed. Now that it seems that ICS might be an option for it here on xda I figured I'd start looking into what I need to do in order to flash in a new rom.
I've done a bit of reading but it feels like I have missed something fundamental somewhere. So... this is what I have done:
As far as I have understood it is not possible to get s-off while on HC so I just went ahead and successfully unlocked the boot loader through HTCdev.
Now it is my understanding that I should be able to flash in clockworkmod recovery eventhough I am not s-off'ed, right? I downloaded cwm-4.0.1.4-flyer.img from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680 and flashed it through fastboot. According to the output everything went well and I got two "OK" from the command line.
Now, when trying to get into recovery I just get to the green HTC logo with white background and the FLyer doesn't move anywhere. What have I missed/done wrong to not get into the clockworkmod recovery?
I should probably end with saying that the Flyer still boots into Android without any issues so I haven't totally bricked it... yet
You are trying gb recovery on hc. Look for thread in development from Paul obrien about leaked hc. Has right cmw

Ha! That did the trick.
I am now backed up, rooted and prepared
Many thanks!
I went to the Stock ICS ROM, but the radio performance was too bad for me, so after trying to deal with it, but unable to, I am trying to go back to Stock Gingerbread.
I am S-on, unlocked bootloader, and rooted. I have downloaded stock RUU, PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip, and was getting 'main version older' error. I fixed that manually, All in one .bat did not work. Now I get hboot Version is older. What do I do now? I had to lock the bootloader, so the PH85IMG file would be recognized.
Just trying to get back to stock, then maybe I will try a GB custom ROM, Energy or something.
Wow, no help at all. I guess this Amaze forum has gone down.
I was able to get back to a stock rom, but just the rom went back to stock. I still can't get a RUU to load, which is what I need because I want the GB stock radio back.
So frustrating. I'm ready to let the Amaze go, and maybe Android all together.
There is a new leak out with some minor updates from the first leak.
But I don't think you can downgrade your radio.img without s-off.
Don't quote me on this...
Yeah, the radio is the same in the new update.
I think I'm done with The Amaze, and probably HTC for a while. I don't know what to replace it with though, maybe a Galaxy SII or Galaxy Nexus. I don't know...
you definitely have to s-off first i believe to go back to GB. i heard the HTC one s/x is really good. co worker has one and im jealous. but if sense 4.0 comes for the amaze then dont need to get the one s. lol but yea......i believe you have to be s-off first before going to GB
I think you'll need to get s-off to flash the radio. If you don't want to keep s-off, you can definitely go back to s-on after flashing. There should be a simple command to re-s-on your device floating around somewhere in these forums.
I tried to s-off before, but couldn't get it. I spent hours, but had no success.
Yeah the only way to get back to gingerbread after going to ICS is to s-off you can't flash the gingerbread RUU if s-on it gives a older software error

Hi everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with getting my E3D S-off with the wire trick. Even though I've been a member on this site for a couple years, I never really did much on here because I haven't done much with my phone until now. So, I'm hoping that being a newbie, someone can help me...
Long story short, I've been waiting patiently until the official ICS update from Sprint to be able to root my phone and finally install a custom ROM without all the Sprint bloatware and finally have a clean, stock ICS ROM on my phone. For the past two days I've been trying to do the wire trick by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813818
It's just that my phone will NOT let me do it! I've successfully unlocked the bootloader on hboot 1.58 and rooted the phone with superuser. When I go to do the wire trick, after running JuopunutBear's Wire Trick, all I get is to the point where it says "Seconday Backup FAILED at Beginning!!" and just exits the program.
I've literally done everything. I read that it's caused by a custom ROM or having HTC Sync installed on my PC. The ROM I have is the stock Sprint ICS 4.0 ROM that was installed by the RUU. I've wiped my SD card and even used two other cards, and it STILL won't work. I have no idea what to do anymore. After two days of having a blank phone, I've just about given up. I know there's gotta be a way to do it, but I just can't figure it out. I can't find anything regarding this problem from anyone else on this site or anywhere on Google. People say they had the problem and it fixed itself, but I can't get past it. Can someone please help? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should try flashing a stock GINGERBREAD ROM. The thing with JuopunutBear is that you need crucial files from GB. Unless they updated it, I may be wrong.
Instead of flashing an RUU, look for a full stock ROM for your phone.
Then it should work perfectly.
I did it on my GSM EVO 3D, but there was a better guide on here for it, however, it's gone now.
I wish you luck, comment back if it doesn't work.
I actually restored the original RUU which didn't work, and then flashed the PG86IMG.zip file for the ICS ROM and that didn't work either. I've gone through all the steps of unlocking and rooting multiple times, and it still gives me that backup message. I have no idea what else to do.
Also, the phone is new - Sprint replaced it under warranty for me because the bezel of my old one was coming loose which they said is a common problem, so they swapped it out with a fresh one for me. The only thing I can think of is maybe that daemon message I get when I start the fastboot? It says something like "Daemon not started. Starting on port 5037." Does the port have anything to do with it?
I'm gonna try flashing a stock Gingerbread ROM now. I'm downloading the 2.17.651.5 release - I think that's the official Gingerbread update from Sprint. I'll post back soon - thanks for your help.

Make sure you watch the screen on the phone until the prompts for superuser have appeared and been approved. Also, have you read through the JuopunutBear thread in the stickies of the development forum? There's a lot of information in there and a link to a good video by zedomax, and if that isn't enough to get you through it you can get some live help by logging into the IRC channel from the support page on the unlimited.io website.

I appreciate the help so far. I tried returning to a stock Gingerbread ROM to do the S-off trick since they thought maybe it had something to do with files from Gingerbread that weren't in the ICS ROM, but the phone won't let me do it. Running the official RUU fails and says it can't update the software, and trying to flash the PG86IMG.zip from the bootloader just ignores it - I boot the phone, it spends five minutes loading and checking, then just goes back to the menu. I read you can't flash an older firmware update over a newer one unless you have S-off, but since that's what I'm trying to get at, that obviously won't work.
So, I gave up and flashed the official RUU for ICS and it flashed fine and put me back at the stock Sprint software. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and tried the S-off again, and got the same problem. I'm giving up on it for the night but I'll research the stickies tomorrow at work and see what I can find and if anyone else might have had this problem. I don't feel like accepting the fact that there's no way to get S-off on this phone. Seems everyone else had no problems.
Thanks again for all your help so far!

JuopunutBear will work fine with the Sprint ICS 2.89 build installed, but make sure you use the version designed for that build.
Good luck!

Okay cool, just let me know. Thanks.
So I figured I would update on this but I'm sure no one really cares.
I FINALLY got S-off using the wire trick by installing a quick custom ROM and trying the process again. For some reason the guide I used said to use the stock untouched ROM but it didn't work for me, even though everyone else seems to have had luck.
So, after flashing a ROM quick through ext4 worked for me, and I flashed CoolROM with Sense 4.1. Looks good, but there's no 4G. I get full 4G coverage where I live, so I'm gonna kind of miss that. I was originally looking for a clean stock ICS ROM without Sense, but when I said this with Sense 4.1 I figured I'd give it a shot. Does anyone know of a stable ROM with working 4G and everything else? The whole reason I decided to root and get S-off was to finally remove all the Sprint bloatware, so I want a clean ROM. If anyone knows of a good ROM, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!
