so, mods, if this isn't a good place for the thread, feel free to lock it or whatever..i had no idea where else to post it..
but basically, this month at work we had a contest. if we sold 5 fios triple plays, whoever won, would win a samsung galaxy tab 10.1. it's a sick tab, with a nice portfolio case. (BTW, it doesn't have to be a triple play. if you're interested in ANYTHING, let me know, because the more signups the better, especially in verizon's eyes for our store!
there's only a few days left in the month, and i'm only at 2.5 sold, because it's hard to sell every customer on fios.
basically, i'm asking that if anyone here is seriously interested, to let me know..i can look up your address and check if you have fios available, and if you're interested, i can sign you up.
if you sign up, the the higher TRIPLE PLAY packages will get you a $500 visa gift card, and the lower ones will give you $250....so, verizon is GIVING you money just to sign up, which is sick.
if anyone wants details, or a quote, or interested in signing up, please either respond here, or throw me a PM. i'd love to win this tab, and there's only a few days left! thanks guys!
I would, but theres no landline internet out here...just satelite, mobile, or the dreaded....dial up! "Shivers"
I just signed up for internet only. It would have to be a Triple Play to qualify for you?
nah, not just a triple play...i got the 0.5 one because it was phone and internet lol..if it's internet/tv, it counts as a triple play for my contest..if it's phone/internet, it's 0.5..and internet would probably be 0.5 too lol
did you get it yet, cares? cancel it, and let me sign ya up haha (i've had people do that before lol)

ugh, dialup! i'm so sorry. haha
Already got Directv, don't need a home line as using google voice +pbxes and have at&t. If you can get me fios, then I will sign up.

But if you convince them to drag it aaaaaall the way out here in the middle of nowhere, ill sign up right away lol i use 20+ gigs a month on my phone cuz i cant get decent internet out here lol
Any chance it's available in Cary, North Carolina??
I'm so sick of time warner cable and att uverse.
FIOS is a hard sell around here.... Cox Cable is hard to beat. I used to have residential but now have a business account (needed for home office) and just run the residential side out of one of the IP from that.
Best phone co could do is 9600baud dialup (Seriously!).... and I am in metro Phoenix area.

Like I said, phone co can only get 9600 baud dialup at the house here which is weird because I am in the middle of the city.... max dist from two closest points of access... or something like that. Quest -> Century Link or whatever they are called now days has basically been non-competitive. Once they lost the monopoly... people just plain left. Their commercials are a bit of a joke.
I pay less than $180 for 50mb/10mb business connection (no blocked ports and better SLA than Residential service) and a block of 16 IP's. No bandwidth limitations, all I can eat. Oh that includes two land phone lines, one for the office and one for the house though I am going to drop the house one soon.
Use Cox Residential for cable (house pays for that, not business) so that is separate.
that sounds like a damn fine deal!
i'll sign up if you can beat what i'm currently paying for cable, internet, and phone.
of course, that means you'd literally have to pay me.
i'll pay you in a galaxy tab! wait no, then there would be no point in me even playing in this contest lol
no

I think they could do a little better then 9600kps over fiber. Can you even get FIOS at your location or are you referring to service over the existing copper lines?
Good deal on the business connection, I've thought about doing the same with Comcast to get rid of their stupid monthly cap...

yeah, I've thought of getting a business acct just to have a static ip, but does that require a tax id?

Welcome to the club. I'm in Raleigh, and I am sick of getting 15mbps at 5:00 AM and 1.5-2 mbps at 5 in the evening. You never know what speed you are going to get.
you guys in NC, fi you wanna PM me an address of yours , or around you, i can check. i haven't checked NC yet, but a lot of other people sent me PM's, and unfortunately verizon hasn't rolled it out to their areas yet

To the folks who are claming that Sprint is throttling them due to there net speeds sucking or download speeds suck. They don't throttle. Prl update won't fix it. If your losing connection all the time dropped calls and your location has good signal normally and net speeds.
Then you probably have a bad radio hardware issue with the phone. This goes to rooted users too if you flashed your kernel right and rom.
A bad radio will cause all sorts of issues slow speed no connection lost calls. No matter what prl you use or network edit you try will not fix it.
Have Sprint take a look at it they will tell you if your radio is spanked. My first evo 3d had a spanked radio brand new outta the box a few other folks same thing. Anyways those that have issues may wanna get it looked into.
Will I need the sprint insurance for them to look at it and fix it? Of can they look at it let me know and then ship it off to my 3rd party insurance?

My E3D has been fine with 3G data - it depends where you're at... I live in a state capitol, and we still don't have 4G. My gripe is with my Wi-Fi - cable broadband SUCKS. They can throw nifty catchwords like PowerBoost at us, but one thing is clear: cable broadband systems for homeowners in municipalities are still 'node' based - when everyone in the same neighborhood is streaming video or surfing, the bandwidth drops. I can't wait for a good 4G WiMax connection, or a VPN...

I think what he is referring to is the fact that in your original post you said it could be a hardware issue, which means that if its a hardware issue then the same will occur when on verizons network while roaming. The other poster is getting great performance with verizon so therefore it has to mean that sprints network is ****. And to be quite frank, sprints network is garbage right now and that ain't no secret.

Uh, well as a 14 year old there are a lot of things you simply just don't understand, hence your clueless post(no offense). If you buy a new car and it breaks down, should I not ***** about it because we never always used to have cars? If I am at the airport and my flight is delayed should I not ***** about it because air travel wasn't always around? If my gps unit stops working should I not get upset because not too long ago we were all using maps? I hope you get my point, this isn't about taking anything for granted. As technology becomes more advance the more we depend on them to get through each and everyday. Also, in my examples these are all things that we pay hard earned money for, so if your a paying customer then you expect some sort of working service in return.
Who is paying the cell phone bill in your house? Obviously it isn't you so what do you care if something goes out, it aint your money and its not like you can go and walk into an att/tmobile/verizon store and get service. You are stuck with whatever your parents decide to get, and thats it. On the other hand I bet if one of your parents gets upset because of crappy service, they aren't gonna say well cell phones haven't been around that long so its ok. No, they will find another carrier to go and spend more money in the process for better service. Thats not taking something from granted, thats just wanting something to work as it should.
I have been with sprint for over 10 years(you know, since you were 4 years of age) and for the first 8.5 years service has been exceptional but the last 1.5 years has been horrible and it seems like its getting worse and worse everyday. I travel quite a bit for my job so whether I am at home in atlanta or any major city from atlanta to new york city its the same crappy service. In the day time 3g is laughable at best and it only seems to work fairly well from 2am to 4am when the network isn't as cluttered. How can I do my job effectively and efficiently if the technology I am paying for takes a step back? If I have to send/receive important emails or any other form of communication and I am late because of the slow network then that could cost me a lot of time and a lot of money.

That may be true for a very small fraction of customers but its not a secret that sprints network is in the toilet right now, thats not my opinion thats a fact. Hopefully when all this network vision stuff is completed with sprint then their service will improve but if not sprint will continue to bleed customers more then ever before. Its getting to a point now that the extra savings compared to the other carriers isn't even worth it anymore.

Well down south the speeds are fine. My first Evo 3d phone had some crappy data and signal was wiggin out seemed fine in other areas then would drop to nothing. Had it swapped out and everything runs fine no issues. I have been all the way to Michigan and to Flordia with no issues. So I have no idea why you folks complain about your data speeds. I know at times towers can get slammed but I doubt it would happen all the time. I would for the sake of things get sprint to check your phone out can't hurt.

I remember an old, old hack for a Phillips Savvy that with a bit of solder you could hack it to each reboot be reloaded with £10 credit... I wonder if anyone is still using those phones - I think I have one in my loft somewhere with a bunch of other phones.
but no - I agree doesn't sound legal at all.

lol, I think you could say a phone with a blacklisted ESN is hacked to never receive a bill.
I used to live at an apartment where for some reason the cable company used to never charge me for paid on demand movies/events.
Suckers.
Maybe he would take your address and email address from your evo 3d and use that information to steal your mail to make sure that you never recieve a bill again.
lol some good responses. I was in a rush to get to work when I got the text messages so when things calmed down it hit me - a contract is a contract you will always have a bill until it ends/cancels.

This reminds me. When I first got Sprint it was with a SERO account. I ordered a phone (Mogul) and they accidently sent me 2 but only charged me for one. I called Sprint and they had no idea what was going on but told me to send one back. So I sent one back. The next month I realized they put a $200 credit on my account. I called them back and told them what happened and even explained my theory about them refunding me for the phone I returned. The CSR assured me they would fix it. They never did. SERO was about $30/month so I ended up with like half a yr of free services. I'm still with Sprint and SERO.

Ok here are to more stories...
I before I lived in the apartment where comcast didn't charge me for paid on demand, I lived at another apartment and came home to a letter from comcast explaining up to that day I was receiving service by mistake so they disconnected it. I was living there for like a year and a half. I was the sucker that time.
Another time I got fired from Wells Fargo so the manager made a credit(bank lingo) and paid for the hours of that pay period. About a week later, I get a direct deposit for the same amount from them. Then I closed my account. Suckers.
According to T-Mobile's website, their new 4G Unlimited plan has no slow downs if you go over a set amount. So I wonder, why does MyT-Mobile page show that I have Up to 9765.6 GB of full speed data? I mean, I doubt I'll ever use nearly 10 thousand GB's of full speed data but who knows.
I saw that as well, I guess the system maybe requires some kind of integer to work with. But let's be honest who can possible use an average of 325GB per day in a 30 day time frame? Doubt our devices can dl that much per day to begin with.
I realize it's darn near impossible to do but it sure will be fun trying. I've been skyping and strictly using my S3 as my data connection for my laptop too, dl dumb files for no reason at all, barely capped 4GB tops in one day but I'm still pushing to see how far I can get, life is screwing it over though, lol.
Yup, its almost impossible to use all 10TB of data...unless you're downloading torrents all day, or running a high traffic server lol
Well I didn't want to start a new thread so I figured I could ask here.
I called t-mobile to switch to the new Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan, currently on the Unlimited - Premium 5GB plan, and I was told I would have to switch my rate plan. I am currently on Preferred FT 1500 NW and the retention department allowed me to keep myFaves with this plan, a while back. Now the rep told me that I would have to switch to one of the current Classic plans in order to even add the Unlimited Data plan. If that is the case my cost will go up around 100-120 a month in order to compensate for the minutes the myFaves is saving, just to switch to the truly Unlimited Data plan.
Does what this rep told me sound right? Does anyone still have an older plan still and switched to the new Unlimited Plan? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Actually, mathematically you should never be able to reach it. If you average 12 Mbps down, that translates to 1.5 MB per second X that by 2,592,000 seconds in a 30 day period its under 4000 GB per month. Even if you doubled that speed and were consistently using the web it would be under 8 TB of usage. Sorry, I was bored and math is my thing lol.
It probably would be wiser to switch to unlimited everything. Talk, Text and Data. $100 a month is really steep. I'm gonna go to Tmo today and see if I can make my account better. Currently I'm only paying $145 for 3 lines. My 3rd line is free till Jan 2014 because of the back to school promotion. But its only 500 talk and unlimited text. My 8yr old doesn't need data. She can connect to WiFi when shes at home.
Good job on the math. Lol

Not sure about the data plan since from what I read that the classic or family plans are required or something of the sort, I'll look for a source in a bit.
Lol at the math, did most of that too, nicely put together though.

9 Terrabytes is more data than your phone could pull down if left downloading 24/7 for a month...
It's a 'limit' in the same sense that a sign stating 'Speed Limit: Speed of Light' on the freeway would be... Yeah, it's a 'limit' number, but it's physically impossible (in the most literal sense) to get there...
So essentially it is unlimited

Lol, when I saw this on my bill, at first i thought it was 9.XXX GB and I was ready to flip my ****. I didn't realize until googling it and reading this post that it's actually 9,XXX.XX GB... I have never used that much data in my life.... even on Comcast business. I think we're good here.
Unlimited data interrupted by RST packets about once an hour?
Does anyone else here have their data stream interrupted regularly like clockwork getting a browser message back "The connection to the server was reset...?" It happens twice an hour, on the button for me. I heard that Tmo interrupts heavy users, but if it doesn't happen to any of you, it's got to be just me. The packets don't interrupt bitcomet, and I think they don't interrupt https, but DO interrupt http. It doesn't happen when I'm using SSH with a proxy, but that is slow, as it's a $1 proxy. Well..., anyone got an idea?
Incidentally, Tmo had a great discount for a small business plan going, it was $39 for 1000 anytime mins, unlimited txt/mms, and 5gb data (or it was 2gb and they grandfathered me 5gb). At the time it was going, a year ago, but worth checking now to see what prices are, they allowed a change for data from the 5gb to unlimited for only $5, so now I pay a few cents less than $50/mo for what I already described to you. It was as simple as paying $10 to the state registrar (your state may differ), and getting my business name, then applying online at irs.gov for an EIN (employer identification number) which was emailed to me immediately.
I took the business name certificate and EIN, along with proof of my address to Tmo, and they gave me the plan without any trouble, which surprised me, because it meant the cost of my service dropped.
Good luck.

Please go to the freepress.net petition link and sign the petition to help FCC restore Internet neutrality.
In the press conference Verizon states that they remain committed to open Internet. If that's the case, why did they fight to win the battle to control Internet access and what goes through their networks?
I think Verizon has really done it now. First they want to control how much data people use, next what people do with their phones, now they want to control what websites people can visit or who gets access to the Internet. If they get away with this, it will be the end of free Internet access. I think that's too far for any company to go. I urge people to terminate their lines or service with Verizon if this doesn't get reversed. I am prepared to do the same thing. Without their customers they're nobody, Verizon cannot be allowed to go this far, someone, hopefully the FCC, will put Verizon back in its place!
Oh I will be done with Verizon for sure. Tired of all the bs.

It is disgusting that being cash flush allows major corporations to pervert the Constitution. I don't actually need a cellphone anyway. I have a home phone and a CB with a 700 watt Midnight special linear amp in my truck with a 102" steel whip. It does shut my truck down on occasion though and Jack in The Box hates when I key up.... maybe I need a bigger ground strap?
I guess what I'm saying is the idea of getting people together and boycotting for a purpose is a great idea but it will never happen. Take any given Sunday and 2 million or more people can get together and watch Football but you can even get 2000 together in an effort to preserve their civil rights or freedoms. Just my .02
F U Verizon!!
Our judicial system is completely f'd... once this starts I'm out... Verizon can keep their locked phones and kiss my a$$...
That is such BS. If that were to happen I might have to abandon ship.
I'm on Verizon Unlimited and use about 20gig a month on average and yet to see slowdown - run speed test app often.
If this happens I'm definitely leaving them. Right now I have unlimited data also I can upgrade my line. But with this news going around, I'll just wait and see what happens. Either way I'll be ready for you Verizon!

The trouble is that it isn't just Verizon, this mess has been several years in the making and just about every big internet provider is on the same side as big V. If Verizon gets away with it, it will become standard practice and you won't be able to escape by crossing the street.
The truth is, legally the judge made the correct choice: the FCC doesn't have the authority to regulate broadband internet unless they classify it as a communications service. It was the FCC who dropped the ball on this one and they are the ones who need to fix it.
I've been noticing something strange for the past few days. Maybe it is related to this, maybe not.
If you are an Xfinity TV customer, you might know they offer an app called Xfinity TV Go for mobile streaming. I've called it a scam before because it is only available to Verizon only and it eats about 1.5-2GB/hour without even being high quality. I use it because I have UL data, so that doesn't worry me.
In Philly, I get a whopping 3 Mbps down on Speedtests. Its been like that for more than a year. Up until a few days ago I could stream Youtube HD videos no problem, but now I can't even stream on 4G at low quality (not HD). I installed a traffic meter and it is only using 80-100KB/s, nowhere near saturating 3Mbps. However, on Xfinity TV Go I can pull down 400-500KB/s consistently with spikes to 1MB/s. I only bring this up because Comcast and Verizon are affiliated in markets without FIOS, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were doing something to it.
well this isn't going to be good for some of us....

I don't really feel sorry for those who use 100+ GB/month. Those are the users that prompted the removal of the unlimited plans to start with. You can scream "unlimited is unlimited" if you want but its Verizon's sandbox and they make the rules.

Agreed...there comes a point (about 100 GB a month) where it becomes an "unjust enrichment" for the end user....and this is why we cannot have nice things lol
I'm surprised Verizon didn't go the route of...well the unlimited data plan started in the days of 2G/3G only...so that's the only unlimited data you get...when you are on 2G/3G.
Maybe I shouldn't give them any ideas... :/
agreed. I live out in the boonies, I am on 1x and sometimes 3g. my internet is only dsl at 2.5Mbps (3g speeds) ... so whenever I hit 4g on my phone, I do everything with it. so i sometimes rack up 70gb+ a month. especially when im at work ..teamviewer, netflix, streaming cameras setup at various locations, music is always going, showbox, kodi (tends to use a lot more data than other streaming apps)... the data rack up quick.
Has anyone actually reported receiving a letter yet ?
I use it as primary internet. Been paying for it for so long. Screw paying $60+ a month for cable that is the same speed but doesn't offer the same capabilities that cellular data does. I rack up over 100gb a month but it's a business account so i doubt they will cut me off.
The fcc does nothing about the internet monopoly in my area because it's not considered a monopoly because wireless internet is considered an option. When verizon charges what they do for internet it clearly isn't an option. We all know verizon can afford to give you more GB's at a lower price.
Most of the infrastructure is already in place and they are paying purely for maintenance at this point. And when they are talking about faster speeds with xlte and lte-a they are expecting you to use more data but have no plans on reducing the cost per gb. Faster speeds means a larger resource pool to tap into. The excuse that heavy udp users are decreasing the speeds for others is basically a thing of the past at this point.
Honestly it's all bs marketing and political manipulation. Tell me why countries in the EU can offer unlimited lte data for 35 euoros a month, which people use as their primary internet source, if this isn't the case?

They will regret it, T-Mobiles service, at least here is so spotty its not even worth paying for. When my wife had it she had to use my wifi tethering just to use her phone half the time we went anywhere.
200gb a month is plenty, but the problem is the price of the new plans they want you on. Id never pay those rediculous prices.
But unlimited should be unlimited, i understand that too, but 500gb people... Come on now, that is a little excessive. I don't even come close to that downloading movies all day on my home cable network. So i can see where verizon is coming from. Fair usage.
I am sticking with my Verizon UDP for now, but i have also bought my wife a new phone on at&t's DirecTV unlimited plan that's up to 4 devices just incase verizon pulls out more bs. Figured id jump on that and get grandfathered on that also, since in my area at&t is second best if not identical to Verizon's coverage.
Sprint and T-Mobile are out if the question for me, been there done that.

I agree with you on that one, 200GB/month is a bit excessive and almost abusive to the network load. But for those of us that use 12GB and end up getting our plans yanked from us is insulting. I know I purposefully sought out wifi wherever I could to keep unnecessary use of network resources to a minimum. This is the thanks I was given for my consideration.
To say I feel insulted is putting it lightly.

Oh I feel insulted for you as well. 12GB is not that bad at all. I average 45gb and have not received a letter yet. This whole ordeal is ridiculous. I would rather they implement a cap on the unlimited, like say 100GB or even 40GB and then slow us way down instead of just straight up removing us.
