Controllable music player for BMW cars? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I got my Samsung Galaxy S2 on my BMW 120d linked via bluetooth. But, in contact to my Blackberry, I cannot control the player with the car (I am using Mort Player). So does anyone have a good idea for a good music player that can be controlled from my car?
Best regards
Christian

I have a SGSII and a BMW F30 with the Bluetooth enabled and have been doing a bit of experimenting.
The screen shows the artist, track, album info and I can use the car controls to skip tracks in a playlist or album but I can't select a new playlist or album. The app being used needs to be a system app I think and the only system app. When I used an earlier version of RevolutionRemix with two music apps the last played track from one app would show on the screen but the controls would control the other app!
I am now using the GalaxyMod ROM which comes with the stock Samsung music app. I hate the app but it does allow you to skip tracks using the car controls. I froze the app and installed Google Play Music which I converted to a system app and that too allowed you to skip tracks.
In terms of functionality in the car the stock Samsung app has a slight advantage in that the screen shows the track number and total number of tracks in the selected playlist whereas this isn't shown with the Google app.
However, because of the stupid way the Samsung app sets the albums up, when you click on an artist you are shown every track for each album. If you select a track, the track number and total number of tracks will be based on that track's position within the list of all tracks by that artist.
I would be really keen to know if there is another music app that can be used as a system app that would allow extra functionality. I doubt we will be able to browse songs any time soon but would be nice to have track number and total number of tracks.

[Q] Music Player Alternative

Was wondering if there is a music player app alternative to the original Vibrant music player. The current player picks up all the sound tracks to installed games and plays it along with real songs.
Or: Is it possible to set a designated folder (sd/Music for example) to be the only place the music player app looks at and adds to the library.
thanks in advance

i did that and it made and put it in one of the games folders, worked great, if only i could get the not enough space in music database error to go away, built in music would be golden for me
mixzing. fantastic player. and you can designate the folder that it should look for media in, just as you describe.
i just sold my dedicated mp3 player (32gb sony walkman /oled screen) after test driving this for two weeks. i ended up purchasing it because of all the extra features it has (tagging, scrobbling, etc, plus the lock screen widget).
The free version is still very, very good IMHO

[Q] Music Player App

Ok, so I've been using the stock android music player for over 2 months now. It has all the functionality I want in a music player except maybe editing tags (album name, artists, etc) and finding album art (Album Art Grabber is my current solution to this).
The problem I have been having with this player is that when transferring music to the phone via 'Windows Media Sync' option is that sometimes the album art will not appear on the phone (happens to quite a few albums) and also the tags will be messed up. For instance, just recently I turned the phone on and was browsing my music library and all of a sudden the song titles appeared in lower case (ie. 'Tighten Up' became 'tighten up') I know this is a small thing but I find it annoying a little. Other things like artists will appear as 'Unknown'.
Anyone experience these problems as well? What programs/apps do you guys use? I've tried out poweramp trial version and it does allow my to edit tags but I was wondering if there is an app that is a sort of one click 'Find Album Info' like in Windows Media Player?
Check the music player called Neutron on the app market

Help re music player apps

Looking for a little help on music player apps. Specifically, a tablet running 4.3 (should be updated to 4.4 in a month or two according to the manufacturer), all music will be on SD card.
Currently, all my music is album oriented and sorted by Genres, then Artists, then Albums. This works on my iPod in my car (both iTunes and car software work flawlessly) and on my MP3 player (both MS My Music and player software work flawlessly). I start with Genres, find my Genre and click, brings up Artists within this Genre in alphabetical order, click on my Artist and brings up the Albums, click on Album and the songs, in album order, come up. Click on the first song and the album plays all the way through.
I haven't found an Android music app which will do this. Many sort by Genre, then go into directly into Songs, in alphabetical order. Many sort by Artists, but with over 20gb of music and hundreds of Artists, this takes forever to get to ZZ Top.
Anyone know of a music app which can go from Genre to Artist to Album? If this approach works with iTunes/iPods and MS Music, I found it hard to think I haven't found an Android app which can do this. Tried about 20 players in Play Store and haven't found one that does this. All help is appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. No playtlists; no single songs; simply albums by artist catagorized into genres.
Have you try some of them?
Apollo - Music player:

beat (2.0.2) - a music player with floating controls

Google Play Music:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.music&hl=no
(I recommend you to try Apollo and see if it right music player for you)
All of these only allow single level searches. I'm looking for something that allows a three level search; first, genre; second, artist; third, album.
It seems ironic I can do this with iTunes and MS Media Player but not with Android. I must be missing something here.

Mixzing
In case anyone is looking for the same thing, Mixzing works. You can set it for Genres; click on your genre, it shows the Artists. Click on your artist, and it shows the artist's Albums. Click on the album you want, and it shows the Songs, in album order.
Exactly what I was looking for.

Problem with voice Control for Music on Wear

Hey XDA-Developers Community!
I've got a Problem regarding the Voice Control Features for Music Playback on Android Wear.
I often use it to quickly start listening to Music of a certain Artist, by saying something like: play [artist].
But when doing this on my Moto 360 it always launches the SoundCloud app and searches for the corresponding Artist there.
However, I want this to be done with Google Play Music or the Music app provided by CM11.
When using Google Now on my Phone (LG G3 running CM11) I can choose which app should be used for Playback and it always uses my Preset.
I have "Music Playback" set to Play Music in the Android Wear Application and reset any default Actions in the app Directory of the Phone Settings.
I hope that someone maybe had the same Issue and/or knows a Way around it.
Greetings from Germany and I wish you all an awesome (hopefully sunny) Sunday!

Music app which can auto-crossfade playlist?

Hello all, I am searching the net for a music app which will auto-crossfade a playlist of tunes. According to the description, it seems that the Rocket Player app can do this but I installed it and there's a gap between the tunes. Is there any other app I can try or if Rocket player can do this, how can I get support from it's developer please?
jet-audio
Thanks, I tried it, it is not auto-crossfading so I have written to the developer for help.
what do you mean by "auto-crossfading". if it has anything got to do with fading out the end of the current song and fading into the new song its there

I mean I select a playlist and the software will play every song on it's own without myself having to select song after song, like a shuffle feature but it will crossfade every tune so no gaps in between the tunes.
BlackPlayer! Does it all... I like a lot this new minimalistic toy

Same deal with blackplayer, even though the "gapless" option is selected it is not crossfading, would you mind checking the audio preferences in blackplayer on your android phone and let me know what else is checked so I can set mine the same way please?
You could try PlayerPro. Been with for ages, and always come back to it. It's even running right now, crossfading as you wish
Tapatalked from my Note 3
i think what you're looking for is something like Mix and Mash on iTunes. This program allows you to choose the songs you like (either individually or by playlist) and then you crossfade songs for any length of time. Plus, you don't have to play the entire song, you can choose to play whatever amount of time you would like and songs usually begin playing somewhere in the middle, so you don't have to listen to the beginning or end of a song.
Is there an app like this for android???
Poweramp. It's not free, but I believe there is a trial. I've used it for years now. It's one of the few apps have made the journey from Gingerbread to Nougat with me, lol... Turn on the cross-fading in the settings, and play any song from the 'All Songs' list. You can turn on shuffle or let the list play in order. There are two settings [other than off] under Auto-advance fading, one is to only crossfade songs that aren't gapless and the other is to crossfade all songs. You might have to change the setting to the 'Crossfade all songs' setting, as many songs I've tried don't seem to do it. This creates a problem if you want to listen to an album that is gapless (no delay between tracks), so toggle the setting as needed
I found one called media monkey and it has a cross-fade in the settings. throw a playlist in and it mixes all tracks with no silence
In case anyone is still looking, the best crossfade I found is "neutron music player" (evaluation version). All other players (Pi music player, dub music player) I tried will "crossfade" only if I follow playlist order, but there is an obvious break if I randomly pick a song from the list. I use this app to play pad music and have to choose different files as needed instead of following the order of playlist.
However, neutron has really horrendous interface compared to others. Not user friendly at all, I would have given it up immediately if I could find something else that works.
