Same here. I've had the phone since december but didn't notice the "spots" until the other day. Maybe they were there from the start, I don't know. Doesn't really bother me though.
No I do not press too hard on the screen. My razr hasn't gotten warm at all since I have had it. I got the first shipment of the maxx. I don't have any screen protector. Ill go to Verizon and exchange it for another one.

LOL thats pretty common, if described by Motorola as something that is supposed to be there because of the screen type! I have it in the same conditions as you and others have spoke of. I denied it until I looked hard of enough then seen them, I have forgotten about them until now. Hehe just dont look for them and you'll be alright.
It's the screen itself and how it's made. I've read every thread on every board about this issue, and there's a lot of threads. A couple instances of people actually calling Motorola and them telling them its normal. A couple people claimed to have been on their 4th RAZR and it was always there.

Figured I would post up the new phone I got today!
Was debating on getting one for a while to use instead of my ReZound and decided to pull the trigger when the LE version came out.
Same software and such as the regular version so not a huge deal but still kinda cool nonetheless.

How much did u get yours for? Looks cool. Not $2k cool but very cool and rare
Yeah its is the red employee limited edition. Now that it is mentioned, the pix do make it look a bit on the purple side!
I work for VzDubya so just got it at the normal going rate.
I saw one on Craigslist for $700. It does look really cool.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
700 doesn't seem too shabby for someone who is going to buy one outright anyway. Through Verizon they are about 695 without a contract. Not positive if they are in fact locked to employee lines though.
I have a RAZR now could not justify to use the upgrade line and get the limited edition one.

The small thumbnail pic kinda looks purple but, I can tell it's red.
Looks great!!!!
That color looks closer to the red family than it is purple to me. Looks nice, different!! Wished they made a white version for the Maxx!! That's my favorite of the og Razr.

I have returned one Razr Maxx for this issue. The unit I have know also has this issue. I will explain...
Your screen has to be black. I achieve this by either doing a google image search for black image or.. While hdmi out to TV (screen goes to black while hdmi out)
When screen is black and you yourself are in a dark room, example: laying in bed with lights out.
Look at your screen. You will see black blotches or black lines on your screen.
The two maxx phones i've had both show these abnormalities but... They appear differently between the two phones.
Wondering if this is a screen issue or is it some kind of glue underlying the screen.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Do you see it when in normal usage? I couldn't so who cares.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
This will get locked. I posted last week and apparently it is normal. At first I was ready to return it but it isn't hurting screen on performance.
What I would like to know is: are there screens that do not have this?

How does this affect you? If you're looking at an all black screen and looking for a speck you have major ocd. Its not the black screen with specks.... it's your ocd.

OK. Look at it in the dark on a black screen and see what you can find. Or go to some content and see what it can do.
I have ocd too. And thanks to you I'll never put a black screen on my Razr in the dark.

It's a AMOLED display and this is normal. All AMOLED displays have this at some degree.
I've never looked at it in a dark room. it's a phone. It's not a proofing display.
My screen has this problem as well. It def looks like a manufacturing defect, but I noticed after the 14 days so vzn wouldn't give me a new phone just a refurb. I just decided to keep it for now maybe I'll do a warranty claim later.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Side effect of the Super Amoled display. All Razr' will have this. Exchange to your hearts content but you won't get one without it. Look at it like this though. What problems does your current device NOT have? When you exchange your device you might pick up new issues. Just keep that in mind.

lmao.... I'm pretty ocd as well... but on a black screen??? Never would have even considred it an issue unless it was noticeable during normal use....
You have to be in a pitch black room to even notice it. It can be a nuisance when watching movies in bed, though.

I had a Bionic -> Razr -> Razr Maxx
The Maxx is definitely the better of the three.
The Bionic is a good phone, but is now read ended and people are even seeing warranty replacements being offered to them as Razr or Razr Maxx.
Forget the Bionic..

I went with the MAXX and so far so good.
I have owned both phones. I would still have my bionic but I jumped into a pool with it.
I actually got paid $40 to get that phone it's a funny story actually.
But I now own the Razr Maxx and it owns hands down. Battery life is x5 of what my bionic was.
I had to turn off data when not in use (I good practice but I don't have to on the Razr) and I never ran it on 4g because it would just instantly drain the battery. I had eclipse rom on it and it still drained like crazy.
Razr Maxx > Bionic
Razr is superior in every way.
Shouldn't be to hard of a choice.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. However while the razr is no longer in the top tier of phones, it's still a very solid device. Build quality is excellent, great hardware, and will be getting more software updates(jellybean). Yes the up dates may take a while but at least we know they are coming. Besides only about 20% of all android OS's are using ICS. Compare that to the 1.2% running jellybean. Unless you are one of those people that have to spend top dollar on the latest and greatest only to have it be obsolete in a month, the razr series phones are fantastic devices.

Got the raze m Yesterday and I must say that for so $99 with contract you just can't beat it. Little disappointed I bought razr Maxx then moto releases 3-4 killer phones soon after. ...it is what it is. Anyway razr m is a little on the small side which i like and its solid. The phone is a great size, it fits so naturally in your hand. The benchmark results from quadrant was nothing shy of 4467! I think that's impressive compared To my Maxx Which is upper 2700s. Does that extra .3ghz make that huge of a difference? This dual core rocking the snap dragon 1.5ghz is right up there with the HTC one x
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
I think it's more of the Snapdragon S4 processor being better than TI-OMap. I don't care for benchmarks, it's about real world usage.
RAZR M is cool. I would upgraded to the Maxx HD though. You not getting much change from a Maxx to RAZR M in my opinion. Better processor and more recent software stuff but what else? Not trying to hate, just saying the HD RAZR's would of been a better upgrade for me.

I believe the size and the screen display is the same the current Razr/Maxx have. So that's not an upgrade if you're moving to the Razr M.

What phones are you referring to? Because the only new Motorola phone released after the RAZR MAXX was the Droid 4. There might have been a new color released for the Droid RAZR, but no new phones. The RAZR M is the 1st new phone released since February. Of course I'm only counting phones released on VZW.

I think the OP was referring to the new Razr's announced. Razr M, Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD, and Razr i. It is kind of soon because the Razr Maxx came out in 2012 and it hasn't even been 12 months yet and Motorola's already got 4 new and better phones out/coming out.

The RAZR MAXX came out towards the end of Jan. The Droid 4 was in Feb. The RAZR M just came out in the 2nd week of Sept. That's a lot of time between phones for Motorola. I count 3 new phones coming out, the RAZR M and the RAZR HD and MAXX HD. The RAZR/MAXX HD phones most likely aren't coming until sometime around Thanksgiving. That would be a year after the 1st Droid RAZR was released.

The OP has a Razr Maxx, not the skinny Razr, so it's not even a year yet. A year is 12 months in the U.S.
Shows how much quality they put into each of their phones. It's clear they care more about putting out the most phones they can rather than focusing on quality such as their average 8MP camera work just to name something. For me it's about quality, not quantity. The Razr M is cool for a lower end release (save some people money). The Razr Maxx HD would of been enough of a successor from the Razr/Razr Maxx. What is the point for them to release the Razr HD? And I don't even care for the Razr i.
Well for me I would get the regular Razr Hd, I like my phone to be thin and its the same specs as the Maxx so why not? When i bought my razr the maxx was already out and i chose the regular razr because it was so damn thin i love it.
The only thing that really pisses me off about the new phones is that they are all thicker than the originals. I agree the maxx has an awesome battery but too me its not worth the thickness, even if it is slight.
