Anyone has these? The spots are all over when the screen turns black like in text msgs or when your about to watch a YouTube video.

133 ppl and no one has this? Is it a visual thing or a problem with my screen?

Same here. I've had the phone since december but didn't notice the "spots" until the other day. Maybe they were there from the start, I don't know. Doesn't really bother me though.

No I do not press too hard on the screen. My razr hasn't gotten warm at all since I have had it. I got the first shipment of the maxx. I don't have any screen protector. Ill go to Verizon and exchange it for another one.

if I have to pay another restocking fee for a defective device ama kill someone. At least the splashes don't show up on color just when ur in a dark room or at night and only on black background.

LOL thats pretty common, if described by Motorola as something that is supposed to be there because of the screen type! I have it in the same conditions as you and others have spoke of. I denied it until I looked hard of enough then seen them, I have forgotten about them until now. Hehe just dont look for them and you'll be alright.

It's the screen itself and how it's made. I've read every thread on every board about this issue, and there's a lot of threads. A couple instances of people actually calling Motorola and them telling them its normal. A couple people claimed to have been on their 4th RAZR and it was always there.

Lines in the LCD when display is off?

I just noticed when my display is off or when the phone is off, I have lines in the LCD. Is it me or do you have it as well? May swap it out if it is only me.
Not just you. I have no clue what they are though.

People those lines are the touchscreen matrix. Nothing wrong with them.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G
Most of the new devices have those lines.I remember when I first got my Atrix it was the same thing.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA App
Its what registers your finger press, those are the bio-electric sensors
I didn't notice it with my first Amaze, but it really sticks out on this one. I am doing a warranty exchange on it.
doubt youll see any difference,
It "sticks out" because you know its there. I have sold a ton of them and have yet to see any that "stuck out"
I don't see any lines. Or am I not looking hard enough. lol

You see them on sunlight when screen is off
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
its the digitizer.
not a big issue if the screen isn't on imho.
I noticed it the first day I got my Amaze and thought it was a bit odd (my old Galaxy S didn't have these lines, they're the first I've seen on a touch screen phone actually) and until you brought it up today I've pretty much forgotten about them
It sticks out for me. I'm just gonna have it swapped out for a new one just to be on the safe side.

Really??
You might wanna swap your car out for a new one too, since the engine makes a noise when it's on...

I have a brother who's a mechanic so I have that taken care of. T-Mobile sends it out with no charge so I can care less. Jacka$$.
I noticed that the lines stick out very hard when it is cold outside.
I called T-Mobile and they sent me a replacement yesterday.
With my luck, the replacement was water damaged.
I called them and told them and I received the new one today. So far it is looking good!
i notice them too. it is normal. however, i see scratches only when i fog up the screen. I believe it is the coating getting the scratches.

White kit

Anyone know if there's a white kit around for the RAZR? Mines black and I want white
Sent from my DROID RAZR
Closest thing I've seen was someone selling a white back on eBay. Even if a kit was offered it would likely cost more than buying a good used white & selling you black(it's even possible you could come out ahead going this route but with whites not as common it's likely you'll find one for less than what the blacks to for but you never know).

Underlying screen issue

I have returned one Razr Maxx for this issue. The unit I have know also has this issue. I will explain...
Your screen has to be black. I achieve this by either doing a google image search for black image or.. While hdmi out to TV (screen goes to black while hdmi out)
When screen is black and you yourself are in a dark room, example: laying in bed with lights out.
Look at your screen. You will see black blotches or black lines on your screen.
The two maxx phones i've had both show these abnormalities but... They appear differently between the two phones.
Wondering if this is a screen issue or is it some kind of glue underlying the screen.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Do you see it when in normal usage? I couldn't so who cares.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
This will get locked. I posted last week and apparently it is normal. At first I was ready to return it but it isn't hurting screen on performance.
What I would like to know is: are there screens that do not have this?

How does this affect you? If you're looking at an all black screen and looking for a speck you have major ocd. Its not the black screen with specks.... it's your ocd.

all RAZRs have this it is NORMAL. this question comes up every two weeks
i noticed this issue with the two MAXXs i've had... never had a phone that has these screen issues, very weird.

You're looking at it the wrong way.. I work hard for my money. When you spend over $600 on something you use everyday - and - when you have 14 days to try out an investment you look for imperfections. OCD... No, more like protecting an investment.

OK. Look at it in the dark on a black screen and see what you can find. Or go to some content and see what it can do.
I have ocd too. And thanks to you I'll never put a black screen on my Razr in the dark.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
It's a AMOLED display and this is normal. All AMOLED displays have this at some degree.
I've never looked at it in a dark room. it's a phone. It's not a proofing display.
My screen has this problem as well. It def looks like a manufacturing defect, but I noticed after the 14 days so vzn wouldn't give me a new phone just a refurb. I just decided to keep it for now maybe I'll do a warranty claim later.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Side effect of the Super Amoled display. All Razr' will have this. Exchange to your hearts content but you won't get one without it. Look at it like this though. What problems does your current device NOT have? When you exchange your device you might pick up new issues. Just keep that in mind.

Can we put this in a sticky or FAQ?
It's old. It's tired.
I google imaged an all black wallpaper and i can't see any blemishes. Am i blind?

lmao.... I'm pretty ocd as well... but on a black screen??? Never would have even considred it an issue unless it was noticeable during normal use....
You have to be in a pitch black room to even notice it. It can be a nuisance when watching movies in bed, though.

question about ics

how do motorola or verizon decide on who gets ics first is it by last name or first name or by state i was just wondering if anyone knew
They're like "well, who'll be the next one to get the ics update, let's see... Oh, see that user? He bought razr a 8 mouths ago, he must be waiting a lot for the update, let's skip him...
Now, see this guy? He bought razr just a week ago, let's update him for the lolz."
And that's how, an update born.

Hate to be the only serious reply, but I think it's regional. They send it out to different parts of the country in chunks to preserve server space and bandwidth. As far as who/where gets it when, I'm sure some big Whig uses a dart with a map on their wall...

My eyes are bleeding

All I can say is, "Wow." I've spent the last few days using my Note 2, and kind of got used to it. Just now I fired up my DNA, and the crisp, sharp, detailed screen is music to my eyes. I absolutely love this display.
There are a lot of things to like about Samsung, but I think I'm starting to understand why people have a love affair with HTC.

i haven't checked one out in person yet, but to be honest, i'm over AMOLED.
the fact that my white GS3 has banding issues on gray backgrounds (while my blue S3 doesn't..) and the fact that my white S3 also has thos infamous black AMOLED splotches when the screen is black, makes me not want to ever purchase an AMOLED screen again.
my DNA has one tiny stuck white pixel on it that i don't even notice anymore..i'd much rather live with that than the banding/vertical lines and the black splotches in the dark. samsung can keep their AMOLED; i'm diggin SLCD!
I have a nexus 7 that I use all the time when at home. When I go from the nexus to the Dna it is like night and day. The Dna screen is flat out gorgeous.

Agreed... The only reason I'm using my n7 right now is because it felt abandoned.

haha yeah poor nexus... but that screen is still better than the screen on the gs3 lol.
i actually really like the n7 screen. at first I thought it was too washed out, which is sort of is... but i got one anyway and loved it. I don't use it often anymore since getting the dna, but i still really like it a lot. I'm waiting to see what the next n7 will be like with the 1080p screen. i'll probably get that and give my n7 to my dad lol
