so my thunderbolt had gotten wet and died. however the void sticker is still black and intact. the battery sticker is still not indicating water damage. are there any other indicators in this phone?
Take the back cover off, its one on the top side of the battery, and its one on the left side of the phone in a little "peep hole" that has a void sticker on it
I got pushed into the water at a party. Phone in pocket. Let my phone dry out for three days. Popped in a new battery and it works fine. Hope your luck is as good

you know it's funny, my old HD2... i threw it out the window once while i was driving and went back to get it. it was still just fine a side from a few scratches. another time i had it laying on the center console and some jerk pulled out in front of me, had to slam on my breaks and the HD2 went flying at the windshield.. it ended up causing a major crack(spiderwebs and all) and had to get the windshield replaced. yet the HD2 was still fine.
one day i accidentally spilled a few drops of water on it and no matter what i tried(drying out, putting in bowl w/ rice, etc) nothing at all work. the thing was dead.

If the battery and. The sight hole on the phone are both a solid color then it has water damage according to Verizon, if red background with white letters or numbers visible then water damage they can't hold you responsible
Bolted Down....

where is the "sight hole" can you take a photo of what it should look like and its location?
i believe i found it. it seems to be viewed threw the gap on the lower left side.
Possible fix
I once got my phone wet and first thing I did was shut it off take out the battery and put it into a box of dry rice, the rice will pull the water out of the phone, leave it in there as long as you are able to. worked for me and my phone was watered by sprinklers for like 10 mins.
water damage indicators
Besides the one on the battery and the clearly visible one on the upper right of the phone there is a hidden water indicator in the crack along the left side of the case. BELOW the void sticker. You will see a light rectangle outline in between the between the pairs of holes below that void sticker. Look in the crack right next to that rectangle. You might need to shine a light in there to see it clearly.
I just discovered this when debating whether or not to try to get a warranty replacement. The visible indicator is fine but the one in that crack is half red and half x's.
Hey,
I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet. it still works (and the toilet was clean) but the white dot you can see after taking out the battery and looking above the serial code is now red. Is there any way to replace that dot? Are there any other water indicators? My device is under warranty and I want to get it replaced.
there is another water indicator in your battery. you can try to find the water indicator sticker on ebay. i have no idea if they have the exact one.
I have replaced my phone at least 3 times and they always send me my phone first and then I send mine. Do you think they'll check the water indicators and fine me?
also anyone have a picture of a battery with the indicator? Mine is white with red lines dunno if that's cause it's wet or if it's always like that

They will see it has been in water from the indicators, and then you will be billed full retail for a new phone. My ex tried this herself..............yeah, she peed a little when she got the bill. If you are under contract, they will suspend your service if you don't pay for the replacement. She said FU to AT&T when this happened and changed carriers right away.
That's usually the first thing they ask, probably the first thing they check !
Btw, no such thing as a clean toilet...lol!

the cool thing is it works aside from some memory hiccups and the random alarm going off.
gps and internet work great lol i'll check ebay and let you know
so only 2 indicators right? 1 on the phone and 1 on the battery?
also would this work? http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-Your-Cell-Phones-quotI-Got-Wetquot-Indic/?ALLSTEPS
Or maybe i can order a new phone and then swap the stickers then send them my busted phone?

I had a problem like yours before, except my Atrix was "damaged" by rain... Everything worked, but I just wanted to get it replaced, so what I did:
1. Ordered this: WATER DAMAGE INDICATOR STICKER FOR HTC DESIRE Z A7272
This is the replacement for the HTC G2, it's the largest water damage sticker size out there. Atrix is 6mm, G2 is 4mm. It works because only 2mm is shown on the Atrix, so that leaves 2mm for error.
2. When it gets to you follow this guide till step 6.
3. On the back cover that you took off you will find the red sticker. Peel it off. Take the HTC sticker and place it so that the white side is facing the right way, the sticky side won't be touching anything.
4. Apply a small piece of tape on the sticky red side to keep it on the casing. Check that you did a good job, and put the phone back together.
5. Get it replaced under warranty!
Thanks guys cheers
I wonder if you could just use like a plain white sticker, like from an address label or something
the only thing i'd be worried about is that they might try getting it wet
You guys do know insurance fraud is a felony right?
Hi Guys,
Dropped my White S2 (on my drunken stroll home - dropped it whilst removing it from its protective pouch!!!) just before Christmas and taken 3 or 4 chips out of the silver edge, it has been an eyesore for me ever since, my once beautiful phone is now ugly! Most people say it is hardly noticeable but I know its there!
I've repaired phone screens before, desoldered chips, fixed DVD drive lasers etc so I am fairly competent with electronics and circuitry.
After looking at several guides (all of Black S2s), from what I can tell from pictures, the silver part is part of the main housing? Bit of a bummer but can someone confirm this who has taken one apart?
Is it fixed/glued to the screen part?
On eBay you can buy the complete housing for around $10usd including the battery door. I believe the silver bezel is part of / attached to the front housing.
The item shown is black but I'm sure they would have white as well.

you cannot replace the silver bezel without removing the screen which will get damaged if you tried.
If you want to change the bezel then u would have to replace the screen too
A nice idea,if you wouldn't mind your phone being a couple millimeters wider and a few grams heavier is to get a bumper.Especially some metallic(mostly aluminum) ones are quite cool.I now use Case-mate POP case, but have set my eyes on getting the Taurus aluminum bumper,as I too have a slight hit on the silver bezel.
Although I have to admit, with the Taurus in particular, the phone looks like Robocop to be honest. There are others too though and there is also a thread in the Accessories section.
Ahh that sucks! I've seen official replacement screens for around £60, may have to do it that way!

today i checked my s3, i found this the paint of my inside screen "back" key peeling off near the border inside the gorilla glass, its really faint but if u look close u can see it, i heard samsung have problem with the blue version but my gs3 is only 2 weeks old, never feel, so far only thing it could get there is a raindrop.
anyone else here experience something similar? was trying to get picture but its really thin hard to notice.
i dont think warranty will cover it, especially since i root it, and its perfectly working phone. sadly in a year when i can sell it probably going to lose more paint.
I feel your pain bro imperfections bug the hell out a me because once you notice it your always looking at it , I've had no issues with my pebble blue beast yet but this is my second one in 2 weeks the first one I messed up flashing modems anyway phone the store and tell them there's a problem with your phone when trying to answer calls that's what I did ten days after buying mine , and see if they will exchange it , if yes just wipe binary factory reset and take that ***** back , at the end of the day its a £500 pound smartphone if your not happy you should be able to return or exchange it , I'd go to the shop and make them exchange it or else : ) good luck don't waste time

Do you have a screen protector? I have the pebble blue with a screen protector and haven't noticed anything.

no, but the peeling was inside the screen and it looks really over the thin border... i have only 2 weeks with the phone.
i got it on contract on claro, and i doubt they going to exchange it over something so small as paint :/
i looked in AT&T gs3 forums and pretty similar to the border chrome peeling off issue :/, like my n82 eventually it all wear off with time.
The only reason there were launch delays for the SGS3 were because of the pebble blue version even though they are made of the same material you can look closely that they have a difference with the white version in the feel of your palm. Manufacturer's are having a crisis in the pebble blue department that's why I took the white one instead.

Just unroot/triangle away and return to store. Its worth a try.
I'm using a TPU case with screen protector since day 1 as always. No problem.
Okay I can't say that I own a s3 but with Samsung phones in general I can tell you this. My Samsung impression(dinosaur) had the same problem. After awhile the paint was coming off chipping and all that. Its just what Samsung uses I suppose just had to put my two sense in

as I post on the other threat
My top left hand corner stainless steel paint peel off. my phone in the protective case first day! I don't even till I was shopping for extra case, remove it and there it is black color!
Do you guys think they exchange another one for me?
Can we see some images?
No case/protector here since day 1. Phone is about a month and half old. As good as new, no paint peel, no scratch/crack on its own.
would be hard to get a picture, its really small but its pretty much blue paint peeling from the lighter blue border, it looks black below. its really faint,i dont touch it so it doesnt remove more paint
i going to ask tomorow but i doubt it, they gotta replace it.
if not, i guess i will have to order online a protector. but even n82 took a while for the paint to peel, this took 2 weeks.
I have been using mine with no protection at all for a few weeks now and have not had any issues- blue s3

Hi guys, I was wondering how the water sticker is supposed to look like? I bought my evo 3d used, but at the time of sale it seemed completely fine. However, the stickers on the battery and inside the battery slot on the phone have red stripes going through it...is that normal? Thanks to anyone that can answer this.
That's normal and there is one on the back of the phone right below the headphone jack that should look the same.
I believe the red turns white when wet. I know I thought it would be white--->red but no.
The red lines once wet bleed and turn the whole sticker red. Its happened to mine
sent from MY BAD A$$ ET4G
My theory is they put the red stripes on there so you can't bleach them if they get wet because they used top be poor white and turn red or pink when they got wet.
