Hey guys, heres the ftf file for the rogers firmware, i have tested it, and everything works fine
http://www.multiupload.com/CTCZYN1WJL
Feel free to hit thanks button
awsome! how have you done that?!?!?
what about root? will i lose my root access? cuz im currently using the uk firmware, but i wanna go back to stock rogers due to warranty purposes just in case anything happens!
Well most likely root will be gone seeing how its 2.3.3 and no way to root it yet
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
well that sucks, unless someone had the ftf of the original rogers 2.3.2 stock rom...would it work if i installed the stock 2.3.2 first, install gingerbreak...AND THEN, update to 2.3.3 over the air?

why do you think it would brick??? i did exactly that with the UK fw 2.3.2 then gingerbreak then OTA 2.3.3 and mine isnt bricked, you would only brick it if you had it totally unlocked
thats what i did as well with the uk firmware 2.3.2...and my bootloader isnt unlocked! so no one has the rogers 2.3.2 ftf?

I think it would work. If only we had the android 2.3.2 ftf.
I hate how the arc section has it but we don't! makes you think no one bought this phone. May be we can get the person that found the arc ftf to help us get the play's ftf.
yeh guys, i been trying to get the 2.3.2 files for the play, but can't and root will be gone for sure, but if anyone can get me the DB folder for the 2.3.2 firmware, lemme know, ill mkae the ftf

If only their is a way to get those files. Do you know of a way some one can get them? Is it possible to unload them from the phone it self?
I have a feeling we will see root very soon because the droid3 can't work with gingerbreak so a new method is probably in the works.
can we patch the ftf to get it rooted?
If your bootloader is unlocked you can flash this, patch RootXperia.zip in recovery mode and get root. Which is exactly what I plan to do later today!

That would be amazing. If I only I was this skilled in programming.
It's actually super easy if you are able to unlock BL...
Did some testing last night, left my data intact from R800i version of 2.3.3 and flashed everything else with this FTF. Works just as it should, no errors of any kind. Swype needed to be re-installed but that was about it. This is a nice thing for us unbranded/unlocked AT&T owners to get back to officially having an R800a
Only final thing after rooting and pulling stock apps is to change boot screen so there's no Rogers logo. You can get the original unbranded SE boot animation for the Play here:

So that file is a Rogers 2.3.3 ftf with root?
Edit: Never mind I saw that that file was the boot animation. Do you know of a way we can do this for locked bootloaders or get an flash file if you have one.
I guess I found a way to get 2.3.2 rogers ftf!!
(I don't know if this operation can brick your phone)
1- find someone with 2.3.2 rogers on his phone
2- try flashing a firmware on it..
3- STOP the flashing process
4- attempt a recovery using seus
5- get the db folder!
Has anyone still on that firmware?

Unfortunately no way to do it without root access, and as far as I know there's no way to modify FTFs.
What are the downsides of unlocking the bootloader ?.
I know you lose the OTA but you can re lock the bootloader if need be.
I have read about the DRM issue and i am not sure what negative side effects that brings.
Also is there anything else it breaks IE Camera etc ..
Thank you.
DRM is all that breaks. Not really an essential if you don't use TrackID or the integrated Music 'Like' FB functions. Everything else is the same. Except that you can use recovery and load cool custom roms.

Hi all,
I saw in the Android development topic that it's possible to unlock the bootloader.
Why would I want to unlock the bootloader? What are the (dis-)advantages?
Greets,
Jarcol
The bootloader in our phone lock us down from pretty much doing anything to.the phone. But when we unlock it we are then able to control the phone ourselves. (theoretically) we are able to do what the hell we want to this phone now. For example unlocking the bootloader simply allows you to flash unsigned/modified .sin files.
Now. This will not happen overnight as there is a lot of things to it mate. What you need to remember is there is hardware to think about and and a hell of a lot more.
Hope this helps!!
Yup, agreed. Main thing is to load custom kernal without load stock kernal. Which mean custom kernal load directly.

Flash DooMLoRDs unlocked kernel and if it doesn't display the white "Sony Ericsson" text upon start-up, then it's unlocked
I've flashed Dooms kernel and now is appearing an android logo with 2 vertical color bars top and bottom.
Does this mean it's successfully unlocked ?
Because during the unlocking it gave some errors cause he couldn't find some files.
Thanks
yes it is unlocked.
but is that doon kernel not the one that causes the phone not to go into deep sleep and has serious battery drain issues?
i think u should go back to the stock kernel or just use the Doom stock kernel. that one has just xrecovery put into it, and nothing else, meaning its practically the same as stock kernel.
shame that the bootloader unlock is coming at a time when all the Devs are moving on/have moved on to other phones. a week now and nothing new to report about for X10.

Hello
Just purchased a SK17i Xperia Mini Pro Black Version that is locked to 02 (UK network). I am obvously new to all this stuff but do have a basic understanding but here are some questions:
1) I am thinking of waiting until Android 4.0 is Officially released by SE to update my phone (btw, anyone know when the update is coming). Was wondering when I update will I still be able to root my phone?
2) When I root (if I can) I want to install Set CPU to overclock my phone. However I have heard this drains batteries? Is this true and if so how can I make my phone faster?
3) I need to unlock my phone. Can this be done for free after rooting? If not, can someone link me to the cheapest place I can get this unlocked from?
Thanks in advance to anyone that answers
Hey dude,welcome to XMP family.
1)According to Xperia Blog,XMP will get the ICS update in the end of May or early June, after the first wave for arcS,neoV and ray.I don't know whether we can root it on official ICS or not,but I think to get a rooted phone is easy once you unlock the bootloader, and besides, there are so many developers here.
2)When it comes to overclocking, apparently it would cause battery drain faster. But with my experience,I hardly feel its difference on SE stock Rom.As for custom rom like FXP's,which I has used for a while,it drains about 2~3% per hour while idle(drop speed is two times than stock.)
3)Certainly you can unlock your phone for free, see this thread & tutorial. But it should be noticed that once you unlock it then you may invalidate your warranty.
Mine is on FXP CM9(ICS) and it's kind of laggy, but I can't tell it's because of the ICS rom or existed bugs.As SE said,we may not have the same experience like Gingerbread if we update to ICS.

Hello mate, thanks for the great post
I think I will leave stock ROM once updated actually, seems to be running fine atm as it is.
I think I will still update to the official ICS when it comes out as does look worth it.
Just about no. 3) I think your talking about after rooting, the process to get custom ROMs by unlocking the bootloader? I was talking about the network? lol
Unless I'm mistaken?
Thanks again

There is no way to get your phone unlocked from a network for free but WontanServer offers an unlocking for $15. You can try that out. Just type WontanServer in Google and click the 1st link. WontanServer is legit and won't steal your money
Though as a warning you might not be able to update to ICS as it also might unlock your bootloader. Just double check, as I am not 100% sure. Also it will void your warranty

good thing in the sense? If you don't bother about warranty then you can try custom ROM ics.but the problem is some bugs are not fixed by developers they will take time.main bug is camera not working..i am using ics so just check k? Good luck

He meant that the Wotanserver network-unlock method might unlock your bootloader (which it does). This bootloader unlock, whilst giving you access to custom ROMs etc, might not behave with official SONY updates (such as ICS) - I'd link you for proof but I'm not allowed to due to my low post count .
Also, Google 'Omnius Unlock'. They will unlock your phone for free over the next few days (Easter promotion). I'm not sure how reputable those guys are though so you'll want to check.
Thanks for that Omnius Lock thing, looks great and will check it out
So, if I unlock it I may be unable to upgrade to 4.0? That is a bit stupid to say the least? Anyone on an Xperia that was unlocked then ugraded to 4.0? Did it become locked again?

Well I'm not sure about 'stupid', you'll have to weigh it up. If you look in the development section, there's already a very useable version of ICS (look for MiniCMSanwich), which is potentially better than Sony's bloatware-infused and themed version (not to mention probably unrootable) due in a couple of months.
I think it's mainly FOTA bricks that happen (over-the air updating from Sony), and some bootloader unlocks allow for this by just patching the bootloader to make it seem unlocked (any SETool unlock will do this). So there are a number of options.
Be careful also of some bootloader methods stripping the DRM keys, these are used by Sony services like TrackID, which will cease to work (permanently) following a bootloader unlock.
Edit: There's a distinct difference between a network unlock and a bootloader unlock, the former will nearly always also execute the latter, but the latter can be done by itself (obviously only on unbranded phones). The method of getting a custom ROM is basically network unlock > bootloader unlock > root > install custom kernel > install custom ROM. Root can be done before the unlocks, I believe.
I'm new to all this too, only trying to explain because I know how much of a total pain it was to work it all out .

It is the same unlock method, just everything brought to one place by that app maker.
Rooting your phone before custom ROM installation is not needed, because old ROM(stock) gets deleted anyway and custom ROMs include root already.

I've been reading all day, yet I still don't have it quite clear.
My phone can not unlock the BL, therefore regardless how many firmwares I will flash it I won't be able to remove branded apps, right? because I need it rooted to remove the apps I don't want.
On the other hand, If I get a code to remove the sim lock when the time comes and the BL may be unlocked, will I be able to unlock the BL, I read in a post something that confused me regarding unlocking the sim by a code from a internet provider, but don't remember where.
Thank You
I got mine networked unlocked and the bootloader is still locked. From my understanding it does not change it to yes by unlocking sim. I have only seen 2 people who said this method worked for them compared to the dozens that tried with no luck.
the only way to have your xperia rooted is through the unlocking BL and flashing rooted kernel or rooted system.img at this time. I suppose in the future there will be more options of doing it, so maybe that will solve your problem of locked BL.
i don't know if there is still the testpoint method for the xps.. but if yes you could try that .. should work afaik.. and if not then just wait for another root method

I have done already, two actually, the CE1 Generic and the NL Generic(because I heard of the speed).
Before I flash them I got from Antutu 6580
When I flashed the CE1 lower to 6520
And with the NL 6460 and now is 6634
But still some of the apps that came with the phone are still there, seems like the only way to get rid of them is only rooting.
I can't wait to get a way to do it.
By the way does anybody knows of a North America firmware for the LT26i, I can not find one. I live in El Salvador and I want my phone with a firmware for Latin America or the States, main reason is Google Voice another is that if I want to buy something from the Google Play the prices appears in Euros €.

I use unlocked phone, but I guess you can go to sonymobile.com and use sony bootloader unlock to get a code for unlocking your bootloader, although since u have a branded phone you may need a code from your career. when you got the code use fastboot to unlock it. other than these, if you just want root, flash your phone with flashtool to any rom you like. you dont need any bl unlocking for this and you still get the updates from sony. you dont even need any code from career or sony. since xperia S is new there might not be any prerooted rom so be patient and let the xda developers play around to find a way.
Hello, the code desimlockage operator does not allow unlocking

Antutu ratings fluctuate hugely on their own, test three times in a row and you probably wont get the same result each time.
Use Quadrant as your standard
I think you should wait for another way of rooting
Hi All,
Recently got an xperia s, and to be honest been having a few issues with it, i.e memory probs connecting to pc, and yellow tint on screen.
Stupidly prior to checking everything as always I jumped and unlocked the BL, and installed a custom kernel and rom, XSX and K10 ICS.
I had also prior to this updated to ICS via sony. Problem is now I realised that it has the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen so prior to sending it back to sony I want to relock BL and install stock ICS again and stock kernel.
Please can someone show me a link to this I'm in UK and have a factory unlocked version, I have tried to search but I am confused to which one I need, I also cannot find any kernel.
Finally they are all FTF files and I need to be in Flashmode to use these, unfortunately for some reason my phone will not stay in flashmode green light for more than a few minutes and it just boots up so I dont want to start flashing only for it to stop in between and brick my phone any ideas?.
BTW I managed to install fastboot drivers in windows 8 I know some people had problems in windows 7 & 8, I found a solution if anyone needs
Thanks
Mav.
So simple ^^

From here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
And when it's done, just update your phone normally via SEUS (Sony Update Service)

I thought that you had to first have a stock kernel installed prior to relocking your BL otherwise it would brick your phone, I read it somewhere, I would prefer to have a stock kernel and stock firmware then relock the BL, then possibly put it through SEUS to make sure everything is right.
you dont need to relock the BL for yellow tint issue, the custom roms have nothing to do with it, ive sent my phone back twice unlocked bl and custom fw and its been fixed twice without question

Dont really want to risk sending away if BL is locked anarchyuk, although i know by right they should fix it.
Thanks

Dude!!! NO IT'S NOT ROOTED
P.s I've done it 5 times already and my firmware was rooted ( Stock) and on a custom kernel
By just relocking my BL and update it via SEUS!

But its not a UK stock, I've managed to use flashtool to install 6.1.a.0.453, but of course thats not officlally our yet so if i sent it in they would know at some point its been rooted to install this rom.
just cant find UK unrooted official 6.1.a.0.452 in FTF or ZIP/RAR format.
Ok just found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752864&highlight=6+1+a+0+452+generic+uk
http://www.multiupload.hk/Z97BXEH24E
its a uk generic [6.0.A.3.75]
I can flash this, then relock BL, then use SEUS to update to stock 6.1.A.4.52
Does that seem correct?, or will I have probs?
Also the file I would be using to relock BL is called X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf is this correct?
Thanks
Mav

Reflash the stock firmware then the bootloader lock. Also look in development section for Xperia s Relock. It is called that not the X10 one.
