No for any real development you will need a Linux distro to do it as Android is a version of Linux

You shouldn't need a new machine; install a linux distro on VirtualBox and go from there..

No, but you can load iOS 4.2.2 with no problem. I've gotten Windows XP to boot up as well as the OS from the Nintendo Gamecube.

Everyone knows the port is only up to iOS 3.1.

as meego is open source it is doable but will require lot of efforts.. you can also try to port webos if interested
Definitly not worth the effort

You really want to swap android for something Nokia failed to make popular and have now moved to wp7. The only reason to do this I can see is to know if it can be done.

I'm afraid, you're wrong. Ace's higher CPU clock speed doesn't meant it's better. N900 has Cortex-A8 CPU which is ARMv7 based processor (frequency range 600MHz-1GHz); we have ARMv6 based one. Also PowerVR SGX530 in N900 can achieve double framerate of Adreno 200.
btw. Isn't that wrong forum to ask that kind of question?

I wonder exactly the same
I would think it is possible (someone has ported it to a samsung device).
But I think you have to do lot of work befor you can use it. Rember the long way of cm7 or cm9.
https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/HardwareRequirements
Possibilities are there...
Someone can do a port from a build
Well I hope someone ports it.
Any Devs out there looking at this thread, please Port Boot to Gecko to our O1

Uhm, yes! We don't have ambient light sensor if I'm right, but maybe it's not very necessary since it's only recommended >_>
For the rest... 256MB (OK), armv6 cpu (OK), Adreno 200 or better (OK), Wifi and 3G (OK).
definitly possible
Well its always something new...

if we can't have jelly bean we can have this
all i need is something new and i won't sell my O1
but the very problem is.. : we don't have a developer (for now ) can port boot to gecko to our phones :silly:
Why port..when we can built it from source..
B2G can be easily compiled..the same way as we do android..
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
We just have to wait for the source probably.
...or is it out already?

we don't even have drivers
From what I read 2 months ago abt is that it is booting and tested on Samsung s2 and will be out and public by early 2013 or end of 2012.
The UI is clean and requirements are less so fingers crossed
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
So we can't have it now?
They put it on Nokia n9
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
would be wonderful if this were possible in our phones..

The source code I think is available. They even have a guide for building from source .
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mozilla/Boot_to_Gecko/B2G_build_prerequisites
There are no instructions for our phone. Only a developer can understand the guide and build it for our phone.
