So is there a way to delete those pesky contacts that are embedded in the 4g sim card verizon gives you? I just got my phone activated on thursday.
I have not found a way but go to you people tab and select you options and you can select if u want to use sum or Gmail or SD card l.

Next time you flash a rom and the first time you go into dialer/people app...choose not to add Sim Card Contacts.
I tried exporting the sim card contacts and everything to no avail. The above is the only thing I can think of.

You can clear data on People app...then uncheck import sim contacts when you go run people app...no need to change roms.

It still imports the Verizon SIM contacts even though I unchecked it!
Oh well, a thanks for your effort.
Open the people app, then click phonebook at the top next to the + and uncheck SIM. Won't delete them but will hide them. Works for me

While it's true that it hides them in the People tab, the Verizon #'s are still listed in the Phone tab! I wish there was a way to delete them from there. I don't need (or want) six Verizon numbers in my phone book!

Contacts to Sim
Hi,
You can only copy a single contact to the Sim at a time...
Open people
Select Contact
Press Menu
Press more
Copy to Sim is available there
There is no way to copy all your contacts to the sim in one go except by using an application from the android market called Contact2Sim (Search Contact To Sim)
thanks for the help......
i have just sat in the van for 30 mins and did figure it out myself....
but im sure many other people will have the same question...so i hope this will help some else

You can actually save the contacts back to the SIM... one by one. It is tedious. It takes time. And it is BORING!!!
I mean, we can import all the contacts from the SIM to either the phone or to Google in one go but not the other way around. What if I change SIM card and absolutly want my contacts on the new card too?
Hmm... Contact2SIM? will check it out.
Edit: I have tried Contact To Sim now and it works... almost. It really writes the contacts to the sim but it does some very weird stuff though... it doesn't tell the default People/Phone application that the contents on the SIM have changed so they don't show the changed data untill you reboot the phone...
It seems that the contents on the SIM only get read on the startup sequence of the phone, any changes after that to the SIM will have to be made from People to refelct the changes. If some other application changes the information it won't be updated in People or the Phone apps.

I don't think you can display the sim card contacts, just import them from the sim card to the phone. Contacts, Menu button, Import/Export

i know sgs II doesn't have this option and i find it such a let down. this was very handy for me.
Now that im on ICS and have the one thing i really wanted, zooming photos received without having to save them to sd card (then browse in gallery), im wondering for the next option that should be included in MMS.
There should be an option, (default or hacked in by a dev) to save the mms images received, to sd card, external or internal, AUTOMATICLY rather than having to save them thru options.
Just something i think about
Found "save mms" app in market. Doesn't auto save.
Edit: same developer has autosave mms. Works for saving and specify directory but thats all that works. Good enough for me

I know this is an old post...
I have autosave mms and it stopped working a few generations of android back. Really wish it would be updated by the developer, I'd even be willing to pay for it again. Don't think it will though since the developer won't respond to anyone and hasn't touched it since 2010. Amazing to me nobody has created a replacement.
hi.
I have some sms messages stored on my sim card. I would like to backup them by copying them to phone memory.
Android would only allow me to see these messages (Manage sim card messages) but won't allow me to import them.
Is it possible?
Thanks.
For that go to massage>press menu button>manage sim card massage>menu button>copy to device
That's it
Press thanks button if it helps

hi,
menu button inside "manage sim card messages" doesn't do anything.
Is there any app for that?
thanks
In my sms settings the manage sim messages loads them all up, then menu again is the option to copy all to device. Awesome, thanks!
hi,
This doesn't work, I still don't have any options when pressing menu button. Maybe I need another ROM for this? I use a JB 4.1 ROM based on CM10.
Some systems do not have "copy" menu, but "delete" only. So a general solution is still needed. Android 4.0.3 CMCC version.
Hello there, I bought my grandmother a galaxy s 3 yesterday. When I inserted the SIM card into it I found that some contacts were missing so, i took out the SIM card and the contacts were still in the phone although that I didn't import them. So I deleted them from the SIM card (since my grandmother SIM card is old and can't accommodate more than 130 contacts) and insert it into the old phone (nokia 7230) again to copy the remaining contacts. But when I inserted the SIM card back into the galaxy the contacts I moved them in the first place were gone!! Please help me..

do you still have the contacts stored on the Nokia? If so copy again, if not, you will have a challenge in recovering them. You could try some tool to restore the data on the S3 though.
Usually a good practice is to sync all contacts with your Google Account, that way you always have a backup!
Try RECUVA

The other one from Play might be Delete pro or something like .

Back up your contact with GMAIL @ Google Account. You will restore them automatically whenever you did a factory reset or switch phone without hastle.
