[REQ-maybe] Auto save MMS photos to storage - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that im on ICS and have the one thing i really wanted, zooming photos received without having to save them to sd card (then browse in gallery), im wondering for the next option that should be included in MMS.
There should be an option, (default or hacked in by a dev) to save the mms images received, to sd card, external or internal, AUTOMATICLY rather than having to save them thru options.
Just something i think about

Found "save mms" app in market. Doesn't auto save.
Edit: same developer has autosave mms. Works for saving and specify directory but thats all that works. Good enough for me

I know this is an old post...
I have autosave mms and it stopped working a few generations of android back. Really wish it would be updated by the developer, I'd even be willing to pay for it again. Don't think it will though since the developer won't respond to anyone and hasn't touched it since 2010. Amazing to me nobody has created a replacement.

[Q]

is there a camera app or gallery app which would allow me to save pics, vids, and mms pics to specific folders? instead of pics and vids to camera, and mms to gosms/downloads? lol i hate having to move everything around every cpl days
Don't know of one.......... there some apps that allow you to setup folders that way but you still have to shift........ but I cannot think of one Sorry

I could be wrong since I haven't used it in a while but I think Handsent allows you to save messages where you want them. I don't know of a gallery/camera app though.
Hmm, never thought about it, but all the Tasker users... can you make it so if a file goes to one folder, it's moved to another?
This probably would not help the OP too much, but it may.. and would be cool.

[Q] How to configure vibration/App install location

Hi, I think I'm just being obtuse now by not finding the answer to my 2 current issues. If somebody can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.
Problem 1: When managing apps, there is a button that either say "Move to Phone" or "Move to Media Area". What does either mean? There are some inconveniences that results from having an app in the media area. So I was wondering how many storage space I have on my "Phone" and how do I make app install there on default.
Problem 2: My phone, which is stock, doesn't seem to vibrate on email/text messages. And since my phone is on vibrate most of the day and I communicate mostly by text. You can see how it is a problem. Is there anyway around it?
Again, thank you in advance for the help!

Problem #1: your phone should automatically install apps to the phone. The media area is the phone's internal SD card. There's 3gb phone storage and 7gb "media area" or internal SD storage.
Problem #2: you need to go into the settings in your email and messaging apps to enable vibration when you get and email or text.

Thanks, problem 2 is solved! I'm coming over from iOS so I have this concept that text vibration should be somewhere inside overall settings area. Never considered text to be an "app" with its own setting. Boneheaded move on my part.
Problem 1 is still there. Some app seems to default to "media area" and I'm not sure why. I don't think my phone is full as I seem to be able to move those manually to the phone. For example, one app that constantly install to the media area is Mantano Reader. I would move the app to the phone but everytime there's an update it would go back to the media area and I was wondering if there's a way to defaulting it to the phone. I think it's completely arbitrary... Minecraft installs to the media area by default, Bible and Fruit Ninja installs to the phone.. Really puzzled by this.
Thanks for the help on Problem 2 though, really appreciate it!
I like reading these post sometimes, I never had neither of your problems and I'm stock.
#1. I did not do anything, but everything goes to SD Card.
#2. Again, I did not do anything, but upon getting e-mail, text, whatever.........phone virbrates once and the green notification lights comes on? (Me and my daughter got into it about her iPhone, no light or notification)
Thanks to braindead for the tip, maybe I will look back and see.............
I'm stock too(until somebody release a stable ICS rom). And I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Just for fun, I installed mantano reader to see what happens. It went directly to media area, and I have everything set to go to phone. So it's not just you.
I also noticed I have a couple other apps that have defaulted to the media area. I think some apps are just set up to do that by the developer, and my guess is that it has something to do with the amount of storage space the app requires (my two apps were Sims 3 and mear, both of which can take up some major storage space).
I don't know how to force the app somewhere else without being rooted. If you're rooted, you can use ROM toolbox to choose the default install location, or some other app2SD solution I'm sure.

Aww, that's unfortunate. Thanks all around!

[Q] SIM card contacts?

So is there a way to delete those pesky contacts that are embedded in the 4g sim card verizon gives you? I just got my phone activated on thursday.

Next time you flash a rom and the first time you go into dialer/people app...choose not to add Sim Card Contacts.
I tried exporting the sim card contacts and everything to no avail. The above is the only thing I can think of.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW
You can clear data on People app...then uncheck import sim contacts when you go run people app...no need to change roms.

It still imports the Verizon SIM contacts even though I unchecked it!
Oh well, a thanks for your effort.
Open the people app, then click phonebook at the top next to the + and uncheck SIM. Won't delete them but will hide them. Works for me

While it's true that it hides them in the People tab, the Verizon #'s are still listed in the Phone tab! I wish there was a way to delete them from there. I don't need (or want) six Verizon numbers in my phone book!

File explorer on I9300

I am having this problem, whereby I downloaded a photo from a MMS sent to me, and it was stored in my Download folder in my Internal Storage. I used ES File Explorer and move the file (not copy) to my external SD card photo album, however the photo will not appear in my gallery under the same album. When I actually opened up my SD card using my computer, I actually found that the photo which I moved isn't in the album which I moved it to, and neither is it in the Download folder in my internal storage. Anyone able to help me on this?
I am using CM9 Stable, on Siyah kernel 1.5.2.

Kindly provide a more constructive answer. You know MMS isn't free and yes I can still see the file in exactly the same folder that I moved it to on my ES File Explorer, but just not in my gallery as well as PC.

That probably was the most constructive answer as everything else is guesswork and involves you searching the entire phone for the MMS in the hope that its not deleted .
Or carrying out the same task again as a test to see where the file goes to .

How about, read what I wrote in my question. I said, I saved the mms attachment and it is AUTOMATICALLY saved in Download folder in Internal Storage. How the heck will the MMS be deleted? I never mention anything about the MMS being deleted. I said, I moved the picture that I downloaded from the MMS from the Download folder in Internal Storage to my SD card, which is where I stored all my pictures. However the picture is nowhere to be found in my Gallery or when I searched for the picture in the folder in my SD card, however I can still see it in the same folder in the SD card when I go to my File Explorer. I can always re-download the photo from the MMS again because MMS isn't deleted unless I delete it myself, but I am just asking if anyone here has this issue too when moving files using file explorer on the phone itself. Kindly get your facts right before jumping to any conclusion. If you are not here to help, you can ignore the thread and don't act like a pro when you are not. MMS deleted? When I read that I nearly burst out laughing because MMS is stored in your inbox, and you can choose to download the attached file, it is the downloaded attached file that I am concerned about. To add on, the problem is solved after I reboot my phone but I find it stupid to reboot phone whenever i organise my picture files using file explorer.

Hey thanks man. Given you the Thanks that you really deserve.
Lets keep discussion on topic and polite, and avoid senseless arguments with each other.
This should work if the file is deleted.

Messaging App Glitch?

So on my old DNA before i exchanged due to SIM card problems i was able to change my messaging background with pictures from my gallery, on my new device i no longer have that option, and I'm so bummed cause the htc ones suck! I had an awesome space background on mine! Anyways, anyone else had this type of problem? Anyone have a solution?
It has something to do with the gallary app. Your not alone, but the option will come back sooner or later.

With a file manager, create a folder on the root of your virtual sdcard called ".data" the "." is important. (you may need to show hidden files in the settings of the file manager app to be able to creat files with a ".") Inside that folder create another folder called "message"
Done!
Hit the thanks Button!
