Camera and Video recording ROM? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm off to a concert tomorrow night, and will probably wish to take endless amounts of pictures and videos.
I'm currently using Westcrips Resurrection Remix, but the battery performance seems poor and the camera quality doesn't seem up to scratch. Is it just me?
I was wondering would I be better off flashing the latest Stock version of ICS so I get the 8.0mp quality, or are there other ROMS you guys would recommend which would allow me to record/take pictures for a good few hours?
Or as another alternative, are there any ways I can improve my camera quality in both photos and video recording?
Sorry for babbling on.
Thanks in advance!

My recommendation would be to leave the phone at home and enjoy the concert.
If you insist on taking it, set the screen brightness to minimum and use a camera app which allows fixed focus (such as lgcamera/lgcamcorder).

Thanks for the app recommendation. The instant capture is a huge positive!

Low battery percentage and camera

Hi! I'm out of home and got into the issue where my battery drops below 15% After that, it won't take any photo.
In my opinion, this is a fairly big amount of juice, enough to keep me happy taking some extra snapshots.
Does somebody know how to modify the low battery percentage or how to make my camera work when it's below 15%?
Thanks a lot!

Use a different camera app. All third party apps do not have this restriction.
Alright! I did take some snapshots with Camera ZOOM FX, but I got too used to the default Camera app.
Is there a better option?
And for recording video?

You can install SGS Tools, click update systems apps, and click camera hack. Sadly, this require root.

Official Camera Settings Thread

Ok guys we've all read the reviews hyping the camera as one of the best on a phone available right now. There are a plethora of settings within the camera app, whether its exposure value, ISO, effects, etc.
Lets start with some of the settings you guys are using to provide the best quality pics
BTW, I'm no photographer, by any means, just trying to get the most out of this camera. Have at it.....
Anti shake and blink detection really improved my photos
grr.. just waiting for instagram to build a freaking app for the android.
i always leave iso at 100 though. auto iso is bleh.

Yeah Iso 100 looks a lot better
Eliminate delay
My camera has about a .5 second delay between focusing and taking the picture. Can that be eliminated?
shortcuts.. but I don't know why it deletes the shortcuts when I exit the camera app.
Second that .5 delay question, damn near impossible to get action shots.
Vignette seams to work without a delay.
Anyone know how to save your new edited shortcuts? Exiting the Camera app on task manager results in shortcuts being removed/deleted and have to put it on the screen again and again.
It automatically saves for me

I pretty much use all auto, no flash unless i HAVE to, and keep photo rez at the 2.4 wide. So far, so very very good.
ISO at 100. No auto anything except occasional auto focus. I've found the flash on this is far better than my point and shoot. It's a more natural white, and much brighter. Barely touches battery, too.
In fact, try turning on a flashlight app. I can go 3 minutes or more on 1% of my battery. 10% for half an hour isn't bad.
Can you guys aware me on these picture resolutions?
It seems like the 2.4M takes just as good pictures as the 8M does?

If you use GTG's NoNamed rom it will auto-save the camera shortcuts all the time.
(even if you force close the camera app using taskmanager).
If you want everything to work properly, why settle for anything less than the NoNamed rom......

Not going to lie, going from the Galaxy S (Captivate) to this phone, they removed the "Add Me" feature which was pretty epic, but I guess the rest of the settings make up for it. Fyi, Add Me allowed for people to be duplicated among a picture extremely easily, but yeah, that's gone now...

Even lesser will produce as good pictures as the max one. Until you print them out/enlarge them.
Quality-wise, its all about the lenses and the sensor, not max megapixage a camera has, hence why most cells will never compare to POS or better cameras.
So, if you plan on viewing/printing pics on large mediums/high quality/large screen rez, you don't really need a large base image rez.
I like to use spot meter and the exposure compensation....
I usually ttake photos of items up close....

Best Camera App for Atrix?

Which app do you use for regular photo taking? I've tried MIUI Camera App, Stock Camera App & Camera Zoom FX. I was happy with Camera Zoom FX at first but then I found some bugs! Like it doesn't stop the shutter sound. Besides, when I took some pictures today with the auto focus many times the eyes become horrible! (just like ghost's eye! terrible! Can't be repaired with Red Eye Fix)
So what do you reccomend? Should I stick with the stock Camera App?
Thanks!
Stock app works great for me.
Add Paper Camera (at 10 cents) for cool effects and I am good.
A lot of ATRIX users like the DROID 3 camera app in some of the modded ROMS.

I use Camera360 as daily use. Light HDR is the best setting for normal daylight shootings.

Thanks for the suggestion! Installing Camera360.
Can someone upload the Droid3Camera.apk?
I've tried stock, MIUI, Zoom, and CM7. CM7 is my fav followed by stock. Stock has a panoramic camera which is nice.
I got the best results with droid3 camera app.

Best Camera App?

I'm really disappointed in the Samsung camera as far as Macro goes, it's really horrible. I'm not a huge camera person but come on! Not only that, it seems every picture has a orangeish tint to it. Not liking this. Can someone maybe give me some pointers possibly? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Picked up this one last week for .10 during the app sale. Great camera app with a lot of useful features.

+1 on camera zoom fx, also got it during the $.10 deal and love it

Thanks guys!
+1 on camera zoom fx...been using it for about 2 weeks now and it's awesome
+1 to Zoom as well. Lets you bind volume keys to anything and saved me having to flash a custom rom JUST to get the shutter key mod.
IMO, all the camera app is frustrating to use. none of the app is comparable to even the stock iphone camera app.
when you're holding the shutter to focus, once its already focus, you release to take the pic, but why does it need to refocus again?!
How is the video recording on camera zoom fx? I want a camera app that has good video recording. Thanks in advance.
Camera zoom fx does not support video recording. I still have to use the stock for video recording.
I use Camera Zoom FX for regular pics and ProCapture for panoramas.
I use vignette. Very happy with it.

How to have better camera on Oreo ROMs

TIP OF THE DAY
INTRO
If you don't like the camera's quality it is because the google camera app is not the best for the grand prime, actually this is the problem of all ROMs based on the pure android, isn't the image clear enough? does the image looks blurred?
I've been comparing my camera on android oreo with my another phone (both are the same model), one has the stock Android and the other one has the pure Android 8 and the differences are huge, how to work around this problem?
Well... I have researched and talked to devs about this and it turns out that the drivers of the camera are the same as the stock firmware, but the only thing what changes the quality is how the image is processed by the camera application.
So who's the one to blame? The camera app.
What is the solution?
The real solution is to use ROMs based on the stock ROM, i.e. touchwiz, but I have noticed that many people still prefer using the pure Android so this solution is not possible. There is still another way.
CyanogenMod camera and fine adjustments
That's what you read, with the 'old' Cyanogen camera app you can have better pictures.
First, install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maartendekkers.cyanapps
It's called Cyan Apps if the link isn't working.
and then...
Choose 'camera' on CM's 13 sectionNote: Don't choose the CM 14.1 version because it crashes when you start recording a video or change to frontal camera.
Download and install it.
Adjustments
Open the camera and go to settings, drag down until the last options and turn off the Denoise option, then go to the sharpness and set to the level 0 (or do whatever you think is better) and go to the picture quality and set to it 100%. The rest of the options you can leave in the default level.
Optional
You can, alternatively, with root access make this a system application and delete the other one just to have only one default camera for your ROM.
In the images attached below I want you to pay attention in the sharpness of the image and the quality, I hope you don't mind if I'm a bad photographer.
UPDATE: I know the link is broken and the reason is because the Cyan Apps has been removed from playstore, I don't know why, but you know now the secret to make the image good-looking, you have to turn off denoise option which comes by default turned on in all Samsung cameras. Find an APP that can make this for you. Best Regards
Holt sh*t dude.. it fixed my camera quality. Now the photo quality can be compared to stock cam.
Although now the photos are a little noisy and kinda looks little bad on low light..but it's really good on places with light.

Low light is always an enemy for the camera
This WILL also work on Snap-based (that's the camera included on most AOSP ROMs) cameras.
