I have a Nook Tablet 8GB and I want to install CM7 to make it more functional as a tablet. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to install this from a straight-from-the-box Nook Tablet?

You'll have to include a little more information. Do you want CM7 to be installed internally or do you want it to run from an SD card?

If it runs from an SD will the stock software be replaced? If so, I'd rather just do it internally.

Nope, if you run from the SD card, your stock ROM will not be touched.

Follow the SD VERSION IMAGE directions in this post. It's very simple.

I am using CM7 from SD and it works great, but be careful and read all you can before you do whatever you decided. I tried to use the internal version and I messed it up. That is why am running from SD. Still working on fixing my partitions and such.

I can't get my NT to boot anything from the SD card. I'm trying to use albertwertz's Root SD card software but I can't get it to boot it at all. It will either send me to the factory reset screen or boot normally. I followed his instructions. Any ideas?

Try booting with the USB cable in. For some unknown reason, many people can't boot from SD unless they're plugged into power.

I tried that method. This is a fairly new Nook (about 2 weeks old). Could the software or something have been changed so that it can no longer boot from the SD card?

Is Albert's root card the only bootable card you've tried? Or have you tried the CM7 card and it won't work either?

I can't make the CM7 SD bootable card because I only have a 2GB SD. I've been aiming for an internal install now, but I do need to be rooted, right?

Not necessarily. You can try to make a bootable CWM SD card and just flash CM7 internally from there. It's worth a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446987

I put the link in the post above. What brand and class of SD card are you using by the way?

I am using a Samsung card. I'm unsure of the class as it came with my cell phone (after checking it is a class 10 card going by the write speeds I've been seeing). I'm not a large consumer of micro SD cards so I don't have a collection. I don't see why the NT couldn't have an SD card reader. I have plenty of those lol.
go to wally world get a sandisk class 4 card you can get 8 gigs or so for around 10 bucks.. cheaper online but wally is faster if your in a hurry. that card is going to give you issues more then likely
Why would a lower class card be better?

It turns out that sometimes random read/write speeds are actually higher on some lower class cards. Here's some reading material if you're interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
But honestly, I've found SanDisk to be a very reliable brand. I have a 32GB SanDisk Class 4 that I use just for my NT and am really pleased with it.

May be trying this check list:
Mount SD card
Format SD cad>Mount SD Card
Format SD cad in the other phone or PC>Mount SD Card
Try Stability Test V2.3 in the other phone
Try SD Tools V2.4 in the other phone
Dust inside the SD socket?
Have you tried formatting in your phone?
Could be you got unlucky, and got a faulty card reader in your phone. But also possible the sd card just needs to be formatted.
What kind of sd card is it? And is it formatted already?

It won´t Mount to the Phone, when I hit "Mount" it would keep on saying Mounting but it doesn´t... When I connect the phone (with the SDCard in it) to the PC the SDCard is not shown. However, it does if its in my friend´s phone.....
Im thinking it could be that my phone is rooted, unlike my friend´s. So I think I could take it back to its original ROM and try, if it doesnt work then take it to warranty cuz the SDcards work just fine in my other friend phone (which is the same one as mine, bought it together, same day, same company).

Yes it is formatted, did it twice in my friend´s phone. I dont think its an sd card problem, its more like a feature/option thing, which I dont get to see any solution but to flash back to stock rom the phone.

Right; I mentioned the card as a POSSIBILITY, but that another possibility is that the card READER in your phone is jacked up. Root should NOT have any affect in your phone's ability to read an sd card. I have root on my phone, and it reads my class 10 16gb sd card just fine. But it may be worth it to try flashing back to stock to see if that helps. Otherwise, your only option left after that is warranty.

The thing is that it can read a 4GB micro sd that my other friend was using before, thats why I think it has something to do with my phone not reading that specific type of SDCard for some reason. I think of going back to stock because Root is the only difference between mine and my friends phone/MicroSDCard.
I´ll let you guys know my results in case someone else finds the same problem.

Sounds like it is having difficulty reading SDHC (High Capacity) cards. I think standard SD cards can get up to 8GB, so I'm betting your 4GB card is a standard micro SD, and not an SDHC. SDHC was created for 16 and 32GB.

Ok discard software related problem:
1- Flash original ROM-Kernel and try,
2- Then discard hardware related problem(in the phone and the SD card side)
Phone side;apply an electronic spray cleaner in the socket an SD Card. Use an anti-static wrist strap
3- SD card side; use software tools i recommended before in several SD cards.
Just to let u guys know, it was a hardware problem. I had to get a new phone.

Why do you want to re-name the SD card?
Unmount and remount the SD card, perhaps? Or format via recovery, if rooted?
Is it SDXC or SDHC?
SDXC might cause problems sometimes - exFAT, FAT32 and all that jazz.

Thanks for confirming that 64GB works with L9.
Few years back I came across a MicroMax device which is lower end simple phone without camera, but as per CATALOGUE and MANUAL, it was said it will support 2GB Memory card only. Once just to see if it works, I inserted 8GB Memory Card and voila!! It supported it without any issue. Only problem was it took longer time to start as hell lot of time was taken in reading card.
This explains why they limit the use of higher capacity memory cards, "for performance issue".
it says in the manual of the phone up to 32gb so in turn some models may not support it or may support it and give issues later down the road as my droid bionic and and a few other phones i had samsung was one of em the sd card port went disfunctional and at the end of the phones life the sd card slot was unusable what so ever any card i put in would not read so be very careful of that cause it can and cant mess up the port but that is from user expierence
Can anyone confirm using a 64 GB memory card ? Also, anyone able to install Apps to SD card ? I followed instructions and did on ADK setinstalllocation 2 but in a application called app2sd it says i might be unable to install to SD as it is emulated and shown only as a folder and not a separate device.
A side note: you MUST insert a blank card EXCEPT it's formatted in FAT32.

Correct. Lots of Android devices don't like NTFS formated microsd cards at higher capacity.

oops. Thanks for correcting me.
Maybe it was just me, but using a 64gb card caused me to constantly run into an error where the card became Read-Only. Tried so many different formattings and permission fixes to correct it but nothing worked. Popped in my old 16gb card and it worked like a charm.

I worked with SD 64 GB SD card, and work very good, but i patitioned in in 2 partitions, one vfat and 2nd in ext4, the second partition have some times troubles, then i errase this and only have vfat.
I have a 1 gig sd card I know 1 gig lol. It was in a company phone I got anyways. it worked fine for past 13 months but now i cant mount it. phone does not recognize it and recovery comes up failed when I try to access it through it. you think its a bad sd card or bad sd card reader in phone? I do not have another phone to test the card in. If/When I buy a new card and it still does not recognize it how do I go about loading a rom? As of right now know back ups and did a System refresh stuck on start up screen on phone . All of this started after I did the sdcard mod on one of the roms beans I think.
Thanks

If you are talking about the SD card swap mod..... It would require much much more room than 1gig. That might be your entire problem.
Can you take the SD card to a computer via a card reader (you might need an adapter to make it full size) and format it? If you can just load up beans19 on it and flash it. It should work if that's the issue. just don't try the SD swap with less than an 8gig SD card next time

I am having some very weird issues with my SD card. I had a Samsung 64GB SD card that was behaving normally. I was actually able to see items in the SD card while in recovery. However, it was not allowing me to install any ROMs from it (they would just immediately fail). After that, it would not longer mount in Recovery. It would still show up on the computer when using MTP, but something happened and it got corrupted. I tried everything to bring it back to life, but nothing I found worked.
I then bought another 64GB SD card, this time a SanDisk. It too can be seen through MTP, but the SD card won't allow me to mount it in Recovery at all.
The only way I can flash ROMs is by using the internal SD card. That doesn't bother me, but I wonder if why this is happening. I suspect it has something to do with being a 64GB card...
Any help would be much appreciated!
If you have the SD card formatted exfat and you are using clockworkmod for recovery that would be the reason.
CWM recovery won't read exfat.

Had a feeling it might be that. I'll switch to another and give it a shot.
Any reason why it wouldn't mount while in a custom ROM? I'm using LiquidSmooth right now and it won't allow the SD card to mount. Just doesn't see it for whatever reason...

There are a lot of kernels out there, find one that is compatible with exfat and you will solve that problem.
I have had good luck with faux kernel myself.

Your problem is not kernel or ROM based, but as noted, it is Custom Recovery Based. Due to legal resons, they cannot support ExFAT and I have tried NTFS. Use EASEUS PARTITION MANAGER TO FORMAT INTO FAT32 THEN RECOVERY WILL RECOGNIZE 64GB SANDISK SD CARD!!!! PLEASE HIT THANKS IF I SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM
