I've got a couple of micro usb car chargers I bought to charge my old samsungs.... but they dont charge my X10.
I've shorted pins 2 and 3 on one of them( d+ and d-) as per this thread:

but it's still not charging my x10, if anything the battery is being drained quicker when plugged in to the car charger
the label states the output on the charger i have shorted is 4.2- 10v @ 600mA, 750mA max
is there something I am missing?
edit: I've read some of the charging threads and discovered the li-poly battery protection circuit is stopping my cheap chargers from working, so it looks like I need to buy genuine sony (Sony an300), I wonder if this is deliberate on sony's part? I thought the whole point of standardising phone chargers to micro usb - is so that they don't go to waste every time you buy a new phone?
I found that using the original micro USB cable (Or a good quality one) and one of these -> Car USB Outlet works better than buying an adapter with the cable already attached.
Such was the case with my X1 and X2 as well.
These newer gen ones are around 700mA instead of 500mA.

I worked on my old X1 and with a micro usb cable it works on my X10 too.
I previously had a different device. It got very hot when I was on the phone and using satnav. This one is great. Its not missed a beat.
I think this is the cable, Quickcode 138344. Please check before purchasing though!

I use my Motorola car charger and it works fine when my phone has some juice left in the battery. the first time I tried to use it the battery was completely flat and the charger would not work well, though

I bought that one, and it doesn't work with my X10. I have tried other USB devices, and the charger works.
After contacting the vendor (e-cell) they are going to send me another unit, free of charges. But I am not sure if it will work, either.

I bought one the other week to try, it doesn't work with the standard SE cable.
The light on the actual plug comes on but nothing indicates it being plugged in on the phone itself.
I've found no 3rd party in-car chargers work with the X10 and after reading all the problems people had here, I just went and bought an official Sony Ericsson one of eBay for £15. Works perfectly
I think you have to have one that has an output of exactly 700 mAp.
I've tested with higher and lower amperage and nothing worked.
I grabbed an SE AN300 off Play.com and it works with no issue. Looks like I made a trouble-free choice.
I realized earlier today that the ac adapter for the GTablet is the exact same model as the ac adaptor is for my kodak picture frame. the model number is MPA-630. I did test the one from my frame and yes it does work. If having the word kodak on the charger doesn't not bother you and you want to get it not directly from china you can pick up a replacement ac adaptor for the kodak digital picture frame SV811 or just search for the ac adaptor model number in ebay or google it.

The current LG portable DVD players (DP581 etc) have similar power requirements and their mains power adaptor fits the g-tablet perfectly.
The LG portable DVD players also ship with car power socket cables, with the correct plug for our tablets. This looks like a safe bet for your in-car power requirements.

I just received mine today from China after purchasing it off of eBay two weeks ago. It is identical to the charger that came with the gTab. The only word of caution is that mine came with one of the plug prongs bent like a "greater than" sign. I used a pair of pliers to straighten it before use.
just found some iGo chargers that charge my Tab now (also works on my laptop). Picking them up at a great price for us

It's the full charger with a tip included that fits the GTab
Just go to radio shack and pick up either AC adapter or auto adapter with a 12V 2A output capability. Most of them come with a variety of tips so they can be used on the G tab as well as other devices.
Can someone post a link for the correct LG charger? I could only find the UK model. Thanks.
I just wanted to let people know that Scosche just released a new dual 2.4A car charger. This is not a car charger that splits 2.4A between two ports, but one that has full 2.4A per port. You can charge tablets and phones at the same time. What I love about this charger, is that it sits flush in the car. No stick protruding out.
I used to have their older model, the 2.1A dual car charger USBC202M. I purchased it in May. When I saw that they had this one available on their site, I asked a representative through chat if I could exchange my USBC202M for the USBC242M one. He said sure and gave me the info on how to do the exchange. I only paid the shipping to them and got a brand new item. I did not send the original box or anything. Great customer service!
I will try this later on. I have a dedicated USB charge only cable so I will not run into any of the charging issues that some people might have using a data/charge cable.
The USBC202M and USBC242M are listed as the same price on SCOSCHE's website. The USBC242M is not up on Amazon yet, which is where I purchased the original charger.

It's like any other USB cable, you just plug it in to a USB port. It allows AC charging regardless if you plug it into an AC adapter or a USB port on your PC. This will not allow any data when used in a PC.

Just look at your Note 3's USB 3.0 port on the phone. See that one slot is bigger. Thats where you plug the USB 2.0 cable into. It will work just fine.

Yeah. I had the original USBC202M that you see on Amazon. I paid that back in May. I contacted Scosche through chat on their website (took about 30 min before someone was even available) and asked if I could just swap it with the newer model since they were selling it for the same price. He just needed the receipt (which showed my cost of $16) when I send my original one. It was done as a warranty exchange since it was within a year.
I know 2.4A is more than enough but this is great if you also wanted to charge a tablet as well. Or if people were running kernels that allowed more than 1.8A charging.
Here's a much cheaper Anker dual 2.4A that I was looking at but hate how large it is. The price is soooo nice too. $11.99

Anker makes quality products. The price is great but I was really looking for a flush look when installed in my car. Most of my interior is black and this is a bright pearl white. Is there an advantage of a stick design as opposed to a flush?

Yes, looks aside the compact version is going to run much hotter if both outlets are used at capacity.

Yeah I had totally missed that until I saw this thread. After posting the question I looked at the port and saw that it is a two in one port. Just the other day I was bummed that I forgot the N3 charging cable at home. I spent all day reserving battery when I had my S4 cable in my bag the whole time. Doh!
I am getting one of these. So basically this is overkill right? Since 1.8a is max? Does the charge only cable benefit more in any way than a charge/data cable or are the charging amps the same?

The cables are designed for full charge (just like being plugged into an AC charger) but in the car. I can charge my Note 3 and Tablet both with 1800mA each. The cables are straight 6FT heavy cables which are hard to break, and give you lots of room to use the phone or tablet while it is plugged in.
Just like having AC power in the car/truck with fast charge times
The difference between wall charging and usb charging, is that the wall charger ties the two usb data pins together. Phones detect that and charge slower on usb to protect computer ports from high current drain. Good car chargers solder together the two data pins to cheat the phone into thinking that is connected into a wall charger and thus charge the fastest possible.
You could find usb cables that internally connect the data pins, however that cable won't allow you to send data.
This applies to most usb charged devices, like android, iphone, ipad, etc.

The Scosche does not work with the galaxy s5; the anker does but is larger physically.
I found my dual micro high current car charger on boxwave. It was cheap, and works great. No problems at all. The phone shouldnt pull more power then it needs. If so id check with tech services.

Don't worry. If the charger is required more power than is able to provIde it will just cut to the top.
Output of that plug states 10v 12w
Official note 3 charger is 5.3v 2amp I cant see how this could be good for your phone/battery.

Anyway, I've finally bought the Anker 24W, which is compatible with the Galaxy S5, so there are much higher probability to be compatible with newer devices like Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy note 4, etc.

Obviously this is a mistake, it's referring to input voltage.

Note that some car chargers allow 12-24V because you can use also trucks and vans for charging. Doesn't seem the case for Scosche.

I hooked up the tab to the tv, cranked up netflix and nothing. I plugged in the power adapter and got a picture. So needs charger to plugged in to work. I wasn't real keen on the output, but was only testing for connectivity. Might come back and edit after I have chance to adjust settings.
Today, I plugged the cable into the second hdmi port on my tv and it does mirror the tab display. Good response time too.
The charger is necessary but it does not charge the Tab. Left it plugged in and battery was down to 38% before i noticed.
Maybe a hardware error? Because under features it's described that it will charge your device...

Probably not a hardware error. I'm on my 3rd dongle that's supposed to charge your tablet while using connected devices. Everything works except for charging the tablet. Have a red X on the charging symbol while the battery continues to drain. It does charge the tablet while it's off. I have a power hungry Tab Pro 12.2 that has trouble maintaining a charge while playing a couple games with the stock 2 amp charger. I'm beginning to think that none of the HDMI dongles out there are capable of delivering the current necessary to run the larger tablets.
Ah, I see. It's because not enough power through the micro usb. You need 2A but this adapter's only delivering 1A.

I have a ton of usb chargers gathered over the years. Largest i have is only 5.1 volts. Tab has a large output. Wonder if other devices could be damaged using it or is output regulated by draw of whatever it is attached to? At any rate, i don't think any of the dongles or otg cables have a power source other than what is supplied by the tabs adapter. So are you thinking it is an issue with the pin configuration on the adapter? It is a 11 pin connector. Sure wish there was 1 standard for everyone instead of everyone having their own.

It's not limitated by the pins, there are just for more or less possibilities for an interchange (at least a salesman told me that). It's limited by the inside electronical components. Maybe anybody out there to explain it better or correct my words?
If I remember correctly (it's been a couple years since I tested it), my S3 required the Samsung charger + Samsung wire hooked up to the HDMI (I have the Samsung HDMI adapter) to charge the device while mirroring the screen. I tried it with a more powerful power adapter (2.1 amps vs Samsung 1.x amps) and generic wire but the phone would lose power over time. I could even charge the phone while mirroring if I used a generic Samsung wall charger and Samsung cord that was listed as 0.8 amps.
I bought the official Samsung one a few weeks ago and it is working fine, it also charges the device while using it but you have to connect a charger to the MHL-HDMI adapter.
Sadly I recently flashed CM11 on my TabPRO 10.1 and now the adapter doesn't work anymore. I get picture but no sound Was so happy about getting CM11 official on my device, but this feature is something I can't live without so I'm going to have to hop back to stockbased

Hey everyone, so just reading all the comments regarding the HDMI adapter not charging your tab while it is plugged in with the charger, I have also had issues with it and also with my Note2 and the Samsung Smart Dock I use with it. But I did however manage to find the solution to why it would not charge while on the HDMI dock that is connected to my T.V. It seams that if you plug either the Smart Dock or even the HDMI connectors to the HDMI cable first then plug in the charger it will show its charging but will eventually lose charge while outputting an HDMI output, instead, you need to first plug in the charger cable into your HDMI adapter, then plug it into your phone or tablet and finally plug in the HDMI cable into the adapter, I have found this to be the way to keep my phone and tablet charging while also having the HDMI output connected to my T.V..

Note: I tested PC mode with a USB Type-C to HDMI cable I bought on Amazon. Because the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro support USB 3.1 it’s technically possible that you can screen share to a monitor and charge the device at the same time. I asked Anker if a powered USB hub with HDMI support like this would work, but they said it depends on wiring and whether a hub has been designed to communicate with the Mate 10 or not. I also asked Huawei for clarification, and they have vowed to get back to me on the specifics of what to look out for in a compatible hub. I’ll update the review as more information comes in. Hi Pascal... I already tried the desktop mode. Technically any type-c to hdmi adapter should work. I'm using this: https://www.incipio.com/chargers/usb-c/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter.html ... and I added an HDMI to VGA cable adapter because there's a VGA cabled monitor at home that's not in use.
My current setup:
** Mate 10
** Incipio 3-port AV adapter
++ Logitech 2 in 1 wireless combo (keyboard and mouse using 1 usb dongle) attached to the 3-port adapter
++ Charger attached to the type-c port
** HDMI to VGA adapter
** monitor
Works without any issues except that the charger cannot push enough power to actually charge the phone. It still drops so probably from 80% you have a good 2 hours average of desktop mode time to perform stuff. I am thinking of getting a DELL type-c to hdmi adapter (just a simple hdmi adapter no extra ports) for playing games.

same concern with the incipio that I'm currently using.
From what I see, it will just drain the battery however we use it. Probably faster if we use the same adapter as Pascal's find. If I have the chance I will test Huawei's adapters (they have a different brand of adapter here in the Philippines) - I can try and borrow: see if it CAN push the power enough to charge the phone. But I'm already assuming that it won't.
Given the fact that the type-c port provides 100% of what it's supposed to run on desktop mode, powering the adapter.. powering whatever usb device is plugged in, that power requirement is the one that needs to be addressed.
But overall not bad for a phone especially when you can still use the phone while working on desktop mode. We can't do work on the phone of course but just enough to get a few things done with a screen and keyboard/mouse combo...

probably if we use an adapter with a type-c slot going to the type-c port of the hdmi/type-c adapter....
I was looking at the Tronsmart multiport charger I think. It has a type-c port so you can use a type-c to type-c cable... BUT it only pushes out as fast charge on the mate 9... so of course that's also a fast charge on the mate 10... BUT again, that's if we plug the phone directly to the charger... would that be a different case if we plug it to the hdmi adapter? I'm actually planning to buy it.. just so I have a multiport adapter especially when out and about. This one says Power Delivery.. probably I'll grab this thing by end of the month and the type-c end to end cable...

Started around 68% now I'm at 74%. So I guess that should be the solution. Just grab a PD (power delivery) capable charger. The one from Tronsmart should work without issues as well.

Hi, I'm using a mate 10 and I've just bought a Baseus O HUB Type-C multi-function converter Adapter (HDMI + Type-c charging port + USB3.0). Can't seems to get it to work (PC mode or mirror) when connected to HDMI (tried on Panasonic LED TV & Toshiba projector).
Wireless mouse and keyboard working and phone is charging when I've plug in the charger to the hub. Is there any setting that I've missed?
Regarding Desktop mode: I bought an adapter and successfully connected my mate 10 to an HD TV, but the resolution is low, does it depend on the TV, the cable, the adapter or there is a way to set the desktop mode resolution? I haven't found it ...

Phone shows FAST CHARGING instead of just charging...

Started around 68% now I'm at 74%. So I guess that should be the solution. Just grab a PD (power delivery) capable charger. The one from Tronsmart should work without issues as well.

so standard Mate 10 Pro charger (which says fast charging when plugged into phone) doesnt fast charge the phone when connected to the USB Hub. But youre saying if i buy this Anker charger my phone will fast charge when connected to a USB hub?
What is the exact spec of that Anker charger that makes it different to the Huawei charger in the box? Sorry for confusion, thanks in advance.

It has Power Delivery - which powers most usb-c devices nowadays especially Macs and other Google devices if I got that correct.
The description has this:
USB Type-C, Premium 5-Port 60W USB Wall Charger with Power Delivery for Apple MacBook, Nexus 5X / 6P and PowerIQ for iPhone, iPad, Samsung & More
The stock charger will definitely work without problems IF DIRECTLY attached to the phone but this time we have an external device - the multi-port hdmi/type-c/usb adapter. Yes it has a type-c port included and you can attach the stock charger but from my experience especially with the Incipio adapter, it requires more "push" because the stock charger just slows down the drain when using desktop mode. It does not increase the phone's battery juice while in use.

hi, thanks for your detailed reply. the edit with the wattage is especially useful. one last question. Does the Anker charger "fast-charge" the huawei mate 10 pro when connected directly? or just standard usb charging?
If yes, i will replace my huawei official charger with this anker one. handy that it has some usb ports as well so i can charge my bicycle lights overnight etc as well

that's one of the things I actually was surprised with and didn't really expect...really good news for us because it does!! The phone registers FAST CHARGING even if I have "everything" connected for desktop mode.
* phone + incipio type-c hdmi usb combo
* incipio + hdmi-vga converter
* vga converter + vga led monitor
* Anker multi-port with type-c power delivery + anker type-c to type-c cord ..... connected to the incipio
** and a recent addition: since the incipio only has 1 regular USB port, I bought a 4-port usb hub... connected it to the incipio so that basically splits 1 into 4 usb ports... I attached my wireless keyboard/mouse combo and my Western Digital 1 Terabyte external HDD...... NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.... haha!.. phone still chargers UP with fast charging indication...
Now I guess I have a full working desktop system with the mate 10

Just an FYI to others, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro has 3 different charging modes. One is USB Charging, very very slow. One is Fast charging, like regular charging i guess. SuperCharging is really really fast. This Anker charger only fast charges my device.
I cant get SuperCharge unless I use the Huawei official charger or the Huawei AP09S PowerBank.
How can I SuperCharge with 3rd party accessories?!

To understand the chargin technologies one must understand how Watts Volts and Ampere work. Volt x Ampere = Watt. Explaining Volt and Ampere is kinda long story but to keep it short: Imagine a garden hose: The pressure of the water is Volt, the speed of the water is Ampere. Watt is the amount of water thats pouring out.
There are various technologies for charging, in the end it matter how many Watts there are. But different combinations of Volts and Ampere are possible to achieve the same amount of Watts.
There is a new universal standard called Power Delivery which was introduced with USB 3.1 Type C. So this is a standard that comes with usb 3.1 type c and that is why all the new usb3.1 type c laptops support it. (PD supports multiple protocols (combinations of V and A to reach up to 100W) and the more powerful ones mostly support the lower ones too. that means a 100W PD charging brick could charge a 5Vx3A=15W Phone, a 14Vx2A=28W iPad Pro, a 60W Macbook, an 80W Ultrabook etc.)
Previous Charging standards are something around 5V and 1A,2A, computer usb 2.0 ports only give 0.5A and usb3.0 ports give 1A, which is why some laptops have a dedicated phone charging port that delivers 2A (most phones used 5V/2A before fast charging technologies hit the market, it is also the protocol phones fall back to if the charging brick does not support the fast charging technology of the phones manufacturer)
Phone manufacturers have their own technoligies or license them from other companies. Qualcom has QuickCharge which many smartphones use (Samsung uses QuickCharge 2.0 with 9V and 1,67A (Delivers roughly 15W))
Huawei has its own SuperCharge which is based on 5V/4A and 4,5V/5A (delivers around 22W). So in order to use supercharge you have to get a charging brick that explicitely supports 4,5V/5A protocol and a cable that supports 5A (since standard USB 3.1 Type C Power Delivery protocols are based on a maximum of 3A most usb-c cables dont support 5A).
So as i mentioned before: more powerful charging bricks usually support less powerful protocols. so in order to charge devices that do not support the specific fast chargind protocol, all chargers also support 5V2A. Thats what happens if a Samsung is charged with huawei brick or my mate 10 pro is charged with the samsung brick (the difference being that Huawei seems to label the usb 3.0 pc port 5V/1A as "charging", the normal 5V/2A as fast charging and the Huawei SuperCharge at 4,5V/5A obviously is called SuperCharge). USB Power Delivery aims to end that by providing a standard that is available for all that use a 3.1 type c port. (that means if i have a 60W apple chargin brick for my macbook i can also use the same brick to charge my 29W ipad pro or another 60W usb type c ultrabook with windows with the same brick and cable without thinking twice. before usb type c and PD all laptops had to have dedicated chargers)

Hi enrico. I have exactly the same issue and it seems like its related to the 4K TV only. FHD TV work fine with my mate 10 pro but when I connect it to 4K TV it sticks to 640*480 resolution, which is useless obviously. Have you found a solution or anyone else ?

What is the model of your TV ? Maybe its a model-related issue (not the native resolution), I tried with a hdmi 2.0 cable and the problem is still here. I own a samsung 55MU7000.

You getting much heat on the device I've used Samsung dex before and the S8 got warm but not very, I'm using the Mate 10 and the Dex hub which charges fast but phones gets quite hot using easy projection
