I am sorry with this noob question, but, can someone explains why samsung's touchwiz lancher (Twlauncher) is way sooo heavy and eats up ram ? and why it is sooo laggy ?
Thanks before

It isnt heavy and doesnt eat much ram
unwritten sentance
If you're not happy with twlauncher, why don't you just install another one? I used Go Launcher Ex for quite a while, much, much better than tw if you ask me
Nah Go launcher Ex has more features but uses ALOT more ram!
Bro TW does not use much ram and aint laggy on my device???
tw launcher was not heavy. if you use a launcher adw or go it will take a lot of ram
Use custom launchers ...

I beg to differ .
I love Touchwiz 4.0 , but I prefer TW to Sense , although it's good to see something new once in a while .
Unfortunately , we're stuck with 3.0 unless someone knows how to:
1) Remove the dependency of the lib on TW4 and mod it for ARMv6
2) Mod the Galaxy Ace to be ARMv7 compatible
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?
Launcher Pro is nice, u can set its memory usage to lowest and it wont lag

Lags be based on small empty ram. If you use an automatic task killer, TW doesn't lag.
Advanced Task Killer is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5yZWNoaWxkLmFkdmFuY2VkdGFza2tpbGxlciJd
And i will recommend Go launcher, so it's very customizable and useful launcher I saw. And it's my favourite launcher with last update.

task killers are not good !!
they say that Android was designd to b ram intensive.....in android free ram is wasted ram ....android is developed enough to manage its apps and does a pretty good job by itself....task killers can be harmful( they say )
i have read this somewhere
Maybe it lags due to sudden wake from deep sleep? It doesnt lag normally.

i ll have to dissapoint you but as another member said to me :Go launcher is just a ram hog.As for the memory usage im sorry but there is no option in go launcher
that allows you to change the memory preset.Go launcher uses too much memory because it has nice style and lots of themes and customizations. If you like themes and customization you can also try ADW Launcher
hello again recently i installed the ICS 4.0 theme(not launcher 2.4 i think launcher 2.4 is pathetic compared to the theme on GoLauncher).....and it made me have almost everything to look and function like the real ICS 4.0......but something happened it seems that my phone is a lot a lot faster and smoother than its ever been before it is rooted and it is gingerbread 2.3.4 KPH and i have not installed anything that can speed it up so why after installing this GoLauncher Theme is it sudenly become super fast and super smooth???

hahhahahah that could be one reason for it because this theme is very realistic and phones do get confused easily lol
I guess you are feeling the difference between 2 different launchers.
They all do perform differently, so thats where your "sudden" smoothness and speed could come from.
Cheers
theres a word for it, "placebo"
well i dont think its the differnece between the two launchers because i downloaded ICS launcher 2.4 and it was so horrible that i uninstalled it after just about 1min of use.......but could it just be the this GoLauncher ICS 4.0 theme thingy has some sort of accelerator(dont know what you guys call it in this forum) that might speed up my phone?

No, it does not.
The only thing I can think of is that youre storing the theme inside your (class 4)SD-card. The theme is maybe lighter which makes it load up faster.
Just a theory.
If you want a fast launcher i could recommend ADW Launcher Ex. If I wasnt so damn used to GOlauncher I'd switch to it.

ADW ex rocks!
+2!!! ADW Ex rocks. I tried out Go Launcher, and probably every launcher out there. If there's something that gives you almost every imaginable feature and yet doesn't slow down your phone. This has to be it.

It's faster, I'll admit that. I just switched over from the Go Launcher. But I feel like the Go Launcher has way more customization than the ADW Launcher. I'll keep giving it a try though. Liking some themes I saw. If anything I'll just back it up with Titanium just like Go Launcher and keep both.

Hey guys..
I was just wondering whats the BEST android launcher in your opinion?
My personal favorite is Zeam Launcher. I like its minimalistic look and its blazing fast too. It does not have any fancy features and it works great.
I also like Holo Launcher. I am still on Gingerbread so the Holo Launcher is a very appealing choice for me to try out because it is an ICS launcher. Holo Launcher works great and is one of my favorite. It has a lot of cool features but for some reason.. I keep finding myself going back to Zeam.
So guys... Whats your favorite android launcher?

Yeah.. A lot of people have told me to get Apex because its the "best" launcher for android if you have ICS. Unfortunately, I don't have ICS like most people. I hope to get a new phone though then I will be able to review ICS apps as well
If you like minimal and fast, try lightning launcher. I've been using it for months on all my devices now. It's great and let's you do loads of things that are just impossible on other launchers, like freely placing and rotating widgets and icons

Hey mate... I have actually tried this and I would agree with you that it is probaly the fastest launcher I have ever seen. However, it is not for everyone because their is only ONE home screen.
It may be fast but with only one home screen... its severely limited and putting apps on the home screen can sometimes screw up the grid. You just have to a little bit careful when you are placing or moving apps. Otherwise, its a great launcher.
Thanks for reminding me about this app mate...
Why does it look like your just promoting your review whenever you can? Besides, the best launcher question has been done a thousand times.

This would make a lot of sense because Go Launcher slows down your phone and if you have a higher end phone... it should be able to handle it fine. But still... Go Launcher is a battery whore.

Hmm... it seems like an impressive app but it seems more like a homescreen customizer. It is a also a whopping $16.80 in the Google Play store... hopefully its a typo but if its not... it seems awfully high for an app.
I have been recently wondering...
What's the fastest launcher?
Lightening Launcher is blazing fast but is there anything faster??
I have purchased tsf ui .. awesomely fast but take huge amount of ram. Nearly 45mb while others take 10-15mbs.

Its a quality app. We need to be willing to pay for quality apps if we want android to evolve more. That's just a couple of coffee drinks.
And 45mb is low for an eye candy app.

45 MB is the size of the app once installed?
Thats HUGE!!! ... I am on a Nexus One and thats like a 1/3 of all the space available on my phone.
Zeam is light, minimal and yet lots of customization, very good.
Apex is also great. Go Launcher is falling behind from my point of view in comparison.

i use launcher pro as i think i purchased it for 10p ages ago and it allows me to shrink icons/ space etc so i can have more on my screen and more in the dock etc.
I still think apex or nova is superior, but 360 launcher is also nice and has some cool transitions

Yes... when your launcher is so slow that it lags on a dual-core proc? Where is that uninstall button?
Apex launcher is the best. If your phone is rooted than you can use Titanium backup pro to convert the Apex Launcher apk to the SYSTEM APP and it will work perfectly fine and faster...
Try holo launcher hd plus its minimal and fast and absolutely no lag

Used since ICS Nova for my old S1 and for my new S3. Changed some weeks ago for TSF Shell.. Costs around ten bucks I think, but has several nice features (I love the folder option) and works flawlessy on S3 with livewallpaper. Doesn't suck so much battery as thought...
Personally I like the AOSP Launcher
The CM10 Trebuchet Launcher
Apex & Nova
As for TouchWizz the launcher isn't the problem, it's the ridiculous amount of crap that comes with it that slows down the device, well that and I can't move the Menu button to the middle like Stock Jelly Bean
But to be honest it's all down to personal taste, I prefer the Google Experience cause I use most of their apps, I have 0 time for the Samsung experience stuff. I mean seriously S-Voice over Google Now
For now i use Nova Prime. But from what little i have used TW in JB roms i will be using TW when official rom comes out.
But in the end it is all up to you!

It depends on your own taste. Try typing launcher in Play Store.

Wow, if you ask five people you might get five different answers. As eksasol said, it depends on what you like and what you want from your launcher. I've used holo HD, apex, TW, ADW, and of course trebuchet. I just started using holo, its real nice. Apex is a good launcher as well. My suggestion is test them and decide which works for you.
Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat...
Yes its depend on your Taste personally i use trebuchet or Apex
Trebuchet on my S3 and Apex on my girlfriend's S2.
