ISC slow? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hey
i just flashed ISC for my Neo with the help of this forum. The problem is, that its very slow now.
I already looked for some kernels but I dont want to unlock the bootloader.
Is there any posibility to make the phone faster without unlocking it?

Do a clean install instead upgrading, remove bloatware and finally don't expect miracles from 512mb ram

If you really want to use your phone flawlessly, stick on the stock .62 firmware. ICS lags too much, even the Sony warns you about this before updating. A 512MB single core processor can't do so much. Else, the best method is unlock your bootloader (don't worry, you can relock it again ) and flash the Night-Elf KERNEL with 1.8 GHZ OverClocking capability and many much more advantages.
Still, at last, .62 is the best

I appreciate your answer, I too followed all you said but in my case, it lags (even after Supercharging). So, switched back to the .62 firmware. Even the WiFi is not working properly on ICS, connects then disconnects repeatedly.

LG P500 has 512MB RAM, msm7227 ARMv6 600mHz CPU and ICS works super smooth and fast.
On neo V i'm using Apex launcher, and I prefer turn off xperia home and other blotware.
Sony must update kernel to newest version to bring us full ICS experience.

Help.

Hi. My wife have neo v. And i install official ics for her but the phone is not good soo much. And she blame me that i fu.. her phone. I try to find some custom rom for her, but i dont know what i need to look. So i need help from people who is test few roms/kernels. I need good kombo rom/kernel. She just play games and little facebook. So every help is good. Tnx to all for help. Please.....
Open pc companion,go to support zone, phone software upgrade and repair phone. This will do a fresh ics install over the one you upgraded. And things will be lot smoother now.Backup everything like sms, contacts before doing this cos this will erase everything in your phone and do a clean install.
btw I think wrong section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1605
I will try that. Tnx
Are there any further demands? AOKP/CM9 is very smooth, but video recording and some small stuff doesn't work.
Otherwise try MIUI. It has no bugs, and is a lot smoother and better looking than stock.

Official Jelly Bean Rom for Xperia Ray ?

Hi everybody, does anyone knows if Sony has planned an update for our Xperia ray to Jelly Bean ?
Or if an update is currently under development ?
Thanks for your anwsers
these is no official jelly bean for xperia 2011 phones the only jelly bean rom is from cm10 and one more guy these both is also under dev...
Sent from my ST18i using xda app-developers app
Sony are 'reviewing' whether jellybean will work "effectively" on Xperia 2011 line, and based on their "research" they will publicly announce whether or not they will bring jellybean to our phones.

I disagree, I think Sony won't offer JB just for the user experience, instead they will avoid it to push the customers to buy new phones.
İf you have time, check and see ICS hardware discussion on official Sony forum:
Some of Sony's newer 2012 ICS phones has same or poor hardware compared to Ray yet they run ICS like a charm.
Im being positive
HAAAAAAX!!!
Just as I said before, Jelly Bean is great thanks to project butter. If they release it for Xperia 2011 line, the biggest problem would be SONY's policy of customizing JB with their own (heavily layered) UI and pushing unnecessary and bad bloatware that kills system performance. But the good part of this would be the release of official drivers, that means more posibilities for developers to cook fully working ROMs, even for locked bootloaders.
One way - CM10.......
We are counting on you!
Thanks for all your answers
But I can't test CM10 because my bootloader is locked :-/
Can I have CM10 with a locked bootloader (I have CWM and a rooted Xperia Ray) ?
Thanks you all, I love this forum

No you can't you need the kernel, and for the kernel, you need to unlock the bootloader, it's the only way. Btw, no jelly bean update at all, or at least that's what i've read, somewhere (can't remember..) because the 2011 line has only got 1 core processors, and it's not enough according to sony developers. Obviously that's stupid, as said before, it runs quite well in the nexus line, wich has similar specs. Take courage, and unlock your bootloader, that's my opinion, 'cause I'm sure that sony won't release Jb for our phones, and a custom rom will always be better anyways.
Best regards..!
Ok thanks, but before unlock my bootloader I will wait for a more stable Rom
And maybe I will try an ICS custom Rom to force me to unlock my bootloader

ooh, once you unlock and start trying slimmed down and alternative firmwares you won't go back.
One of our users called JJdoctor makes an excellent ICS firmware and FXP continue to work on CyanogenMod 10. This is shaping up to be an excellent JB firmware - already very stable and very fast.

Well as I recall they (SONY/GB) said on facebook that 2011 wouldn't get JB but then I saw on Xperia blog I think that it was demented e.g they are "investigating".
Personaly, I think they should end 2011 with Project Butter you know, end while your on top.
The HW should be ok and it's mostly performance optimazing from ICS

Thanks you all but I have a little problem, my phone is sim-locked, I didn't know that isn't possible to unlock the bootloader when a phone is simlocked and I don't want to pay it, I'm student and I don't have a lot of money =/
I woldn't ask for jb, I would be really happy with an ics rom, as smooth and stable as Gb.. And without the chunky camera app it has on ics, quality is way better back in gb.

[Q] Xperia Ray not working properly after flashing and rooting. What to do?

Hello everyone.
I tried rooting my Xperia ray today using this guide: http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/root-your-xperia-phone-without-voiding-warranty/
Bear with me, you might find all of this tedious to read. My phone came with GB 2.3.4 build .62 which is hard to root. So as the above guide directed, I downloaded a .42 build firmware, CE(Central Europe perhaps? I don't know) and tried to flash it using flashtool. I disconnected the phone from the PC in between. My phone wouldn't boot. Then I used SUS and updated it to ICS, making the phone work. I then flashed it to GB .42 patiently, and with success. Alas, problems started immediately. Many processes such as media, calender storage, acro etc came up as stopped working. Even after selecting force close they would keep appearing. I cleared the respective cache/data and the notifications stopped. Then I rooted it using Doomlord's toolkit, and updated to .62 via OTA, keeping my root. A few things have changed. The keyboard name is the same, International keyboard, but it is different and I don't like it. Camera is not working. Screen goes blank if I open the camera. Messaging does not work and the messaging app crashes as soon as I open it. No contacts are found, despite importing them again. (They all show up when using the import from SIM option, it says importing is done but they are nowhere to be found). I called someone manually. While calling his name shows up but my contacts is completely blank. Google search is not working and it crashes too. There might be other problems, but I haven't checked. Anything in particular to check? Please help me solve all these issues. I'm glad my phone is rooted now, but it's next to useless due to all this. Please help me.
Great. Even the screen unlock security seems to not work. No slide to unlock. No pattern unlock even though I saved a pattern. I press the power button, the phone just shows the home. No security. How do I fix all this? PC Companion? SUS? And I don't want ICS so I won't use them if that's what they're going to update my phone to rather than fix it.
Do a complete wipe data/factory reset or flash .42 again, if this won't work take it to a service center cause it's a hardware issue

Oh my God. Yet again, a small step proved to be highly useful. I can't thank you enough! :good::good::good::good::good::good:
Side note: I'm thinking about unlocking my bootloader, mainly for installing a custom kernel to overclock and probably for using custom ROMs in the future. I know that I will lose my DRM, so I can't run trackid and timescape. What else wont I be able to run? Is DRM that important? Can I unlock the bootloader with a method that will keep my warranty? Thanks in advance.

No problem, hope it's going well now :good:
1. Overclocking can destroy your phone/phone's hardware. I've never overclocked and I wouldn't do it...
2. DRM are not important and trackid should work with the latest version. Not sure about timescape, maybe with an updated version it works
3. You can just keep your warranty by unlocking with testpoint method. Here is a great tutorial and sony won't notice it, only when your phone is bricked up
But testpoint is just working until a specific build number of the hardware, it should be mentioned somewhere in the thread!

Android 4.2.1? Oh just saw your sig you have CM 10.1. I've heard that Android 4.0 and above versions don't work well on 2011 Xperia devices.
How's it running? Is it better than the stock GB ROM? How's the gaming performance? If that's fine, I might install the ROM in the near future. Also, do you use Chainfire 3D? V6 Supercharger? Any other apps that enhance performance? Sorry for asking so many questions

I think you have gotten a lot of good advice from Mihahn and I just wanted to add some suggestions before you unlock your bootloader...you probably want to get comfortable working with CWM Recovery. It has been a while since I did this on GB but there are a bunch of tools that you can use to put recovery onto GB stock roms and a good place to start is this thread in Ray Dev: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426912
Also before you decide you just gotta have a certain ROM, take a good look at the OP for the ROM....there may be something not working correctly that would be a deal breaker for you....there are some features that only work properly on a stock based ROM. This is particularly true of the Jelly Bean 4.2 build for the Ray....the 4.1 ROMs are working pretty good.....but if you absolutely love the sony camera app then you have to stay on a stock ROM.
Have fun!

[Q]Need your [OPINIONS] & [suggestions]

Hi, still NEWBIE here in android era.
i have an XPERIA MINI st15i. just got it last sept. 2012.
i rooted my phone but it is still LOCKED BL.
Just wanna ask about your OPINIONS/SUGGESTIONS about advantages of UNLOCKING the BL.
Aside from having custom kernel. is there any other significance?
and one more thing, if I unlock my phone, it can still be RELOCK from what i seen here in the forum.
if i Relock my BL, and flash the stock .ftf. will it be accepted in SONY, and my warranty will not be void?
asking with your help SIR/MADAM.
don't be too harsh for me if posting this thread is a total noob.
i will delete it if i made a violation in the forum rules.
THANKS and God BLESS+

Hi.
Do it and don't look back as the advantages far outweigh the negatives, and it makes modding your Phone so much easier in the long run, just be sure to READ READ READ! before attempting to do anything, not doing still catches advanced users out too from time to time, but it's even more important to do so when you're starting to learn.
thanks!
Thanks for the replies. Really appreciate your guidance..
Well i guess i know what to do now. Just read and learn more. I made my phone rooted and installed many roms. Therefore i can make it unlock too. . Heheh.
Thanks again. Thanks fiir the link!
More power!
My personal experience.
I have an lww, a very spectacular phone in stock ics rom... But when i unlocked my bootloader, a world of android community opens.
Modded kernels brinds your phone speed, look, smooth, and a lot of other characterist.
A important point is the Overclock/Underclock, wich is the reason because i decide to unlock my phone, and i 1.6 Ghz the change is notory, and dont lost much battery life in ics.
My opinion: UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER, and taste the flavour of jelly bean!

Don't overclock your phone to 1.6 ghz as it may burn your cpu....1.2 or 1.4 is ideal for daily use...(though I don't recommend overclocking the phone at all)

It is Sony Vaio's fault since they modified the update.

I did a full wipe and its really better.
But the gaming performance is compared to ics worse.
I noticed that the tablet is while playing games (like gta vc) most of the time running at 1,4ghz.
But this means its running only on one cor, right?cause quad core is only 1.3ghz max, right?
There's no need to downgrade to ICS.
Just install Tegra Overclock 1.5.1. Then you can choose active cores and frequencies.
Yeah this makes really alot of sense to install tegra overclock on an unrootable device...
But thanks for the tip anyway.
