If the web browser is working and can connect to a website, I think it's a problem with the youtube application.
See if the mobile site works. If it does, then it is a problem with the application.
Try reinstalling youtube from the market or updating it and seeing if it works again.

I remember reading that Boost throttles data after x amount of data. Sprint decided to do this to keep data hogs under control but only for their Boost customers.

##3282# from the dialer on the Evo. You will get to the EPST settings. Click edit and then enter the MSL. It will prompt you for a password which is the MSL aka SPC.*Once you get past that, go to advanced > RTSP Proxy Address (for stock Gingerbread it's advanced > RTSP/HTTP Setting > RTSP Proxy Port). Make this 0.0.0.0 Also make the HTTP PD Proxy Address 0.0.0.0 Also change the ports for both of these to 0 Back out and you should be good.
YouTube should now be working. This is the process for cricket but it should have the same results for metropcs.

note:if you are connected to a wifi the internet app will not work in less you turn mobile network of and restart for that i have opera mini it will work on wifi but not on mobile so i use internet app for mobile and opera for wifi the rest of apps will work normal on wifi not on mobile only the mail app work normal on wifi and mobile use it to send and receive pix messages

You'll need APN Backup & Restore (free from Market) to get your MMS working right. There's tutorials all over about what things need to be put in, but I just modify the 'Production' area in the xml file. Some people create/rename a whole area called 'metropcs'.
I've done this with Cricket. Good luck with Metro.

Is There a Way to Backup Your Metro Flash Settings?
I had my Eris flashed to Metro, but it wasn't syncing my contacts with Gmail correctly. People on these forums were saying that a hard reset would fix it. Tried that and of course all of my Metro Flash settings were wiped and my phone was reverted back to the original Verizon network. Is there a way to backup the Metro Flash settings or create some type of restore image, so I don't have to take it back to get reprogrammed every time I do a hard reset?
How do I know if I have all the APN setting correct?

Download APN Backup & Restore from the market.
Back Up your APN's.
Upload them here, so that other MetroPCS users can have MMS working properly.
You would be a hero.
Also, if you want to actually help people, you can do a nand backup, then turn your phone on and delete all of your contacts and information the best that you can, then do a nand backup again, and upload the second nand backup.
APN Backup & Restore is how you edit APN's. They're not REALLY APN's, they're just for MMS, on this phone.
##778 pw 000000 is how you edit most connection settings
iptables in the system is how you put EVERYthing through the proxy (need root)
and APN Backup (then edit it on a computer in a text editor) is how you can edit the APN's.
Make sure you DELETE before you RESTORE or it will just add on to the APNS already there.
here is the eris flash for metro/cricket enjoy...
www-megaupload-com/?d=PV7PQ9UI
change the dashes to dots..
Yes, get your custom ROM in there, and then flash the .zip (within this .zip) that is appropriate for MetroPCS.
It's all there, and it should work perfectly.

Does the phone say there's no SIM card inserted? If so, run to any T-mobile store and ask for a new SIM.
Also, I was having data issues two days ago. I keep a copy of the KB5 modem that's flashable in Recovery. Just re-flash and all was good.

LOL, answering a 6 month old thread is classic.
Alright guys. Just an hour ago I received a message from T-Mobile saying that they blocked my tethering and that I had to pay for that. Screw that. I found a way to fix it.
Prerequisites:
Rooted Phone on GB / ICS
Data Plan
Wireless Tether For Root Users app, download it from here.
New APN (For T-Mobile USA users)
We will create an APN (also works with MMS). Go to Settings -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Names. Press the menu button and press New APN. Type the following.
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: (leave this blank)
Click to collapse
Press Save APN. After that, do the following.
1. Install the app.
2. Open WiFi Tether.
3. Press the Menu Button.
4. Click Settings.
5. Click "Change Device-Profile".
6. If you are on Gingerbread, choose your Actual Device!
6.1 If you are on Ice Cream Sandwich, choose "Generic ICS".
7. If you are on T-Mobile, Scroll down and MUST select "Routing Fix".
7.1 Depending on your Carrier, you may need to select Routing Fix.
8. Tether away! (Just don't go over your data!)

Don't know if it matters:
I have the "unlimited" 5G plan. I have a SGS4G phone, use Team Acid's ICBINB rom, and antonx's KJ6 kernel version 1.1.0. The phone is (of course) rooted.
Here are screenshots
I forgot to add that I usr wireless tether for root users. Not the built in hotspot.

I did have it selected when i set it up. Tried it again...its working now. Im using the stock mobile hotspot.
Thanks for the help
I double checked the setings from your screen shot. Mine are the same, still no go. Deleted browser cache (Chrome) and restarted browser (again). No go. Tried "wap.voicestream.com" and "internet2.voicestream.com" still no-go.
I am using the hotspoy app that came with the team acid icbinb rom, which I believe is stock SS or Android. I will look on the market for "wireless tether for root users and see if that helps".

Sorry, not exactly related to topic.
I was wondering, does 5GB data come with free tethering always or you were lucky to get it for free?
I have preferred Android plan.
Creating a whole new apn isnt necessary at all. This is already all over the forum =). All you ever have to do is delete everything out of the "apn type" field of the default apn like so -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPaIpdSuCe0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Why go through all the trouble when this method takes a matter of seconds and works like a charm on every single Rom I've ever tested it on? =)

Actually you are mistaken. Currently speaking, tethering comes automatically with the 5 or 10 gig options.
If you think t mobile pricing is unreasonable, you should try having service with Verizon, or any carrier not t mobile for that matter he he he =)
That's weird. It's worked for me on 6 different roms, and also worked for BOTH of my co workers on completely stock Amaze's. I think something may have been missed, but since your current method works I guess there's no point in figuring that out I guess =)

I can explain the "REQ Pref Android Web". There were 2 types Android data plans. (Now they just call it smartphone web or something like) One Req and an Android web. If you bought a phone on contract or did an upgrade, they added the Required data so you can't remove it. If you brought a phone in and wanted to activate or bought the phone outright, you are not required to keep the data and can remove it whenever.
It doesn't relate to the question, but just wanted to throw that out there lol.

I got it.
I was explained verbally, I have unlimited plan throttled down after 5GB.
It's not the same as 5GB plan, probably.
I can see on TMO forums, people are talking about:
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/25504?start=15&tstart=0
Only the $14.99 tethering plan and the very recent amendments to the 5GB and 10GB plans have explicitly allowed use.
To AndroidAutobot:
I was wondering, do you see tethering is included in your services list on myTmobile?

I've been on it for probably 6 months I don't hold anything back use data like I want haven't had any problems except from dealers making money flashing phones that want me to stop with my videos and tutorials.
HERE"S A LINK https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2VIFL0RoIC8bFVpWno4S0liTUU/edit it's on google docs
what was that command you typed in dfs. thats the only thing i need. thanks.
^^Good to know... sprint 3g still blows chunks out here.. vzw somewhat better. For my data usage, functional 3g would be more than enough.
This is something to consider for when my contract is up.
Thanks

I just install the verizon messenger since it takes over as default mms without issue
This one v has been whipping me
Also what prl did you use. Any Verizon prl I used always showed roaming. And I think 00001 prl is probably bout outdated by now. Thanks. I've had good luck with ltes on straight talk but need to go to Verizon cause steaight talk says I abuse data and I have to reflash with new donor and new number every month. Its getting annoying lol. Prl please lol. If you need any help with anything I might be able to help. I'm good at the s2, s3, and the mifi 2200. I don't do it as a business just family and friends I hook up for them lol

Watch the new laws that go into effect tomorrow January 26th 2013 making it illegal to modify a cell to operate on another network. There is another link in this section for details.

Alright so before we start we need to get the tools.
Qpst
http://conflipper.com/Software/QPST_2.7_366.rar
Possible diag drivers
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
cdmaworkshoptool (if you need to get your msl)
http://code.google.com/p/cdmaworkshoptool/
DFS
http://cdmatool.com/
PRL 53000

Verizon Messenger
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2VIFL0RoIC8bFVpWno4S0liTUU/edit
activate your samsung gusto 2
On your evo turn on usb debugging, install apps, and airplane mode.
Install everything and make sure everything is running and connecting well. Connect your device to your computer and open up a dialer and type ##3424# to put it in diag mode
Open up cdmaworkshoptool read msl, change it to all zeroes, and write the prl then close it.
Open up qpst and use this method here to erase your meid and esn
reboot your phone and open dfs.
Plug both devices in and add their ports to dfs.
Send this password
Code:
2011101116083112
to the gusto2 in the pwd section
Send this password
Code:
41 74 64 77 61 6F 70
to the evo 4g lte in the cmd section
Then hit read in write just as in video
adb install verizon messenger or place it on your sdcard and install it
Turn off the gusto take the evo out of airplane mode and reset it
You'll have working 3g, mms talk and text.
Notes
Go to mobile network and change network mode from LTE/CDMA to CDMA other wise you'll have network disconnect problems
Requests
Hit thanks button whenever you can
Pretty please with sugar on top I would like to get rid of the dfs situation entirely and it's not needed if you have a samsung intensity 2 as a donor if you have any coding abilities at all figure out why cdma workshop tool reads the intensity ppp and aaa incorrectly but reads the intensity 100%

I am having an issue with a recent flash. I followed directions in the video and was successful in flashing two Evo 4g to verizon prepaid using the Gusto 2. But...I seem to be stuck roaming to the sprint towers. How do I get the phone out of roaming please?
I spoke to verizon customer service this evening and they alerted me to this. I am sure this is what is causing me to have to dial phone numbers twice. I will dial a number to call, it will connect to an automated message telling me to dial the number again, and then it will connect.
Odd, and verizon will dump me for roaming like a feind.
Thanks for the guide and any direction you could send me for help.
I had the same issue it's mainly to do with the crappy radio in the device. So what I did is flash the rom.zip from the s-off site to get to 100% stock and then flashed the 53000 prl and haven't had any problems. I am still pretty much 100% stock just removed the bloat that comes with the phone.
