So since i've been home from college i had no reason to listen to my iPod...and since i left it in my truck while it was freezing cold...now it doesnt work...so now instead of buying a new i'll start using my phone...so what's a good music playing app that'll keep everything organized???
Depends what features you're looking for. If you just want something simple like an iPod the TWiz player is great, plus the notification drawer integration is nice. If you like Winamp and wanna stream music from your computer, then you'd probably like Winamp. The best in my opinion is the more advanced, feature packed PowerAMP. It is a paid app now, but you can try the full version free for a while.

if you have the vibrant.. the stock app is great by itself. Buuuuut If you want a great music app with an equalizer and everything else.. try Power Amp. Its an awesome app and it has a full screen widget.
thanks guys...i just "got" PowerAMP and it looks great...thanks for the suggestions

I actually really like Winamp on my Vibrant.
If you're looking for audio streaming from your pc to your vibrant; you can't beat Audio Galaxy. The best interface out there and it hasn't failed in both quality and ease of use.
Great product though! Also check out mixzing. That's a pretty cool app too...

+1 on Audiogalaxy. Ive been using it for a while now. As long as youre in an area with good coverage/wifi, youll always have all of your music on there. And for me, thats even more music than I can fit on my 120gb music.
But for music on your sd card, the previously mentioned PowerAmp is a great option, sleek UI plus an awesome equalizer.
Im running ginger clone anyone have the link so I can get the stock samsung vibrant music app the phone originally came with it was real nice

i personally use playerpro, loving it. lockscreen functionality too!
I'm big into music on my vibrant and I am using the MIUI music player (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854766). Give it a look.
Mixzing is the best. Can organize by folder or how ever you want. Can even set it up to only show music in certain folders. So you don't have random sounds like you would in the stock music player. Plus has nice Widgets. And Album art. Very nice player! Also can play video files too. If you want!

If you liked how the iPod / iTunes did things you might enjoy DoubleTwist. Then again, you might just enjoy it anyway. Has an AirSync add-on available too. However, I'm currently using Player Pro. While it's not free, I haven't found it's equal in the many other players I've tried.
you need to try this i love it
{app} miui music player apk
here is the thread

+1 for miui, great replacement for the stock player. Myself, my mp3s are nicely organized in folders, and not all of them tagged properly, so I ended up with a ton of "unknown" artist tracks. Found MortPlayer in the market, and it plays by folder, not tag. Saved me a ton of work.
Ginger Clone's of the World Unite! Via the XDA App
Im using Playerpro also. Great app. Not only does it have lockscreen functionality but while locked the volume buttons can be used to change tracks and control volume. Love it

I'll second MixZing. It's awesome.

I'm not sure if there is already a thread for music players because you can't search with xda apppppp. Correct me if I am wrong. What do you guys think is the best music player/app?
I really liked the Samsung music player.
Stock one on the atrix sucks I think. It freezes from time to time and does some funky shewt
Edit: I am wrong. You can search......

Has the leaked music app.
Winamp is (in my opinion) the best. It offers everything doubleTwist does plus wireless sync is free. The doubleTwist app on the PC side is sluggish and bloated whereas Winamp is quite speedy and lightweight comparatively speaking. doubleTwist does offer streaming to ps3/360 but you can do that already using DLNA so it doesn't really matter.
DoubleTwist FTW... The leaked music app is good looking but too laggy for my constant use

search for the Connected Music Player, its motorola but 10x better than stock, it does lyrics, internet radio, song tagging music videos and tunewikki community, i love it so much better than stock

Cubed.
I ended up having to root and freeze the default music player so it would stop trying to take over music duties via bluetooth controls. I had that problem with a few other players too, not just cubed, so if you are using it to stream music via bluetooth, something to think about doing.
Cubed.
So smooth and visually appealing.
WinAmp FTNW! (for the nostalgia win!)
Works pretty well too, and has wifi sync. I mostly just use the player in gtunes or pandora though.

+1 the equalizer in this player is amazing - I'm using the headphones setting and it sounds great.
I like DoubleTwist as well.. easy to sync music and movies
PowerAMP
If you haven't tried PowerAMP for a music player, you really haven't unleashed your Android's music abilities. Hands down the best music player you will ever use, and easily worth the $5 to get the pro version. Check it out!
???!!!
The only problem wit this one is that even if u remove the stock player it wont work with bluetooth streaming/controling...
..Maybe were missing some libraries or something a dev could help us please ;-)

Why do you all hate the stock music player? I've used PowerAMP Pro, Mixzing, and the stock player. And I have to say, there's no damn difference apart from the stock player has a nicer and much more simple GUI, nice equalizer, and is free. Why waste 5 quid on a crappy 'PowerAMP Pro' that wastes battery, looks ****, etc.
Thoughts? Cheers
P.s. I think the Stock music player is ****ing ace .
EDIT: OK because you were all on about PlayerPro I checked it out and damn is it good! It has very nice bass and it's louder too. Only problem is that it uses up 3* as much RAM and 4* as much battery as the stock player, which in my eyes isn't worth it for such a small improvement. Anyway, I still love the stock player, they're both great!
It doesn't read my .m3u playlists. So I bought ZPlayer.
I dont hate it, i like and use it ^^
Glad that someone wrote it finally
I also think that stock player is very good, maybe not perfect but still.
Only player that could threat stock player may be Winamp but now it has so many bugs that for me is useless
I agree , but real player is pretty cool

The AOSP player has a widget I believe. But it's still bland like the TW version.
Even the 3rd party players availableon the market don't do it for me because they don't integrate the way I'd like.
It's sometimes smooth and sometimes laggy, which hate. So I use ubermusic for the total smoothness.

Yeah I just checked out Player PRO, it's pretty nice actually. But what's the difference between that and the stock? I mean, does the stock use more battery? or...or what?
I use stock player and i think other player just use software decoder mean they eat more batteries
MIUI Music app here on a MIUI rom. Can't fault it.
After i got SGS2 never bothered with other players, as stock one is simply great. Nice UI, good sound quality, equalizer, bass boost and few sound effects, that's all i need.

i love the stock player.. used playerpro, poweramp, that MetroUI one from Fede, Doubletwist, Winamp etc..
Only thing I wish it could do is edit ID3 tags or at least properly read the ones set by iTunes
I use the stock player on my Samsung, but needed to go with 3rd party on my Atrix. But for Samsung, hands down I LOVE the stock player!...

Hi there. Let me chime in as well. I am using PlayerPro (paid) and I prefer it due to the interface and skin layout. I tried ProAmp and a bunch of others and they are not my cup of tea. I personally don't like google music interface. I also see not much sense in storing my music in the cloud where I can't access it when I am in the air. I am in the process of getting myself a 64GB sdxc and that will hold everything that I currently have on my Zune. As a side, I wish there were an app that lets you use the GS2 with my zune pass subscription, which lets you store your downloaded music subscription etc to your zune player. Currently you can't play this content on the GS2. I am using Klipsch S4 and they are excellent, and for air travel I may switch them on occasion with my audio-technica noise cancelling ear buds.

I think PlayerPro has the best interface/sound combo with PowerAmp a close second. I've paid for both.
PlayerPro is the easiest/most intuitive of any player I've tried. The ability to pick the artist photos is a huge plus in my book.
Also, I own those Klipsch S4 earbuds. They sound great!

poweramp no doubt. it's tried and true. also, the audio-tweaking options are unmatched.
for player pro, you have to install a dsp package...i don't know about you, but the less i have to install, the better. poweramp is the all inclusive package that makes your music sound many times better.
When it comes to sound quality, I think PowerAmp is the best by far. On the other hand, n7player has a GUI more pleasing to the eye. And also, there is the price, but if You want to enjoy the music in its fullest I say go with PowerAmp. I use it myself and just love it.

No you don't. PlayerPro comes with an EQ like PowerAmp, but you can add the DSP package if you want to. IMO PowerAmp is all flash and bling with OK audio, while PlayerPro concentrates on being easy to navigate and deliver great sound. Like PowerAmp you can tweak the audio exactly like you want it and the DSP addon only allows you to push it a little further.
But between PowerAmp and N7? PowerAmp aaaall the way.
I know it's not listed but for the audiophile there can be only one player: Neutron Music Player.
Really just try it. Better than poweramp

PlayerPro FTW! For me the best music player, i tried PowerAmp but i dont like its UI, PlayerPro is much easier to use.
now Poweramp is the best audio player for android device but for the best quality of sounds you should use some other thinks like audiobeats or scripts to get better voice
How awesome wouldn't it be if somebody resourceful made a meticulous blind test using different Android music playback options on a high end system!
Personally I find minimal difference in image, width and dynamics between different player apps; voodoo sound is what makes real impact in my ears.

Fantastic sound can be had from the 10 band EQ, and it has decent presets. The UI is gorgeous and its very simple to manipulate, even when you're on the go. It plays everything i throw at it, and i can change tags/artwork from within the app... the list goes on
Been using PowerAMP for about 2 years now, and it's still the best
