[Q] Need help with installing PDANet - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I had PDANet installed on my netbook and it was working fine. The other day when i tried to use it, I received a message that the driver was not correct. Decided to delete the program and install the latest version, 3.50. It installed on the phone without a problem. Tried installing it on my netbook several times and every time I received the error message "Installer failed to open device". My netbook has 32bit Windows 7 and I was using the 32bit installer.
Gave up on the netbook and utilized the 64bit installer with my 64bit Windows 7 on my laptop. Installed without any problem.
Sent PDANet tech support an email; however, they have been less than useless.
Has anybody else received this error message? If so, were you able to resolve the problem?
Any help will be much appreciated.

In before Red5 shuts it down! (This really isn't related to our phone bro)

OMG! It's an app I am trying to use on my AT&T SGS2 and the computer side of the app will not install. How in hell does that not relate to "our" phone. Trolls just want to troll.

No no what I mean is there are a ton of apps out there. I'm not gonna post about it here and ask this community to solve a problem related to installing software on my computer. Now if it were related to installation problems on the phone I could see that being posted here
I would suggest contacting the developer of pdanet? Or posting in a forum related to pdanet?

App Inventor?

Has anyone figured out how to get the droid eris to work with app inventor? From what I've heard everyone's having a lot of trouble with it. I'm on a mac, btw, and I've been mounting the phone as a disk drive with no success.
I just sent my request for an invite yesterday, so obviously have not heard back yet. I don't think there are many that have gotten theirs yet either... Just for fun, I did install the appinventor-extras and it did recognize my phone, so I hope that's a good start. Running Windows 7 32bit.
Do you have a Droid Eris as well? And yah, I think it has something to do with running it on a mac because it isn't compatible with HTC Sync which contains most of the drivers I need.
Have an Eris but do not have Sync set up. Already had adb installed so probably just used the the ones that were already added in.
When I get my invite I will get it to work with the Droid Eris. Btw, if you're on a mac, ubuntu works really well dual booted, if thats your thing.
Does anyone know the extent of apps that you can make with this thing? Like, how complicated are we going to be able to get? I'd love to make a mashup of my favorite home replacements...

Yah, it's surprisingly in depth actually. So far, I've noticed there's a function which can force a text, an "activity starter" (which allows you to open apps on the phone), and basic textbox and image components, to name a few.
just got my invite about an hour and a half ago and I still cant get my phone to connect to app inventor... I tried using the custom .inf and that didnt work. it wouldnt even recognize it. i am going to use the emulator for now.
if anyone finds a working driver please upload it.
I have a question to anyone who has access to app inventor. Does anyone else's phone reboot when loading an app onto it? Also in google chrome every time I open the blocks editor it makes me download a new jar file.
AcidRoot, It's normal to download the file everytime. And I don't have problems with my Eris rebooting, but mine doesn't work with AppInventor (I was invited).

Drivers and windows 7

What's up guys. I have been a flash junkie for the past several weeks.. Flashing Axura, Team Whiskey's roms and everybody else's in between. I bricked my vibrant this past Sunday and needed to Odin back to stock because I could not get into recovery. So I proceeded to open Odin and hook up my phone when I get a message on my PC that my device wasn't recognized. So I went through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers... I had no luck. So I got frustrated and went to a friends house and tried it. WTF? IT WORKS. He also has win7. So after a fresh Odin and back to an unrooted 2.2 I figured I could connect to my computer.... ( ha)... no luck again. So I backed up everything and installed win7 again. Tried it after that and still saying that the device is unrecognized. I know its probably something simple I'm overlooking but if anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated...

I have no problem with W7. It's possible your USB port is taking a dump. Do other USB devices work? Did you try another USB port?
Yep..... the only thing I have hooked up is a printer.... also I have tried all the ports. They all start to download the driver then it stops and the little notification bubble pops up and tells me that my device has stop working.

Try uninstalling the drivers you've at the moment, plug your vibrant and wait for the W7 drivers to install. Windows may have downloaded the drivers from the internet when you first plugged in your vibrant then you installed the drivers on here and **** got confused so if the w7 drivers work and your vibrant is recognized then all's good. Elsewhere, uninstall the drivers and install the xda ones but his time make sure you assign them manually too. (update driver>don't search for driver>let me assign the driver)

This is good start, Also try disabling your virus protection, sometimes it goes wonky and decides to block some of the usb hook up like a camera or phone, this has happened to me in the past.
Win 7 is very stable but on thing as a recommendation if you do not have you might think about getting win pro 64bit, is the most stable I have found...... just an after thought......... hope you get this resolved.
Thanks..... Will definitely try that when I make it home.

[Q] UBUNTU on 3d

Posting here cuz i don't have enough posts to reply to the development thread -_-
regarding UBUNTU INSTALL ON EVO 3d :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197377
So ubuntu worked for me on my 3d yesteday, but i woke up this morning, and it doesn't seem to be working.
gives me error
vnc connection failed!
/127.0.0.1:5901 - Connection refused.
I'm not sure why it would do this this morning, if it worked fine last night.
tried steps from after putting ubuntu on the sdcard again, but that didn't seem to do anything
if nothing else works, could someone walk me through a re-install of ubuntu?
or at least how to uninstall it, so i could re-install it via the same instructions?
Try upping the port number by one
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I actually changed it to 5902 yesterday, and it worked, but i forgot to update/delete this thread
Do you know why this happened? why would it work on port 5901 at first, then change to port 5902? was it something i did?

[Q] fastboot stuck on waiting for device

Alright guys/gals, I'm sorry to make this thread, but I've been messing with this for days and just can't get it. I'm hoping someone with XP 32bit may know the answer. Or maybe someones google-fu is better than mine.
So, here it is:
I FINALLY installed the sdk a few weeks ago.
When I plug my Evo LTE in, and type adb devices, the window shows my device. I can adb reboot bootloader and that works. Then switch device to fastboot via bootloader. But when I try to do a fastboot command (fastboot reboot) it hangs on 'waiting for device'.
Apparently it's a driver issue, I assume. But I just can't figure out what exactly I need. Or maybe a different fastboot.exe in my sdk?
Using win XP sp3 32 bit. Anyone else?
Also, I can't get my PC to see my evos internal storage. I've tried uninstalling HTC sync (but actually it still shows in manage programs) I've tried installing the 32bit drivers in the zedomax root thread. Numerous reboots. I've installed easytether from market and used it (I've seen some say the drivers from that help with various android driver issues). Nothing will get my (crappy, low rent, PC) to see my new Evo. Sees my old Evo just fine, always has. But I know USB/MS is different from MTP.
I'm not a total noob. I rooted my Evo on launch day 2010 and have flashed and modded ever since. But when it comes to PCs and drivers etc, I really am a total noob.
So, if ANYBODY has any advice or links to what I need, I'd be forever indebted.
Much thanks to any response (except lmgtfy lol).
Edit:
My PC doesn't have web connection (I really just use it for storage and android stuff. Also, when I check in device manager, it doesn't show Android 1.0, as some tuts suggest, it shows my HTC.
Also, when i plug into a win7 PC with a web connection, it grabs drivers and recognizes my storage with no problem (if that helps). Thanks

Look at my thanks, it's pretty obvious I've helped lots of people. But I am stumped on this. Please, anyone with XP 32 bit, and my fastboot just hangs on 'waiting for device '
If anyone on win XP 32 bit knows what I'm talking about, please advise
Much thanks. F:ck, at this point I'd pay somebody who can help.

I ran into this when I was rooting my gnex. Where it failed to install the android 1.0 drivers don't know if this is device specific but try this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9njewnlumKg&feature=youtube_gdata_player

haha thanks man. Total irony, I set my sdk up using QBkings videos and files cuz i was following galaxy nexus stuff cuz I got one for my mom for mothers day. . Still can't get it. Thanks though.
From what I've seen, most times when drivers are issue, device manager shows android 1.0. Mine doesn't say that. Mine shows MyHtc, and says all drivers are good.
Adb works. Fastboot no-worky.
If anyone else has struggled with XP, I'd love to hear it.
.much thanks.

Try updating or installing HTC sync, that fixed my issue with drivers. I tried to install manually and had issues.
FWIW I was on Windows 7.

I have the same issue using Win7 with the updated drivers used for Root. I have the SDK downloaded and all files that were specified installed to c:\Android. You can see my screen copy in the other HTCDev failed thread. I am stuck in the same boat. Hoping someone can help us with this. As some are getting it and others are not.

Well try uninstalling all phone drivers. Reboot and just hook the phone up and see what happens. Also could be the fault of the of the cable or you need to try a different USB port. And man WinXP 32? Somebody needs to update/ get a new PC . I'm kidding, I was stuck with two of em on XP, just recently got a new laptop with W7. If that doesn't work you could try setting up a Linux VM and see if fasfboot will work through there... but that a like last resort and only if you know what your doing on Linux or can google-fu quite well.

Would be great if one of the all knowing ones could make a script to do this. That includes the needed files and ish. Put this @ the root of C: and click the script that way if you do what your told you can narrow down what is wrong.

Here is the fix. The problem is the android 1.0 drivers. To fix install the PDA net desktop client. When you run it it will ask if you want to replace the drivers. Do this. Go to device manager and look for android 1.0 with the yellow exclamation point. Hit update drivers and browse to (x86/PdaNet for Android/usbwin (windows 7 the location will be different depending on your machine) you will see a security warning install anyway.Complete the installation and this should solve the issue.
Also as a note you may have to toggle signed drivers especially on Windows 8.

Thanks. But I dont show the Android 1.0 drivers with exclamation mark as other have. My drivers just show My HTC ≥my HTC and say they're working properly.
I did install easytether and had read installing it and it's drivers help. But not so far. Haven't tried PDAnet. Will try. Maybe it uses different drivers than easytether?

Finally. I got fastboot working. But just through dumb luck. I uninstalled everything HTC I could find and then tried 12billion different ways to update the 2 drivers I'd downloaded. I finally got the android 1.0 in device manager then tried every driver I could find.
Fastboot works now. But NOTHING I did got XP to see my device as a storage MTP :banghead: dammit, I NEED to be able to get to my sh1t.

Same, same, did you already unlock the bootloader?
Sent from my EVO using XDA
Nope. Haven't unlocked bootloader yet. It's gonna be tricky, too, I think. As you need a web connection. My XP with SDK and adb/fastboot doesn't have web.
But the PC i have access to with web DOESNT have the sdk set up (which it sounds like you need to accomplish the htcdev unlock).
I wish I could help and tell people how I finally got fastboot to work, but it was countless driver uninstalls and reinstalls and reboots (phone and PC), trips to bootloader. (While in bootloader, I saw different drivers in device manager than I saw while booted,...and I think this was a key clue for me. This is where I finally saw the Android 1.0 driver to update. Updated manually thru browsing files, and used the drivers from the root thread.
Also the usb-windows drivers from qbking77. Still not getting any USB storage action gggrrrrrrrr :banghead:

Since uninstalling HTC stuff fixed it, I wonder if disabling HTC Sync would have done it as well. I know it messes with ADB, so I'm wondering if it messes with Fastboot as well. Just a thought. Good job working through it though.
Yeah, I believe so. Also, I just remembered, when I was doing a driver update (turns out there's multiple ways to update drivers with the same result) in a little window before browsing for the driver, it showed my HTC 1.0.XX and my HTC 2.0.1XX and I believe I highlighted the my HTC 2.0.1XX then clucked "have disk".
I'll try to get a screenshot in a minute, if I can.
In the meantime, this weird headset looking icon (or hearing aid) showed up in my notification bar yesterday and I CANNOT figure out what the hell it is. I've been all through settings and just am stumped and feeling really stupid. Anyone know what this is?

JXD P1000 (previous P700). Can I root it?

Hello.
I have bought a JXD P1000 by eBay.
It works perfectly, but I can't associate my gmail account and no I have not access to the official google play.
I have read that I can solve it changing some parameters in ES Explorer (r-r-r), but I can do it ONLY if my device is root.
Is there any way to root it? does anyone have this device?
Thanks for any help.

Hey how is the device? How is the wifi speeds? I had a lesser known brand that over all worked pretty good but the wifi speeds were horrible. Download speeds capped at around .25 mbps! Not even close to 1mbps. Uploads were about double that. I hope its not the same with this one. Do you use a sim card on it?

Do not worry, we have a solution!!
Finally I entered the JXD website and I downloaded the latest firmware for the device.
Inside the file are the instructions to update the tablet and drivers to connect to the pc, but I did not work for me these drivers, so I had to look for other drivers on the Internet (I have no permissions to paste links, I have very few messages in this forum)
I hope this can help you. At least my JXD P1000 is already running at 100% with all Google applications.

I just followed the steps in the downloaded file (word document). It's very simple. Sure is better explained that if I try to explain, because my English is not good and it is possible that I confuse someone.
Only one possible problem ... If your pc does not detect the tablet with the drivers provided by JXD, then as I said, you have to look on the internet: Simply search on google "mt65xx android phone drivers"

I also have bought a JXD P1000 in Vietnam. It looks working almost perferctly except GPS.
Problem I had in using GPS is, the satellites are caught but the present location won't be fixed forever.
So google map doesn't show exactly where I am, and it's useless at this moment.
I found similar problems in tablets using MTK6877(?) posted in other bbs. MTK6877 is said to be a brother cpu to this MTK8377.
The solution introduced in that BBS was to put a file named GPS.prop(?) into under /system folder. But it needs root.
So, what I want to say is, are there anybody facing a similar GPS problem?
Or other help or suggestions are appreciated.

I just recieved mine and so far i like it. My gps wasnt working but i got it to work. My only problem right now is the wifi. Anybody having problems with the wifi with the tablet is in sleep mode. I changed the setting to always stay on but it keep breaking. The symbol is on but no internet connection is going through until i turn off wifi and turn it back on. So far i notice it when i leave it alone for a while, not instantly. I havent done the update yet and hopefully that fixes this problem but if it doesn't, anybody has any ideas. Im also trying a wifi lock app but doesnt seem to be working.

Well i havent downloaded any power saving apps. Well now the gps is spotty. It was working fine for a while but suddenly stopped. I used the gps status and tools app (i think thats how it is called). Also messed with the native gps settings. The wifi problem im having also happens when im using it as well. So basically at any moment it can happen. Very annoying.

I got the upgrade done yesterday. What i did is first connect the tablet to the computer, for the first time, and have it automatically install the drivers, once successful, i chose to install the ones provided in the upgrade file in the jxd website. I got an error saying it wasnt installed proerly on one of them but when i reconnected the tab it connected fine. So i decided to go on with the upgrade process from the word doc in the zip file. Pretty simple like the other person said on this thread, though i did try like 2-3 times before it began. Once it started was smooth sailing. The upgrade made the tab better. Gapps work fine, except i cant install google shopper for some reason. Everything else is pretty stock android with all the google services working. I have yet to see if the upgrade restores gps, so when i do test it out pretty well they ill give my results.
Update on my wifi problem: it seems it is only happening on my portable hotspot only. While on my home wifi it is solid good. When im out and about, it keeps disconnecting from my personal hotspot. Any ideas why that would be?

JXD P1000 - Purchased from Pandawill.com
Hello!
I am having same issues with Google Play, can't sync with or install Gmail. I was able to load the .apk file for Google Play but it fails to launch. Google maps and navigation will not work, and device is unable to determine my location. I was able to find .apk files on the net for Mozilla and Facebook and have those working, but I really need access to Google Play Store.
I was able to download the PC drivers from the JXD website, and now my Windows 7 PC will detect the device.
I tried to update the firmware from the JXD site but says that one of the files is not compatible.
Customer service at Pandawill is unable to resolve the situation and will not authorize a refund.
Is there a way to root this device or install any Google apps?
Mant thanks!

I cant say why it is not happening right but for you but i can briefly say what i did. I started by downloading the upgrade from the website. I then connected the tablet to the computer and let the system automatically install the drivers. After the sucessful notice i extracted the zip file i downloaded off the website. I installed the drivers from the file. Both driver folders. Both of them had an error after installing them but windows asked if i wanted to reinstall them (or fix the install) using there recommended method. I chose yes for both. Let it finish and whatever the result i closed it and continued ( dont remember if it came out ok or an error again). With all the errors in the beginning of installing the drivers in the folders i check to see if the computer would still recognize the device and surely it still did. Now i went in follow the instruction from the word document in upgrade section. One thing you will have to do i extract another file from within the folders. Its the same on that the instructions says to chose in the program, one of the first steps. Look for it and extract it or else you wont be able to choose it in the program itself. I had problems in the step where you had to turn off the device and connect the device to the computer via usb so the program can detect it. It didnt ork the first time, nor the second time when i disconnectednitnand reconnected it. i closed the program and restarted it. This time it detected it and i just continued as the instructions said. All came out fine with all of Google's services working including play store. Its full fledged tablet now and better then when i first recieved it.
I was having trouble with wifi connection ( internet connection) not sticking with my hotspot only but i think i got a way for it to work. I read that some tablets have similar problems. They were able to fix it by using a static ip instead of the dynamic one. I tried different ones until i found one that stuck. Now it stays connected all day. Its still under testing to see if it is a complete solution or temp fix. Though im liking the results. You with have to check the router settings to see the range of ip's it uses and just chose different one from in there. Thats the only thing i changed. Hope any of this helps as of right now there is no known root method's.

I purchased an AT&T sim card from Straight Talk to use with the JXD P1000. I am able to make phone calls and send/receive text messages, however, the data is extremely slow. Looks like I am only getting 2G speeds as the indicator light shows "E" for Edge.
Does anyone know of any settings to speed up the data? The device works great when connected to Wi-Fi, but I was hoping to use the sim card for data when Wi-Fi is not available.
Many Thanks!
