Hello, I performed the recommended upgrade from kies.
Then I rooted my phone for the third time (two previous were successful).
I followed the instructions from there: http://www.techjamaica.com/forums/s...ur-Galaxy-SII-by-a-2-day-old-Android-Newbie!& as per two previous times.
My phone now won't boot. It stays at the boot screen with the yellow exclamation point.
I tried to read relevant threads from here and the web. What I did is:
- removed the battery for 10 minutes, press the on-off button for some secs
- tried to connect it via Kies
- tried to connect it via Kies at download mode
- tried to re-root it via Odin (it said success but still cannot boot)
All above had no success. Now I am without mobile since early morning.
What else can I try to fix it?
Before rooting it, and immediately after the update, the phone was working.
Go to Recovery Mode and try Wipes...
Thanks. Will revert
ok I entered to recovery mode and wiped cache partition - nothing happened
should I wipe data/factory reset?
Ignore step 3 onwards and just flash a CF-root kernel matching your version. In other words, follow the instructions to root from this forum, not some random Jamaica tech forum.

1. Search before posting.
I have searched but I do not know which mode is best to install.
ΟΚ I did follow instructions exactly from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I rooted the phone successfully and I know it because now the recovery mode is different than the recovery mode before used the latest root.
However I still cannot boot. Should I hardware reset the device? Is this my only option?
Well nothing worked. I booted to "ClockwoorkMod Recovery v4.0.0.2" and deleted/wiped everything, even hardware reset it.
I am still stuck with the yellow exclamation mark. How is even possible that hardware reset doesn't working?
Please help.

If you wiped sd card then you wiped all firmware off the phone . It will now require a flash of stock rom via ODIN .

Thanks oinkylicious. I think I made it this time. Please don't be very strict as its the first time I am messing with my phone and I will ask you for more info.
Never mind I managed to root it. I learned a bit of stuff about android these two days lurking here.

Thank you in advance.
I just got my SGS2 back from repair today (stuck pixel) and I wanted to installe CM9. I thought I'd start with the latest CWM - the link was broken so I flashed CWM 4.0.0.8, which flashed fine.
When the phone rebooted, it sat in a loop doing nothing. I then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4, which also did not help. I attempted to wipe cache using CWM. A heap of errors scrolled down the screen. I thought I'd restore back to factory kernel and rom, which I did. I am still in bootloop and I have the following text on screen when I go to stock recovery

dunno...most likely you flash wrong rom without reading first...or your zip file not finished download....
check you file..name, actual size before flashing
I hadn't even gotten as far as flashing a ROM, to obtain root, I attempted to use CWM, that is when things went wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 try this even i got strucked like that wen i tried to flash custom rom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
That would work, but multiupload is busted
Wipe data/factory reset, clear cache.. The it will start a fresh.. Then re-root if needed.. Hope this helps
This post was most of the solution. After this, I could flash an old version of CMW that worked. Following that, I could flash cyanogen mod 9. Thanks to all

The CWM is not installed properly...your phone is not bricked.
Disable LG Virtual Modem in Device Manager and then your phone will be detected..Flash stock rom through kdz and then root.
Make sure the data is not switched off when downloading cwm (probably screen off = data off)
Dude relax this is heppen to me like 3-4 time.thats why i am not using rom manager to flash recovery.use lgmdp and flash recovery and flash any rom.and fellow all step and reinstall drive sometime phone detected.try 3-5 time and follow all steps.

Keep the phone switched off and try with lgmdp...it worked for me
It automatically turns on the phone and goes to emergency mode.don't even touch the phone until all the steps are done.

Hi I''ve done some hunting but cannot find any answers (apologies if there is).
This may be a newbie error so again apologies if I am just stupid.
I have a S3 on orange which I rooted using chainfire 6.2 tar via ODIN so I could get full use of Avast and all was fine until I plugged it into Kies and did the update Orange released a week or so ago (details in screen shot below) then a few days later it stopped recognising the external SD, I''ve tried 3 cards none work but are fine in my PC and Xoom.
To do the update I hid the root did the update then left it as was as thought stick to the stock working.
After a few factory re sets still nothing so got in contact with Orange who want the phone back as I'm the only person with this issue.
So then re rooted and downloaded Triangle away so I could reset the counter etc which it has except for removing the triangle???
Can anyone help as Orange are pestering for the phone and I know they'll discover I''ve been tinkering?
Can I just reflash the previous Orange ROM\firmware via ODIN to reset Status and get Tri away to work?

Hold up SGS3 does not have a triangle what phone have you .
jje
download mode always shows a triangle.
The app's name is from the Galaxy S2 who showed a Triangle on boot when it was not on stock, the S3 does not.
All you have is make sure that in Download mode the counter shows 0 or none and the booted phone doesn't read "modified" in Settings->About phone

Beg pardon thought user was referring to the triangle at boot not the download display .

when u run triangle away dont flash the rom.zip from cwm unzip it once so u get a tar/md5 file and flash the rom using odin or use these instructions from chainfires cf root thread

How to uninstall
This is by no means an extensive guide for unrooting, but if you want to sell or warranty your device, I advise the following procedure:
- Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counters, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Boot into recovery and perform a wipe, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Go to SamMobile and get the stock firmware for your region
- Flash that stock firmware on your device
- Let Android boot, go through device setup (without doing any logins) until Android is fully usable again
- Reboot
- Wait at least 10 minutes
- Check Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
- Perform another factory reset
- Boot into download mode and make sure the flash counter and system status are all set to official
Some of these steps may require further info, if you can't figure it out, do some more searching, or ask people who aren't me

Ahh right that all makes sense now.
All counters reset, status normal, binary no, all official, SD being read.
BUT now messaging doesn't work and it won't download the drivers to my PC.
At least now I can send it back.
Hi Everybody,
I was trying to install a new version of cyanogenmod that held kitkat, worked, but heres the problem. After installing the new rom i wanted to put a different kernel. This specific kernel I wanted was not compatible with kitkat, but i wasn't reading, so when it was booting up it was stuck at the Galaxy S Cyanogenmod booting screen. I turned it off and put the device in cwm recovery. I was going to put the right kernel for the device but the SD wound't mount. I looked for a solution, which led me to odin. When I started flashing the status was frozen at nand start write. So I stupidly unplugged it, so now I am greeted with a Phone+!+PC please help me!

Without seeing a picture of the screen, I'm going to have to assume the screen is a blue color with a picture of a computer on it.
If so, that's not a problem at all. That screen is basically the same thing as ODIN/Download mode.
With your device on that screen simply replug in your USB cable and reflash with ODIN.
If you could provide a picture of the screen, I could definitely say for sure that your device is good to go, or not.

If you're talking about this above, then do as Higgs_Boson said above. This is just a force download mode, and happens when you improperly flash something.

Hello there.
A couple of months back my friend was having trouble with her S3 and she had to reset e every couple of days. So I instructed her to install Cyanogenmod via the official installer. She did and it worked.
A few days back she told he it won't update and I guessed that it won't for the lack of CWM so I told her to get Rashr from the Play Store and flash a custom recovery, which she did successfully. Even though the phone wouldn't update anyway.
So last night she told me that her phone stopped booting up completely. When booting to recovery and trying to flash a zip through CWM doesn't work because it keeps telling her "E: no sd card" or something like that. Now she doesn't have an SD card, but my understanding is that this refers to the internal storage too. So why can't the recovery read it?
Furthermore I tried to get her to flash another recover via Odin, but Odin fails to flash

You can't you need odin to flash any stock rom not a recovery.
Can you still get into download mode? If so try to flash a full stock rom from Sammobile with odin if that fails try the emergency recovery here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6 <<
