I heard that it can't be rooted if ICS already exists? is this true?

Afaik it's not possible as the kernel is patched against mempodipper exploit.

As is, you can not root your tablet. However, you might want to take a look at stifilz's thread regarding a file that may (or may not) get you downgraded to a rootable US version of 3.2.1 which can be upgraded to a rooted version of 4.0.3 or 4.0.3r1a. After rooting, you can changed it to an India version. I'm guessing; you should discuss the post with stifilz.

I've got the same Tablet (clone of an EKEN W70 from efox) and in my case WM8850 Rootburner did the job.

Rootburner worked great for me as well.
Now im looking for different kernels and roms.
you found any kernels and roms?
For some reason i can't update my tablet! I run the system update and it keeps saying its already updated.
I connected it via usb to my pc and tried updating it with the pc companion but it wont recognize the tablet
I really want to update it to the new android jelly bean!

ALSO older tab does not get JB. ONLY XPERIA TAB

I purchased a Tf 201 from eBay and I discovered that it is running a ROM called AOKP on Android 4.0.4
I have unlocked the tablet but now I would greatly appreciate the possibility to upgrade the firmware to a more modern Android version (Jelly bean 4.3?) and also change the old ROM already installed
I have no idea how could I do it....should I upgrade first the firmware then the ROM ? Where can I get a new one for my tablet?
I am eagerly waiting for some tips on the way to solve this issue

i have a couple of questions regarding updating the tablet to the latest FW + root
can i just update the tablet via sony's update in PC companion and then flash again to get root, would this brick the tablet ?
where would my stock FW file be kept for me to download ?
do i even need to un-root then update then reflash ?
any help is much appreciated !
