[Q] importing contacts (not using gmail) - HTC EVO 3D

Hi!
I'm going to a convention soon and need to add about 20 people to my cell phone.
Is there a file I can type their info into and import it into my phone without using google contacts?
if so, how do I do this?

vCards
Well i know the Evo 3d can accept .vCard contacts. if you can make a .vCard contact file then you can just import it to your Evo 3d.

I just did a quick scan through Google search and there seem to be several apps out there where you just scan the business card through the app to add all information to your contacts . I'm sure you could find some lite app unless you wanted to pay prices ranged from 6-12

[Q] iPhone convert to Android

I'm sure this has been captured somewhere in the forums, but my futile searches didn't yield the results I was looking for.
I ordered the Galaxy S3 which should be on my doorstep this afternoon. I've been using iPhones since the 3G and this will be my first Android device. As such, I want to make sure I get most of the data off of my iPhone and onto my new Galaxy. Is there an app or easy means of transferring the following:
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Text Messages
- Pictures
For anyone else that has changed over from the iPhone, is there anything else I should be aware of in this process? Much appreciated! :good:
I switched awhile ago. I always had my contacts and calendar synced with Google so that makes that part very easy.
Im sure there is an easier way for pics then the way i did it..but I just copied the pics off my iphone to a folder on my desktop and then just copied them to my galaxy
Please search in the future.. But here you go.

I would suggest centering everything around a google account. If you can use iTunes to export your contacts and calendar to .csv or another standard format, you can import this list into the gmail account that you will be using for your GS3 - then just use the same account to log into the phone, sync, and voila. If you go to Gmail-Contacts-More-Import you should get a msg like this:
We support importing CSV files from Outlook, Outlook Express, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, Eudora and some other apps. We also support importing vCard from apps like Apple Address Book.

Without an sd card or similar removable media for the iPhone, I would go with cloud storage (Dropbox, box.net, Google Drive) for the upload/download of your pictures or other media. Good luck and welcome to Android! :highfive:

I saw that article the other day - kind of spurred on this question actually. My only issue with that utility is that is utilizes iTunes. I have despised iTunes since my original iPhone 3G. I ONLY used it when it was completely and totally necessary...
Presently, I have most of my stuff backed up to iCloud so I wonder if there is any other kind of solution that can pull my data off of that?

What do you have saved on iCloud? You can extract all your contacts off of the iCould address book and import it to google.

Looking for app to keep personality profiles of people that allows for custom fields

Looking for an app where i can create information on people i play against at poker. I want to be able to profile each player and have custom fields to which i can make a custom dropdown or have a text box. For example, want different fields for name, loose/tight, preflop, notes, etc etc. The only poker tracking app I ser that is close is poker agent, and in that most of the profile fields are for physical features. I cannot find a contact app that allows for custom named fields. Any help is appriciated.

Try a note app. Or maybe a better memory?

Also looking
I just spent 40 minutes looking for a way I could attach a personality profile, or a SWOT analysis to my contacts... No go. It would be great if I could call up a local mindmap (using mindjet or my Titanium-saved version of Thinking Space Pro) or file link that could open when they call, or open from the google contact..... I would pay money for it.
My memory could always use prompting

Will google delete my account?

I recently got sick of Google+ prompts when I log into certain google-hosted features.
I have had this account for many years, and finally change my name, and it "might be" obvious that it is not my "legal" name.
Has anyone had their account deleted that pays for google apps, and uses it on their Android(s)?
What happens to purchased app retrieval, if this is the case? Switch to Amazon with a new e-mail account, and not give google another penny to track you?
Why are you concerned about Google tracking you? Serious question.

I am not worried about the tracking, or I would not be using a Smartphone, it's all about the monkey-wrenching and not part of the database.
(Most people don't even know how many thousands of data-points they collect every day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NObTjstI6f4 Part two is even more interesting.)

I never had news of this subject ... already tried support?
I have a plenty of friends on G+, and 90% of them is NOT using their real name.
While they got some warnings about that, all they did was changing their fake name to another fake name. I never seen any of my friends getting banned for that.
And also, I don't think that your whole account will get suspended, I think that the only thing you won't be able to access will be G+. But I am not 100% sure on that.

Adding Locations in Maps

Was wondering if anyone knew how to add new places to Maps. I some how have work and Home in my phone as locations that I can use in Calendar events which works great with Google Now but I want to add school and my friends house so on and so forth. Problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out how I added the other two? Does anyone know how to save locations in the Maps app and name them in order to get Google now to give me transportation suggestions and bus times? Answers much appreciated
Home and Work are the only two locations able to be set in the app like that.
You can I the browser however make custom locations that your app will see and allow you to use in G.N.
Well that kinda sucks lol.

Log into google maps in your browser and create starred locations and they will be picked up in Maps

[Q] BeanStalk no MS Live account

Over the last month or so I've jumped into the "Rooted" world and the benefits of customizing my phone with different ROMs!!! - So i'm an official NOOB
I've installed MeanBean on both my EVO 3D and my EVO LTE. I use my LTE as my daily and it worked great with the exception of text-to-type, which acted like it did when it was first introduced (useless). In an effort to find a good ROM with that working and a higher aesthetic appeal, I flashed BeanStalk. I really like it! One big frustration is the accounts and contacts. It doesn't allow me to store a contact on the phone only. It just allows creating one in my Google account. More importantly, I cannot initiate an account for Windows Live. It says, "This account type is no longer valid. Please go to Settings>Account to add a new Microsoft account." Of course that is where I am when I'm trying to add it so there seems to nothing I can do to correct it.
As a Noob, I'm desperately in need of your higher knowledge. Please help if you're able.
Thanks!
Answer plus Question.
Okay, it took me sleeping on it to realize the "duh." So the only contact manager that is installed in BeanStalk is the pure Google Contacts. Of course this will not allow me to store local (phone only), contacts; nor will it allow me to sync with MS or FB or any other contact repository without adding them to Google.
QUESTION: Do you know of a contact app that is similar to the HTC Sense People app (that would be ideal), that will do the above?
Thanks.
