Sprint LTE coverage in Chicago with Evo 4G LTE - HTC EVO 3D

So if I get the new and shiny Evo 4G LTE in Chicago, does that mean that it will run on a pathetic 3G network by Sprint?
When is LTE coming to Chicago? Is there going to be a premium data fee for less than premium data speed?
Do you think AT&T's One X is a much better option? High speed 3G+ and a growing LTE network on AT&T seems very tempting.
Am I missing something with Sprint's Evo 4G LTE?

You're in one of the phase 1 cities so Sprint LTE will be a short wait for you.
Plus you get the SD card slot, Shutter button, Kickstand, HD Voice & unlimited data. You won't get that on the AT&T One X.
The One X on AT&T looks better, has global support & the 3G is faster.
It depends on what you prefer.

Rezound 4g lte question

I am currently with us cellular and have the samsung aviator. us cellular is the only 4g lte carrier in my area and will be the only one for a long time. I love the 4g lte speeds, its crazy fast, but the phone leaves a lot to desire. My question is, if I buy the rezound out right, and put the 4g lte sim card into the rezound, will it be able to use the us cellular towers and their frequencies?
Thanks in advance
I don't think it's that easy.
I'm pretty sure it's not that easy.
I'm also sure there's some tinkering with the data settings you'd have to do, assuming their SIM even fits in the Rezound.
Good chance the frequencies they use for lte are different too, so I highly doubt it, but unless the Samsung you have uses a micro sim, the sim card will fit just fine, they've been the same for years.

The LTE network isn't the same frequency. Just wait until Verizon has 4g in your area.

3g speeds in Houston vs. forced roaming

I think pictures speak better than words. forced roaming on cricket

Sad haha, cricket is garbage, doesn't say much about sprint.

At $55 a month you can't complain Works great for me on 3g and I use WiFi at home.

Cricket has surprisingly good 3g speed, especially in comparison to Sprint's 56k dial-up modem speeds. Considering I get full Sprint coverage, the smiley is for the fact I can FORCE ROAMING to get the speeds I deserve to be getting with Sprint.
People really need to read the manual prl thread

I know on Sprint you have about a 200mb data limit roaming which would make me not want to force it. Is that the same for cricket? I'd hate to be thinking about that all the time.
How do you know you are on cricket roaming and not verizon or another cdma carrier? Also what is the app you are using in your screen shots that shows the connection speeds, etc?
Wow your cricket speeds area really bad. Here is mine with the latest cricket prl and 2 bars and not roaming

Verizon Network

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if the HTC Evo 4G LTE would work on the verizon network.
I really like the phone, I just don't like Sprint...
I also haven't been able to find any verizon phone that is comparable to the HTC Evo 4g LTE.
Anyways thanks for your help!
You can force your phone to roam to there 3g towers, but I hear that eventually after so much roaming...sprint will kick u off their network. As for 4g lte, their frequency is 700 (or 800 can't remember exactly) and sprints is 1900, so that's just not compatible.

Att signal ?s

Has anyone seen there att one x + pick up 3g ? I ask because I have never seen mine say 3g only lte 4g edge g-for gprs but that's it. I don't want to be on 3g for good but it would be nice if my phone would connect to 3g in areas where I only get edge or gprs and a iPhone sitting next to me has 3g why is this ? Any ideas ?

Could just be the indicator doesn't change. I have a 3g microcell in my house (long story) which I don't believe is even 4g capable and my HOX+ still says its 4g. Doesn't really bother be either way, I still get better signal strength than I did with my iPhone 4.

Us Haas thinkin 4g and 3g ate the same since 4g is just 3.75 3g w/ enhanced backhaul. So pretty Much any time I see 4g symbol its really a 3g tower just all of them in my area have backhaul so I never see 3g symbol.
Please correct me if im wrong

The 4g is a 3g back hauled hspa+ system it gives better speed than reg 4 g its marketing I assure you but most likely 4g. Is the back hauled hspa+
remember the HTC inspire 4g and the galaxy s2 both had the 4g hspa+ radios and it was marketed as 4g

Marketing Signal Indicators
I can confirm that in my area with a Nexus 4, the phone will switch between H (3G) and H+ (4G) AT&T HSPA and HSPA+. With the One X+ however, it will only display 4G LTE, 4G, and E. Also, Viper XL+ lets you flash the stock international signal indicators which display LTE, H+, H, and E in my area. The decision to only include the 4G HSPA signal indicator is most likely a marketing decision.

LTE TDD?

I found this article online and was wondering whether this will help our Evos and its infamous 4G connectivity problem: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...ith-att-and-verizons-coverage-and-performance
Our phone doesn't have the required hardware to work on those frequencies, there are no devices as of now that can download that other than the newest hotspots that will be or was just released, somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

Nope you're correct. Only hotspots for now, with handsets coming in the future. I'm excited to see this happening.

I, too, take this as good news. While this might not help our current devices in any way, at least I know that my next device in 2yrs should have pretty awesome service by that time.
And with the increase in network speed, I'm hoping that more customers migrate/return to Sprint, and ensuring that we keep truly unlimited data. Not unless they get greedy...

Sounds interesting, but I remember thinking the same thing 2 years ago... I really want to give Sprint the benefit of the doubt but it's tough when my wife is getting 30 mbps down with at&t while I'm lucky to get 3 sitting right next to her. It kinda defeats the purpose of having unlimited data if you're limited in what you can do with it.

Good news. I hope the future HTC M8 will take advantage of Sprint's new LTE TDD.
I never got Wimax, haven't even heard of LTE coming to my city and they're already moving to the next thing? I may never see 4G

Almost every single tower in the country will get 1900MHz LTE. The TDD LTE came out of the Clearwire acquisition and won't effect the rollout of the LTE that your phone can use.
TDD LTE will have higher speeds but a much shorter range, and is designed to compliment, not replace, the 1900 (and eventually 800) MHz LTE.

That is a VERY VERY long time away, especially for sprint. Hell, I don't even think verizon has done that yet, although they have done most

Actually, 90-95% of all the towers will have 1900 CDMA/LTE by end of 2014-Q12015 along with 800 CDMA/LTE and 2.5 LTE. Network will have the highest throughput of all operators.

Where did you learn this?
Also, about 3mo ago I saw 4g pop up on my signal and about shat, but if I moved out of my kitchen it was gone. Now, it seems to be everywhere. Wimax has been everywhere here (Everett Wa.) about 2yrs . Good for you sprint.
