hi,
ever since upgrading to d4 rom (cm9) on my SGS II a strange battery drain occurs. (before that i was on android 2.3.6)
after reading a few threads i installed betterbatterystats but i really don't know how to interpret the results.
i posted in the xda betterbatterystats thread but since i got no response there i'm trying it here - could anybody please help me?
thanks

i'm already using siyah kernel 3.2 beta2 and i got audible touch etc turned off, gps is turned off too
I haven't looked at your stats, but I do know since I am on d4 rom as well there is some battery drain. Its mostly down to the kernel though, and not the developers fault (normally)
I recommend you upgrade to siyah 3.2b6 which has been serving me just fine with around 3.5 hours screen time.
Edit: oh and I see you had no signal for awhile, that drains a lot of battery.

Hi guys, im using the latest litening rom on my galaxy s2 - i didnt really use the stock rom, because ... you know ...
However, i installed it and i was suprising how fast the battery went gone!
Maybe i did something wrong... but i installed the rom over the stock rom as told on the litening thread! the kernel was installed with the rom!
since then ive tried many things and the speedmod kernel. ive also read some posts about the litening rom, about some users having really good battery life!
Am i doing something wrong? did i forget anything? does the kernel do a big diffrence? what baseband should i use?
I am using only Wlan and some games! Ive tried freezing apps flashing other kernels and some other things!
PLEASE HELP ME! i dont know what to do!

Ok i locatet a problem! a game called 'virtual playground took about 50% life! but i want to know what i can do in general to revent the draining!
i always keep wifi bluetooth and gps off. no backgroundapps and no widgets!
is there a good kernel to use with liteningrom that saves energy? i heard much about the speedmod and nympetamine - or what the hell its called - wich one is better? and does the bandbase effect the battery life in any way?

Stop using the phone if you want the battery to stop draining. If you have, and it still does (rapidly), look into BetterBatteryStats to find what's waking your phone.
Hello guys. I have installed cyanogenmod9 with Siyah kernel on my galaxy s2 and I already got one problem. The battery drains very fast.. I got no 3g/wifi/gps/bluetooth activated, no live wallpapers, just 3 homescreens with minimum of widgets, no applications running in background and I set the max freq for the cpu to be 1000MHZ.. And it still drains very fast..
These are the exactly files i got on my phone:
Siyah-v3.0rc1-CWM
cm-9-20120330-ODIN-galaxys2.tar
Could you please help me fix this?
Cheers!
Install BetterBatteryStats, let the phone run for 8-10 hours (use it normally or let it run overnight; whenever you're seeing the drain basically). Then have a look at the BetterBatteryStats thread on here.
This will enable you to pin down any wakelocks which are chewing thru your CPU (If it is indeed wakelocks causing the drain). If necessary, you might be able to post some screenshots/info to that thread & maybe the guys who post there regularly can give you some help with it.
Edit to add - For starters, personally speaking, I'd update to the latest CM9 nightly while you're at it (09/04). They're always making little improvements/changes.
thank you very much! i have installed that program, now I will do how you said and then I will post some screenshots in the thread. Thanks!
No probs If you find you do have wakelocks/post to the BBS thread & you don't get a response after a day or so, post the details here & I'm sure people will be able to help.

I would strongly suggest using Siyah v3.0.1Beta1
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/
and dont usee that build of CM9 as that is the Resurrection edition. Download the latest CM9 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2
0904 is the latest.
make sure your wipe cache and dalvik cache.
put on cm9 first, then Siyah, then wipe, reboot.

Did u follow all of the procedure to install cm9 ?
I'm quite sure u did something wrong, I managed to flash it right the noob way and updated to the latest build.
I'm getting amazing battery life with 3g/data/sync on all the time 1.5 to 2 days from 100 to 1%
Re-do it the right way and Cal the battery, hope that helps with getting started... if u still can't get a day from ur phone come back here and I'll help as much as possible... Good luck

I will update the rom and kernel with those that toxic presented me.
I have installed 2 roms on the telephone now. How do I wipe the bad one(the first one)?
Ok, i installed the rom that toxic gived here and when i try to boot the second room the telefon freezes. I need to take the battery off...
I installed it in recover mode from external_sd, along with siyah kernel and gapps..
Could you tell me how to wipe it and install just one good rom on my phone?
Thanks for the suggestion, ill take a look at that thread as well.

u cant compare it immediately...
please go ahead with a calibration of the batt and after recharging once/twice compare the battery usage with ur current bad usage
make sure u cancel the useless options that suck up the battery, there's a thread regarding this as well, it helps trust me...
Which is exactly why I gave you a simple (possible) solution in the first instance.
Which you were obviously too impatient to try given it involved installing an app, letting it run for half a day or so then reading a thread on here/posting some info to that thread to get some answers.
Installing a new rom was overkill. If you weren't prepared to go down the BBS path with your existing setup, you only needed to flash the latest CM9 nightly, do a clear cache/Dalvik & again let it go for a day or so to see if that fixed things. And then you could have done the BBS thing with the latest CM9 nightly installed if necessary.
believe me i didnt want to install a second rom.. i just wanted to replace the old one..
i will do the thing with batterystats and then i will revive this thread and tell you the "news".
Thanks for everything.
no wakelock overnight. the battery dropped just 1 percent.. i am using it for 20 mins. 3 sms, 3 mins of talking and 3 mins of wireless. in 20 mins the battery dropped from 99 to 95 now.
OK looks normal/ similar to my usage in that amount of time... keep on testing, good luck

Are you talking about some kind of notification when you receive a message? This phone doesn't have a notification LED. So you need either BLN + a kernel that supports it, or install the NoLED app. Either one will affect your battery performance though.
When you receive a message, on every phone, the screen wakes up. Mine doesnt, do you understand what i am saying?
Thanks for the reply!

Install Better Battery Stats from the play store and see what's causing the battery drain. The phone isn't going into deep sleep because of wakelocks. See which app is responsible for this.

Ill try it on him for now and see. He is blaming me for the battery issue coz I forced him to update his phone to ICS.
Flash stock ICS again and wipe data.
ICS gives less battery backup compared to GB.
Turn off WIFI/2G/3G/GPS after you use them. Download Better battery stats.. see if you have partial wake lock due to some app!!
4hrs of backup can only be due continuous gaming or 3G.. it drains battery!!

Try a custom kernel, I recommend Speedmod or Siyah.
Irrespective of the Rom you are running, the kernel and modem have most impact on battery life

Ok guys a quick update. I installed Cpuspy and betterbatterystat and found that phone goes in deepsleep very well. No app causing wakeups. So is flashing a new kernal the only option now?
Ok planning to put in SiyahKernel S2-v4.1.2 kernal. Any issues with it as in known bugs?
I'm surprised that no app is responsible for such terrible battery life. Usually its the Network Locator by Google maps or the the GTalk sync that causes the problem.
Anyway if you're sure its not any apps fault flashing a new kernel is the only way to go. As Jokey recommended, try Siyah or Speedmod.

Explanation:
-flashing a custom kernel has nothing to do with apps
-What kills battery most in stock kernel apart from apps and radios is the kernel - worker and fuel alert wakelock.
-in your own case since no apps is causing wakelock, then a kernel can be of help.
My advise:
-If you are presently satisfied with your battery life, then there it's no need to flash any more thing
-If you are sure no apps drain your battery, but still not satisfied with your battery, monitor that,
i. 2G network saves more battery than 3G, 4G
ii. Turning off Bluetooth, GPS, Autosync, Wi-Fi, Network location (under settings-location), App notification and Google ads in Google playstore settings, saves a lot of power.
-Connecting to a Wi-Fi network saves much more power than using mobile data
-If after trying all the steps above, you are still not satisfied with your battery, then you might have to flash a custom kernel.
-Most custom kernels save much more power than the stock kernel
i. Speedmod kernel gives relatively best battery life if you don't want to change anything. This may be good for you as a beginner.
ii. Siyah, Dorimanx and dream kernels give great customisation.
Hope you find this post helpful enough.
If you have more questions,do let me know.
Good luck

Hey.
I have recently become a victim of this issue. The issue is my phone becomes unreliable before 50% charge mark. It reboots at any given time as long as it is down to less than 50%. I am currently running leaked LSJ with Philz Kernel. I have bought a new battery and it is giving the same results so if anyone has any sort of suggestion please post em. I am really worried about my phone right now.
Thanks.

As far as i know Philz Kernel has some issue. I am on stock 4.1.2 not rooted, i had battery drain issue. i did following to control the battery drain, so far 24+hrs with 3hr on display:
1. use phone till it shuts off and no battery even to poweron, then charge it to 100% (experience from ICS 4.0.4)
2. settings -> wifi -> advanced -> network notification - uncheck (came across in one of the thread in general section)
3. disabled google now and auto sync + other usual battery saving tips
hope this helps.
Time to go Stock and see if the issue remains, just for kicks to see if your dealing with a faulty chip. Then you can flash philz again.
I would flash the JB leak stock kernel and calibrate your battery with BatteryCalibration app ( that's what i did and i'm on 88 % 15 hs 45 mins)
For the draining problem you can look into this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016419
try this app and follow the instructions given in this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en
reset battery gauge
try resetting you battery fuel gage. install an ew kernel and reset uor battery meter this should solve the isse unless your battery has some discharge issues.

You cant because Siyah and Dorimanx don't support xxlsj firmware jet, just Philz for now.
EDIT: Sory for the misleading Dorimanx support it half, see this post
Do not use battery calibration app or reset furl gauge, best way I reckon is this method:

Hi All,
Does somebody has problems with the battery on Disaster V.8 ROM? I tried this very smooth ROM also with the Jeboo kernel included in the ROM, then the Jeboo 1.3, and now I'm on Philz v.4.22. Also I have tried Siyah kernel v.1.8.9 but it doesn't worked at all, installation aborted (error message: status 7)
On first Jeboo kernel the battery drain was very fast, about 9-10 hours, a little bit better 12-14 hour on the Jeboo1.3.
On Philz is better, about 20 hours. Maybe I have to set something on my phone or try another kernel, some suggestions maybe? :good:
I know there are a few apk's which can increase the battery life, but I'm searching for a good and finally solution.
BTW, when I was on Disaster ROM v.6 I have no problem with the battery life.

Unfortunately I didn't find a good solution, I read on the Disaster thread that this issue was also mentioned by a few Disaster user.
One of the solution is to change kernel which I already done, so still waiting for an answer maybe from Mirko (the Disaster developer) itself.
Or I will wait for the v.9 maybe the problem will be fixed with that kernel.
Anyway thanks for your answer.
