Hey.
I have recently become a victim of this issue. The issue is my phone becomes unreliable before 50% charge mark. It reboots at any given time as long as it is down to less than 50%. I am currently running leaked LSJ with Philz Kernel. I have bought a new battery and it is giving the same results so if anyone has any sort of suggestion please post em. I am really worried about my phone right now.
Thanks.

As far as i know Philz Kernel has some issue. I am on stock 4.1.2 not rooted, i had battery drain issue. i did following to control the battery drain, so far 24+hrs with 3hr on display:
1. use phone till it shuts off and no battery even to poweron, then charge it to 100% (experience from ICS 4.0.4)
2. settings -> wifi -> advanced -> network notification - uncheck (came across in one of the thread in general section)
3. disabled google now and auto sync + other usual battery saving tips
hope this helps.
Time to go Stock and see if the issue remains, just for kicks to see if your dealing with a faulty chip. Then you can flash philz again.
I would flash the JB leak stock kernel and calibrate your battery with BatteryCalibration app ( that's what i did and i'm on 88 % 15 hs 45 mins)
For the draining problem you can look into this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016419
try this app and follow the instructions given in this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en
reset battery gauge
try resetting you battery fuel gage. install an ew kernel and reset uor battery meter this should solve the isse unless your battery has some discharge issues.

You cant because Siyah and Dorimanx don't support xxlsj firmware jet, just Philz for now.
EDIT: Sory for the misleading Dorimanx support it half, see this post
Do not use battery calibration app or reset furl gauge, best way I reckon is this method:

i'm already using siyah kernel 3.2 beta2 and i got audible touch etc turned off, gps is turned off too
I haven't looked at your stats, but I do know since I am on d4 rom as well there is some battery drain. Its mostly down to the kernel though, and not the developers fault (normally)
I recommend you upgrade to siyah 3.2b6 which has been serving me just fine with around 3.5 hours screen time.
Edit: oh and I see you had no signal for awhile, that drains a lot of battery.

Hi
Last night i installed the [ROM][AOSP][JB][4.1.1][STABLE] SuperNexus - I9300 - BUILD 1 on my Galaxy S3 device and i noticed my battery is draining out like crazy. Cell Standby and Screen are using more than 40% each.
When i was using Ice Cream Sandwich i had the same problem but after installing the battery fix it all worked so tried the fix on JB and nothing.
Is there any other fix or solution for this?
Thanks.

That is not repeat not a battery fix if you read the post it fixes a misreported figure only .
battery drain is user start with Better Battery Stats and look for wakelocks .
Battery requires five days use from flashing a new rom .
jje
Screen will always use 40%+ unless you aren't using your phone.

Running the same build myself and experienced an 18% drop last night on standby with Wi-Fi on over 7 hours, i have flashed the latest Siyah kernel update today and ive every confidence this will increase battery life as when i checked the kernel wakelocks this morning the wakelocks were big, the CM kernel i believe is the main culprit in this instance.
Also take into consideration any apps / widgets you have which update and any sTuff you rarely or never use freeze in Titanium backup and also go into advanced in Wi-Fi and set to never or only when plugged in and this will make a difference.
And finally don't use Juice Defender or any other battery saving apps as they use up more battery than they save!

I installed syiah kernel s3-v1.5beta5 over CWM yesterday and still no change, Cell Standby is now using 70% while screen dropped to 7%. I will
now try to disable all automatic updates.
After installing [ROM][AOSP] [4.1.1] Liquid JellyBean Beta 1.1 battery works pretty good without even installing kernel 1.5beta4.
Cell standby dropped to 37% and Screen to 27%
I must say this ROM works faster and adds a few cool options for personalization.

- I recommend you to go to stock or modified ICS , simply functioning Roms and stable .
- JB you can flash it just for fun , still under construction and testing , can't litterly judge it .
You may want to try different modems. Cell standby is mostly not influenced by the ROM but your reception and the flashed modem.

Install Better Battery Stats from the play store and see what's causing the battery drain. The phone isn't going into deep sleep because of wakelocks. See which app is responsible for this.

Ill try it on him for now and see. He is blaming me for the battery issue coz I forced him to update his phone to ICS.
Flash stock ICS again and wipe data.
ICS gives less battery backup compared to GB.
Turn off WIFI/2G/3G/GPS after you use them. Download Better battery stats.. see if you have partial wake lock due to some app!!
4hrs of backup can only be due continuous gaming or 3G.. it drains battery!!

Try a custom kernel, I recommend Speedmod or Siyah.
Irrespective of the Rom you are running, the kernel and modem have most impact on battery life

Ok guys a quick update. I installed Cpuspy and betterbatterystat and found that phone goes in deepsleep very well. No app causing wakeups. So is flashing a new kernal the only option now?
Ok planning to put in SiyahKernel S2-v4.1.2 kernal. Any issues with it as in known bugs?
I'm surprised that no app is responsible for such terrible battery life. Usually its the Network Locator by Google maps or the the GTalk sync that causes the problem.
Anyway if you're sure its not any apps fault flashing a new kernel is the only way to go. As Jokey recommended, try Siyah or Speedmod.

Explanation:
-flashing a custom kernel has nothing to do with apps
-What kills battery most in stock kernel apart from apps and radios is the kernel - worker and fuel alert wakelock.
-in your own case since no apps is causing wakelock, then a kernel can be of help.
My advise:
-If you are presently satisfied with your battery life, then there it's no need to flash any more thing
-If you are sure no apps drain your battery, but still not satisfied with your battery, monitor that,
i. 2G network saves more battery than 3G, 4G
ii. Turning off Bluetooth, GPS, Autosync, Wi-Fi, Network location (under settings-location), App notification and Google ads in Google playstore settings, saves a lot of power.
-Connecting to a Wi-Fi network saves much more power than using mobile data
-If after trying all the steps above, you are still not satisfied with your battery, then you might have to flash a custom kernel.
-Most custom kernels save much more power than the stock kernel
i. Speedmod kernel gives relatively best battery life if you don't want to change anything. This may be good for you as a beginner.
ii. Siyah, Dorimanx and dream kernels give great customisation.
Hope you find this post helpful enough.
If you have more questions,do let me know.
Good luck

The ROM doesnt have an update because the devs have removed it because you just flash an update. As for the battery drain give it a few more days if the problem persists try another ROM. If it still persists after that try recalibrating the battery or resetting the fuel gauge chip.
Hope this helps

Hi,
NeatROM 3.5 is one of the best ROMs from battery backup perspective. And I can say that because I am using it since 3.5 came out and have never had any issues.
For a better battery life, follow the steps from the link,

Please note that the instructions are prepared to get the most out of your battery. Even if you follow the few ones that you are comfortable with, you will surely see some improvement.

Its simple mate. Just download an app and hit a button.
Usually battery drain is due to one of two things.
-Phone not going into deep sleep
-Wakelocks.
Download an app like CPU spy. you can use it to see whether or not your phone is going into deep sleep like it should. Also, use better battery stats to look for wakelocks. Download the app from HERE , let it run for one battery cycle and then check for wakelocks. If you dont know what those are, spend some time reading that thread.
But if you want to hold off for a couple of days, you can do that. It does take some time for a phone battery to settle when a new rom/kernel has been installed, after which battery life tends to improve.

Thank you very much for your help mate. I've tried a couple of battery managers off play (juice defender and another one). Right now kind of regretting this download, everything seems to be going wrong;
1. battery is draining @ 15% in 20 mins ( I only bought the battery last week after having the phone unlocked).
2. there's a lot of lag
3. screens keep freezing and
4. keep losing reception and constantly having to restart phone.
I only downloaded this cause after unlocking my phone it failed to update. Is there any other that I can download that works well with SGS2?
There's no dearth of ROMs for the i9100 dude. Try a couple out and see if those help. If its stability you're after, maybe use an ICS Rom rather than JB.
15% in 20 mins isn't normal even for a first day..you sure it isn't a faulty battery right? Was it giving decent life before you switched to this ROM?
Try downloading a calibration app and see what the voltage is when it says its charged 100%. Should be around 4100-4200 mAh.
As for the lags and freezes, did you wipe data, cache etc before you installed this Rom?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I had cleared the cache in settings before installing. Like I said, my first time doing this. Seemed straight forward at the time.
Since my phone is unlocked, will it return to ics4.0.3 which is what I had before?
Battery calibration app is showing 4161mv.
Will a factory reset help?
Thanks for all the help, site can be a bit confusing sometimes lol.

Cache from settings? No. I meant clearing cache from the CWM recovery menu. If you installed the ROM via CWM, that is.
If you did, I'd suggest reinstalling it again via cwm this time clearing data, cache and dalvik cache.
Ok..I just realised I totally assumed you'd installed it using CWM. Not sure if you did.
You can return to 4.0.3 if you want. Download stock firmware from sammobile.com and install it via Odin. I'm sure there's a guide on how to do that somewhere on this site.
Just noticed someone posted instructions on maximising battery. Did you use those? It could explain the freezes if they started after that. Some phones just can't handle undervolting etc.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Morning, I downloaded some battery managers and seems to be working better and faster. Battery discharged 27% in 5 hours.
Will see how it goes over the next couple of days.
Teaches me a lesson to do my research first lol.
Below is a screen shot of the apps I installed.
Thanks and gave a great day!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Haha that's a lotta apps just to save battery. As long as it helps eh? 27% in 5 hours is pretty acceptable for moderately heavy use. Depends on your signal strength and whether you're using data or on WiFi etc.

Hello guys,
I'm a little bit desperate with my battery. One month ago I updated from ICS to JB in my s2 i9100 and the horrible loop started:
- Between 100-70% of charge everything is going more or less ok
- Suddenly, phone turns off. After restarting, the battery is around 40% and very unstable
- Now it's even worse, without charger, the phone remains up only 15-20 minutes.
I tried EVERYTHING:
- All the roms for JB (all versions of RR, Paranoid Android) with all the combination of Kernels (CM10, Siyah and Dorimanx)
- Go back to ICS (of course, for every ROM I give to the phone 2-3 days to stabilise it)
- Battery calibration tools of the play store (even I paid 3$ for one of them)
- Battery calibration without being ROOT (the trick of this thread did not work. I tried 3 times)
- Reset fuel gauge chip from the ex-Tweaks
...
Any other idea/clue?
I'm about to give up, I think I'm going to get a new battery. I prefer to pay 15-20$ than spending hours trying to figure it out.
The last question. I'm assuming that a brand new battery will fix this problem. Am I right? I'm afraid of buying a new battery and facing the same issue.
If I get a new one I am supposed to do some operation on the phone before to install it?
Currently I'm using RR 3.1.1 with dorimanx kernel.
Thank you very much in advance!*
You guys do an AWESOME job with this forum.
