Curious to hear from the people that are still s-on and flashed the new ICS leak, how is your phone running? Are there any problems youve run into?

I tried it. Major change was an updated kernel. Reverted back to BAMF 2.1 with the previous kernel, as it didnt play well with the change. I'm just waiting for the roms to either be rebased or the OTA to be released. No radio changes only an updated hboot and a few fixes in the rom itself.
Would you run it over the gb rom the phone comes with as a daily driver?

Mine loves the new radios, so yes. For most users; they have experienced issues with the radios. My suggestion; s-off before flashing either the old or new leak. That way if you do experience said issues, you will be able to rollback. Also, brings up the thought of being OTA compliant, but that shouldn't matter much as most of the devs here would hve a working rom based off the OTA shortly after.

Quite honestly, I don't notice a difference one way or another. This leak was played better with my phone regarding mounting and recovery issues I had on the first ICS leak, but that is more an individual issue I had. As far as signal and reception , I think it is just the fact where I live all of the radios have been the same for me. I am in a rural area of wisconsin with just 3G, so haven't benefitted from 4g or difference in signal strength.
In my opinion, it's easier to s off than to flash the new firmware using the s on method and relocking bootloader and then upgrading then reunlocking and installing recovery and a rooted rom. Also, I've helped about the same amount of people with both. For some crazy reason even though the software seems a breeze to me, people get confused with so many steps I guess, and people who are performing s off and ask me to watch over their shoulder are having much better results than upgrading the firmware.

Lets face it. The new radio sucks horribly. The leaked Rom is very bad as well. Countless problems for almost everyone. Has anyone extracted the gps drivers? I would kill to go back to the 2.17 sprint rom with the gps added on.
Won't work you need the new radio, and rom.
Mine is working without any problems, and the radio is great.

well, the new radio is a BETA after all. and i havent had any problems with it. The new radio is what enables the GPS in the phone, and the 3.16 based roms have the drivers that are needed for gps. so these go hand in hand. you need em both for gps.

No problems for me, works great and couldn't be happier with everyones work on getting the GPS and Rev A to work. I appreciate all the work that people are putting in to get all this going. I guess you'll just have to wait until your carrier releases their updated ROM with GPS enabled, maybe that will be less problematic for you.
I am betting when this is released there will be a newer radio, this is a beta and the radio is at least a couple of months old, I am sure they have done some tweaking since then, at least if they are seeing the same issues one would hope they have tweaked a bit more here and there.
Same goes for the rom piece of it it is an old beta as well they are both 2 months old, so whatever Sprint and/or HTC has been doing for the past 2 months is unknown.
You Sprint folks should all be happy to me it seems Sprint is the only provider that gives half a rats ass. On Telus the last rom came out back in the beginning of July and none of the other Canadian providers that carry this phone have provided any updates whatsoever.
As Fallingup said this is a beta and the issues we are seeing from the radio patch exhibit normal BETA behavior...
Hell even HTC is convinced the Radio isn't ready for Primetime and keep delaying the release! That says to me they have hit some roadblocks they are having trouble dealing with.
It would not surprise me at all if HTC consciously decided to leak this radio so that the community could take a crack at solving those issues and give them some ideas on how to fix the patch.
I am hoping someone in the community is looking at this beta version of radio and looking for ways to improve that....
Cause I'm betting the second someone can tweak that radio to work well, HTC will take that file and use it as a roadmap for an official release!

Some people have terrrible issues. Some have none at all. I have no problems at all. This is the best set up I have had. I am using the new Radio and Bootloader with a variation of DCD 2.2.0 ROM. Working great. What specific ROM are you using?

the actual results are somewhere in between...the ones with zero issues either don't use data connect extensively or haven't really run everything through it's paces. How could they the ROM is only a day old! LOL
Others just have issues with the 6.1 OS and still others have issues just flashing. The latter is simply user error and that will always be there no way around that. You have to know those issues will show up even if the perfectly stable ROM gets released.
The Radio is IMO definitly not ready for prime time. between the BT issues, Data Connect and the problem of having to prime the GPS before a navigation software like TomTom can use it there will have to be another update to the radio ROM before we can be sure we gain GPS capability without losing anything else...
Right now Radio appears to be a bit of a tradeoff as opposed to a simple feature addition.
Once an official (as opposed to leaked) radio comes out I think all the REAL problems people are having will go away.

As far as I know nobody here on XDA Dev has actually tweaked a Radio. People put together firmware files from other stuff, and bundle them all together, but to actually fix and recompile a radio file goes much deeper than anyone here handles.
I have had only one problem running dcd 2.10 and 2.20. I have run critically low on memory once. This has never happened before.
But as for the radio and OS, I think my call quality is noticably better than with the stock rom or any of dcd's 1.x rom/radio setups that I have tested.
Oh, just FYI, I'm in Utah. I wonder if the radio issues have to do with a difference in radio hardware on the towers in New Jersey.
After reading for several days and hearing the good the bad and the ugly I opted for the straight leaked rom. No unlocking and all that.
Well so far so good. GPS works, RevA not a real difference so far
Fairly stable. Happy with my beta software until the official release

Yup, me too.
As a matter of fact, I'm not going to go to DCD's 2.2.1 until this current flash (on my phone) bombs. 2.2.0 is working great for me.
For those who claim to have no problems...
Try downloading a file larger than 1 MB in PIE or Opera...
The issue has NOTHING to do with DCD's work...
Definitly the Radio...
There only problems I have seen with the 2.2X Roms DCD has put out is some issues with installing programs on the storage card...
But if I know DCD that will be fixed rather quickly.
So I am a proud owner of the Thunderbolt now and I am loving this phone a lot. I’ve moved over from the Sprint EVO. I was rooted since day 1 with that phone. I ran CM7… and while my overall phone and speed test were faster than the stock phones in the house… I still seemed to have constant issues… be it from the phone itself or the network.
Of course I can’t leave well enough alone with this phone. I wanted to put Gingerbread on it (it still has 2.2 WTF?!) and I wanted to put Sense 2.1/3.0 on it. So I successfully rooted (WOW that was easy) and installed clockwork recovery. I decided on SHIFTS3NS3 V1.4F as it seems to have exactly what I want (I kind of don’t want to go back to CM7, everyone claims they have no signal issues but I am sure they do, especially when my Sense loaded Evo could get 4G where CM7 could/would not).
So BEFORE I rooted or did anything, I did several speed test throughout my home and work. Smooth scaling and great speeds. After rooting and installing Shifts3ns3, I started running test. My speeds dropped… and now I was seeing “skipping” with the speed test (gets to a point, stops, drops, stutters going back up, drops again, etc). So I get to work this morning and the speed test is doing the same here. I did a nandroid backup of my stock set up last night before I installed the new ROM… restored it this morning… and ran the test at work again… lo and behold I am getting faster speeds and no stuttering.
So perhaps a radio issue? I noticed there are Froyo radios and GB radios (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048128)... When installing the GB ROM does it update the radios? Was I running Froyo radios on a GB rom and is that bad? Should I try upgrading to the latest GB radios and run test again? Does any of this Rom switching/radio switching affect the simultaneous voice and data ability (that’s actually huge for me and the main reason I got this phone)?
I appreciate any help. I’ve been a XDA board reader with EVO since 11-2010… so while everything is familiar to me… this all seems different with the Thunderbolt.
First off I would upgrade to the latest radio. Although these are *beta* radios, they work much better than the stock radios.
Second, after installing the latest radio try, Bamf 2.4.1. Just like you I like staying close to stock, but like extra elements with my ROM. To me Gingeritis is just too far from stock, plus the Carousel home screen is a pain in the ass. Bamf 2.4.1 is just stock with sense 3.0 weather and lockscreen, and without the location icon in the status bar.
Also, my speedtest on Bamf 2.4.1 was a straight shot. No drop offs what so ever.
And, of course this is all just my opinion but I strongly believe that Bamf 2.4.1 is what you want.

Quick question, since I am on page 10 and not seeing this answer... what is the difference between ADR and non ADR? He mentioned on page one that its "Adrynalyne. Its what I made according to my own wants"... but I am not sure what that means LOL. Only reason I am concerned is that there still seems to be a sense 3.0 lock screen bug that someone said is a known bug and to flash the non ADR version.

The ADR version uses elements of sense 3.0 while the normal version is basically stock. You want the adr version.

i came from the evo too so welcome. IMO the reason people are having soo many data issues is not from the radios but from the 2.3.5 build that was meant for the nexus s phone. 2.3.4 doesn't have those kinds of problems. just my 2 cents!

Low volume in call? Geeze... I wish I could turn it down! Gingeritis3D is blaring loud. I never use it more than half way up.
Thanks everyone for the responses!
I guess I am just scared to do anything to mess up my phone. I trouble shot and tinkered with the Evo so much so often.
Right now the phone works. And works great. I just wanna help the battery life some... and remove Verizons bloatware.
It seems the Thunderbolt handles radios differently depending on the build? With the Evo I would just flash a radio and I could bounce around from sense to AOSP, froyo to GB, and it wouldnt matter. The thunderbolt has MR2 radios... Froyo radios... GB radios. So my last question here is... right now I am on stock. If I go to a GB based rom, do I flash the radio first? And if I go back to the stock rom, do I flash the MR2 radios first (my phone updated to 1.70.605.0 while it was being set up in the store) then flash back to stock? Basically do the radios persist throughout the builds and I flash them according to what ROM I am using?
Thanks again.

The latest radio's available will work with all ROM's out right now (Including the latest Froyo ROM's).
If I remember correctly you should be okay to just flash the ROM (No need to flash the new radio as MR2 works with both GB and Froyo).
The Radio's persist through everything except a RUU or PG05IMG.zip flash (Depending on what you are flashing of course).

OK so it IS like the Evo then. The radio thread isnt stating that they are Froyo/GB radios... but where the radios got pulled FROM. I was totally reading it wrong.
Thank you for the clarification!
I'm pretty new to HTC phones, is there a way to change just the radio file?
On my Galaxy S it was extremely easy to flash a lot of different radio files to the phone and do some data testing with them to see which one works the best in different areas.
I've been getting really crappy data speeds since we got the OTA update a week or so ago. I like most of the stuff in the OTA, I just want to flash back to the prior radio.
Is this something that's possible?

With S-On we can't flash radios, except the OTA , but I think Con pulled the radio files and made them flashable in his Stock rom OTA thread for people that were having main ver issues and couldn't flash the OTA.
So, I think if you changed your main ver back using the main ver fix you could flash the original RUU prior to the OTA , then flash the Con rom with the updated radios pulled out . So then you would have original radios with the rest of the OTA updates. Sorry if this is confusing, trying to explain the best I can.

No, I'm pretty sure I understand what you're saying. Edit my mainver back to 1.0.0 then RUU back to how it was stock/new. Then flash Con's ROM that includes the OTA updates and bug fixes, but his ROM sticks with the older radio file.
I think I'll try that.
I wonder if others are noticing a serious drop off in data speeds as a result of this new radio. I mean even my wifi is a lot slower. My home internet connection is 15Mbps down, and before I could get 14-15M over wifi, now I cant get over 5M, meanwhile my mac and my laptop both still get 15M so I know its not a cable modem or wifi router issue, its an issue only with this phone.

Before the update on 4G I could get 28M down, 14M up on a consistent basis. All different times of the day and different locations around town. Now since the update, its considerably slower. Like 6-12M down and 1-2M up. Night and day difference. What I dont know is, if Verizon is doing this on purpose or if it's just a flaw in the new radio.
Also, like I said above, my wifi performance has been basically cut into third of what it was. Which is ridiculous.

I am about to flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312201
I'm wondering which radios will work with this. I'm new to rooting/flashing, fyi. I've been studying immensely.
The reason I'm wanting to flash a new rom is because I'm running cyano 7.1.1 and my bluetooth piece will no longer connect to my phone. Would you folks recommend I flash a new rom? Or only new radios?
The current radios I have are: 1.48.00.0817r AND 0.01.78.0802w_3.
ALSO, if I may ask, what is the difference between RUU and Radios? How are the two linked?
Thank you very much.
Radios really aren't rom specific. more like whatever works best on your phone.. sometimes updating to a radio that works or fixes someone else's problem isn't necessarily going to fix someone else's . If that makes sense.. I honestly haven't changed radios since I first rooted in 2011..
Really what works great for one person might not work great for you. Most you can do is just try different radios over s few days and come up with your own conclusions of what worked better on your phone.
reestipt reactions.
RUU = rom upgrade utility. Basically usually the stock roms from HTC.
The radio usually affects signal quality and speed.
Hey guys, I dont post here much but i did some searches and read the FAQs and cant find any info on my questions.
Im wondering about known bugs.
Is there a problem with the bluetooth audio streaming profile? My legend streamed perfectly over BT to my car sterio but Amaze wont.
Lately it does not switch to wifi automatically when I get home. bug?
Has HTC released ANY updates in the last year, b/c Mobilicity in Canada has not given me ONE update.
I found in the FAQ that, when you record video, the audio on the video sucks, all my concert videos suck
the keyboard seems slow and flakey, swiftkey is waaayyy better
So im thinking if selling and getting a nexus 4.
Will a root and rom install fix issues and make it a better phone. Any inut appreciated. I think Ill stick with nexus branded devices in the future. Not getting any updates is unacceptable.
thanks.
so, seems there is a BT issue for audio streaming

so your phones practically out of the box then? are they any real issues with stock roms though.. i mean besides compatibility with the other actually devices that your using with it.. your car etc... i would suggest unlocking the bootloader, and flashing a few roms to try something new and different.. but be warned... once you flash a rom you'll never stop wanting to flash rom
