[Q] will rooting/custom rom avoid motoblur sign in? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
sorry if this was asked before, i couldn't find a clear answer after searching. the closest I got was:
CM7 stands for CyanogenMod v7. It's a very popular ROM, b/c of its built-in options, great enchantments and total removal of manufacture software; i.e. all that MotoBlur stuff on your device is gone.
I don't really mind all the built-in apps and etc. what i can't stand is every time I remove/change my sim card it asked me to sign in to my motoblur account; so my question is, after rooting/installing a custom rom, will it still require me to sign in?
and if so, is just rooting enough? or will need a custom rom to avoid this login?
thanks in advance.

yes it will have gapps so the sign in to motoblur will not appy..

other custom roms too? i'm more interested in a non cm7 rom. thanks!

Well you have a choice now between :
- ICS/CM9 ROMs (Not really stable but fancy and other cool stuffs)
- CM7 ROMs (Stable, really stable and fast)
- Blur/GB ROMs (Stable, the best is NottachTrix which has Webtop included)
- MIUI ROMs (Fancy as hell, but I've never tried one...)
- AOSP based ROMs (Android Open-Source Project ROMs are ROMs made from scratch, they can be stable as they can be a disaster)
And if you install a Blur ROM, you will have to log in with your Blur account but you can still try a Deblur script (Search engine is your friend, don't forget it).
Here's a list of ROMs with comments, pro and con's.

There are 2 types of roms. Blur and nonblur. Roms based on stock usually have blur. Some don't. Roms based on cm7 don't have blur. So its just a personal preference if you want to stay as close to stock or not. Search around in development section to see if you can find a rom to suit your needs.

CM6 is a Froyo rom and the only roms we have that are froyo are either CM or CM based or with CM stuff already in them. As far as adding them to Eclair roms I'm not sure if they would work, but feel free to test and tune

how bout cm5
Is it possible to take the latest CyanogenMod Settings and put it on Froyo Rom so that I can have all the features (I have the Elelinux special edition) like Battery percentage in the Topbar or customizing the colors, integrated SetCPU and so on?
Edit: This is for hero, but I figured, I do not need to open a separate Topic as its essentially the same question.

I doubt it, but if you try it before anyone else does, you can let us know if it works or doesn't.

[Q] Custom ROMS vs Stock

Do all Custom ROMS for all the positive features they may bring always result in less stabililty than a Stock ROM?
I imagine CM7 to be the best....seeing as he works for Samsung also. I certainly found it the best when I had the I9000/Galaxy. However looking at the CyanogenMod forum there are plenty of people raising issues with the builds (including 'stable' builds).
I really enjoy trying different ROMS usually but I am deliberately sticking with a rooted stock at the moment - and it has never froze, crashed or rebooted itself yet! I do miss fiddling with my phone though!
Thoughts/opinions appreciated.
Thanks
criskelo 31 + latest siayh - no problemo )))
Yes.

If you want a stable rom, then use the one in my sig. Oxygen is amongst the most stable roms that are out here. It's almost bugfree, because the creater of the rom, Adam G is a perfectionist.
You have no touchwhizz, just stock android that works. If you are looking for a shiny rom, then this one is not for you. If you want a stable rom and an almost bug free rom, then this one is for you.
ps you won't find this rom on xda, because he does not want that anymore.
Samsung Galaxy SII
try this combination...
*CheckROM Revolution HD v3.1.1 (fast and lite)
*Speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-test8-CWM.zip (best battery life)

I don't know if you can say that. It has some coding from CM, drivers etc. But it is supposed to be a stock android rom, the way google intended it, with (almost) no CM stuff.

[Q] Force 2G only

After searching the forums and roms i couldn't find information on an option i was looking for;
I'm want to know if any blur rom that contains the force 2g only option.
I know this option from cm7 on my old optimus and i assume it will be in any cm7 based rom but i want to try working with webtop some more so i just want to know if I need to flash a custom CM rom for it.

[Q] New on S3.. what mod do you recommend me?

Hi for all... thats basically my question, what mod do you recommend? I thinked CM but it's currently oj nightlyes builds and has a lot of entendible bugs.. f4k mod didn't lime me, i hear omega.. but what is the more "stable", "quicker," mod possible? My idea is install a good mod and install tons of apps and games with no problems.. thanks in advance and please sory my english i'm argentinian.. .
Omega 100% stable and the developer indie doesn't stop. Always updated to the latest firmware. Also a lot of theme support on the thread. Check out motomoto theme its a beauty.

they're called ROMs, not mods, and asking for the best ROM is against the rules

Sure? Because I Think what android eclair, froyo, ics, ebean all of them are ROMS And things such cyanogen, criskelo ,darkys etc are MODS for the android ROMS!... and im NOT asking for the BEST "rom".. simply i am asking for suggestions .. i readed so much stu**d questions here and i think mine is not so bad... thanks for read anyway

eclair, froyo, ics, etc are versions.
cm, darky, criskelo, omega are all roms that are modded. mods on the other hand are specific changes that do not include the whole rom with it. it depends on having a rom as a base to install onto.
stuff like removing charging notifications or add camera functionality are mods. the ability to add any app to multi Window is a mod, but cm, darky, omega etc are ROMs. they're completely independant and does not require a flashing of another rom as a base.
and yes, you are asking for what the best rom is. the fact is, you'll have to just try different roms and see which one suites your need. check the all in one sticky thread for a link to another thread that categorizes roms based on what concept of android they're going for (stock, aosp, aokp, sense, etc etc).
all of these roms are very well documented and they explain what their rom was built for.

[Q] AOKP / CM Based Rom and CM10 Theme

Good Morning,
I have looked around and am having a hard time finding an answer to this. Specifically, I have the DNA and a CM10 theme that I want to use. My understanding after research is that in order to use the Theme Manager you must have a ROM that was compiled with Theme Manager support?
If so, does anyone know of a ROM for the DNA that has Theme Manager support? Is it just a matter of finding a ROM that supports it? Im currently using Team Viper's ROM. Long story short, I want to use this theme: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mac.theme.Alloy.Red on my DNA.
Thanks!
You need to be running CM10.1 to use a CM10.1 theme

Did you forget to check the section labeled "Original Development"? There is a thread for CM10.1 in the top 5 or 6 threads. It isn't stable, but it's there.
I didn't forget, it's just not usable at this point. There is no voice support, play store support, etc. I was curious if there were any CM10 based ROMs. Also, someone told me that AOKP based ROMs support CM10 themes, do you know if that's true?

Theme Manager themes will work with any AOSP rom that has Theme Manager support. AOKP and CM builds with that built in will support those downloaded themes.
If there were any fully functional CM10.x/AOKP roms, they would be among the top threads in the Original sub-forum. You're not missing anything. CM10 is being worked on, but will take time. Once that's finished, it will have Theme Manager, I'm assuming.
Thanks mad, I never fully understood that. So AOSP has the ability, at compile, to support Theme Manager. Both AOKP and CM typically choose to include this, and are build from AOSP code. Does that sound about right? Either way, I will just have to wait for either an AOKP or CM build with Theme Manager support?
Thanks again for all the help, and sorry.

Yes but not purely default AOSP.
The thememanager was made by the CM team is is baiscally incorporated into any AOSP rom that isn't OTA because why not.
